Vanlife Nightmare! We Got Scammed

this is not what i expected i cannot believe we've been scammed again we recently bought a campervan from a used car dealer after years of dreaming of one the dream however quickly turned into a nightmare after announcing the van we took advice from the comments to get it independently checked by a mechanic so although our van came with service in mot we're getting a second opinion the guys here are just putting it on the ramp to have a quick look on it and i'm a little bit nervous i have to say like if if anything needs to be done we've spent all our money on the vans we're committed now it's ours so if there's something wrong with it yeah exactly the credit card's there for a reason right and that was the last time we ever saw verge no really like almost like you think i'm joking guys this is um heartbreaking so when they put it up onto the like the ramp thing you knew it was bad when we're waiting outside and they come up and they're like come have a look under here and then as i walk in it was you guys got an mot in service right did you buy it private or did you buy it with a dealer those were like the two questions as soon as we walked in before they showed us anything and we were like yeah that's not good if they're asking us these questions and uh it first started off they were showing us a few things underneath this that's worth taking pictures and we can probably go to them and they can give us some money back to fix these things because it's kind of been missiled yeah by the end of the time that they'd looked at it they said 13 major faults that they said the mot should have failed on they said it should have been condemned on the mot that it only passed two weeks ago it is not safe to drive nope um and basically they would definitely be getting a refund if it was them yeah and it would cost us at least five grand to make this road yeah to like make it all right again yeah for americans and people watching who aren't from the uk mot is essentially a test that was done by garages to confirm that it is safe and roadworthy essentially and you have to have a valid mot to be driving on the roads that car should not have been on the road basically it's so bad that like we would be able to get this mot place shut down uh because it's so dangerous and illegal what they did uh the the gearbox he even showed us like this little bit in the engine excuse my lack of technical knowledge here but he essentially it was held together by cable ties he pushed it and it just popped out and he was like that could happen while you're driving if you're on the motorway or something on the freeway it would just pop out and we wouldn't be able to change gears and we would just be stuck there was stuff to do with the brakes that weren't attached properly there was sprayed on the brake stuff on the wires to cover up the fact that the metal was coming away from it yeah essentially it was a death trap i'm shaking oh hiya i'm calling about um a car that i bought from you i know a couple weeks ago i bought a green vw t4 so we had it um put in for a vehicle check today and they've told us that it should never have passed its mot um and it's actually like 13 at least major faults within it so we've been sort of missiled um and we want to arrange a time to return it and get a full refund yeah that's fine i mean we had a look at it to be fair we had a look at it and there was stuff being held together with cable ties and all sorts i mean it's yeah we'll do okay cheers bye oh god i'm shaking he was trying to say like oh well that's weird because you know it's been for the mot and serviced it and everything and he's just like okay well this will be interesting like but yeah we can arrange the time for you to come back no problem but send me the list of things that's wrong with him oh he knows i can tell he knows on the phone like he was he knows that it's the last drive for the supercar people that are watching these videos can you kind of leave in the comments to other people to know how to avoid this so now we will never not buy a car and not take it to a garage yeah like during the test drive we will tell them look we're going to go give it a once over our local garage from a dealer you know like it's not like a private seller it's a bit shady like it's a a place like with good reviews that that's an established business and they're still selling stuff off like this but it cost us 32 pounds to get a mechanic today and it's potentially saved us so much money so we know we need to do that in the future when we're buying cars is there anything else we need to be looking out for because i guess we're back on the the card we mentioned in a past video that we got scammed last year for an apartment in brighton we put down a deposit we went to go and see an apartment uh it turned out that it was just a scam artist who rents like an apartment on airbnb for a day and then sells it like shows it shows it around and sells it um and that took about six months to get our money back and we did get a money back eventually a year to the day we bought this van and we were celebrating like i can't believe we got scammed last year now look at us we're so happy we can never buy anything in january ever again we've made a pact there will be no big purchases ever made or big decisions ever made in january january is not the month for the beans so i'd like to know in the comments tell us your best scam what's the best scam you've been running what's the best scam you've been scammed by oh jesus when i woke up this morning this thing was ours ours for the next few years to create memories in yeah and walking out the front door seeing it parked there it was like such a lovely feeling we've got this philosophy as well like live the good old days and that is about creating memories and i love that this is just created one of those memories i think they're called like it's a flashball memories where you're just going to remember it forever yeah this is going to be one of those the moment that we realized that we had to go and give it back [Music] we are about one minute away do you feel as sick and nervous as i do not really in that like we know our rights are and he's gonna give us a refund if you must be a dick about it then it could get a bit nerve-wracking but which is not confrontational people anyway yeah we're literally pulling up i could see the garage so um which is that guys okay you're going to be coming sneakily on my phone i apologize for the recording quality because it's just going to be a very sneaky [Music] [Music] and the cable tie for the uh cable for the gear and they showed us if they just touch it the gear pops out and it would just the death trap just character i'll give them i know this footage looks like this really dodgy like watchdog footage like a dodgy car salesman like i'm actually making youtube videos about undercover dodgy car salesman i really wish we weren't i wish we were too oh yeah they just seem like they just want to give us the money so we just leave and yeah don't report them and it wasn't a very pleasant conversation yeah this was salesman number one he is not who sold us the car that guy let's call him salesman number two was coming back to sort out the refund yep so salesman one has just told us that salesman two had had a massive go at the mot people on the phone for people who don't know what a massive goal is that's shouting at them getting angry and as he should because what they did was extremely illegal basically basically their interpretation of what is good and what is not and yeah i mean yeah definitely the stuff they showed us that i don't think that's interpretation between interpretation and competence yeah definitely included in that very harsh conversation on the phone so remember they won't be using this mot center ever again and very very harsh words had been said yes not good for you guys if you've got people coming back no it's good to know that he agrees that it shouldn't have been sold to us and that he would be very angry if it was him but now it's time for salesman number two to enter the guy that sold us the van one week prior yeah yeah yeah sorry about this i checked what you said i mean the end of the day he used to do this and then have a conversation after but obviously i just need to sort of say to one garage but that's what they said that's what they said for that bottom line is if they imitate it and they said it's all fine the other guards don't tell the customers it is not fine um yes he should have just stopped right there because i think if he just stopped talking it just would have gone so much more smoothly so he asked us for an invoice that he provided for us which he never actually provided for us they said they were going to email it to us and they never did but listen to his response it's just so so cringy and embarrassing i love watching him squirm that wasn't an email yeah we never got that from you guys yeah it is what it is at the end of the day oh i see so you're not going to charge us an admin fee for returning the death trap what a legend how kind i don't think for any one minute that there would be anything that would be dangerous what you put on there about the knocking the the bushes on the front if they were worn badly that would be making noises on the front and i asked the chapter during the balance is very noisy they said no at this point he was basically just listing off all of the things that had been written down and saying why actually they were fine and they weren't a problem at all and especially if you just seen how shocked the r mechanics were at how bad this was oh this bit was pretty embarrassing as well it says the worst mot that they've ever seen given yeah i'm just saying but i don't think they would have passed it if those things were structured i mean because you can't pass it but they're so basically inside that at best it's a extremely dodgy mot at worst it's a whole scam not do you remember the first salesman that told us about that really harsh conversation that salesman 2 had had with the mot center put it this way i'll check it myself if there is anything that fascinates shouldn't have passed then obviously i won't probably be using it again obviously probably obviously probably obviously probably probably uh [Music] i'm so confused i thought he'd already had the harsh conversation with him who's telling him the truth it wasn't a very pleasant conversation um yeah it does happen and like i said oh at least get your story straight it's so embarrassing he must have mentioned about 10 times about how he was going to call them yeah even though the first guy had said that he'd already had real harsh words and you wouldn't want to be part of that conversation but don't worry it's not the car salesman who's lying it's all the mot center's fault i normally use it in brilliant there's an empty station there which i got on well with the chat because he's straight forward he's honest but with the others they have overlooked things every time we get on other cars over the years i've used now the trouble is they're always busy in bridges and probably because they are so good what could they possibly do their not center was busy so they instead they're gonna go take it to the one that time and time again we quote illegally pass cars that they shouldn't we thought that by paying that little bit extra and going with a garage instead of a private seller that would be getting some kind of peace of mind yeah clearly not we have learned a very valuable lesson yep made a big mistake that basically always doesn't mean anything it doesn't mean anything no for brits that are watching they all know that like you know the met's a big deal and it doesn't mean anything apparently not so yeah no matter what whether you're buying it privately or from a garage or a trader make sure you take it to get checked before you actually buy it so i know there's a lot of people out there watching that understand cars so they'll be like of course you're idiots but there's a lot of people out there idiots like us that don't know anything about cars and we don't want you to have to learn these same mistakes so can you leave in the
