VICTORIAN TERRACED HOUSE UPDATE: Our Hallway & Ongoing Work

[Music] hi there hello as promised we want to give you a little update on our house renovation progress I wouldn't call it renovation because it's more the redecoration yeah yeah you're right actually and at the moment we are in our little snug because yoke is going to paint them the ceiling and I will be painting the walls next week yeah hopefully you shoot your body started to paint a comment and this gives you an impression or but color the room is gonna happen yeah let me show you the cabinet so this is the Karen er I've painted this week this is going to be or this is at Mad Bomber was it home at Pomona you know yeah so the walls will have the same color so this used to be we think the people who lived in here before use this as a dining room probably but we love this room because it's quiet it is small but perfect for us isn't it yeah I mean most of the time it's just the two of us yeah yeah exactly it's just a quiet room and there's some footstool we had it from from Neptune someone's ago we chose the fabric and then they we had it made so this East will be the color scheme in this room a little bit and the the lives were here we don't like them so we're going to change these and what else oh yeah you know what I mean you know that we actually talked about getting wall paneling probably next year like a big a Victorian Victorian paneling which looks so nice so something like this we would absolutely love this although the room is small I mean what do you think of this only quite thing isn't it usually yeah I think we all have to get a quote of that and I mean we really love the little fireplace it's just he's so cozy in here and yeah once the room is done I think it will look really nice and I got you know what yard I mean this one had really ugly knobs and I got these ones just last week and I think they will look nice hi Beth hi hi I'm all right how are you getting what you're getting excited about what well that's just a wire ceiling nice yeah but that's just white ceiling I'm not too excited about that more about the rest of the room okay yuck wants to finish they spit today and then it's done with all paper down here in the hallway you remember how many rolls we ordered ten really ten notes I've thought seven I'm not I think that I think several rolls we needed seven rules for this hallway yeah about seven I'm just happy that yoke puts up all the wallpaper because I can't do it I really enjoy painting rules or shells but wallpaper is them it's like science I simply can't do it say yuck is it really hard this one thank you is it why now I mean the wall please the print yeah the print the pattern is um is a challenge but this wallpapers very good quality and that really matters I remember we had IKEA paper more than 20 years ago and it was like it was so thin it was ridiculous but here what what's really important as well is the paste they recommend the Sanderson paste with this one so I will link everything in the description box for you to check out this is the Sanderson paste now this is very glamorous I know but still wearing my tweed skirt very fluffy shoes and socks very glamorous indeed this looks so pretty great we can't get over it you're glad we bought this one yeah it's really pretty I think it's perfect for the hallway yes I think that one nice yeah we should what do you think yeah now they're putting crazy Toria Oh no no no it's completely lopsided yeah ugh welcome to our unfinished hallway yeah it's unfinished but we think we give you a glimpse of it because when you see it I think you get an impression how we want to decorate the whole house yeah I think so too lots of things are still missing but well we love it anyway and so you can see it's a work in progress and that's fine yeah and it's now very much a Victorian style oh yes yeah absolutely okay let's give you a quick tour so this is the entrance and pretty much what it will or what you will get when you get inside and we had the tiles that was something we really loved when it was when we saw it right yeah and we had this one the paneling was painted blue wasn't it yeah yeah and because we opted for this beautiful William Morris wallpaper this one is called and Willow boughs there are several options available I will I will pop the link down below for you to check out in case you want something like this this is something we always wanted yeah very William Morris is a Victorian decorator and when you visit yeah he's he's famous for his wallpaper and textile designs and they are all amazing and you know we have to go to his house yeah in the Cotswolds comes good manner so yeah and because this wallpaper has got a lot of blue in it we thought we would paint the paneling in a creamy color this is at with Alma it's it's cold creamy color actually yeah and then we have those slides we've happened before 20 years yes we have we never could use it making some things wrong we have them but they I think they are perfectly it's like that destiny to end up here yeah and then we we bought this one at the vintage Emporium in Stockport yes and it shows a scene out of a German French war in 1977 it's also Victorian era and then we have a queen in here Queen Victoria yeah she looks nice we believe as pictures dated from 1897 the print is also a hundred years old some thought yet wouldn't like Queen Victoria last week well he does no I just want to if we can place the picture on a proper place yep because we still have so many prints left that need to be framed so you were reluctant reluctant at first and personal with nice divine pictures and then they just would just swallow them away yeah good yeah that was the only thing but now we're really happy that we bought her she's perfect no and she matches the other picture too yes she does so obviously we still need to have a light here and I'm currently searching the web like crazy it's hard to find something that we really like so the search continues and obviously young we want to replace the carpet with some they're all natural yes yeah this one is not really no it's not power whatever not really our style but it's okay for the time balloon but not something we want to have in the long run right now yeah also just put up this nice print that we also got from the vintage Emporium in the stock board looks very nice as you can see the wallpaper ends here but we said that we want to what's the name yard is it hot like wool molding something like that as two separate separate this and continue with paint because as you can see these goes all the way up they actually put a new window up there so we want to paint this wall and the upper hallway as well in a very nice probably in a bluish color from Faribault yeah but we will show you it anyway we'll show you the process of course I painted the front door in a fair and bal color called sulky room pink do you know yeah you know I think it's soaking room pink yeah and obviously I'm also looking for a very nice well coat rack but well what we have in wine is an easy to find so this is still empty we have our hunter boots here we got this console table about I didn't have three weeks ago and we order it from Wilson's yard in Northern Ireland and we said well let's go for the same color as the front door so this is socking room pink as well and this is reclaimed wood which we really like has two drawers and you will probably notice that it doesn't have legs it just has two legs but they said it would be best that way because if they're skirting so yeah that's better and then also this memo board should go here and we are also looking for a a small probably oval mirror but it's supposed to be smaller and a bit more simple so that's not easy to find and we just keep looking I don't know the top is natural wood because we liked it that way and we got this basket and I just got this it came with the border collie head which I really liked [Music] morning everyone so it's Monday morning today and last night we worked until about 10:00 p.m. in this room York finished painting of the ceiling and I prepared everything with the masking tape so I could start with the walls and as you can see I started with the with the Apple bomber paint pomona put on the first coat it's still very very patchy it usually needs three coats to look very nice so I'm going to do that and what I'm doing it I will be listening to the podcast talking taste buds it's a new weekly podcast series in which venetie Faulkner's chats two special guests about their life with food so I haven't listened to that before I just finished listening to the crown podcast which was very very nice so if you're if you're a fan of the crown on Netflix I can really recommend that one because it gives you very nice additional information about well history and stuff very good and if you have a tip for me do let me know because I really like listening to podcasts while while painting while I don't know why preparing food it's very nice so yeah let's get cracking yeah looks already a lot better but the paint is still drying and I'll be applying the next Co tomorrow morning it's a lovely color I have to say I just received the fair and bought sample pot and this is the estate emulsion color ultramarine blue number w29 so I want to give this a try with you and see what it looks like on the wall let's do this so that's it yeah this is the car which looks really nice and I'm taking the smallest brush to try it just next to the wallpaper it looks nice but it needs to dry of course hard to say he's a very nice shape it comes across a bit darker on the screen I have to say but I'll keep you posted on that one of course I mean as I said as Jurgen I said there will be a kind of a warmer molding separating the paint and the wallpaper because it was it would be too much putting up wallpaper all the way actually helped that in Germany in our houses well we separated wallpaper and paint and used a decorative element but here we want to use a very kind of a Victorian element which will look nice and of course would we keep you posted on
