what's going on guys in today's video we're going to go over to PFI and get the cans degree in with the help of Shane and Shawn so let's swing on over to PFI and check that out turn it over a couple degrees put a Fishman shopping [Music] all right we got the degree wheel put on the crank sounds over here helping us [Music] goofy built so did you make this this wire yeah now that's something Shawn built this wire here I busted out the whole Forge you know and I stretched out the wire really Wow and then I laid it over some copper and they over the top they get all real fancy for you now Chuck some welding wire dan and I bent it up right so we've got the VTech locker pins this is PFI speed not forged in fire in here just on the number one cylinder so we've got this other creation Sean made it's got a it's a spark plug cut off and there's a nut welds at the top of it that's the right thread for this well then when you take this rod and thread that into there you drilled it out that'll give us the true TDC all right so we got the piston stop in and against the piston then we go back and forth correct what are you at there change good job okay so that's at 6:00 and then we go the other direction correct yep well then we turn it basically one revolution around yeah [Music] hello there's a then we're right there jeez Hey yeah yep so 86 yeah it's a different - so I'm gonna be [Music] and then you adjust your pointer so you can have your true top dead that's what Sean's getting done there which so it was eight and six and the rest there is difference of two so then he put it in between there you go to the difference which would be seven in between her 86 right now there so we put it at seven is that right yeah and each each engine is gonna be different correct absolutely okay every cream chat could add some sort of degree or tenth we'd agree off on the key way that changes all of that we're more caring about true piston TDC than you know approximately [Applause] yeah now we're on seven so when we rotate back the other way on seven it's about this pointer comeback coastal area [Music] so now when we take the piston stop out and we're actually flying this up with zero it'll actually be at true TDC in the cylinder because the piston stop hangs down the exact same amount and it stops the piston on the same exact spot both directions so the difference of what it's not going up dead center of that is true TDC we just got it all measured out for that now we can remove the piston stop and start measuring camshafts all right so what we're doing here is we've got it set to TDC so we're gonna adjust the bout last to zero or even just like the three and the two can't fit in there so then it's set to where we don't have any slop because in an even 7000 slop is gonna adjust all your dream [Applause] so we're adjusting [Applause] the valve lash adjusters here and here on the number one cylinder to get those the pull here oh yeah so that we don't have any play fun accent open as far as we're gonna open and then after it's all back together we just put it back to the regular 7 and 9 he clamps down on this little machine dead do you see that yeah loosen that simple enough [Music] [Music] [Music] pecking to down all right and now I'll recheck so after doing a bunch of math when we decide or determine where the where the camshafts need to be adjusted to quit fighting we can do you only time you done yeah and it's never one more so are you adjusting this so that so what we're doing is the overall lift came out or the centerline came out as 101.5 for the exhaust game here 11.5 in Mesa B and 106 so we put it on down here we put it two 101.5 before TDC it's not there right now it was and then we spun we I we loosen these and I held this here mm-hm and we spun this guy to 106 so then this would spin with it it's 106 and then we tighten this back and we just check it all and see where it's at and if it's at 106 then we pull them out locked item and put it back in sweet all right so me and Shawn just got everything all degrees up and I went on the calculator web cams dot web cam shafts calm when you go into their little calculator and you put in this these 31 and a half 99 or 50 60 and 28 those are my numbers that I got as I read we spun it then it came out as 106 which is our recommended center line that we got off of the cam card good so came out on the money and then this one came out to be ninety nine point two five and it was recommended to be ninety nine and I'm that's basically this in there so close okay yeah so we're just gonna I just need to lock tight all these little guys and then we'll pull all this stuff off put our locker pins bet our polar Locker pins out and put it all back together can you explain how these work yes so they have a little shaft in here that goes on the retainer let me see if you can see as I spin it yep the thing goes up and down which changes the degree here and so first you start by you you put retainer you get you make sure this isn't even the valves are moving nothing's the cans aren't pushing on the valves right here so they're all the way up you spin this guy loosen it and then you zero zero zero the gear out and then you'll go on your cam card and you'll find your duration which are duration was 0.5 yep so we put a point oh five point oh yeah point up I so we put it here at at the 50 and then when we spin it over we spin it to that 50 and that gives us so that's your 50 down here mm-hmm and that'll give us our max open once we spin to it and then that'll be our first number then we'll spin it all the way till it passes it and then once you keep spinning it goes back and you did the four terms and then to the 50 again which will give you your clothes they'll give you your max clothes and that'll be your second number which then you take both those numbers and you put them into the the cam calculator on the web cam shafts yep and that'll give you your overall centerline that's how you get all of these numbers here and then you have to do a bunch of math to get your yo and there's a nifty calculator the center line and on the cam card so for these particular cams 99 and 106 or the numbers that they recommended yep on the camshaft card that comes with the games yes we've got all the hard part done now I need to take all the all the gauges off take the locker pins out and then put this thing back together adjust the valves and then this thing can go in the car [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Applause] so close man okay guys I just got home from PFI and Shane and Shawn both helped me get the cams decreed in so the built GS r here is all ready to go to put into the Civic I'm gonna start working on that probably in the next couple of days but that sort of long process is all done hopefully you guys were able to follow along with you know the kind of step-by-step procedure as far as how to get that done I wasn't too familiar with that whole process myself as I had never done it and just wanted to say thanks for watching don't forget to subscribe leave comments I'll check those out hit that like button and thanks for watching and I'll see you guys in the next one
