hey guys how you doing I am Tara Simon with Tara Simon studios and today I'm going to be reacting to Katrina Velarde who is covering and go the distance and this is a Michael Bolton original and I love this song actually I'm familiar with the song and I have heard Katrina once in her cover of the one sweet day which is awesome and we're going to be listening to her live now on wish bus shouldn't very excited to do let's hear her [Music] 1:07 fine [Music] thanks relax for broto very Disney a straight nice [Music] wonderful safar I just wish you would have said go the distance instead of go to the distance [Music] name [Music] Zandar [Music] very nice the Darwin's room this mama [Applause] [Music] we sharp on the No [Music] see it again when I go the distance instead of when I go the distance which I will say this Broadway and Disney are very closely related when it comes to Sonic production when when you're singing and as you want that open vowel you really do she did a perfect job at emulating that Disney sound at the beginning and she's doing a great job still now but they're that pop eNOS that you want to hear in Disney is there but there's also a sense in pop eNOS of I am gonna call them for lack of a better term lazy bowels where it's this stylized I'm gonna understand close my mouth off to be cool and sound cool and and sing those and not thought as an open our mouth and project she's an amazing singer I'm not saying she's too cool for school at all I'm just saying that that's sort of an unintentional thing that happens when you sing a lot of pop and and I just want you to be aware of that so if you're a pop singer and if you're singing a lot of pop and then you go to say a Broadway song or a Disney song you want to be a little more aware of your vowel production and opening of your mouth instead of kind of singing with a more closed off jaw [Music] yeah [Music] yes $30 [Music] [Applause] [Music] yeah [Music] yeah [Music] [Applause] super arse yeah [Music] [Applause] yeah you better smile after that that was awesome okay what an awesome ending note - I would have preferred if she would have just held it instead of going up the run there a little bit maybe she felt the need to move to kind of like refresh the page so to speak but what a long beautifully held note with wonderful breath control you can tell she breathed down where it should have been and then she wrapped it off that breath and controlled it by supporting him squeezing her abs to hold and extend and elongate that note all the way to the end beautiful job I like that she did some things in the song that weren't expected you know this is again a very familiar song to most and you've heard probably a lot of people cover it you've heard it in the movie Hercules you've heard Michael Bolton do it in that movie and she kind of did put her own spin on it especially towards the end right and I really appreciate that you know when you're doing covers sometimes people completely recreate it and that's cool you know but if you're gonna do a cover sort of close and true to form to what it was originally I really appreciate it when singers sort of set the standard of the original melodic line first and then once that's established then they move on into imparting their own style into it and I think she did a beautifully graceful job of doing just that some little you know mouth critiques here and there and and minimal things really but she's a beautiful artist wonderful singer loved her holds and her extends and her her breath control especially she's also a very great vocalist when it comes to riffing and running they're very crisp and clean it almost sounds odd tuned and I know it's not it's it's live for sure and and it's it's very rare that I hear even a question as to whether it's on pitch or not so really really nice job Katrina Vallarta everyone that's her so if you like what you heard please subscribe below make sure that you click the notifications button -
