Captain said he slipped and fell into the lifeboat...wonder if he used the same excuse to his wife about his mistress.

Coast guard dude was rather pissed there with good reason, disgracefully cowardly behavior on the parts of the bridge crew and the captain in particular.

I worked on cruise ships when this happened. I also worked with someone who was on it when it happened in the kids club. Most of the parents did not collect their kids and got off the ship without them. Youth staff took them to a life raft and the parents were already on shore.

I enjoyed this video, thanks for putting it together.

I always wondered some of the details of what the crew and captain were up to during this ordeal. I can’t believe his responses when being told to return to the ship.

16 years in prison hardly seems fair when 32 lives were lost

The song The Ballad of Costa Concordia by Car Seat Headrest is really a great song.

I don't think it's right to label this human error. Error would mean that they tried to do it right but made mistakes carrying it out. What happened in this case was that the captain deliberately directed the ship too close to the shoals and rocks around an infamously unsafe island that's a long known hazard to navigation in an attempt to stroke his own ego in front of the passengers. It shouldn't be excused as an error to intentionally hazard your ship in such a fashion but rather regarded as a malicious act.
