[Music] good afternoon everybody blackhawk here with carefree camper co and we got one heck of a tour for this guy this is a box truck and we turn into a tiny home let's go check it out so the story on this thing is we had an older couple contact us and they wanted something cool that was not their little pull behind enclosed trailer that they had behind their subaru and they wanted to be able to tow their side by side so we had to have something pretty large well we were looking at like a chevy express or something you know 3500 chassis wasn't big enough for them they were scouring facebook marketplace you know like everybody does when they get in trouble buy stuff and they found this awesome thing this used to be a verizon service truck and this thing only has 31 000 miles it's a 2007 it's the 3500 cutaway chassis with this big aluminum box on the back and then we put the carefree special touch on it and turn it into one sweet tiny house so one thing that happened was it was actually crushed on the other side somebody ran into a tree or something so we had to cover it up and make it look kind of aesthetically pleasing so then we added this three by three angle on there and it kind of gives it that off-roady look and then we did some bed line here and there to kind of spruce it up a little bit make it look a little less box truxy box trucks e box truck e one thing that was a special request from the owners was these big tow mirrors the standard cutaway chassis tow mirrors on there and you couldn't even see past the box it was not safe so we got these big honking things on there total visibility as well it kind of adds that kind of off-roady big truck feel to it as you see up front we have some more bed liner details we did the hood we did the bumper we did those just so we could break up the white a little bit because at the end of the day it is one big white box cool thing about the box is you got all the under storage we did cut this rv door in we'll show you that in a little bit factory was the window that came in the aluminum box when verizon had it so we kept that it was actually really good placement on the interior here well this is going to get used for this exterior box it'll actually be propane storage so they're going to be able to put their big 30-pound propane tank in there hook it up to their outdoor propane fire pit that they're going to bring along they've got a griddle all that good stuff everything's vented as well as exterior access so when it's time to fill up it's very easy to get to probably even leave the tank in there when you fill it up on the back here we got a spare tire this is aftermarket we had to find a place to put it they are older generation of folk who own this thing so the one thing was putting it up high or putting it in weird places that you couldn't really get to it so that's why we put it chest level that way when you take the bolts off it's very easy to take down it is a little bit heavy at about 75 80 pounds but little manageable we couldn't cover up the tail lights so it's kind of the best spot that we found out still got rear door access here it's got the heavy duty step bumper to get up in there plastic lugs baby the whole reason we got the box truck was that hitch right there that way they can put their 16-foot trailer and their side-by-side and tow it out to wherever they're going camp and enjoy some off-roading right here is just more exterior storage so here generators no longer there but they wanted to retain those outdoor outside outlets so those are actually hooked up into our solar system that way they can plug in run lights power power tools out here work on the quad all that good stuff as well as some waterproof exterior storage for some other things added by us we put an outdoor shower in so this is hooked up to the 40 gallon water tank as well as the 4 gallon water heater that we got in there that way if they need to wash something off or wash themselves off and not do it inside the rig do it right outside here come around to the driver's side we still got some underbody storage we got the shower power plug as well as we got these cool things these are actually kayak holders so they'll stick out you can put your kayak on there strap it down and then when you're not using it they get pushed away right against the body of the van pretty awesome one other thing so this grated door this used to be where the generator sat it was a graded door so it could vent the generator we can actually use this to advantage in our layout and then right in here we have access to the gray water tank as well as the toilet gives you access to the back of the kitchen sink there that way you can get in there pull your grey water tank out if need be you're not having to drag it through the whole camper we did have to put on a nice aluminum plate and waterproof the whole thing because it was graded but that turned out pretty awesome easy access this was the side that was all kind of mangled up a little bit a little wonky so then that's when we fixed it up with the sweet three inch by three inch angle trim that's everything we did on the outside let's go take a look at the cab then we can take a look at the interior which all the magic happens so up front real quick guys normal cab area of a cutaway chassis classic chevy seats one thing that we did is we upgraded the sound system they love listening to their country music so we got the updated head unit and door speakers one thing also is this thing is kind of a pain to drive in traffic so we added a couple rear-facing cameras that show up on this big nine inch monitor that way when they're looking backwards they can see right behind them because it's very hard to see through those back door windows as well as they can see the cars and the opposing lanes as well as when they're towing a trailer with their side by side they'll be able to monitor that and make sure everything's good to go back there let's go check out the back so one thing that we did for easy access we put in this rv style door that also retains us the screen door on the other side and then we put in the awesome lippert heavy duty steps ground adjustable so when you're on uneven ground or like us how the ground where the steps are is a little bit lower than where the band is then you can adjust them and get that nice sturdy step and be able to walk up in there come take a look at the inside guys [Music] this is pretty awesome in here as you can see i'm five foot eleven i'm able to stand up i believe the ceiling height is about six foot two up in front here is where the mom's attic if you rent a u-haul ever that overhead storage is we wanted to retain all of that so super deep cabinets all of the really nice white and black handles 10 feet of cabinet space on this side we made sure we stuck the microwave in there for them that way they can cook up their leftovers if they don't feel like cooking a whole meal we got six feet in a countertop space we got the signature sink cover awesome black stainless steel sink black faucet everything's looking nice and clean in here this is actually a teak countertop this is looking really good the colors really pop under the sink here you actually guys saw that from that outside door but what we got is we got our gray water system with our valve where we can either dump into the tank or dump below out onto the ground but also we got this guy this guy is pretty awesome this is one of our new sponsors that we were working with and this is the ogo composting toilet these guys were actually going to go with the cassette toilet price wise and simplicity but then ogo here reached out to us and uh we were able to get a couple of toilets from them and they're pretty awesome we'll do a whole video on this but go check out their website description down below they make one heck of a toilet so it's pretty awesome this is the first build of many that we're going to put those in whole thing just slides underneath the sink there out and away can't even see it doors lock away good to go coming over off the sink we have more storage big deep drawers pots pans whatever they want to store in here they got it down here like always we got our energy efficient 12-volt fridge shout out costway hooking us up again we love these things this thing's been running now for almost two weeks straight we've been trying to test the power system see if we can run it down we have quite a big power system in the back which will sold you slides away slide bolt latch into the floor on the other side of the fridge there we have our hideaway garbage deep storage so you can have cleaning supplies all that good stuff as well just more and more storage in this build drawer after drawer underneath the bed this is a full-size queen bed we only had to cut out a little bit for that weird rectangle going on in the back there of the nightstand next to the bed you know got to have more storage just more and more of it for clothes and all that good stuff all that upper cabinet space another upper cabinet over there we had to make sure that we had some space for uh you know books and reading glasses and charging phones stuff like that that's why we're always putting you know 12 volt outlets as well as 120s out by the bed there that way they can charge their devices while they sleep so i've got the two max air fans got to have that got to have the recessed led lights really lights it up in here one of the biggest key features that we actually came to when we're almost done is there's no table where are these people going to eat so we actually came up with this bad boy this flip up table that way they can still get into bed so flips up that thing's kind of small blackhawk how am i going to have two people eat on that comfortably don't worry we thought of that 36 inches of eating space somebody can sit on the bed somebody can see it opposing they've already got some collapsible chairs picked out that they can eat around the table as well as it gives you enough space if you got to get around to your nightstand or anything like that but when you're done eating and you want to go to bed thing just folds up walks away and then walks up against the wall there that way i can get up into bed queen-size bed baby one thing that the owners wanted was they wanted to stay out as long as they could without having to worry about a generator or anything like that down in there guys we got a huge battery system that's 600 amp hours of agm battery up on the roof we got 600 watts of solar yeah 600 watts they're going to be able to run anything they want they got the 3 000 watt renergy inverter charger the mppt all that good stuff as you can see there's the four gallon bosch water heater and then they wanted the biggest water tank we could fit in here so we got the 40 gallon water tank sureflow pump accumulator all that good stuff this thing is meant to be off-grid this thing is going to keep them out there for about two weeks and still has plenty of storage underneath the fixed bed well guys that was pretty awesome this is our first box truck this thing is meant to go off-grid off-roading and keep them out there for a while i think they're going to truly enjoy this and we actually had a really fun time building not just because it's super square and all the cabinets were easy to make but because it really gave us some free-flowing ideas on the interior and you know you don't see this every day a sweet off-road box truck almost an expedition truck this was awesome guys but we got some really cool videos coming up some really cool tours and some really cool news to share with you so
