it's cold let's go somewhere warm mmm now [Music] now not exactly what I'm thinking yeah let's go there hey what's happening everybody Jamie Fenn here and today I am super excited to show you this brand new watch teleport transition in DaVinci Resolve fusion now this is a bit of an advanced tutorial so I'm gonna help you out and put a link down in the description for some stock footage that way you guys can download it follow along makes your lives a little bit easier with that said there are a ton of you guys who are watching my videos but you are not subscribed to the channel so please make sure to hit that subscribe button if you want to see more videos like this also comment down below let me know what you think and like this video if you like it alright let's get started okay so if you download the clip that's down in the description it will be this GoPro clip this will allow you to kind of get a jump start on things feel free to find some stock footage or whatever to throw in here for the time being just as long as you get some practice now this is going to be pretty heavy on your computer so the first thing I do recommend is selecting all the clips that you're going to use like that and right-clicking with all them selected and generating optimized media so the first thing we need to do is actually set up the timing of our clips so they look like you know I'm swiping between different locations so I'm gonna come here and right when I push my finger on the button that's where I want the first clip to show up so I'm gonna drag in that first clip like that which is this drone shot I'm gonna push D on my keyboard to disable it and make sure that it's here for as long as I want so it may be shorter or longer depending on what your clip is but I'm gonna put the clip to about right here that way when it swipes to the next clip the timing of it will look normal so the next thing we want to do is bring in our next clip because when I go from one to another it'll have some type of swiping transition and then the next clip will be displayed after I touch the hologram bring in this next clip but make sure you put it on its own individual video channel do not drag it down here like that you'll see why here in a second when we go into fusion so again we're gonna time it so I'm looking at it and then I hit you know I swipe and we'll go on to the next clip so it'll hit there swipe bring in the other clip which is this one and then I swipe again and we want to put the next clip here at the very end like so and this is the clip we'll want to go into so you got to make sure there's enough room down here that you don't run out of clip you select the clip and then it zooms in and then we're done so I'm gonna come up here make sure this top clip that we're going into extends over the bottom clip because we want to have enough room to play with this to transition into I'm gonna select B on my keyboard slice it move it out of the way and then make sure all these other clips are enabled right now they're disabled you can see they're a little transparent I'm going to push D on my keyboard to re-enable them then I'm gonna highlight all of these clips right-click and select new fusion clip with the playhead over the fusion clip come in to fusion over here on the left you see we have all of our clips starting with the GoPro clip then the next one the next one and so on but for now I'm just gonna willing to move this over here like that and connect the GoPro clip to the output clip now we're just going to composite layers on top of the GoPro so the first thing we want to do is come to the point of where I press the button on my watch select the median one I'm going to rename it real quick by pushing F to my keyboard and typing GoPro that way we kind of stay organized I'm going to select the GoPro clip hold down shift and press space bar and type in planner tracker I'm gonna hold down command and zoom in with my mouse and select just kind of around the face of the watch I kind of got a little bit of the darker point here for some contrast for the tracker to work you know pretty accurately I'm gonna come up here to the right hand corner of the screen and select this as our reference frame so this is the first frame we're gonna start out tracking from and go forward next I want to select Hybrid Point area then I want to select translation and these are the exact settings that we'll use for each clip because we're gonna kind of copy and paste like the same format for each new clip that we swipe into then I'm gonna click track to end but I'm gonna push the stop button before my finger gets in the way so so actually the tracker stopped tracking because my finger kind of did get in the way and it automatically stopped on its own which is great so now that we have data for our first clip let's come over here to create planner transform on the right select create planner transform and that will create some data for our clip to be attached to I'm going to keep this planner tracker over here just because we're going to reuse it to create data from more clips here in the future so now let's move in this first clip of the drone shot with the grass I'm just gonna connect the merge node down here like that I'm holding shift and dragging it in make sure that this is connected to the background arrow and then our media is connected to the foreground then we want to add the planner transform in between this grass and the GoPro and hold down shift drag it in there and it is a little bit bigger than than what we need so let's add a transform node and adjust the size so hold down shift press space bar and type in transform and now we can come up here and adjust the size to how we like it and we can move it to where we want so I'm gonna move it by clicking on the center piece right here like that and come here and as you can see it's tracked to the watch so now when I move my hand it's looking good all right next we want to make the pop-out effect of coming out of the watch so I'm gonna come to the first frame that this shows and I'm going to click on the median that this represents and up type in grass just so you guys don't get confused I'm gonna select the grass node and hold down shift and press space bar and type in warp and then select grid warp click Add that will automatically connect the node and I'm gonna come over here to the right-hand side and turn down the X grid size and Y grid size and I'm also going to right click for mesh animation so right click on that and animate I'm gonna bring this down like so kind of create that shape like that and then next we want to come over to the transform node and we want to keyframe the size and we also want to keyframe the center X&Y so let's select the keyframe options here like that and like that and let's adjust it to the starting point of what we want it to look like and do someone make it really small like that and then I'm gonna go a few frames and I think I did like eight frames five frames maybe and now I'm gonna readjust it to the size and the shape that I want so I'm gonna bring it back up bring it back up here and then come back to the grid warp node and readjust this so it doesn't look all weird and funky so now as I use my arrow keys you can see that this kind of pops out like that and the size and the grid warp look nice and smooth so now I'm gonna come to the next point of where my finger is out of the way of the watch and I'm gonna do the same thing like we did for this first I want to select this tracker here this is something that we can reuse I'm gonna come up here and reset it zoom in again select the watch some of the band same exact settings as the first one and I'm gonna track forward because now this is we're creating data for the next clip that's gonna show up okay I'm gonna create some data again pops up a planner transform over here on the left I'm gonna keep moving this node over here like that and now we want to bring in our next clip so I'm gonna do the exact same thing like we did with our first node I'm going to connect it the same exact way I'm gonna copy and paste the first transform so it's the same size to this median node and I'm also going to connect the planner transform so it's matched up okay so now what we have to do is actually make it look like we're swiping in between the clips well let's go to the first node that we worked on and we want to first mask the finger out of the out of the frame so it's not behind it okay so what we want to do is click on the merge node and select the polygon tool I'm going to bring it down here so we can see it then we want to come up to the invert button and select the invert option and zoom in and as soon as it gets to be underneath this frame we want to actually just mask it out with our polygon tool just like that and what we want to do is just go frame by frame I'm using the arrow keys on my keyboard to just go over one frame and kind of do something like that and that was how you mask out just that first finger like that so make sure that the mask is not on top of the frame when you don't need it and now we have something that looks like this see how it's on top now we have to animate how it goes to the next clip so click on the grass node and we want to add a TV node so hold down shift and press space bar type in TV by default it has one scanline I just turned that down and what's cool is that we can animate now this thing kind of scrolling back and forth so when my finger touches it essentially so like right there what we can do is keyframe the horizontal the way it kind of like ships it kind of creates like a cool television glitch effect so I'm gonna click on horizontal and since I'm swiping to the right I need to go right after this so I'm gonna go like that maybe just turn that up a few frames and go up into the point where it goes to the next clip and I just keep going with it and so now let's see what happens see how it kind of goes to the next one and if you want to add the TV effect to the next clip as well so it kind of looks like it's scrolling through options or you can make it just go directly to the next one that's totally fine you can just add another TV note here make sure the scan lines are turned it down and then just keyframe the first you know couple frames to horizontally change something like that maybe but make sure you end up on a whole number not like a point something because then it'll have like half the it'll look weird and kind of messed up so this is what we have so far okay so you can actually apply this same exact method to however many Clips you want to include in yours so I'm just gonna kind of jump to the end here and show you how to like tap on the hologram and then kind of get sucked into it so I've already added the last clip here there's also I rearranged the size and I also added the tracking data and I also masked my finger out of it about the greatest mass in the world but it's there and so in order to get like the dent where you're like you're kind of touching it is you actually add a node called dent now I'm gonna come up to the last clip here the median clip I can just rename this girl's and I'm going to click on it hold down shift and press space bar and type in dent now what we want to do is actually keyframe when I touch the video or the hologram and so I'm gonna come right to the point where I do touch it I want to turn down the size and move this so it's underneath my finger I'm going to keyframe the center the type and the strength just in case I want to adjust any of them and I'm gonna go one frame after and turn up the size of the dent and then also go a few more frames ahead and kind of turn that up like that so now I kind of get like that effect like that cool open then once you do that you can come into our node tree at the last one here and in between the merge node in the media out what we want to do is add some effects to the entire composition so select that merge node hold down shift and press space bar type in dent as well and what we're gonna do is create a dent over the whole the whole composition but I'm going to select sign put it kind of like in the middle and turn up the sighs we're gonna keyframe the size of this whole composition warping thing so I'm going to come up and bring that all the way up like so next thing you can do is come to the point where I touched the hologram with my finger and you can keyframe this specific beach shot with the transform node and enlarge it to the point where it kind of takes over the screen so I'm going to click on the transform node open up my inspector and you can keyframe it where once I touch it you can select the keyframe button here and then move to the point where you want it to expand and really blow it up like that and we can come up to this spline and edit you know these uh just to be a little bit smoother and not so abrupt so it's not very linear you know what I'm saying and we can also add some things like glow effects you know we can keyframe some glow effects as I get pulled through or as you get pulled through the transition so turn down the glow to nothing and then as I touch it keyframe the glow so it gets more intense again you can come in here with the spline and adjust the glow so it kind of you know rounds out you can also add whatever types of effects that you want to this actual clip here the girls walking you can kind of like play with like how you want the the transition to happen you so yeah it does happen pretty quickly but what's really cool is you can go in and adjust it you can make this however you want transition it but so here's the reason why I had you clip off that last little section in the very beginning of this video is because now what we can do is come in here and layer this on top or however you want to adjust it and if you want to just do a quick like drag and drop type of thing you can come into the effects library and come down to the video transitions and drag on cut and it'll just kind of like blend the two together as best as it can it kind of works well with the smooth cut it's not super bad but if you want to take it one more step further we can come into this clip here and right click on it create a new Fusion clip and go into Fusion real fast and I'll show you how to just kind of like kind of distort it and make it kind of transition into this clip so we can do a quick transform which we can zoom in start at the beginning of your clip keyframe it so the sides a little bit bigger than normal and then go a few frames forward and keyframe it back to zero so now you have this kind of like zoom out effect as it kind of transitions into this clip we can adjust it with the spline make it really quick if we'd like to kind of do something like like this so we have something like that and then we can also do the dent on this clip as well so just add a dent go to the very beginning make the size pretty big like that I'm gonna put the transform on the other side so the dent is actually being affected by the transform node and select the dent will do no no no the sine one is pretty cool keyframe the size so go in a few frames to where the zoom stops and turn that size back down to nothing it is very quick but you get the idea and this is kind of like how I would go about it what I actually did for the example in the very beginning is I actually just put some other type of stock footage clip of like a wormhole or something and I did exactly the same thing I just drag and drop in between a wormhole the last and final touch what I did is you can do this if you want to it kind of makes things a little look a little bit smoother but I'm gonna drag an adjustment clip down here and then click on it and come over here to the effects click on open effects and what we want to do is add a little bit of radial blur which you can kind of make things a little bit smoother I'm gonna start here I'm actually gonna keyframe the smooth strength all the way to zero as I click on it I'm gonna zoom up and instead of having border type B black I want to replicate and then and I want to keyframe it to be a max potential right there and keep framing it just so the peak of the the strength is right in the middle and then have it tapered down at the end again so something that looks like this it's very linear you can go into the spline and adjust things however you want anyways I hope you guys like videos like this if you do check out this playlist linked at the top right hand corner of your screen there's a whole playlist of all these tutorials and visual effects that I've done so feel free to check that out and let me know what you think and thanks for watching if you have any questions feel free to write them down below
