i feel like half my life is spent waiting for things to happen waiting to finish high school waiting to finish college waiting for this pandemic to be over waiting for my food to be delivered waiting for my baby to be delivered and finally waiting to be delivered but none of these are worse than waiting for my favorite artists to drop something anything kendrick kendrick this isn't funny man if you're watching this he's a big fan of the channel he's got the subscribe he's got the notification bell on if you're watching this bro it's not funny man i need the new album the last kendrick lamar album came out when i was 19 years old and now i'm about to be 25. i was literally a boy and now i'm a grown man the last frank ocean album was during the obama administration i bet that one of the hardest things for an artist is trying to figure out how to keep your fans fed without over saturating or letting them miss you a little bit without having them completely forget about you taylor swift is able to drop mad music her fans are constantly eating man it makes me want to be a swifty or swiffer or whatever they are i'm tired of being abused out here the last tupac album was like 30 years ago where's the next project mr shakur the clock is ticking quality over quantity is good that's what we need but what if the quality takes so long to release that people start calling you irrelevant or what if it takes a while to release what you think is good but now everybody else is in the comments spamming mid plus ratio plus why be better it was normal to have two years between albums before the adhd tick tock internet age now people act like it's career suicide people act like if you don't drop an album every six months you might as well quit music if thriller came out now people would be calling it mid and overhyped because he waited too long since the last album there's only a few artists alive where the product is so good that i'm willing to wait like half a decade and not even mind and then there's some artists that their marketing teams have to be run by monkeys because what are some of y'all doing that's got to be racist there's no way i got curious i wanted to find out what's the longest weight in between albums apparently this man jack scott released an album in 1960 and then his next album was in 2015. 55 years later frank ocean all right if that's what your plan is man just let me know right now i'll tap out right here to fully illustrate my point i'm gonna make you guys wait for one second because this video is sponsored by scentbird you're probably wondering why i smell amazing right now this part of the video was enhanced with smell-o-vision just scratch the screen and smell me do it go ahead right i don't know anything about cologne how am i supposed to buy a hundred dollar bottle or something and just get sick of it in a couple of weeks with scentbird i've been able to choose a new designer fragrance every month for just sixteen dollars you can take a quiz to figure out what you're into and they'll give you options based on what you like they have perfumes and colognes with like 600 designer brands to choose from we're talking versace okay gucci all right product they come in these little vials with this cool case i got the gucci guilty poor homes made in france and the versace arrows the versace it's got a vanilla mint tonka bean gucci's lavender with a hint of orange flower i'm just kidding i'm they have a car that with describing the scent they also have some niche scents like aqua de parma colonia futura and brioni which i'm excited to try out with each fragrance you get a 30-day supply you can rotate around your smells or upgrade and get two or three different products a month someone saying you smell good is a top two compliment of all time so if you want to try this out you can use my code nathan z for 55 off your first month at centburg also for my canadian viewers this is now available there a okay now back to the video like i said it's rare for an artist to be so good that they can take half a decade off and not have to worry about losing anybody rihanna has a baby now with someone that isn't me and a billion dollar company i don't know what i'm more mad about the music is done for that album is not happening but honestly i'm still processing anti that's one of the few amazing projects of the 2010s where it's like every single time i listen to it there's a new song that's hitting me different listening like are you sure this wasn't added to the album recently honestly it's the same thing with blonde if we're talking about the goat of never dropping music it's gotta be frank ocean they used to be calling me the frank ocean at youtube before i got a little more consistent on this thing you know but blonde was such a good body of work that i'm not even feeding for another project for him even though it would be nice there just aren't that many artists like that i remember when roddy rich was saying that he was doing this this guy was like oh i'm not like these other artists all right i don't drop every week like them okay i'm gonna take my time and come back with something to say i gotta go away and live before coming back and putting it into the music i was like okay roddy i respect that and then the music comes out and it's all about getting money and women like did you need the two years to it's the life you needed to live before you could make these profound statements the album isn't even necessarily bad but he just hyped it up for way too long so people were not happy with it it mostly just pisses me off when we have to get teased when artists type stuff up that never ever drops this is random but this 2088 album has literally been in the works for five years 2016 big sean and janae aiko dropping 2088 sequel next year september 2020 big sean and jeneaico new album 2022 new album coming soon is this a joke either drop the album or don't at least do it before y'all break up this kind of stuff honestly kills the hype turbo graphics 16 new album coming out never mind yandy new album coming out soon just kidding donda won donna down to three that j cole kendrick collab album why why did y'all do that to us it was hyped up for so many years and for so long to the point where now it wouldn't even work and i don't even want it anymore it's just tragic some of these strategies for releasing are terrible silk sonic dropped the first single and march incredible song literally probably one of the best radio songs of the millennium but instead of capitalizing on that hype didn't drop anything for months and then we're saying the album is coming in 2022 and then they were like never mind they brought it back to 2021 and released the same day as taylor swift and a week before adele so the album was only in conversation for like five days by the time it finally came out people were not as excited as they were when the first single drop you think bruno mars of all people would do that better chance the rapper would only release every three years and he was just hyping the big day so much and i've never seen an album literally destroy a career like that before i love my wife i love my wife right after the response to that album he should have immediately put out a couple months later something else make people forget that last project and put out something new and great prove everyone wrong eminem dropped revival worst album cover ever it took me like two years to even notice there's like a face like he's doing this on the cover with the flag that album was panned everybody was hating on it but then a couple months later surprise dropped a new album kamikaze boom made everybody forget about the last album and kind of brought his career into a modern day instead it took him three years to drop the big day now it's been almost three years since that which means it's about to be six years since the last good chance the rapper project people who are 10 years old in 2016 are 16 years old now they probably don't even remember when chance the rapper was ever good this is the artist i want to have a comeback more than anybody but this man's music and release strategy is killing his career back in the day it took me a while to make youtube videos like you think it's bad now it was terrible back then at one point i was in college i basically quit the internet i didn't put out a video for 11 months it's a blessing that any of you are still even here even now it takes time but that's just because i overthink things and i think a lot of artists do the same like scizza control is an album that's honestly so good she could low-key retire just off that album on some lauren hill vibes and the impact from that project would still be felt 10 years down the line but i always see her doubting herself on twitter apparently control would have never even been released if it wasn't for the label just pushing that album out she was afraid to release it and insecure about the music and it ends up being one of the most classic r b albums in the last decade can she see that the people love her we want to hear more of her now her next album has a lot of anticipation around it but the question is why even drop at all when people are going to probably hate on the new thing and say it's not as good as the last thing the more time passes the harder it is because the expectations are just getting higher and higher people are always gonna be like we waited five years for this let's be honest the next rihanna or frank ocean album that comes out it's not gonna be it's not gonna immediately hit we had five years with the last album in five minutes with the new one it's not gonna hit the same i can already predict that if kendrick's next album isn't considered like an instant classic people are going to immediately start calling it mid but he better be sitting on something amazing this man did a performance at the super bowl and did no promotion whatsoever for his own music he's on the biggest stage in america and he's not even teasing anything he treated that like it was some little festival that he had to do it doesn't even necessarily matter how long you wait it just matters what you come back with d'angelo waited 14 years since his last album and came back with an absolute classic he came back in 2014 during all the protests and had something to say adele didn't have any music out since 2015 and she just dropped a huge album but low-key that joint kind of came and went i'm just saying it's pretty good i liked it a lot but nobody's talking about the adele album which is weird this is why some people choose to just over saturate the market instead of dealing with this pressure of coming back with something great after a long hiatus greg i love your music bro but sometimes i wish you would just take two years off make people starve for the music a little bit more this man was on like 50 features in 2020 and 2021 before dropping his own album he hasn't gone a single year without putting out something whether it's a studio album a mixtape a collab album demo tapes just leaks from back in the days he always wants us to remember him and i appreciate it because i actually like all the music but i also would kind of like it more if i didn't get so much of it if that makes any sense another example of this donda 2 why does this exist kanye just six months ago dropped 32 song album we just went through so much with donda one the stress that i endured listening party and thinking the album's gonna drop it doesn't drop another listening party we're tuning in an album doesn't drop another listening party all this stuff all this ups and downs like bro it was a lot and then after all this he drops another 20 song album with just mumbles and this is coming from one of the idiots who bought the 200 stem player months before he even said that the album was only gonna be on this this thing is still pretty cool though i can't even lie even having another listening party again and having the house there and having all the features and new features it feels like we just did this if he waited a year maybe i have no more hype left in my body and with all the antics and the media and all this stuff going on i'm like oh i'm all kanye'd out at this point i can't get excited for a donda 2. i think there's other ways to saturate pretty well though depends on your audience an artist like low baby is literally on every single song but he's doing such a good job that you can't you can be mad ariana grande dropped sweetener and then right after dropped thank you next and that took her career to another level brockhampton literally had a whole trilogy of albums called saturation where they really made their mark by dropping a lot of music in a short amount of time what do y'all think about this what kind of strategy do you prefer what's an artist that is killing you with the waiting let me know in the comments down below you might as well leave a like on this video because let's be real it's already a classic man and i will no longer be the frank ocean of youtube i promise until i don't feel like [Music]
