so y'all seem to like the F-150 video when we done it so we figured we'd make it into a series and continue this with this Jeep this is a 2.5 liter I have no clue what kind of J this thing is YJ what are these things wrong one yeah fairly certain this okay either way it's a 90 something I believe early 90s yeah it's kind of cool it's got a little bit of room right here for a turbo so that's our game plan today is uh just knocking this thing out we'd like to do this in a quick time manner like we did the F-150 you know five six hours but first we're gonna go over here show you all the parts we got for it max speed and rods actually came on board and supplied us this turbo this thing is absolutely sick got the gold wheel I dig it internally wastegated that way to keep things simple so one thing we're going to do on this video that we did not do on the F-150 video is try and keep y'all up to date on the actual cost of every single one of these parts basically to keep you all informed on how cheap you can actually do this if you have a welder and a little bit of time and some know-how on just how to do this stuff without hiring someone to do it this turbo actually is like 230 dollars right off the rip but if you don't want that fancy gold blade in there you can actually pick this same exact turbo up for 124 dollars that's as budget as it gets you can't beat that deal and what's cool about this one is it's already got a v-band exhaust housing on it so that's sick really useful we also got a couple couplers that we think we're going to need to come off the intercooler the turbo and the throttle body so with all that right there that is 49 the intercooler itself is 100 bucks actually snag some B bands as well to get the stock exhaust up to where the turbo is going to go these was actually 4 crazy kind of pricey but make stuff really really simple we got a flange that was 23 we also snagged this slick little glow shift boost gauge right here digital pretty cool it was actually pretty budget 49 bucks we got a stainless weld on drain fitting for the oil pan that was actually 5.30 a feed fitting which was 10. it's crazy that's more expensive than that we got some Line This is actually 20 foot of feed line y'all won't need nowhere near as much it was actually 25 bucks but I mean realistically we probably won't even use five six bucks worth of it we also got this fancy made in China intercooler kit two and a half inch this was actually a hundred dollars as well we won't use probably half of this as well but you know we'll have plenty left over I was actually stupid and bought two kids so last but not least we're actually going to switch the Jeep over to an electric radiator fan with this nice shroud I think this was 89 bucks on eBay Plug and Play deal for it because the Jeep is actually got a clutch fan with this massive fan shroud and that's going to take up a lot of room because we're thinking about running the intercooler somewhere in here that way we ain't got to drill holes through here and mount it up in there gonna try and keep it as simple as possible that's gonna be it for this intro though because this has had been a long one we're gonna get to it get it lifted in the air get the exhaust cut up off of it and start rooting it up top uh yeah we're up under the Jeep now as you can see we went ahead got the electric fans all mounted up in there the clutch fan is off there is a million miles of room up in there now so that's good but for now we'll be working on cutting this stock exhaust probably somewhere like right all day in there and somewhere right in here and then we're gonna rotate it to where now it's going to face this way and come up straight through here something like that something so another trick we like to do is on these cars that we're doing budget oriented wise is using as much of the factory exhaust as you can because there's plenty of bins on the factory exhaust and it's all the same size for the most part so if you ain't got whatever small diameter piping that is you do back there that you're not going to need off that turbo no more unless for whatever reason you're gonna have all kinds of mufflers and stuff like that on your turbo car and that's just stupid yeah the turbo's only Muffler Man they for sure I can't believe it came off no me neither [Music] all right so we got that piece bolted back up and we've clocked the piece that we cut off right there to see how we're gonna use it to get it up forward but what's it looking like I'm going to either shorten this or shorten that but for some reason I well for some reason it's just long it could go up under the old pan but since he does off-road this we want to yeah we're trying not to be as ghetto as we was with the F-150 this is his daily driver power stance is back boys [Applause] oh man that's gonna be money all right y'all so we went ahead we got the turbo zip tied up on this support bar right here wedged up exactly how we're wanting it placement wise so if you look down there you can see where it's just going to be shooting up it might be a little bit better angle over here and it's going to go from there right up into the bottom of the turbo so we're pretty good on that we just have to uh a bunch of weld now at this point I guess don't you say yeah needs to weld up to a pipe hey y'all getting it back down on the ground right now we have the entire turbo kit tacked up to what we think we're gonna need right now we're gonna get the intercooler up in here to make sure it's going to clear the fan straight shot as you can see from the compressor Outlet there um we only needed about six inches of this stainless kit so you can scratch that off of uh your price cost everything else is stock exhaust off this workout it is a work of art I mean you know art is what's the word subjective subjective and beauty is in the eye of the beholder for son this thing looked good as [ __ ] so most people would run their intercooler like that we're gonna flip it upside down I guess if there is a right side up girthy bit it did not need this thick of an intercooler hey y'all so while we was getting that all wheelered up actually yank a pan off getting it drilled right now for a oil drain we've chose the driver's side because it's going to be real busy with exhaust on the passenger side so we're just going to Loop it around [Music] [Applause] everything get fluxed around here all right y'all whole pants back on drains welded up turbo kit is back on we're about to lower it back down now and get the turbo slid down on it got the kit all tightened up turbo is on where it's going to be it's supporting itself right now so we're actually about to yank it back off that way we can do the first start of it with this to blow out any kind of welding slag it might be in there as we did flux core this entire thing 100 welder been going strong for years that's the first part of any budget build by Harbor Freight welder Turbo's off she good battery's on new oil in it a little fired up single sound like hammered hail dude it's gonna sound good you cut the turmoil without oil with that one hey y'all we got the turbo on and mounted whipped up this quick little bracket you know simple little tab but it should allow it to rock and pivot on that Rod I don't know it's a thought starting to work on the down pop now Will's getting some stuff tacked up it's coming along about to start actually getting the intercooler in and working on brackets for that to mount it we're getting close we also made this little miniature moonshine still for the coolant temp sensor and the fan trigger wire so it's the only way we can figure out how to do it and retain the factory gauge I don't think he wanted hits today it'd be sick but he hates him so before he likes him whipped up these quick intercooler Mount tabs she's pretty sturdy Will's getting the uh fan wiring figured out right now I'm thinking about hopping over and doing the boost gauge I mean someone got to do it might as well be me that way wheel can fix it after I [ __ ] it up rear wheels working underneath I'm up top just got the boost gauge wired in comes on illuminates everything's good to go on that you change the colors if you want but all green gauges yeah that's pretty sick so that's gonna fit right in hell yeah it's looking like Moment of Truth things escalate a little bit actually whipped up a pretty nice down pipe on this thing it's going down to where it is it's daily so eating something I don't guess he needed something he just want some pretty much be good it's gonna sound so good [Music] [Applause] sounds like an SRT picked a little bit [Music] not yet [Music] impressive before yeah hey y'all Jeep is turboed I don't know how much time you think we got in this damn thing it's definitely more than the five we had in the F-150 definitely but we had to do a lot more this could have been done very quick yeah my man's didn't want to fully talk but it is done we probably have I don't know I'm saying you think we got 12 true word but we're going to take it out for the first time it's night time right here so the quality of the GoPro is probably going to be trash um just to make sure we ain't got no leaks beat on it a little bit see if everything's good and then we'll come back in the morning and uh really put it to the test see what it's doing get the wide band in it check some Air Force see what kind of boost we can make but for now you ready to go fill this thing I am ready oh 100 horsepower about to feel like 105. yeah this thing was sketchy without a turbo yeah [Music] yeah it feels feels the same sounds a little bit for sure just cruise to see what it sounds like getting some I can tell a difference yeah it's been kind of dark and Airy out here it's like but both attempt staying good it's running it's running pretty good yeah it's really great it sounds good yeah it does gauge just does not move the pops sound better now yeah it's like the what I'm always sick she sounds sick as [ __ ] yeah dude it pulls pretty [ __ ] good the boost gauge ain't working like it's staying stagnant on zero it ain't even moving so we need to check it I wonder if it's pitched somewhere if it is it's coming through this firewall and I can take an X-Acto Knife and cut that rubber out okay hey uh first drive was successful it sounds great makes all the sick pops and backfires Turbo's making some noise it's definitely making more boost and I think it's more underneath but we haven't changed uh anything to do with the wastegate yeah we're gonna try and take all the preload out of this maybe even extend it look at him now unlock washers down there melt easy answer it's 20 20. yeah so now we're just going to go ahead put some sharper on this and see if the boost gauge is in fact working or where our problem is because we need to know what it's making so we can try and at least turn it down turn it up that's when we need them no no it's blocked somewhere this thing's sick it sounds just like an SRT I mean I don't want to admit it but 100 you pulled out and I was like damn bro you could literally do a side-by-side rev comparison eyes closed out eyes closed the angle meal I guess which as well I don't know I could no hey yo we're gonna take it back out for round two we got the gauge working so we're gonna fire this thing up [Applause] no nothing oh girl just running strong like she always has [Music] that's 10 pounds to move we're gonna try and turn that down it held it pretty strong like 10 pounds not bad I mean we don't know what the [ __ ] the air fuels was raw dog in it she felt pretty good well it's more than 10. [Music] oh yeah hell yeah you got you a turbo jig yes oh yeah could you hear it flutter coming up the road yeah definitely yeah just a man in this Jeep no injectors no fuel pump no tune no nothing besides adding a turbo it just made about 15 pounds of boost and most all this shit's 30 years old you're talking even these like radio Heroes is here I mean they're they're dead I see the cracks oh yeah they're dated like 93 one of them are original injectors I mean it's it's stock ready for Boost yeah dude that's fine I really like it we're gonna have to race the F-150 we're gonna have to have a three-way ship [ __ ] box race well two way yet yeah wait till the Lexus Lexus [ __ ] y'all next day we're actually here on lunch break from work I just took all the preload off this wastegate arm and actually extended it so it's got a little bit of I don't know we're just trying to make this thing not make 15 pounds of boost and since that's what this wants to make trying to figure out another option to lower that um your afr's right now cruising our money like absolutely perfect dude [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] hi also unforeseen issue on our part was we wanted to try out the internal wastegate on this turbo it was one of the only ones that came with it and the v-band exhaust has them so we thought we were slick and gonna get away with this but there's absolutely no way to regulate it other than what kind of boost it wants to make so unfortunately we are going to have to go in here and add us an external wastegate just so we can control this boost and dial it back yes it's taking it but it ain't gonna take it for much longer I'd say it's got to be some kind of record quickest external wastegate dump install ever it's got to be up there so proud prioritized it you know in terms of flow we're going to give it its best chance of making as little boost as possible because 15 pounds ain't gonna cut it however much it's making especially on 87 octane so we're gonna try this one last time hey y'all we're running mad late getting back to work from lunch because uh I don't even know it was a [ __ ] show to be honest with you but trying to play it safe we really don't want this thing just blowing up fingers crossed it makes list and whatever the [ __ ] he was making before somewhat safe this thing [Music] I got my foot locked up under here [Applause] hey y'all we're back at the shop we're actually in the bottom line about to try and yank yourself well I don't even know what I'm saying about the Yankees F-150 out of here it's been stuck I don't know I think it was just a Snapchat Instagram story we had but as you can see the tire is completely gone and uh that one's inside the tires so this thing getting is stuck the Lexus actually ran out of fuel so it's stuck they're both dead in the water foreign [Music] I've seen you testing out the structural integrity at bumper oh yeah ain't no way it's G got to ask the yank a bumper off that thing it'll rip it right it needs a lot of bumper anyway the job done brother what are that what do you mean got a little pink they're high quality fries I don't believe in stuff I don't see why not grow always stored hey I don't know hell yeah this could have been you [Music] know all right oh dang has a little bit of clutch yeah we got we got some smoking Clips kicks was a little wild I counted like four yeah [Music] [Applause] damn cop belt air boats uh so with that that is another budget turbo build done this will win a little above what we typically would because it's his daily and it ain't our car he's just we work with him he helps us out a lot we wanted to kind of give back and uh he's gonna come help us wire up some lights in the shop too so we get a little bit better loud situation for the videos but once again huge shout out to max speed and Ross for coming on board kids always wanted turbo and now he's got one unfortunately he did get to fill 15 pounds in that thing and I can promise you going back down to four or five pounds life ain't gonna be the same so I have a feeling in the future we might actually see this thing back maybe with a built motor Standalone I don't know some way to tune it and turn it up I will say we will probably never make the mistake again and going with an internally gated Turbo yeah I don't know what we was thinking but we had a thought and it just was not uh thoughten so hopefully you enjoyed this video these little budget turbo build series I mean we're definitely going to keep them all under a thousand dollars this one I'm just kind of rounding right now it's probably around 700 all said and done depending on which turbo you got you could get one that was significantly cheaper and probably keep it in the fives we are trying to hit a
