How fast is the fastest home built airplane?

Hey guys, thanks for watching! Cory Robin here I decided to record a special introduction to this episode because... well I got really sick once I made it to the 'Chicken Strip' (AIRSTRIP). I continued to try and do the vlog but man, I was just not feeling good I'm going to show you the footage anyway because I still made the best of it. I tried to have as much fun as possible but I got the flu and it was NO GOOD! We're going to start out the video with a quick business trip to Oxnard, California in Mike Patey's Turbulence We're going to show you the airplane the trip how fast it is really fun little side trip on the vacation then we're going to go right back to the chicken strip show you the hot springs and the trip home (to Utah) What's up Buddy! Howdy boys - Mike Man that wind is awesome! I bet you got landed short, we were there watching this whole time going "where is he" and all the sudden you're in the tie downs. I know, I got stopped way back there, you could almost - I COULD ALMOST DO A HOVER LANDING! Alright, just getting ready to leave we are just about ready to head on over to Oxnard (California) In Turbulence (airplane) So flight planning in a one of a kind world record holding fastest single engine turbine aircraft in the world is a little bit different than flight planning with the Super Cub If I was to jump in my Carbon Cub and fly from here (North Las Vegas) to Oxnard (California) it would be three hours - PLUS probably close to four hours in Turbulence here - 40 minutes (Oxnard) Took a break from the Bush Flying and flew over to Oxnard and now we're having lunch over in Ventura Just a little quick business lunch and then we'll be back gotta go meet the boys in Death Valley (at the chicken strip) Alright Mike and I have just finished up with our meetings here in Southern California at the Oxnard area airport Mike's just having some withdrawals he's going to go back to the Salt Lake area and continue working on the Wilga I'm going to go play in the Death Valley Area with the rest of the Flying Cowboys See ya later! Alright just made it back to Las Vegas from California Turbulence is AMAZING what a TIME MACHINE holy cow about a 35 minute flight from the coast in Oxnard to North Las Vegas Airport BAM That get's it done! Now it's time to jump in the old Super Cub and go from FAST to SLOW Now I'm heading direct from Las Vegas over to the Chicken Strip Wish you were here! Well, made it safely to the Chicken Strip check this out Yeah Jason and Dooley are here and some other folks I'm going to push my airplane back check out this sky the sun's going down it's looking amazing! You come to California to be warm and it's cold as heck! ....he's got his invisible blanket on - Jason How was your flight in yesterday? Flight was really fun Cold, good push (tailwind) and then the view once we got into Death Valley we flew the whole valley - it was georgeous! We camped overnight last night and I have yet to open this cache is what I think it is and so let's open this up and see what's in here haha if it opens alright! there's a little note in here a sign up sheet where all the pilots sign up a little newspaper in case you get bored November 11, 2017 so it's not too old a lantern got a little rope a half drank bottle of water another one they're all opened by the way so I'm not quite sure as to their value some fire sticks that is valuable - that's handy old rusty channel locks bottle opener another bottle of water opened honey roasted peanuts (laughing) that is awesome wintergreen altoids oh, it's a fire starting kit! got a striker got treated waterproof matches some accelerant then the rest is really just a bunch of corks let's see if there's anything else in here a rock to weigh the thing down that's kinda cool so we'll sign up on the sign up sheet and we will check out the history on the piece of paper here maybe what we'll do is we will actually throw some of this garbage away and put something in here that's worthwhile for the next people because I have a few extra water bottles I know if I had to and I was really dehydrated I'd probably drink this but I'd boil it first because you don't know what's going on with that water so we'll replace it with some sealed bottles maybe put a bag of food in there that's useful firestarter is good so we'll leave that a roll of toilet paper would be nice we will leave it better for sure so we'll take some of this trash out throw it away and replace it with good stuff so the next people that visit the Chicken Strip have some good stuff Because we're the Flying Cowboys, and that's how we roll Alright, we have landed in Panamint Springs let's go see who's here that's one way to get the dog out of the airplane she loves it hahaha here we are Dooley! Panamint Springs baby, first time, this is awesome! Heck yeah we just landed it's Monday mid-day we're going to stop for lunch here at Panamint Springs yeah - pretty cool little dirt strip long enough for just about every airplane on the planet to get here if it's a piston over here at the Chicken Strip the weather has gone kinda south so we've secured the camp secured the airplanes everybody's been talking up these hot springs like they're just completely awesome they're the most amazing hot springs they've ever been too they're clean they're not smelly they're wonderful as the saying goes I'll be the judge of that I'm starting to feel like I'm getting sick which is really super NOT FUN when you're on an adventure especially when you're camping and it's cold and windy wow look at this the terrain just totally changed from that dark lava flow to light sand just instantly there's a sharp line you can see it look at that, wow I hope the weather turns out to be blue skies like this and not this I think I'm about half way there which is right there in those palm trees the oasis in the desert wow this is quite a little jaunt alright we've made it to the springs went to the springs, it was pretty awesome except for the fact that I am getting like dreadfully sick the whole achy thing going on camping in the cold and it's really cold it was snowing just a couple thousand feet from where we are at I had to fly through a snow flurry to get back to our camp I think tomorrow morning depending on how I feel I'm going to try and get and early start and get back home Alright we flew down to the grocery store to replace some of the really gross items in here with good items so got some new batteries for the torch fresh bottles of water that are sealed and sealed protein bars and we replaced that nasty bag of nuts with a sealed bag of nuts and I'm going to fill out the register alright - that's a wrap well it's time to go we have got everybody loading up into our airplanes here at Chicken Strip it's been fun see ya later Airplanes are cool check this out this is a lunar crater here in Nevada There's this little road right over here just landed on that right there to come check out the lunar crater it's amazing! look at this! what a kick butt adventure! This trip is turning out to be AMAZING - so many cool things to see - so many cool landing spots I think it's time to go Jason flew off somewhere maybe south of here so let's jump in the airplane and see what he's up to How's it going? just stopped here at the Border Inn right on the border of Utah and Nevada gotta get some gas so I can make it home I just put the airplane in the hangar and I happened to see none other than Creighton King in "Last Lap Player" (the name of his racing airplane) the Reno Air Racer going around the patch so I just texted him real quick, asked him to do one more circuit, he was landed and on the ground he's going to go around one more time for us (awesome airplane noise) He's so fast!! Ok, I've just made it home and I've missed my kids alot being gone for five days is a long time let's see what they have to say Hi! DADDY!!!! (hugs for everyone!)
