Video Texture UI in UE4 - (Simple VHS Overlay) - Fast Tutorial

so you want to add a vhs style overlay in ui4 first create or find an oval layer a black background works best but you can add color key in ue4 material if need be next right click and create a media player add the created media texture to an object in the scene to automatically create a material now create a widget drag in the material to the widget blueprint then set the alignment 0 0 and the scale to 1920x1080 don't forget to set as full screen anchoring as well to get the widget ashore you want to open the level blueprint and create a media player variable and attach our media player to it on beginplay open source the target being media player and the media source is our vhs video this will play the video file after that you want to create a widget with the widget we have created and add to the viewport now onto the material if you pressed update material on the widget once adding to get the correct type of material it should look like the output does here now i'm setting up some multiply variables to control the intensity of the vhs video as well as hooking up the color as an opacity mask if your vhs video doesn't have a black background then you'll have to use the chroma key node now as an added bonus and add a color effect on top to do this in the widget blueprint i just added an image on top of our existing video and then appearing settings under color and opacity i selected the color and lowered the alpha so we can see through that pretty much sums up the video if you want a slower more in-depth deep dive check out the longer video linked at the end of this one cheers you
