Please note that this website is currently a work in progress! Lots of interesting data and statistics to come.
I like how they had signs everywhere apologizing for the Hurricane. We're sorry we're keeping you safe from this storm. Please don't go outside. We're sorry if risking your life inconveniences you.
My Disney experience (we did the Hurricane fast pass so it was over pretty quickly)
Went to bed at 11pm Sunday. It was a bit windy.
Woke up at 8am. It was a bit windy and 2 (count them! 2!) trees were down in the hotel pool.
Went for breakfast. Went for a walk outside the hotel at 10am. Hair blown slightly. Enjoyable.
Trees gone by 1pm.
Pool de leaved by 7pm.
End of hurricane.
6 min mark is the best part.
There was an askreddit about how its illegal to require employees to work and somehow disney is running. COnsidering this is the first ive heard of disney operating nobodys upset about being forced to work there at this time. I wonder what the compensation package is or whatever incentives they use to keep employees working during a hurricane.
Wow! Thanks so much for sharing this video!! I have family who live just outside of Kissimmee and they should go to Disney the next time one of these bad boys decides to buzzsaw thru Florida.
Lmao @6:00 there's some parents casually pushing their child in a stroller out into hurricane force winds.
Never change, Florida.
This is something i was wondering about myself, thanks for letting us in on this interesting experience. Once again the disney staff amazed me on how well they treated the whole issue. I wish we could have seen more of the park side in this video though rather than just the hotel, and i also saw Space Mountain with the lights on when i was like 8 because they were doing maintenance or something and it freaked me the fuck out the thing just looks like a death trap. I didn't ride the ride untill i was 15 because of it and due to the fact i was told if you lifted your hands up the ride will chop them off
I live right next to Disney and even though it got pretty crazy we didn't suffer any major damage. I have friends like 1 hour south of us that still don't have power and can't find gas anywhere one full week later.
Meanwhile the majority of my friends and family are still without power here in Central Florida, gas is like gold, every intersection has turned into a 4-way game of chicken, and most cute ponds have turned into mini oceans. It's a good thing this is our 5th rodeo. Thanks Duke!
