gee it sure is boring around here so yeah you're right and right I'm really playing this we're going to sit down and actually play it now I don't know if this is a recent thing that CGI emulation has become like more viable but I managed to get this to run doing so it's kind of a nightmare but I go out to run surprisingly and very very tedious process but uh it's better than spending $800 on actual CDI right and hooking up composite cables into you know a capture card and oh but yeah this is the big one gargantuan infamously bad game but it's really bad I guess I'm going to check out the night but the infancy that this game has is quite legendary YouTube poops you know all that stuff you know how can you not quote everything you know octa rocks gee my boy all that jazz so we're gonna play it however you're going to sit here and and experience it all with me you know not just the cutscenes the gameplay and all that yes before we do that I'm going to show you a little bit of a trivia about this game did you know that the animation was outsourced to a Russian studio it was outsourced in fact let me put up my my little little thing here that's right here we go it almost looks like link is like looking like yeah a breeding alright fine that's what we'll do that's what we'll do is like G anyway pair with gsella well Warner gamelan in a simultaneous release link the feces of evil represents the first of the Zelda games to be released by Philips for the CDI following traditional link safe sell a plot line the face of evils patented most close upon Intel's previous side I didn't know it's like people may 93 people like yeah this game is this game is what I'm talking about animated feature like gee yeah yeah wow IIIi thought the most universally slammed upon release but no I guess I guess people did like this back in the day and then people are like wait this is visitors L love maybe that review was like written in in ten seconds back then they look at Fela game and then they play and it's like oh no retract the statement but a gee it sure is boring around here alright so are you sitting down or you're having a good time well that's about to change because we're gonna play the faces of evils now this is this is one of three Zelda games on the CDI and if you're not familiar with the CDI then I guess I could give you a quick history lesson I guess you know I believe it was just Phillips trying to like break into the video game market and the Castella big company they bought licenses from Nintendo which is odd again this is an architectural at all you look it up and you actually might find facts about what I used to understand they somehow got rights to nintendo property and decided to do a Mario game threes elegance and a whole cooking game which I am saving for no hunger Freddie SME Friday but that's another story and that's another stream for now we're going to play the CDI man this day is here it's so weird to imagine imagine if imagine if Nintendo did something like this today like no way Nintendo is sure has changed Oh God alright hang on let me just do this alright now this this process it's a little little tricky I gotta admit sometimes this emulator does not want to work at all as evidence if you're curious what this looks like by the way looks like this it's blue and then it's kind of what it's supposed to be you wait and wait because it's a cd-based system so you know got to sit down and roll of thumbs and and look at that Phillips did compact discs interactive in fact if I had like a Backstreet Boys CD we'd be blasting Backstreet Boy boys but we're going to load up one of these infamous elegance into this and see what happens it's like adding a you know gasoline on fire you know but uh what we have to do is we have to like restart the emulator it's really finicky and it's very uh bad so now I got that we gotta do this where we hang on there we go and then we do a hard reset all right soon soon all will be revealed trust me this took me a while to configure it like did I make this look easy but uh I want to tell you in fact it you know what you know what I say I think I have like hidden knowledge because it's I just experimented with this for so long that I got it to work eventually uh but yeah I might do a YouTube tutorial how to get a CDI emulator work it's a nightmare across me uh just lash with the sword oh god oh god get the power sword button 1 makes it shoot oh the controller down and I crouch okay when I'm crouching you can make me do the duck walk uh can i cool huh no you enter a door in front of it like this now press button Joo luckily I brought my smart sword it won't hurt anyone friendly oh okay it makes them talk dead what is it Oh where's my friend oh I can't even talk oh good buy something from the merchants shop just strike it with the sword it's a smart storage also picks up tools and rubies rubies good thing I have my magic pouch I can carry everything open the magic pouch make me crouch down then press button to forget I can only open the pouch when I'm crouching I choose a tool by moving the highlight and pressing a button once I'm back use the tool by pressing button - I want link to teach matter like make a bomb in real life remember tools can only be used when I'm standing up and you'll find that some tools need rubies rubies rubies sort of look for the special Triforce map in each area you can't I've even know this case spelled like what two new areas and continue your quest in clora die okay let's go find gel de No well that was the help first of all if you've never seen this you must be quite shocked to find out that link talks I mean sure this game broke new ground by having animation but I mean link talks and he's almost like a hyperbole version of the cartoon mercenary excuse me princess the curious boring around someone's not get it oh I just wonder what Ganon's look like I just came again and his minions I don't know I don't think breast of the wild matches up for this my stuff I'm your sword is enough how about a kiss for luck you've got to be kidding Oh honkers I guess I'd better get going okay the map are used to mean I guess they were channeling the the inflection from or the character from the show but just how god I don't even know but anyway we're going to this place so here's the actual game I don't think a lot of people know about the actual game besides all the goofy cutscenes and you might you might realize that your left ear is being sucked by sweet nineties techno okay so yeah this is obviously a little bit based on Zelda 2 but the problem is it borrowed the look but not the gameplay I guess and I mean some of the mosses are here this is like a I guess a Moblin or something not sure I'm in an igloo now can I go inside as I can but uh yeah this game is quite quite good as you know one of the problems with this game too is that you know you can never like fully grasp where you can move and can't move which part of the background you see like sure you see the stairs or whatever but you know you got what I mean though oh yeah I can throw snowballs in this did you know that all right so you gotta press down and bottom - oh yeah that's a thing by the way if you're not familiar what how the CDI controller works it's basically just two buttons it's sort of like a worse version of the the Wii mote I guess uh but alright alright let's go into here alright so what do I say rest of the while or this be honest be honest okay however even though I kind of kind of just rip one breast in a while and I love it but uh you know weird way we are connected because you know breast in a while at the first English voice acting in it well if it wasn't for this game but this absolutely yeah I do however you can play this with your mouse by the way if you are totally feeling like not enjoying video games but uh yeah I guess those are marvelous huh are you curious about what the what the CD icon trouble actually looked like well there's there's a couple there's different ones but I'm going to show you my favorite one the classic could you imagine playing video games on this beast oh oh I never had a hell in one of these but I can just imagine just try to play I've it again with your TV remote and not even like you know in a wiimote sort of joke ish way but I mean like you're you're you know DVD player remote whoo oh I can only be so good um first bottom one or two on this I can't even tell ya those buttons looked like they would like hurt your thumb pressing down you know who a little uh little daggers into your flesh yeah well anyway but I am playing I am playing with the keyboard thank God so enjoy con I'm up sure what I'm supposed to do with this but uh yeah I guess we're heading in here huh okay in a person hey don't do that here's a duck walk by the way hello let me stab you to talk to you areas good news been using this is playing or let it crash good really crude oh no oh it just is awesome play oh it's back again it's good you know what I'm just grateful loves you don't talk all right let me try to get this uh boom Ram guys hey friend it's my smart sword you know maybe I gotta clear out these enemies before I can talk kids I guess okay I place the music it's like semi ok I suppose yeah this character is not even talking I think it's an emulation which it is as I said one of the emulate emulating this game is a nightmare Asus every other CDI game but uh yeah let me let me head up here unfortunately these things cost how much in real life like eight hundred dollars or something like that its fortune to buy um you know I guess the I guess uh hang on maybe I gotta like press it down I'm not sure but uh besides again I'm not sure what's going on the vil this game rarely feels like they they had ten minutes to understand what still love us and just made their own game on top of that I'm gonna let me just switch the window just a little bit good ass backgrounds I mean what else can you say about the it's just so weird of this exists it feels like a alternate universe game that's like pulled out of a different dimension you know what I've here it's playable I suppose it's stiff but uh you know I don't know this game just lives in total infancy during it goes are the cutscenes but all has a key I guess let's down can i oh you got manageable but as soon as they get to attack you with something it's like go over man wait how do I get down here let's just jump for all right hang on let's find out so I go here okay this reminds me of Robocop I used to have a lot of problem oh damn it oh I see okay well that's fantastic is I quite a lot of problems with with Robocop on the Nintendo I could never understand where you climb the an actual enemy from gsella I mean this is at the dango ad still hungry I think there's actually the longest on this game but uh yeah alright here we go oh he's dead no it's just is just a generic god he's not on the same plane as you and to jump it takes like super amount of effort to do it it's so off it some action 52 crap you know you know nothing feels solid everything is just like taped sealant that stayed in they had still rights to this characters which is kind of funny that that kind of makes these games sort of bootleg ish because I'm sure Nintendo didn't want these games to come out but Philip just had them had the license I thought we got to do some with it let's conjure up some crap you know Nintendo flopped them from Sony to Philips hang on the Phyllis agreement gave them permission to use Mario and Zelda and after the CD plans fell through the round with a rabbit the permissions they were given okay so it's basically what I just told you uh it's if it was scraps they had laying in the in the old closet and said I let's bring that thing up we don't know what to do with him but they'll sit somewhere on the wall okay Oh God oh this game is so good all right hang on okay now maybe I can bomb this thing okay well Jesus hmm mommy yeah go on up to this I didn't realize this game was so incredibly hard so that this is a sure candidate for a horror Friday okay no the reason why Nintendo's lawyers is so anal it it's just like they have a brainstorming meeting and they're taking out all these fan games and all these tributes and whatever and they're like well you know we can't have another faces of evil can we it's like yeah you know sent out 2,000 lawyers take everything down which by the way I hate to say this but the breath of the wild NES remake I said game deals with puzzles I guess quasi dungeon logic who are we going to get all this and then maybe go back into the cave there we go just give me all this cool thanks of this game is fantastic you
