what do you need to install this film from Walmart with only stuff from Walmart that's basically the challenge that I set for myself Walmart has a brand called black magic I have no idea if this stuff is good or horrible they got a lot of stuff talking about it but it comes in four different shades 35 25 and they even go as dark as a two and a half percent which is just kind of crazy this is really just a challenge to try it in my front door and only stuff from Walmart some Walmart's will have a squeegee like this was not able to find any type of window tint squeegee so we had to be pretty creative with what we found but I would manage to find absolutely everything that should be good enough for tinting just a regular door window so starting off we got a couple of cheap microfiber cloths these were 99 cents each we have our film of course this was actually 10 bucks comes in six and a half feet lengths and is only two feet tall so it's more than enough for at least one door window and if there's slimmer doors you might be able to get two doors out of it so that's usually the six and a half foot length the squeegees and the knives were the most difficult part I opted for the flexible tinted spatulas kitchen spatulas but they're rigid enough and flexible enough these should actually work okay I got two different kinds and we're gonna play around with them and see which one is best the knife was also difficult to find I found these in the hardware section so they come in a couple of different sizes in this pack and then they have these for like 50 Cent's so this was like a buck 50 and the individual ones they have for 50 Cent's there were no replacement blades that I could find you would definitely would want to do a stainless steel blade and not not the blade that comes with these these are most likely a carbon steel blade so you could scratch the windows if you're using something like this I would suggest you go to Home Depot and buy like a 10 pack of the stainless steel blades but I'm gonna show you some ways to not scratch the glass or create very minimal damage this is my car by the way so any damage that happens is on my own we also bought a pack of razor blades these were only a couple bucks so if you have stickers or something on your windows you're gonna want to pick up something like this we bought the cheapest baby shampoo you also can use like a Dawn dish soap but different soaps will slip differently we need to put some soapy water on the tint to get it to slide around and get it exactly where we need to in the most squeegee it out so that's also why we got this spray bottle right here this is in the garden section it's a little pump sprayer usually for like weeds and stuff like that the didn't find out until after I got it the sprayer end isn't isn't very good so you might want to use a spritzer bottle but for the sake of not having to fill up a sprayer very much I like these and then we got some bondo cards for the side edges and the last but not least thing is we got a heat gun this is actually the most expensive item out of them this will run you twenty dollars they do have a cheaper heat gun available at Harbor Freight for around like twelve bucks so if you want to save yourself a little bit of cash you can go over there probably can get away with using a hairdryer on your front doors I'll link a video in the description of me trying to use a hairdryer it was enough for the front doors but not like a really curved piece of glass so keep that in mind it's also gonna take a lot longer to do it that's why I opted for this to save some time the total bill for this is right around fifty two dollars fifty two dollars and some change so there's a few things here and there that if you can find them around your house you can save a little bit of money and then also you know your heat gun your sprayer those are some things that are definitely you know depending on how creative you can be you can save a little bit of money by using like a cheap Windex bottle or something you know any any way to try and save a buck in all this because fifty bucks just to try and tint your own doors is really not saving you much money when you're talking about going to an actual tint shop and just having a professional do it they're going to use a much better film they're going to back it with a warranty and they're going to do a really good job so but if you want to just do it yourself get it done now this is kind of what its gonna look like so let's go ahead and get started so I'm gonna tint this window a second time if you want to see the first try of this window it actually went really well it was just very long-winded I can do this definitely much faster so if you want to see a very thorough explanation head on over there I'll have a link in the video description but for those of use that just want to get a general idea of what its gonna look like this is what we're gonna be doing so we're gonna spray off our window I have my slip solution in here already the film happens to be long enough for two windows so that's six and a half feet we are just wide enough to do two front doors on a regular SUV so that's pretty awesome so we're gonna take our snap knife and then we're gonna cut off our extra there's a lot of little steps you need to consider when you go to tin a window I can make it look relatively easy but for somebody that's never done it I highly suggest you check out the full video to give you guys a better idea of what you're getting into before you go ahead and go buy everything so one thing I also learned is that these bondo cards are much better than these spatulas so go ahead toss these in the garbage just you don't have to get them you'd probably be fine with just one of these bondo cards as long as they're really soft these are really really good spray off my window and we need to cut it to size so in order to do that I'm gonna put out just a little bit of blade just a little bit and then we're gonna start with this front edge and we're gonna dig into the film and then just make our one cut and then tear away and we're gonna shift our film over I have a lot more videos detailing everything on my youtube channel and my website so we're gonna make another cut down but I felt like I was over explaining everything and basically all we're doing here is we're cutting the film to be a little bit bigger than the framing of the window because if we cut it exactly we're gonna show some gaps and we don't want to do that then I need to just tack this up to the glass so it's not going to shift on me so we're pretty good right now now we're gonna roll this down now we need to cut our top edge and this is going to be one of the trickiest cuts here so we're going to put a little bit of blade in here and just ride this top edge keep your knife at this exact angle and just go all the way down cool just right like that tear away your extra film so now we need to round our corners and like I said these blades could potentially scratch your windows so we're gonna put something in between the film and the glass to cut on so we're not going to damage it so what you want to do is take like a bondo card or cut on a different surface entirely and you can use the bondo card as a straightedge and just cut away there and now we're gonna basically just straighten this out and round our cut to get this to look all nice and pretty so let's make sure that's straight and that's nice and rounded there so now we need to shrink our pattern so we're gonna go ahead and wet the window again set the film on the glass these things work so much better than those spatulas take our little wagner heat gun I'll have a video below about the hairdryer if you guys are interested in using that or if you have one laying around it is possible it's just gonna take you longer and then we're gonna just use some heat to curl this bottom edge [Applause] because we the film is flat the glass is curved so we need this film to form to the curvature of the glass and then it's jumped to the inside and clean our glass because we're already there you want to spray our window and we want to swipe it off with a one-inch razor blade and as long as you keep the blade at a low angle you're not going to scratch it don't do it at a sharp angle keep it a low one and you're not gonna hear it like scrape along the glass or anything like that so now we need to roll our window down and then do the same for the top this is to make sure it's extra clean it's not a hundred percent necessary to take a razor blade but you do need to kind of rough up and squeegee the surface in order to get a clean surface so now we're gonna actually take our bondo card and we're gonna do some even swipes from one side to the other I also forgot about my top edge so wipe that off too because there's a lot of dirt that likes to stay up there and for good measure because I wiped it off the towel we're just gonna swipe it one more time with one of these guys and then we're gonna flush our side down do another one and then we need to give it one more quick rinse wipe off our panel if you wanna if you're worried about electronics put plastic or something over your panel this is my car it's not that big of a deal you can get the panel's a little bit wet it's not gonna hurt anything as long as you keep your switches covered up you know it's just it's completely fine now we need to peel or tint so the easiest way to peel our tent is to just use your teeth on the corner and just get the edge started and then we're gonna peel it away and just go keep this in the middle straight and go about halfway down on this side and about maybe a little bit more than halfway down on the other side on the long side and we just need to expose a lot of tint to install the top portion of it the easiest way to pick this up is to just pick the film up and run your hand underneath and just pull it up off the glass if you have enough room to leave your door open I suggest you do that that way you're not creating more headache than you have to and then we just want to go from like from here so basically this position right here so both our hands are underneath the film and we can just roll it right up onto the window and get it in place now we need to curl up our film slide it in to one side and then same thing for the other just go to the other side and then we're gonna take our bondo cart and just get this to tack down in the middle now these bondo cards aren't super great at putting pushing a ton of water out so you might need to let it sit here and dry or just try and put a little bit more pressure on it and maybe use a little bit less soap to so it doesn't slide around as much so as long as it's sliding around you don't want to mess with it too much really just get a lot of water out and then let it sit until it's locked in place and then you can roll up with your window so now that my window is sufficiently tacked up to the top it's not wiggling anymore now I can roll it up so now when you take some slip solution some soapy water and anything that washed up with the top of the window or with the bottom of the window and I rolled it up we need to wash all that down and then hold the film against the glass take this liner and just peel it away and then we're in the final stretch so we want to pull this film back one more time and just spray it just a little bit more kind of like these corners that I tucked in I kind of want to make sure those are sprayed off and then put a little bit of slip solution on the film and we need to just curl in these corners here so the best way to do that is pull your film back put some tension on it and then we're gonna pull back our seal with like one of the bondo cards and then roll in our edge I have a video on this that's a lot more detailed and I have a lot of different examples so every car is going to be a little bit different here but that's basically the gist of it so it's called tucking windows in if you guys are interested in checking that one out so now we just need to squeegee out the rest of our window be careful of these corners so if your windows are extra soapy the more pressure and tension you put on these corners when you like swipe back you might end up pulling the film out of the sides I actually did that in my first install with these bondo cards so you might want to chop one of these down to to like be like a triangle last but not least let's take one of these bono cards use it to pull back the seal and then as we do that we're just gonna keep swiping this stuff down and then that's pretty much it I'm really surprised that these bono cards have not been scratching my film definitely recommend these so they put enough pressure on the glass to get the water out you have to go over it a bunch of times but they do work and you know saves you some money and headache I'm trying to find an actual squeegee so just make sure they're clean trying use like the smooth edge on it then we're gonna go ahead and wipe off our panel wipe off the outside of the glass check it over so we can just wipe it off with the same towels that we did on the inside I don't have any little specs to touch up I don't have any fold marks I need to press out pretty happy with this result so yeah that's that's the gist of it how to tint your window using only stuff from Walmart this is basically what you can expect it actually turned out pretty good looks pretty decent I don't know how long a film like this is gonna last but it's if you want to get your windows tinted today now you have an idea of what its gonna be like so thank you guys so much for watching I hope you guys enjoyed again if you want to see the very thorough explanation of how to do everything with the exact same Walmart tools head on over to certified intercom and I will see you guys in the next one [Music]
