I won't lie...as someone who works in the vfx industry these are some pretty groan-worthy takes. They don't sound like anyone who has actually worked on features before.
This is two artists who have lengthy industry experience talking about the design situation and the temp delivery vfx in the trailer.
I time stamped when they bring up how long a change like this would realistically take but after they go into why the CG looks the way it does in the trailer.
Itβs like when a freshman tries to explain everything.
These guys are insufferable. Maybe I've been doing this too long, but they sound like students trying to flex their knowledge to each other. Most of this stuff is super obvious, but they want to seem smart by throwing out buzzwords. They should know better than to bash design "choices" when they know these kinds of things are rarely the fault of a single artist or even a team of artists. Budgets get slashed, designs get reworked by boardrooms full of executives trying to appease test audiences, and too many cooks in the kitchen can spoil a shot. Art directors can force excellent artists to make bad choices. Also, multiple studios specialize in specific stages such as fur, animation, character design, and FX (fire, water, electricity, etc). Shame on these guys for trashing on people who are just trying to make a living with their art. It's one thing to be treated like garbage by the general public, but to be roasted by others in the same industry is super icky.
Wow, so this post quickly went down in flames..
I had to turn that off - insufferable trio
You freaking can't compare the visual effects in Dragon Heart to the dragons in Game of Thrones.
You're talking about CG effects work that's over 20 years old.
Oh god - I would absolutely hate to be in a room with them.
...I enjoyed the video Β―\_(γ)_/Β―
I gotta disagree with them on the shot of Jon Snow petting the dragon. That shit did NOT look βpretty good.β
