Very good advice by Christopher Lee - not only for actors

crafts for about 10 years and I'd works in all sorts of places all over Europe and different languages singing acting sweeping the stage working in rep working on the theater in other words learning something with few sadly few young actors and actresses up pet to these days so many of them are stars before they even make the first film and you know when you look at them on the screen that they are looking in a mirror absolutely in a mirror and it's beginning of a lifelong romance and their hand is out underneath the mirror out of shot because that's what they want rich and to be rich and famous immediately which is terribly sad and extremely dangerous the most dangerous thing that a young actor or actress and do is to believe their own publicity hmm because shelf life ten years he'll start 20 or 22 two or three or four if you haven't got it if you've got it for the right instincts the right imagination the right powers of invention if you have something behind you some sort of foundations of experience and versatility that's fine you will go on you will last but if you haven't and maturity has not got these qualities and you always play the same part vs girls basically or slight variations on it and that's all you can do you'll be through in 10 years or even five when the public will eventually say well you know they're always doing the same thing in a moment that's that happens is the beginning of the end you start at the top of the ladders anyone where to go well this must have been a concern

I dunno. I really understand the love for Lee, but he did strike me as a man with a sort of delicate ego, and this advice seems more like a somewhat bitter gripe. Doesn't lessen the enjoyment of the man's work or anything, but not really someone I find interesting or rewarding in interviews.

Jokes on him. Nicholas Cage has made a great living. For well over 10 years. I mostly blame my wife for continuously loving his movies.
