hello everyone having come to this new tutorial so today we are going to see how to make a very simple stylized fire in unity so we are just going to make one or two textures one for the frames and one of sparks and yeah it should be very fast so let's do this so far sets open photoshop let's create a new texture file so this is a simple 512 by 512 texture and here as you can see I set up a grid to be divided by y 8 but for and I just want to invert the color so control I yeah that we can start painting out fire texture just create a new layer and then I will start by painting this so what we want first is to have a very simple silhouette of what if we want the fire to look like so I'm not gonna spend most of the story are here I think the texture this one to have some different shapes is v1 and this and then we will simply come out the negative space so I just use my mouth yes here is gonna be a lot easier and let us go up remove the places we don't really once you know fire here if we to exaggerate some shapes this will help a lot decide a stylized side of the effect maybe I don't really want is something like this here just crop shapes here you know and this one be nice enough yeah like this so I mean you could spend a lot more time just trying to refine and find the best shapes you can find here I'm just gonna make this but so maybe ever oops add that this is more have a small difference the shapes yeah here all right so now what we do that if we put this right now in unity it's gonna be very very sharp it could work in some scenarios if you really want super stylized fire this kind of textures could work here I want it like some of my friends say to be sterilized but not too much and still want it to look like normal fire so we are just gonna add a little motion rockets it's what this will do is that it will add some glow around the edges of the texture but instead of using the plastic ocean girl like I always used to we will simply use a motion blur because as you can see here the question Bruce nice but it bursts like it says absolutely everything we don't see ready to the edges of the fire which is a shame so we're just going to use motion graph here so you can still have some sharp edges maybe this will be good now we're just gonna copy all of this under shift C to copy mark channel create a new channel for the Alpha this will be the transparency falters here and then v N or new layer and fill that with white let's just save this yeah let's name it X Y or Y or Z robot starting two bits to save the alpha if user it is it won't save the other okay now we have this we can start making our active system here so simply no fire just to make sure we're just gonna make a parent place so yes fire and this is for it PS or Patrick system correct this one just activate everything is just really the parents so that it says here for us to provision right it's the whole thing okay so you have our but consistent for the fire so what we want now is to create a matinee of this so we're not gonna make a shader answer just let's just use the basic matter yet should be more than enough it's great Matt's fire let's go into particles and first let's go with the Alpha plane here that she finds neutral and let's set that into renderer so of course there's not a cure yet so it's white let's put in Artesia so here you can see where of course we have the four sprites on each particle and we do not want that so we have this can I use the associate animation here let's just say that we have two by two which is what we had to tell earth for tires on the texture and then instead of playing the sheet here as you can see goes from one file to another but just not hey can I say that we want a random between two constant between zero and four so at the beginning of the particles drive it will select between the four texture we have which is what you want if you want something that is more 2d animated you don't want this you want this to be just a curve that goes from zero to whatever frames number of friends you have starts rain okay everything is good and then well we can just change the rest of the pacifist and to make it look like fire so anger I don't know exit five right yes very small bigger here maybe you know you're not that speed you don't want it to be that fast maybe 1.5 should work put lifetime 225 and then the most important thing the Cologne so we're not going to spend or the video on the car or it's gonna make some very simple and here we want this to be faded beginning and fit at the end and beginning we want this to be bright yellow and then fade out reddish colors up to almost black okay now we want the size to change over a lifetime not that traumatically but with multiples five is this okay then maybe that's at some and seniority to this on minus 0.05 let some acceleration at the end yeah okay and now let's add some more rotation because as you can see there or moving at the same way the same rotation so it's always good to have some lucilla randomization random stuff no particles okay why not this is a big to write them so instead we're just gonna try this cuz I don't show you on my ships to be always on TARDIS case so this okay so now this is the real beginning of the fire and this one needs to be a bit darker because now we are going to add some additive elements so renamed is to add and this to alpha and suppress and reciprocate - not real fire seen in this again - alpha and this to add change this to active speed this too bright and full alpha and then let's add this into the veterans add into the new one and the order to one that it shows in front of our F we have two receptacles okay so now well that's a horse way too bright and way too big for the Alpha but we got such that one five less lifetime maybe 192 and not give it together five and yet sure okay that would be a bit my speed okay let's change the Coronel with time here and instead of going from dark I wanted to go to the right okay as you can see that's already looking at least like fire it's not good enough for me definitely not good enough you so we are going to add a glow layer duplicate the other instead of fire let's glow as if we gave the fire rod material because below and let's just take what's name again default particle spray that in start okay so of course as you can see base the edges here so we just have to deactivate it associate animation and make the globe much we go three for info for should work did you know that see wait a bit more speed and of course reduce the intensity here okay and now I want this to be a linear this stitch bright put the bigger pie that's more like yeah now we can be able to sell values here and make this a lot darker that's a lot better to get some nice contrast there and maybe this color overlay and this food and piece this yellow maybe to get some whites in there yeah now this good okay and now what we want is to add some sparks so let's just pick a low one and we name it - sparks yeah white and while this we don't anymore just constant to zero self glow okay the sparks we just want to spawn a lot more of them maybe 50 we want them to be smaller or to start this want them to be at points 15 to 5 to be part 1 here you want them to spawn from a larger area here and let's keep the whole lifetime now also we have access to the noise here so we can try that so now this can take a lot of time to adjust so it just gonna make something very simple just to add some variaty to this but hey this is to be arranged produce I mean what the cone lady a bit more anger it spreads more at the end that much here smaller and maybe half the sparks not grow but instead shrink because what sparks do not grow as they move up and like fire and smoke and here you have it a nice little fire maybe in unity so now I mean I like the sparks but they are big - not to say that - blurred out for me so it just gonna make a very simple small experiment it's just a 64 way at 64 should be more than enough and you just create very simple its power six your meters 10 mixers here all I need is the center and then create another layer and just very happy to be here okay just like that now always make sure what's that you have a use do not touch the edges of the texture so this is fine I can even make it bigger here effect and now just control shift after E to merge everything into one layer and then just add a little motion blur just to one pixel every point five it's just to blow it up now save this into sparks the need of this cause it to be additive so 24 nice and so did you get this sparks and it's here and now it's linked the material into the texture doesn't change much yes it's very just a very simple thing it could make it be more visible here by changing that this and saving and now making this a bit more visible ha now you can see that the sparks have a very bright Center and it fades out a bit at the end I think that's something that's used a lot in stylist games and well I feel it looks right so I respect that and then you can play with all the values to get exactly what you want I mean I always like to have a very bright glow and stuff so you can try that make sure the glow is always above everything right here the other end that IR is - this one is one and the Alpha is be a bit of a thing so the zero sparks they can get one should be fine and yeah I think that's about it so if you have any questions leave a comment or send a message and we'll share this video if it was interesting and thanks for watching bye
