hi it's marshall from rocket family farms today i am putting in furring strips so we've decided that with these block walls we're going to surface them some most places with drywall some places with kind of a wood slat pattern going horizontally but to do that i needed to put these furring strips in place so that we can attach to the wall without getting into the concrete block so much so how i'm doing this is i'm using two by twos and basically building walls with two by twos on the top they're screwed into the top wood beam and on the bottom and on the uprights they are screwed into the block walls we're using masonry bit masonry screws to screw into the block wall and i have an example of one right here so they're a little over two inches long so they're going a fair distance into that block wall to hold on so that it's solid because this is going to hold up all of the drywall that's on these walls [Music] decided to do this for a couple reasons one is we want our house to look better and feel better with having a nice surface on the wall and we want to have more options than just painting the block two is this gap adds a little bit of more insulation to it we could put foam insulation in here but i don't think that's necessary we're just going to have this air gap in between and i'm doing it across all of the block walls so so far i've done that bedroom you can see it kind of around the window and this wall this bedroom all along it and then i've also done this bedroom here so this wall and this wall i am not doing the closets i'm gonna let the closets be a black wall simply because what's the point it's just a closet so that's what i've been doing lately and i think it'll be a good plan to get that get all these walls covered and insulated and doing it right because i want this to be a nice permanent home for us so we can't really get anything inspected until we put rough in the electrical which i don't know if you could tell that is a bit chaotic still still have to do all of that before we can get an electrical inspection because i have to do a full rough-in i think it'll be a while bab's is hoping for like being in yesterday but it's gonna be a while all right well thank you for joining us thank you for watching and uh subscribe for further videos as we travel along on this house doing everything ourselves
