WE DRAG AN ABANDONED '57 CHEVY HOME!

so where are we headed we're headed to texas for a little surprise oh yeah we're going to stop the ameristar casino and heat check out the mississippi river [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] all right we're gonna take you guys back two or three months when i went back to texas to pick up my 57 chevrolet hardtop man finnegan found it on a road trip on the way home from arizona and uh i was actually looking for doors for my other car which turned into another car oh my god look there's a 56 rear bumpers front bumper doors i want you to think this through all right the other car junk yes but fiberglass fixes all that stuff right this one less junky good patina right so are you building a race car or just do a patina both oh my god i feel like this is like car guy problems you see a cool car you hail you like all of them so fun deal never bought another car i can't wait to tell the family oh they're going to be so excited a little backstory on the car dickie bought it in 1977. when he got it had a 409 and a four speed in it uh too bad it wasn't in there when we got it that'd be pretty cool but he used that drivetrain in another car he used the seats out of it and uh just several miscellaneous parts because he considered it a parks car because it was so rough but it was at a different location along with all these other cars and apparently a bunch of kids got in there and busted all the windows out did a lot of body damage and so he moved all the cars to where he currently is now and that car's been under the shed where you see it since 1995 [Music] welcome to texas [Music] um [Music] we met up with emily and aaron from flying sparks garage they lived about four hours from where the car was but uh they helped me get it all loaded up battery for the winch dice [Music] all right check it out i'm riding down the road and the car looks kind of sad i'm looking in the mirror because i'm in love with it so i keep looking at it right i look at matt i'm like dude why don't we pull over put all the trim rings on it the headlights in it and the hood on it give it a little facelift before we get home he's like that's a great idea so we're in advance we have 20 minutes till they close we're going to get some hardware i'm going to show show basically some love so let's go oh um people know how to use the can yeah we're definitely missing the latch because this goes and it's even with the top of the grill and the latch sits further back so it's missing play more nice nice all right there's our hood complete with the chrome on the front and the bullets [Music] there you go 20 minutes of work we had to tap the hood i had to run there by a tap clean the holes out but uh new bolts in the hood uh i'm missing the latch i didn't realize that but i'm missing the latch it may be in the car somewhere but we got it uh ratchet strapped inside to the chassis we got our headlight buckets in got our trim on just looks good i love it so since i got the car home i've done a bunch of work to it i've actually pulled the chassis out from under the first car that i had because it's called a california frame it's a one-piece box tube deal and the frame that's under the hardtop is two pieces of c channel welded together which is called a two piece frame so i've got that frame all cleaned up got it painted got a bunch of new front suspension parts on it brand new ford nine inch from quick performance in the rear the six speed out of my nova and the og ram trucks 454 which has a brand new roller cam shaft it's just been resealed it's ready to go so that chassis is almost done and as soon as it's finished i can move the body over and get this thing on the road again i'm not going to do anything to the body i'm probably just going to seal it leave it just the way it is but the frame under the hood the interior is gonna be super nice
