with the release of Unreal Engine metahumans they have access to the most photorealistic character creator out there unfortunately even after several major metahuman crater updates it still lacks customization options to create a truly unique made of human we don't have options to modify metahuman body and textures to make the human Creator Library consists of generic grooming assets and clothes but sometimes the project requires a specific look I wanted to create my own cyber Viking version of a metahuman so I spent last few months researching and developing a workflow for Indie friendly meta-human customization pipeline I documented all my steps so everyone with the basic knowledge of Unreal Engine blender substance painter and Marvelous Designer are able to follow and create their own unique version of a metahuman I have put all these steps into one easy to follow course we will start with creating a custom 3D face mesh using photo geometry using blender we will fix few problem areas that gives inaccured result results when using mesh to make the human plugin after we will create a new Unreal Engine 5 project and enable all the necessary plugins we will use mesh to make the human plugin to keep our meta human truly unique facial features if you're not planning to use custom face mesh for your meta human you can use any meta human Creator template as your midi human base mesh once we are happy with our meta human look we will import our meta human inside Unreal Engine 5. then by using blender we will sculpt new details to our low poly meta human as we are creating more targets inside blender we are only limited to the fact that the morb shapes needs to align with Unreal Engine skeleton besides that you're allowed to make any changes you want to get extra details for our mesh we will create a high poly version of our mesh as we will be using High poly mesh just for baking we don't need to worry about polycon here then we will bring our low poly mesh into the substance painter bake high quality details and texture paint unique details while it's recommended to help basic knowledge of substance painter I will walk you through the basic steps to help you get started after we are done with texturing we will work on our material and texture setup in Unreal Engine as the last step for the body image customization I will show you how you can create custom grooming assets inside blender once our meta human is done it's time to work on our clothing with the hope to make a human Creator clothing Library will be updated with more clothing options or we will be able to share hours with Community I have chosen to use mixed clothing approach for this course we will use pants and boots from the metahuman crater using blender sculpting tool we will adjust existing meshes to fit our new meta-human body then using Marvel's designer we will Design our custom bomber jacket from scratch once again I will walk you through the basic steps to get you started with Marvel's designer then using your topology we will make our jacket animation ready then once again we will be using substance painter to give unique details to our jacket lastly using blender we will do rigging and skinning for our jacket this step is very important if you want to create your own clothing and accessories that you are able to animate with your meta human finally we will tie everything together to how our own fully customized metahuman that works with Unreal Engine control rig and live link plugin
