We Compare 18 Overland Trailers, So You Can Decide Which Is Best For You

about a month ago we attended the moore expo  in springfield missouri there we examined 18   overland adventure trailers everything from  mild to wild are you thinking about getting a   trailer but not sure what you want in one this  video will show you what options are available   not sure if you want a teardrop style trailer or  one that utilizes a rooftop tent this video will   help you decide do you want to get a close-up  look at a wide variety of overland trailers   well you came to the right place in the video  description we divided the video into chapters   quick links to each individual trailer our advice  watch the entire video then go back and watch the   trailers that most interest you we're going to get  started right now hey i'm corey davis with opera   trailers and i'm denny sex with lockwood trailers  and behind us here is the expedition 2.0 wait   what what's an average weight for these so the  dry weight with no additional options no water no   gear for the expedition is 700 pounds and overall  length for the 368 inches for the expedition mary   help me out with the demographic what demographic  of buyers would be interested in your trailers our   main feature what we like to really promote is  they're all metal there's no wood they're super   durable really well built you can take them  off road you can drag them behind your jeep   you know whatever trails you want so these  are you're you're after the abusive people   yes yeah yeah let's start up in front okay cool  first your hitch what do we got here so that's a   max coupler so we've had these trailers behind  jeeps where the spare tires are touching   and it just keeps rolling love it now as  long as the spare is here can you customize   the tires and wheels to the to the vehicle the  tow vehicle no it'll come standard with a 31   inch all-terrain tire uh-huh a 17-inch rim  with a six by five and a half volt pattern   okay in the inside this compartment here you've  got dual lead acid batteries about 100 ampere   hours this one here is a 2000 watt  inverter system so in this model here   you have your hot water and demand system  that is a standard feature in all models   uh and then here's your just a it's just a  compartment on this one but this is usually   where you place your furnace do you have like a  list of options that they can choose from we have   on our website is a trailer builder tool so you  can go through you pick the model you want you go   through the builder and check off the options you  want uh-huh and it tells you exactly how much the   trailer is you can calculate your finances on  this one here this is like the taj mahal where   you have the the sleeping compartment down here  and you can throw the kids upstairs any tent up   on the roof right yeah standard yes type of  roof rack thousand pound static load rating   that's a good one suspension i i know you  have a couple of options at least a couple   we have two options okay standard is a  timbren 3500 heavy duty axleless suspension   very common in the industry right now but the  upgraded option is we call it the ogt evolution   series by fabtech motorsports it's a that's a  long ass name can you abbreviate that for us so back here at the back end i'm  seeing a lot of storage shelves here   a lot of storage there's a good amount of rear  departure 50 degrees of rear departure to the   galley sorry sorry to take so long people  but very nice two burner stove sink right   next to it you've also got your built-in speaker  system here bluetooth wow an optional bluetooth   speaker damn guys you thought everything and  how does it does this like fold up yeah so sits there and then this just folds in so inside  you get some interior storage cabinets here   uh as well as our control panel and that has your   your readout for your xantrex inverter so you  can monitor your batteries we also have usb plugs   an outlet there is an optional tv there's a  tv taste of all yes so we are with paul gonzalez from expedition  trailers and what are we looking at uh today   we're looking at our off tracks phoenix that is  a an exclusive brand that we have on distribution   rights for here in america what what kind of  weight are we looking at here this one the way   you see it that's the sits is 25.57 okay right so  it's just under 2600 okay and the length overall   uh 12 and a half foot now can can a customer buy  just a a bare shell more or less no because as   far as you mean without a kitchen or a fridge or  anything in there no we haven't done that yet and   no one's ever asked me for that so we're at the  front well we always like to start yes um hitch   hitch cruise master do-35 okay that's what  it's standard this is what it comes with   sweet i've never seen that on a trailer  before yeah so you know if you're on the   incline yeah you know you can go ahead  and just pull back on the brake yeah   yeah before you unhook it and have it go down  the hill on you awesome so once it comes here we   had the brake disconnect battery-operated brake  disconnect okay we had the distribution posts   seven pin plugs so this is uh the front nose  cone here was designed to fit the solar panel   okay inside nice big fridge now is this like a  standard type of fridge you send with them it's   actually designed for this particular fridge it's  a natural luna 60 liter fridge freezer combination   uh in back there you'll see the redarc red vision  management system oh yeah this is your typical   uh galley kitchen right you're gonna have all the  bells and whistles and it's it's right there it's   all central you don't have to walk from here to  here all you have to do is just pivot that's it   nice got that slide in there and that's where the  the little weber baby grill nice it's right inside   there um and if you can reach into that you'll  pull it out that's your management system oh yeah   right so that's where it controls all  your features all your lights water uh   tables inside you'll be able to figure out your  storage all right so we'll come around here   this is where all the good stuff happens right  here big drawers huge tools big big drawers   you'll be able to go in there and check  those out but the dual lithium battery system   oh so they're down and down low too down low  so they're right underneath the chassis so   keep the center of god yep and then you have  jacks leveling jacks or you'll see that that's   the boostmaster xt suspension okay yeah and  they have dude both have dual shocks and coils   and it is considered suspension that's the  money and then what we got over here another we use this as a reference so you can kind  of get a good idea of what we can carry   basically so you're able to carry multiple  lifesaver cans uh this is our own little   it's an oven it's an oven it's a 1500  degree oven yeah go to the lord let's see   mary could make cookies yeah yeah she doesn't  do it at home so let's go camping so she makes   cookies all right the cool thing is you can  regulate it you can get up to 1500 degrees you can   um over here we use we take that with us it's  not something that's included in the trailer but   at the same time that's what we use in the  event that you have bad weather okay today   okay instant hot water  heater water heater on it too   and a shower and it does come with dual 11 pound  tanks if a potential customer wants one of these   and i don't understand i can't understand  why somebody wouldn't want one of these yes off-grid trailer it sits at 1910  dry weight oh nice the overall length of it is 14   feet 10 inches and it's seven seven feet wide so  it's small enough to fit in your in your single   car garage what type of person customer would be  most interested what you know what i'm saying is   that making sense i'd say really anyone i mean  it's it's smaller than your your big old rv but   it's also bigger than your traditional teardrop so  it's got a lot of comfort you know so if you want   to go go to a campsite you can go to a campsite  but if the guy wants to go off-road and everything   yeah you can go off-roading so it's definitely  capable of that huh as far as customization goes   is there is there options for your customers  do they have like a list to choose from   there is yeah there's a list to choose  from right now on this camper we have   the the rhino rack roof system and the awning  we have that as an option we have an ac in here   we also have a spare tire wait wait you have ac  in here yeah so that's an option you can add ac   damn dude you sold me if somebody were to approach  you with some special project are you able to if   within reason of course are you able to customize  that way we are so we're actually a design firm in   kansas so really if you want to put anything in  here or change the graphics or anything i mean   we we designed for uh so we could design it so  you're used to that and you can work through it   that's just fine okay cool well let's do a  quick walk around of it let's start in the   galley this is probably the most important part  of the whole the whole vehicle hold that right   there underneath here you have water systems so  you have five gallons back here and it's a little   battery awkward water system that you can use  with the sprayer and you got actually five more   gallons inside that you get so these are portable  containers yep this all comes standard with it   this comes standard which is a kobe a cook stove  so you can you know you kind of get everything   standard to go out and start your camping and you  can put the cook top on here absolutely nice and   this folds down this just folds out and acts  as a countertop we love countertops everybody   likes countertops yeah you know it's not not  just at home but when we're camping to we need   to spread stuff out one of the options we have too  is actually a table that you can mount to the side   we're actually going to put the mount in the back  to yourself and actually give you more space very   very cool so with this also comes standard which  is 110 city power here plug in that short power   campsite you got your sure power and what are  the vents here this for the ac oh that's really   yep this is just the uh in and out here so this  hitch here is actually a quick release coupler   so once you hear it click you're good this is cool  here so this tongue is actually extendable you can   extend it six 12 or 18 inches or you can actually  remove it so it's telescoping inside yeah so right   now it's actually extended 12 inches right now  for the bike and right there you have a group 27   battery box so if you need more yeah more power  and you can excellent good to know so right here   what we got is a it's a table that you can add  as an option it's just mounted to the side of   the chassis oh yeah nice little quick release  thing there the what suspension are you running   so we have a torsion spring axle-less  suspension okay gotcha independent suspension   so now to the good part the inside and this looks  very very spacious and this is a little bit a   different configuration than what we're seeing  on other trailers full-size queen infused memory   foam mattress that you get plenty of storage on  the inside 25 and a half cubic feet of storage   that's a lot that is a lot of gear storage right  there like i said you can take anything you want   anywhere you want to go you can even you can out hello i'm matt cecil with   big slack off-road here today at the moore  expo with the slack lander off-road trailer   what's the average weight for this i know it kind  of depends on accessories that are on it and such   but with the accessories that you see here it's  about 1 600 pounds and that does include the tent   that is light and the trailer does have a 2200  pound dvwr so you have a lot of capacity to add to   it nice now what's the overall length the overall  length of the body is going to be six feet the   width of the body is 48 inches but the fenders are  going to be 76 inches wide but you can still fit   between some trees absolutely all right what type  of person would be most interested in your build   what what they're looking for what do you think i  think that the person that still likes to toe down   the trail doesn't necessarily get out park it and  roam around and come back you still can but this   is meant to go down the trail with you we use a  timber and axle-less suspension so it rides really   well and it will clear all of the obstacles we do  have stabilizer jacks around the entire trailer   we do offer a removable tongue option and we even  have really large hoops so you can run a chain   completely through it in case you find yourself  in a really bad spot need to uh ride it move it   excellent we have a lot of large storage on here  we have lights in every single storage compartment   and we use cam lock seals so it doesn't just  close it closes and tightens up to help keep the   outside out and you have this rubber seal when  you're not using it you can hook your battery   tender or a charger right here and keep everything  charged up so when you're ready to go we have some   pass-through storage option here a traditional  tent camping chairs even a small generator can fit   uh-huh that's definitely enough to step on strong  enough all over this to do things stand on that we   do have brakes on all of our trailers we want you  to be as safe as possible no matter where you're   going excellent all right your galley and i like  this one this oh yeah very serviceable absolutely   very serviceable large door that won't smack you  in the face when you open it and it goes up enough   so you're not banging your head on the corner we  offer a two burner stove with a seven inch deep   sink which i feel great about you can actually  use when it drains it doesn't drain right on your   feet it'll drain up front keep it away from where  you're actually so you're not standing in a mud   puddle exactly we have a power control center  where you have all of your light switches you   have a 12 volt plug and usb plug options to  charge up all your devices and a volt meter   tell you the status of your batteries find your  battery and you can even do a master kill switch   snuffs out everything except for the power  to your cooler we have more more toys yep   and propane tank is nice and secure here water 15  gallons step your hose right here you can top it   right off and that tank is kept pretty low too as  low as you can that is all the way to the bottom   right between the wheels your center of gravity  down and now that's a very important thing that's   what a lot of people may not may not  think about when they're doing a trailer   we make our smaller storage up top arm length  so no matter what you never have to bang your   ribs on it to reach anything and you can put  the long items in there absolutely and then   you know what setup would be complete without  a knife you got to have a big fridge and that   yeah that's nice and that is heavy duty it's  heavy duty it'll hold two 48 core coolers   do you have a list of options on your say on your  website that people can choose this   this is super duty heavy looking and and i  really love that you don't have an overhang   something for something to hang up on  the trail i really like how it cuts off   right behind the tires trailers today have a good show thank you   it's a pleasure i'm jeff from badac adventure  co uh standing here we're in front of our sd10   it's the overall weight base it doesn't have  to be perfect because i know it kind of varies   if it's wet or dry or how many options  we come in generally under 2000 pounds   okay because that's that's pretty light yep  that that way uh one of our forerunners which   are not known for a lot of power even a  forerunner can pull it uh overall length   overall 14 foot uh front of the receiver to the  back end okay 10 foot box what type of customer   do you think would be most interesting we spend a  lot of time and effort to make sure everything is   as as perfect as it can be i guess that more the  aficionado that someone that really appreciates   the the fit and finish that the fit and finish and  things aren't going to loosen up probably um what   kind of suspension so our standard suspension is  the uh 3 500 pounds straight dexter axle we could   go up to 3 500 pounds if depending on options now  does it would a customer how do they do they like   approach you and say hey this is what i want these  are the options i want on the website we've got   the base price of the camper listed we've got  options listed but of course you know if there's   something i want to build a camper that will help  you camp the way you want to camp right so if   somebody has an idea hey i really need this i've  got a gazillion cameras i need an outlet panel yes   yes okay so you can do that so let's do a little  walk around we might as well start here everybody   is interested in the galley overlanders like to  eat yes and we like to eat good otherwise we'd be   backpackers this one we didn't option the stove we  usually do a dual pull out here uh that comes out   into a cutting board and then single burner uh-huh  um large storage drawers just like a kitchen   drawer all your knives forks keep them separate  so you don't have to dig through everything to   find a fork because all the spoons are on top  exactly and cheese balls does it come standard   with the cheese balls and the pretzels throw some  cheese balls in anything to sell a trailer huh   this is how we do a pass through here that  one guy actually goes into the cabinet oh nice   so if you need your snacks at night yeah  that's where so you don't have to get out   and come back here open up this yep i like  your drawer pulls and i like that that's a   nice touch i like that these uh rooftop rails  custom cut laser cut aluminum i like that 16th   aluminum i like the powder coat on them you  can put a rooftop tent which you have on here   send the kids up there exactly yes exactly  and as long as they're not wwf wrestlers   can't both fit our heads in here why don't  you tell the camera what we're looking at   we got a full uh xl bed we've also got  a couple storage compartments up front uh and then that holster over there actually holds  the remote for the max air fan a nice standard   highly articulating max coupler fully articulating  hitch we do uh the arc off road the 500 jack   great thing it's from australia  though so it cranks backwards   of course just like their damn toilets right australians i love them yeah i mean cool stuff  they do yeah they're cool people we also have uh   anderson plug for tow charging uh so we go through  uh there's a red arc in this one that does tow   charging and our solar nice and so that way you  can get the cam with a fully charged battery yes   so we got a short power plug here okay and then  we've also got our solar input here awesome we've   got um it's our camp locks instant hot water um so  a prospective buyer how do they get a hold of you   well we got a battacadventurecode.com  you could sometime yeah i'm jesse watson and uh we're with glade top  adventures out of ozark missouri can you give us   a rough estimate on the weight and the overall  length on it yeah so weight we're in about a ton   we're about 2 000 pounds and the length from back  to front overall we're about 11 and a half feet   as far as customization do you have a list  of options the customers can choose from   yeah of course we do uh we on our website  we have a list of options and then of course   we're not really a custom manufacturer but  of course we take requests and i mean yeah so   somebody comes to you with a reasonable absolutely  project for you that you can do with with what you   got right you're willing to work with them now  what what type of buyer would be most interested   in what you're offering what would they be looking  for no i think our target market is essentially   people that can look at just practicality and  maybe not want to spend the money for some of the   larger bigger brands let's talk about your galley  here what you got going on so the way we set this   one up yeah we've just got this uh griddle stand  on the hitch we've got an ovs drawer system here got a little um lighter you know of course sink and more more counter  space and that pulls out so leveling jacks i   see one here yeah uh we've got leveling jacks  on each corner that is super stable especially   when you're up in the air so you don't get that  leaning tower feel very nice cooking your eggs   don't slide to one side of the wall you know yes  yes all your butter goes all the way to one side   you try to cook your eggs in that little one  spot there and what kind of suspension are you   running on these uh timber and axles the ride you  know with timber and is good uh-huh and then uh   electric brakes are on this one as well sweet  comes with the base model very good to know   bed liner yeah so this is kind of an interesting  product um i like that surface it's pretty cool   it is very cool it's really durable and it gives  a more of a rugged appearance so we can customize   the roof rack however whatever we want to haul  up there we can like kayaks uh doesn't have to   be a rooftop tent doesn't have a rooftop tent  well let's walk up here i see a lot of storage   up here and there's your water tank there's our  water tank it's 21 gallon with a little pump   a six-panel switch um this just pretty easy  yeah simple little little thing we just added   on there so there's there's your battery a lot  more storage you got your your charger your red   is that a red arc yep redarc breaker uh plenty  all your fuses uh your your lp hose yep lots   of storage in there lots of storage um the token  box comes with our base model so you know so does   the propane holder another access to that same  really cavernous uh area in here where you can   store all your stuff that you don't want to get  wet right and also i suppose you could strap stuff   up here like you have your your spare up there you  could probably figure out some way to put things   up on top of there too some lightweight or stuff  that you don't mind having out yeah oh you got   some d-rings on there that's a nice option yeah so  i mean um we have a kayak that we like to take out   um you know we can do shelving in here we kind of  like to be able to throw anything of any size yeah   so we've kind of left this open for our trailer uh  so very nice storage so how does a potential buyer   get a hold of you what's the best way um i would  go to our website website is usually you looking to approach  of with this so really this kind of trailer   even our base model units come with  all the bare necessities you need   you know the trailer is very very capable it  can be whatever if we can do it whatever   you'll yeah you'll you'll figure out a way to make  it happen for them awesome that's good to know   well let's do a walk around uh let's we like to  start up in the front if you don't mind uh we use   lock and roll articulating hitches one of our  upgraded tongue boxes allows for a lot more   storage capability we partnered with energy for  all their power systems uh so come standard with   a 200 pound deep cycle battery okay it's going  to keep you you know outdoors without having to   recharge for a long time but in the event that you  do want more power or charging capabilities solar   is an option it comes pre-equipped with a solar  charger that's all you have to do whether it's   portable fixed plug-ins just plug it in that's  all you have to do and i just noticed something   are the levels right here that that's them and  it's right here next to the jack so that's nice   that's a nice feature and then the inside and so  on the inside of the trailer uh we use a full-size   queen it's not an rv size where you get cut down  on your link it's a full-size queen full-size   thank you thank you on the cabinets i mean you  have just all kinds of cabinet storage in here very very spacious i like this little this little step yes you can  sit on and get your shoes on and off it's it's   a very versatile step you know kind of acts as  a tree kicker too and you've got a rack on here   now you can pack with a rhino rack 270 battery  awning and you can obviously get a rooftop tent   put the kids up there absolutely yeah it bears the  weight directly into the tubular structure for the   walls which goes right into the frame so it bears  a lot of weight and it's a very very rigid design   speaking of the frame what kind of suspension  you got on so we're using the timber industries   3500 hd that's pretty standard for if you want  if you want the right stuff exactly and we use   the four inch drop long spindles so you can run  some pretty good size off-road tires yeah whether   you want to match up full-size tires to your tow  vehicle whatever that may be or even just get that   out of ground clearance standard trailers can run  35s you could add a hot water heater to your unit   um it's going to give you the capability for an  outdoor shower as well as we plumb them directly   to the sink as well so that way dishes hot water  right at the sink one thing that i notice right   away is this tabletop holy cow and this is  this is the whole back end it kind of just   swings out makes an awesome table yeah so this  tabletop just folds up it has freestanding   uprights that hold it up into place and is  this the standard uh refrigerator freezer   dual zone freezer it's the isco vl-60 that's a  good brand really good they're customer service   i mean it's just unmatched yeah and their  products are still very very high quality   while providing a good value and nice latches no  plastic i like i like that and this is super yeah   and and look at the corners on there that's really  nice how you molded that up and this controls   lights probably yeah so this would be like your  water pump your fruit uh this controls the scene   lighting here and then this controls the cabinet  lighting uh-huh and then we always try and leave   an auxiliary that's nice and even if you don't  do like the overhead lighting and stuff like   that we still have our touchscreen recessed  lighting here i was wondering what that was   yeah so if somebody wants to get a hold of you and  talk to you about trailers how opus trailers   and we've got the op4 here behind us so what's  um basically what are we looking at for weight   okay do you know that often yeah so dry weights  right around 3 100 pounds okay so and total length   on this model just over seven it's like 17 feet  in two inches so it does have an option for an   inflatable sun awning or a complete annex that's  one thing i need to talk to you this is inflatable   100 so there's no structure the structure is  through the air pieces it's a patented air   beam design so there's no metal structure in  this it's just and and how do you blow it up   push the button and there's a there's a compressor  on there's a compressor right in this compartment   that i can show you guys how long does it take to  complete about three and a half minutes that's not   bad that's not bad at all there's a lot of space  inside how many will is sleep because you've got   two beds you got one on that side one on this  side and then a convertible bed in the middle   so we fit seven in here yeah it was a little  cramped but not like especially if they're   little kids you could fit a bunch of them  and dogs like four kids there you go yeah   exactly who are you trying to market this towards  what kind of buyer are you looking for for this   folks that are wanting a lightweight camper  a low profile camper that can be towed behind   low towing capacity jeeps fj cruisers forerunners  those kind of lighter duty vehicles but has enough   room for a family folks that don't want to be in  a teardrop don't want to be in a rooftop tent but   you know want to be comfortable to where you  can hang out during inclement weather you know   it's raining and you actually can you can move  around you can stand up yes we're going to do   a little walk around of the opus and speaking  of frame is that aluminum or is that painted   it's galvanized it's galvanized okay and then  there's storage here yeah so there's uh in   the front there we've got storage for our propane  tanks as well as water or additional fuel storage   whichever they're they fit jerry cans yeah  it looks like just fits a standard jerry can   and a full a full slide out with uh now is this a  standard for the trailer or is this a the airbnb   yeah so now now they're all coming with this  fridge okay this is the airb63 cord so yeah okay probably the second biggest sell for the  four is the outdoor kitchen you know you're   pulling this thing up being  able to actually get riverside   and you know be able to actually have a proper  gas cooktop yep and this is a good yes this is   why we over landed not backpack so we can we  can eat better clamping over clamping is nice   let's go over here and explain this to us  so this is kind of our electronics home base   so we've got for rear water tank and front water  tank our level showing how much is remaining in   this oh okay cool this is our switch for our pump  so we kicked this on and then it pressurizes the   system for our water pump here at the kitchen and  our water pump at the shower and everything at the   back simply the main circuit breaker for all the  plugs in any trailer so around the trailer there's   different 12 volts i notice all kinds of usb and  12 volt outlets all over the place uh main breaker   for our fridge this is the main breaker for all  of our lights and this is our main breaker for the   heater okay what's the amp hour battery system you  have your car okay so 200 amps that's that's more   than enough pretty sufficient yeah first thing i  noticed coming in here i'm rather tall yeah there   is more than enough height here more than that  even in the sleeping compartments yeah they taper   down but there's plenty of room to get in you're  not crawling in like you're crawling into a cave   and this is nice and comfy now there's a table  obviously yeah so there's a table that we have   outside currently that goes right okay so this is  a this is oh gosh you could fit a family of four   here easy and this can be a an additional sleeping  area yeah awesome yeah dogs kids everything take   everything with you well this is a great trailer  and thank you very with hiker trailers we're here today at   the show with our extreme off-road 5x9 model ooh  extreme off-road i like the name already very good   it is the top of the line for us it has a spring  suspension on it straight axle it's made for   going places where most campers won't the basic  weight we're looking at for something like this   the average trailer uh equipped comes off  between 1800 to 200 pounds depending on   the options that the customer sells and the  overall length uh overload length is about uh   15 feet tip to tail i see you have four leveling  jacks we do two in the front two in the back now   i've already peaked this is your battery yes sir  inverter uh solar charger flex solar panel 100   watt uh-huh so we have some stuff oh plenty yeah  and you're you have it configured where the fridge   is pulling out that side they have their slide out  cooler a nice rack up here firewood and such you   can store it strap anything down up here ac prep  here what is an ac prep that sounds intriguing   i'll show you on this model okay ac prep is  basically allows you to connect a external air   conditioning unit so it's a port into the cabin  that you can you can push the area correct so this   is a zero breeze battery operated air conditioning  unit we manufacture our rooftop brackets ourselves   with a backing plate on the inside also  sandwiching it sandwiches the two plates together   so you pretty much can put put anything you want  up there we custom place them depending on what   the customer wants everything is made to stand  on you obviously put some storage up here you   need a place to stand up yeah and non non-skid the  diamond pattern correct so i see receiver hitch in   the back yes and this would serve as a recovery  point if needed absolutely it could okay as   well as you have some points here oh yeah i didn't  even notice these there's some nice beefy ones too   really nice cabinetry in here that's really  nicely finished yeah we use a birch uv finish   plywood do these go right into the cabin these are  pass-through doors so right now unfortunately they   have the mattress folded up okay but these would  open into the so you can get into your snacks at   night absolutely without having to get out and  through the rain so what we've done recently is   all of our electrical components we're now  putting together clustering it together it'll   be labeled so that everybody knows what  each device is where the wires are going   it helps with troubleshooting everything is fused  and you'll be easily able to remove this panel   set it down here to work on it we have a bracket  here for a hanging table oh that's i was going to   ask you what that's for that is nice in this fig  configuration the customer would have a table here   they would drop the cook stove on up to the  propane and counter space here and counter   space there absolutely excellent so in the extreme  off-road we have an under cargo storage container   lift-off lids plenty of extra storage for  gear and so forth absolutely that's nice   we have a tri-fold mattress most people buy  those it folds out complete you sleep on it   during the day you fold it up you've got a  nice looking sofa there max fan here uh great   fan variable speed kin exhaust can blow in most  people get enough airflow between the windows   and the max fan that ac is not necessary we have  our standard cubbies with doors we also have here   our basically our volt meter a 12 volt plug and  a usb port here to charge phones a potential right   boone stets with rustic mountain over landing we  vice president of sales here for this here trailer   it's a beauty and uh this is the xct the patrol  xct it's our brand new model with the tongue box   up front we used to have the basket on it now  we've got this enclosed tongue box is one of our   featured options for the xct it's a 148 inches  long it's about 1 250 pounds about a 120 at the   tongue so we're rolling on uh timber suspensions  and it's a it's a sweet ride it's got two inch by   three inch square tubing uh 14 gauge steel all the  way all the way across do you make it customizable   or do you does the customer approach you about  what they want on the trailer and you can   make it so ideally we create kind of like the  uh the cookie that you want but then we kind of   tailor it to your needs from there we can work  with our partners like dometic our partners like   overlandish 23 uh 23-0 people like that to really  make it even better but for the most part we kind   of just give you the base bones uh bare bones  excuse me look at that right and then from there   if you truly want a tailor and you want to ask our  advice we can put you in contact with those people   okay awesome awesome well let's take a look let's  take a walk around slide out for your cooler   very nice and we have a dometic slider too  that's a nice that's a very durable light   absolutely absolutely uh bf goodrich um tires we  uh we've always used them they've always held up   great for us maybe overkill on some of it but  we've never had a problem we'd rather you be   more prepared than less yes yes yeah that's a good  point but we've got a obviously a rooftop tent   here on this we run anywhere from 150 to 250 pound  suspension um struts on it super easy for it to   to open even with the camper on top just lift to  the finger look at that that is nice plenty of   storage holy cow plenty of storage and echoes too  echo that's right there's there's a huge amount of   storage there and this is your rack then this is  our rack yep it comes on it uh the ability to uh   put your awning system on it it's got a we've also  got another uh another feature that allows you   to to put an extension on it for awnings for even  me i'm six six tie downs everywhere we've got the   roto packs or not the roto packs the moly boards  uh panels let me get that right yeah you can mount   shovels the yeah your your boards everything yeah  traction boards we've got roto packs we've got the   height here so you can put down put stuff in here  absolutely you could put a kayak kayak in here   we've got a couple people that do that obviously  if you're going to run two you probably want to   put the the racks on top and then you have a  receiver in the back too receiver in the back   standard uh yes okay absolutely because we want  you to be able to carry your step stool we've   even got stabilizers that go in there i've pulled  this one actually through a starbucks parking lot   before there you go so our drive-through it has  a good amount of ground clearance too absolutely   absolutely it's very very robust and then  this is another access to that seam yup   same exact tongue box up front it pulls out either  way very heavy duty hinges that's good to see no   no piano hinges nope those are actually  uh our custom patented uh hinges   for rustic mountain very nice very nice now is  uh lock and roll hitch is that your hitch your   lock and roll hitch um we get all of our hitches  from them that is just one of the ones that we   feel like is the best for what we do they  are a great company they help us out with   with getting you where you need to go with  those uh those hitches awesome well hey   thank you very much for showing us around  this is a very very nice absolutely hi todd maurer with tc teardrop we're out of  wausau wisconsin this is our iso model we're   going after the market of the motorcycles  uh for the dirt bike stuff like that but   yeah and you have all sorts of different models  different lengths weights all that we do we've got   any kind of model you really want it's going to be  this is our only tandem axle one style setup so we   can all the bikes i would imagine yours are very  customizable according to whatever the customer   wants they give you a list of what they need and  what they want and you'll be able to build it for   them yeah we do a lot of customization now the big  thing is too is just match up tires to vehicles   that's one point yes a lot of manufacturers  don't pay attention to that i'm afraid and i   think that's important yeah it's biggest one of  jeeps and toyotas yeah so you so if you get a   flat you can interchange the tires between this  and the vehicle and that is a really good good   point to have that now talk a little bit about  your your frame and the typical suspension you   put under it so our axles are always torsion frame  we run a steel frame well let's take a little walk   around it so here like we were talking about the  availability to put mountain bikes and motorcycles   oh it's so nice to have this i mean maybe we went  after this model just for the motorcyclist now is   this a standard hitch that you use standard hitch  on all of our overland and all of our uh iso and   a4 okay we have 180 watts of solar so we've got  solar up on top and on the front here uh-huh all   this is done in-house so even the platforms for  your for your motorcycles everything everything's   done in-house and what is this thing a vent  so that's the passive air bit and then inside   there's a fan in there yeah notice that and i call  that a moisture control thing because as you're   breathing in the middle of the night it's cold  yes that will draw that era kind of co-exists with   his fans oh yeah i saw the fan in there so these  fans here when it's warm out draws the these   fans are blowing out so it draws the air through  the trailer through the windows uh-huh it draws   here out i like the hot day yeah you want some  airflow turn both these on and you have a shower   yep the eco tip not completely finished hooking it  up we just started this trailer we built it from   last monday and i was working late until tuesday  night this week now back in the galley now i've   i've seen i've i know your trailers well and  this is one thing that really stands out to   me is your galley back here our galley is oh  look at that we've been doing this for 15 years   we want a nice galley yep and really nice  top-notch materials and slides silverware   drawers slides keep your stove there over on this  side you have some electronics down in here our   electronics in this trailer are down in here our  agm battery is actually inside that cabinet okay   keep it inside yeah that's a good  idea otherwise it's up in the front   yeah now does this this pop up isn't it off it  does pop right off yeah it's just a real quick   that is nice and convenient and then mounts for  jerry cans yeah we run the front runner water cans   just because we like that we like having this  dial down on the bottom uh-huh especially for   our dogs they go through a lot of  water speaking of water right there   and for bed size uh what are the options there  anywhere from seven foot one down to six foot   so we've got a big span okay yeah now if uh or about our trailer here   that we have at the moore expo can you tell me  what this one weighs this is a 600 pound trailer   it has a thousand pound carrying capacity so  a 1600 payload so it's a lightweight trailer   and you're just talking about from here down that  doesn't include the tent or does it not include   the temperature okay this is a 100 pound tent that  spare tire is about 30 pounds so the total weight   we're looking at right here is about 7 30. really  600. holy cow you can yeah you can move this   around by hand very easily so we have a building  by page where you can click and build the trailer   that you want okay great that was thank you for  the lead in that's my next one how about options   do you have a list of actions that you  have to customize the trailer you want   this has some cool features this has our  front and back stabilizing jack oh on all   four corners all four corners awesome especially  if you're camping here yes so you're not exactly   and when your dog moves you're not right and i  see uh the mounts down here from your rack it it   slides back and forth yeah this is yep you can  choose in the rail yep another cool feature are   our space bumpers in the back here so these space  bumpers allow you to store your trailer vertically   so get out if you're tight on space so you can  tilt this and it's light enough you could do that   yep two people can't do it on my own yeah  it rests on the space bumpers here excellent   the tongue is bolted on not welded so you just  take that first bolt out especially if you have   the extra long tongue tongue will flip down  and trailer goes right up awesome i like that   well let's do a quick walk around on it um hitch  two inch coupler and that's that's pretty much   your standard that's what everybody's gonna have  on their vehicle to start with anyway so i'm going   to go ahead and lift we have heavy duty hydraulics  and you're doing that all by yourself on my own   we do have a stay rod do you like safety first  uh-huh of course osha might be in the room   there's an aluminum frame inside this canopy  lid it's a gasket lining so it's completely   water resistant water tight excellent now what's  the canopy made of it look quarter inch thick   hdmi polymer this bed is a four by seven  foot bed non-skid marine grade plywood   nice now this canopy is removable it is so you can  use this as more of a utility trailer if you need   it holy cow this is kind of like the multi-purpose  multi-purpose yeah exactly like there's three uh   locking bolts there in the front uh-huh again  two-person job like storing it vertically you're   just trying to lift that canopy off and then  go to the lumber store bring some two-by-fours   home exactly cool i've done that and these  rails on the side more tie down yeah this   helps especially if i'm maneuvering the trailer  when it's unhitched from my vehicle helps if i'm   storing it vertically tailgate does open it hinges  at 90. so it'll stay open here at 90. uh-huh galvanized steel tie-down rings inside the trailer  so we have two models so it's a spring leaf axle   and we have a high rider and a low rider so that  axle's flipped gotcha so one on top and one about   okay so they'll give the other one gives you a  little bit or is this the high one the high rider   so that one's just gonna fit a little a little  lower okay for a little bit more stability yeah   that's a good point excellent this is very  a universal kind of trailer because you know   instead of having to have a utility trailer to  run get lumber for your home and a camping trailer   two in one and you could close us down if you have  children that are misbehaving you can throw your   kids in there they have plenty of room drill a what model are we looking at yeah   what we've got here is the aor sierra australian  off-road this is the first one ever to be imported   in the united states we're bringing them in  100 built in australia awesome make some good   stuff what's the basic weight on this one it's  a lot lighter than it looks it's 2100 pounds dry   really yeah gross is out at about 4 000. what's  the overall length then we're about 14 feet   all the way on the on the length and 85 inches  high awesome what type of customer would be most   interested in this what would they be looking for  yeah if they if they were to focus on your camper   yeah the the market for this is a customer  that's really looking to get off grid you   have a proprietary independent uh suspension oh  independence yeah there's a little shock trailing   arm suspension uh with off-road armor shocks  um and so you're really designed to really take   this off you'll see it here you have a 41 degree  departure range i noticed that right away yeah i   love that propane yeah we have a dual 11 pound  tanks so future models probably come with an   option for 20 pound tanks up here i like this bike  rack system here this is pretty heavy duty and   it looks like it's very versatile and very handy  i like that yeah people always ask what this is uh   it's a firewood rack really allows you to yeah put  your firewood up here even while you're driving   tell us what we're looking at yeah so what we  have here is we have a very configurable kitchen   we have a lot of options for it i like how this  cantilever's out that is really nice it's like   a regular home kitchen where you're you're just  pivoting to the different appliances that nice   big fridge and then here we have a lot of nice  counter space excellent kitchen lots of counter   space some cabinets that open up plenty of room  to store your goods oh yeah nice long cabinet   for utensils uh battery system what do you have  in this yeah so we're running uh 250 lithium   to 150 amp our lithium batteries wow  300 total amp hours and we're using the   redarc red vision system let's go into the  annex here let's see what this is all about   yeah so this is probably one of the most popular  options of this unit because you have this roomy   change room back here a mud room and screen yep  screened in so when you're up north when the   bugs are out you can put your chairs right here a  little dining area you could do that here awesome   very very cool i like that so at night you can  close this up you have the screen that comes down   in the middle and then the blackout shade that  goes all the way up and this is a big ass window   so this doesn't make you feel like you're sleeping  in a coffin at all this is really nice i like that   you set up camp next to the lake overlooking  if you open this door all the way then i see   fan yeah that's a nice feature to have yep  12-volt fan up there plenty of lighting you   also have your rooftop fan the vent up top um  like i said really comfortable bed and you have   access to your storage in the front right there i  see this goes right now you can go right through   you can put your clothes on there and keep it  tucked away yeah it's still more storage that's   again with this unit we have plenty of storage  and then here's our equipment so we carry our   wheel chocks our leveling blocks locks you know  hoses you know uh things like that down in here   now where do you keep your batteries oh let's look  at that yeah i didn't i just thought of that yep   so the batteries the batteries  are stowed in the under bed so we have our full-sized tire extra  storage underneath it here your 250 amp hour   lithium batteries the redarc system your 2000  watt inverter and a water filtration system   we couldn't help but notice we have a  thunderbox you know what you you don't   or you probably do understand how important  this is to some people now as far as symmetry trailers based out of casper wyoming   this is our rover model which is our biggest  model what's the what's the average weight   on this our rover starts off at about 1500  pounds okay and then uh it kind of goes up   from there these are both about 2 000  pounds okay and roughly how long from   from hitch on back about 12 foot okay now what  type of buyer would be interested in this what   what would your buyer be looking for and what  would make this so appealing to him um probably   the biggest thing is longevity um this is  a trailer that easily will last 10 20 years   so it'd be great for a toyota guy exactly  it may last as long as the truck do you   do the customizing or do you make it so the so  it's easy for the customer to do the customizing   as far as putting on tents and and rotopax and all  that stuff i'm a little bit of both uh we have a   very basic model that we can start with where if  it's a diy customer and they want to do a lot of   the accessories later on themselves they can and  be able to come in at a real affordable rate okay   um and then if they're welcome for the customer  that wants it ready to go when they get it   so that's a heck of a hitch you have here yes we  use the lock and roll hitches um we've also put   the max kelp around a couple trailers and happy  with them we've just been really happy with the   logging hole i see a battery yeah we've got the  electrical package in this one we've got a divider   panel up here to kind of divide front and back  um on the other side you've got your electrical   controls we've got lights upper lower and then  also on this one the frame lights underneath   very nice what's your latches on here yeah  we've got the little compression latches on   there lockable latches nice a little bit cleaner  look than the regular yeah the big knobs yeah   and then underneath you've got plenty of storage  and i like this barrier here so you don't have   stuff going forward and back all the time yeah  yeah if you're just to throw a cooler in the back   yeah you have to slam on the brakes you got it  coming all the way forward yeah and propane inside   there yes sir that way nobody's going to mess with  your bottle yep and what's your suspension on this   so we use the timber and hd axle suspension  okay you got the crossbars you got plenty of   tie down points here yeah this one they asked  for the tie-down rails right here you can see   them down in there so you got multiple latching  oh yeah yeah and this will carry a rooftop tent   no problem yeah and what's back  here oh here's a nice little place this is a nice little contraption yeah also if  you've got wet clothing or yeah i was gonna say   some some smelly footwear or something very  nice and two jacks on the back i like that   yep to be able to level side to side yes  and here's the back end of that storage   and receiver hitch in the back yep receiver  hitch is your stock on all of ours and that   goes all the way to the front yes sir yep so you  can use it as a recovery point if you have to   recovery point then also for bike racks anything  like that and another cubby hole over here so   how does a dimensions on this  just the the weight and the overall length so   the weight on this model right here is about 1850  okay 1850 pounds uh the total length temp to tip   is about 14 5 somewhere in there now as far as  customization um do you have like a list that   people can choose a checklist people can choose  from options you can just go on there select   which options you want this is our vega model  and in this model we actually have a more of a   highway model then we have an all-terrain and then  this is our xt or xtreme terrain well let's do a   quick walk around of it since we're here and  the galley is usually the most important part   of because overlanders love to eat if  you look at just this part here this is   kind of our standard galley this is a very  large capacity this is one of the bigger   ones we've seen at the show a huge a huge  countertop here staying in a nice prep space   and then that kind of leads us into our our side  tables or ours and that slides right out of the   side that's right and we can configure that  this is our side table with a stove we can do   a side table with a sink or we have a stove sink  combo and then plenty of cabinetry inside here our standard power system i don't know if we talk  about the power system not yet but let's talk   about it yeah now is a good time as any yeah  so our standard power system would come with   um the light switch and a usb with uh a volt  meter and then also the 12 volt plug there   the other button there is for the water pump and  then the other zamp controller there is for the   solar which is mounted on the galley lid here  excellent and then another table yeah so that is   the swing out tire carrier is an additional option  um standard the xt comes with a full size spare   but it would be mounted on the fender on this side  here we have another one of our slide out options   um this is our pantry drawer what is this like  a linux or a bed liner type yes it is a bad   lighter it's got a really cool texture to it and  your fenders are one of the heaviest duty ones   i think i've seen the roof rack is an option  okay and it looks like it's bolted pretty darn   securely on there it's not just sitting on there  with a couple of sheet metal screws through the   surface your cabinetry comes into the cabin  itself too and tell us a little bit about what   we're looking at yeah so this is our our cabinets  it's our cabinet model we also have a shelf model   which is south of cubbies which is more for  like a duffel bag or somebody camping that way   um this is your power center basically as well  as we have the headboard shelves here for your uh that's a nice little feat and  there's that big fan i like this   the fact that you have a full size and  not just a little dinky dinky tiny fan   nice and you have a shade on your set on your  skylights or windows they come with standard water heater people are really looking for  water heaters now this is mounted in what   like a pelican case on the side so it's all  waterproof weatherproof in there you got a   big box in front what's this all about custom  front storage box you can open it up and show   you the refrigerator it can hold up to a 55 liter  dometic sweet what's in here a nice slider yeah   very nice all the way out somebody if a potential  customer wants to get a hold of you how options in that and and i like the fact  that you have the three tiers yeah that that puts   a different suspension on it i think that's  important i think that's a that's a real good   selling point you have there well thank you very  much for showing us your trailer appreciate it hi i'm scott dixon with two extreme off-road  ins from celina kansas we're standing in front   of our 60-inch high country trailer so what's the  weight and length the a base trailer weighs 860   pounds meaning you can pull it with any vehicle  overall length is about 10 foot the box we have   a 60 inch which is 5 foot long 35 cubic feet of  storage space we all also do a 72 inch that has   48 cubic feet of storage space in your mind what  type of buyer would be interested in something   like this the people that purchase our trailer  they they want something simple there's tons of   stuff out there that has everything on it ours  is a basic model but can be modified with almost   anything and you're not going to hurt the trailer  as far as customization is that something you can   do or do you just leave that up to the that is  up to the specific customer i mean we we do a lid   a rack and a trailer uh-huh and that's that's  what we do well so that's where we stop   there you go you make it possible for them it's  easily easily customizable okay i mean there's   there's really nothing you can do that is gonna  hurt it okay it's all steel it's bolted together   with stainless steel hardware because we have  had people run into trees and things like that   we make every part on this but we can send people  a replacement part unbolted bolted bolt the new   one in place and you're back in business good to  know well let's do a walk around on this let's   start up here in the front each trailer comes  with a cargo rack this is a this is a box we   put on this when there's a generator in it but the  cargo rack you can put almost anything you want in   oh wait there's a bottle opener oh  there's a bottle that's a good touch   we could all use them the the frame and the  fenders are all lined in ultimate lining   it's it's a bed liner the frame is completely  enveloped so there's there's no fear of rust okay   there's tie down points on each gusset  this rear gusset has tie down points inside the the tie downs are on every trailer  that's part of it those are inside every tray lockable tailgate the retrax lid locks also  and so does the hinge lid oh nice very handy we do also offer matching  bolt patterns they come standard with a five   on five jeep bolt pattern but we've had  enough requests we also stock toyota bolt gotcha now you have a receiver in the back yep you  have a receiver there both they it comes with two   jacks there's one on the front one in the back  this receiver tube is actually your hitch tube   that runs the entire length of the solid one piece  excellent so that's a recovery point if somebody   would happen to get a jeep stuck you can hook onto  that and you can pull everything out good good   very good and do you make the the rack we do the  overhead rack okay and and it is not adjustable   but we do offer these are 21 inches tall basically  makes it six foot we we do make one that's 18   inches tall because we've had people put tents  on that were too thick to get in their garage oh   yeah and their hoa won't let them park it in the  street true so that was another thing we offered   that's about the extent of the options cool  well this is a very nice trailer and thank you   very much for spending some time with us today  thank you for showing us around appreciate it all right good afternoon i am tim with uh shug  industries this is an ex-venture trailer that's   the brand of trailer we're selling here and this  is the xv2 which is the larger of our two trailers   what are we looking at right here as far as  weight okay this trailer as it sits weighs   about 250 pounds the base trailer starts at  about 1150 pounds okay so that's pretty light   yeah that's really nice and light uh what's  the overall width on this model or i'm sorry   the length on this model about 13 feet with  the spare tire carrier the width is 79 inches   fender defender okay now as far as options um i'm  sure you've got a website do you have a list of   options on your website that they can choose from  yeah we do um and and what i like to have people   do is shoot us an email because i can send out  a price list that has the different packages we   have three different packages okay it's a base  trailer to it what we call essentials which   has you know like water and propane and things  like that and then the deluxe plus which is what   you're looking at which pretty much is loaded  with everything okay excellent well let's do a   quick walk around um as long as we're here let's  start with the front from the front of the trailer   back i mean we use the max coupler which is a  360 degree articulating hitch this only shows   the trailer side the truck side is on the truck  right right it allows 360 degree articulation   we use uh arc is the manufacturer of this  jack it is a phenomenal it's very easy to   use also has two wheels on it so it's  easy to move around on hard surfaces   now tell us about the storage up front  okay so this front box is standard   uh and again the linex coating is standard  this houses our power control on the left side   which starts with the uh the there's a solar input  goes to the samp solar controller charges the   batteries there's also a noco brand sure charge  unit that's a marine grade short charge unit so   basically anytime you're not using the trailer  keep it plugged in it keeps the batteries yeah   and up to speed this center section is just for  storage so you can you can put a couple of five   gallon jerry cans of water in there put tools in  there whatever you want it's nice to have your   fridge out of the elements like this i think  this is great rubber seal and there's there's   very little chance that water is going to go  back up in there let's walk around this side   your galley i love this galley now talk about  the cooking surface itself the countertop where   how does that work the galley table itself has  two uh bars that slide into uh receivers on the   side of the trailer and then you slide it off you  turn the bars and then it slides into a rack right   here oh okay and then your sink yes the faucet  comes standard and it's just two pins that go   through the fender top and bottom to attach that  and there's two quick disconnects underneath one   for hot and one for cold water excellent this  is actually a chunk of the frames all aluminum   construction and there's no structural welds  on the trailer so these are huck bolts this is   what really kind of sets us apart from a lot of  people because if you have an aluminum frame if   it's welded if there's any flex aluminum likes  to crack uh it's the same construction we use on   our military trailers we've built literally tens  of thousands of the m11 m1101 and 1102 trailers   especially during iraq and afghanistan in  the exact same construction we've never had   a chassis fail excellent excellent to know so  how does a potential customer get a hold of you   uh we have a website goexventure.com that'll take  you right to the website and then you very   much for showing us your trailer appreciate it  that's a beauty i love it thank you appreciate it go ahead and introduce yourself my  name is jen i'm with bundatech usa   we're located in the midwest so a little  town called raymond in the state of iowa   this weekend i've got a trailer that we call  the trekken which is a one-off trailer and   then it features the rooftop tent and the  awning that we import from south africa   it's called the bundu top and the bandu on the  bunda top on the trailer this is the mid-size   called the king it's 82 inches long and 63  inches wide it does have the annex off the   side and then the bunda on is the 2.45 meter which  is the eight foot version wow you do that good so many numbers um the trailer itself is five  by eight i believe it's got a hundred pound   hitch weight so it's definitely more of a light  duty off-road trailer most of our customers are   looking for simple easy and light so the rooftop  tent is all electric so you can pull in at night   just push the button and raise it and crawl into  bed worry about everything else the next day yeah   tent itself is about 160 pounds um awning  weighs about 50. so excellent well let's do   a walk around let's take a look definitely  so um the awning is fully self supported   so like i said this is eight foot awning it's  fully self supported so no poles are needed   they do offer side panels so if you do want to  add a panel we just recommend that for every   panel you add you add some type of pole just to  support the weight the trailer itself is geared   for storage so it's got a pull out fridge at the  back and then gear storage on the inside as well   and then once you get to the other side you have  the annex to actually get up into the tent itself   and like i said the tent is 82 by 63 and then the  annex folds up and stores on the side of the tent   inside the tent being all electric you've got a  12 volt fan an led light a dual usb outlet and   a 12 volt socket wow like a motel room yes  you've got all the power to charge and use   all that stuff that you need overnight does have a  ladder um on to enter the tent itself so excellent   now what can you tell us about the suspension um  so it's a single rubber ride axle it's a steel   frame trailer and then we put a wood frame  top on it with aluminum siding okay great
