It took people long enough to notice what Grey said a decade ago
Quick to blame it on the British. Don't get me wrong, our electoral system is completely broken and needs from-the-ground-up reform. But we don't have nearly as many issues as the US. We don't have gerrymandering, we don't only have 2 parties (even though we sort of do), and we never gave the US their completely broken and corrupted electoral college. The US did that to itself!
I think ranked choice voting is really overrated. If you look at places like Australia, their politics aren't that much, if at all, better than places like Canada. Ranked choice makes parties need to form large coalitions of multiple parties that struggle to pass legislation, since politicians are rarely rewarded by voters for compromising.
