I like how they had signs everywhere apologizing for the Hurricane. We're sorry we're keeping you safe from this storm. Please don't go outside. We're sorry if risking your life inconveniences you.

My Disney experience (we did the Hurricane fast pass so it was over pretty quickly)

Went to bed at 11pm Sunday. It was a bit windy.

Woke up at 8am. It was a bit windy and 2 (count them! 2!) trees were down in the hotel pool.

Went for breakfast. Went for a walk outside the hotel at 10am. Hair blown slightly. Enjoyable.

Trees gone by 1pm.

Pool de leaved by 7pm.

End of hurricane.

There was an askreddit about how its illegal to require employees to work and somehow disney is running. COnsidering this is the first ive heard of disney operating nobodys upset about being forced to work there at this time. I wonder what the compensation package is or whatever incentives they use to keep employees working during a hurricane.

Wow! Thanks so much for sharing this video!! I have family who live just outside of Kissimmee and they should go to Disney the next time one of these bad boys decides to buzzsaw thru Florida.

Lmao @6:00 there's some parents casually pushing their child in a stroller out into hurricane force winds.

Never change, Florida.

This is something i was wondering about myself, thanks for letting us in on this interesting experience. Once again the disney staff amazed me on how well they treated the whole issue. I wish we could have seen more of the park side in this video though rather than just the hotel, and i also saw Space Mountain with the lights on when i was like 8 because they were doing maintenance or something and it freaked me the fuck out the thing just looks like a death trap. I didn't ride the ride untill i was 15 because of it and due to the fact i was told if you lifted your hands up the ride will chop them off

I live right next to Disney and even though it got pretty crazy we didn't suffer any major damage. I have friends like 1 hour south of us that still don't have power and can't find gas anywhere one full week later.

Meanwhile the majority of my friends and family are still without power here in Central Florida, gas is like gold, every intersection has turned into a 4-way game of chicken, and most cute ponds have turned into mini oceans. It's a good thing this is our 5th rodeo. Thanks Duke!

Burma is where we're watching is where our attention really turns next this is a very healthy very strong tropical storm and it's still strengthening right now wind speeds at 70 miles per hour so four more miles per hour and it's a hurricane in fact it's forecast to become a major hurricane to category three over the weekend this will be a very dangerous storm but we've got big concerns here I mean this is a buzz saw heading toward the northern islands of the Lesser Antilles Florida officials are sounding the alarm mandatory evacuations have already begun in the keys tonight the governor now urging the people of his state the entire state to be prepared tonight long lines bare shelves and frayed nerves as all of Florida braces for what could be the worst hurricane to hit the state in decades [Music] [Applause] what's up guys my name is Jake I wanted to provide some commentary behind this video as I got the unique opportunity to be out Walt Disney world while hurricane Irma struck and as you can see on this day in the Magic Kingdom the crowd level was very very light [Music] [Music] [Music] ladies and gentlemen due to the impending hurricane the Magic Kingdom will be closing at 9 p.m. tonight and will remain closed Sunday and Monday due to these circumstances we are unable to present tonight's performance of happily-ever-after fireworks spectacular we apologize for any inconvenience but as always the safety of our guests and cats remain our number 1 now originally I was supposed to be staying at the Spring Hill Suites resort just outside of Walt Disney World however literally at the last minute on the day of the hurricane striking I decided to book two nights at Disney's Contemporary Resort to write out the hurricane there there's his knees Discovery Island so to write out the hurricane Disney actually parked to monorails and their service trains in the lobby of the Contemporary Resort while the lights remain on in the Magic Kingdom the castle is the only thing that isn't illuminated which I don't think I've ever seen before as you can see in this wide shot the power and force of the wind was getting too seriously strong levels I now needed to cross the walkway back over to the contemporary listen to that Oh God [Music] man underwater this whole stairwell is soaking wet like the walls are soaking wet irma was a very unpredictable storm most thought I was going to go west and just within a few hours of it actually hitting us it decided to go straight through Central Florida at a category 2 level thankfully most of the damage done was only to foliage most of the structures in Walt Disney World at least were not affected at all the contemporary held up very very well and I do have to extend a personal thanks and commitment to the cast members who stayed at the resort over the storm and did a fantastic job keeping people safe and keeping the resort running so thank you very much to those people for the fifth time in Walt Disney World history the parks actually closed for a full day and not just one full day they were closed for two full days one for the storm and one for the cleanup efforts which by the way crews were on the streets and sidewalks and picking up foliage and and removing trees from the roads at an unbelievable rate by the end of the day on this day right here almost all of this was cleaned up which was super impressive and again I got to give Mike my thanks and commitments to the people who who helped with all of that they kept the power on throughout the night which I knew was a huge issue with a lot of Florida residents it was probably one of the one of the safest places you could possibly be in referring to the trial [Music] let's not forget though that this storm was a seriously dangerous and impactful storm for a lot of people in southern Florida and the Caribbean these people have been seriously affected by this storm when it was at a category four and a category five when I experienced it at 90 miles per hour I could only imagine what it was like at a hundred and fifty seven plus I'm going to be leaving a link in the description below for you go donate to a Relief Fund for hurricane Irma I'm going to be donating and I think you guys should too anyway guys thank you very much for watching
