hi welcome to my channel so I did a vlog before about traditional Irish girl names and I was requested to do a video on more unique or uncommon Irish names so I did one on Irish boys already and I'll put that in the link in the description below if you want to link over to that and watch it and here are my top unique Irish girl names the first name is Shay Mishima and it means supplanter or may god protect and is pronounced che ma she MA and it's spelt with the father over the e and a father over the second I Ana father is an accent over a vowel that changes the way the vowel sounds it elongates it and Seamus Sheena is the Irish version of the name Jacqueline and I think Jacqueline is very popular very common name a lot of people would know Jacqueline but che Mishima is not very common not very popular in Ireland it's a bit more unique and I included it because I absolutely love the way it sounds Shea Mishima I think it's such a cool name such a pretty name as well the next name is basil and it means like the wind and it's pronounced BAE Ville Babel and it's got a father over the e so if it didn't have a father over the eat it would be bevel but because it's got a father it changes the F to an a so Bayville so and I know a lot of people are asking exactly what father's do so that's just a little example of how a father can change the way it sends and Bayville was a very traditional old name in Ireland but and I think it's dormant these days I don't know anyone called Bayville so if you're looking for a unique Irish name basil would be a good one the next name is Kayla and it means beautiful or graceful and it can be pronounced a few different ways and depending I guess on where in Ireland you're from you know you have four different provinces and usually names are pronounced differently in each province so I'd go for Kayla just because if I was to read it that's probably how I would pronounce it so if I'd say Kayla but it can also be kala or Kyla there's probably other ways but and I'll just go for those three kala kalah or Kyla and Kayla can actually be a boy's name or a girl's name I think it's more commonly known as a girl's name even though it's not really common at all it's very it's still quite a rare and unique name in Ireland so Kayla the next name is ferla and it means golden queen and it's pronounced for la ferla and it's spelt and Ora is a really popular really common name in Ireland I think we all know in Orla and oral as Orla is spelt orl AI th and Furla is spelt the same way which is the F in front so you think it would be pronounced Borla but it's ferla this name and was first recorded in the 8th century in Ireland so it's a really really and it was hugely popular back then and then they went dormant around the Middle Ages it wasn't very popular all and then it gained up popularity again in the last few centuries and currently its dormant again but if it keeps following the trend of the past then it might get popular again it might become more common but at the moment it's quite a unique name birla the next name is Hibernia and it means from Ireland and it's pronounced I burn e Hibernia and it's not very common in Ireland at all I don't know any irony as it would be quite unique quite rare but I included it in this video because I thought it was really sweet and if you have Irish heritage but you're living outside of Ireland and you're kind of looking for a baby name as a tribute to your ancestral lunch then I Bernie I would be perfect because it means from Ireland so I think I think that's just such a sweet one Hibernia the next name is e salt and it means Irish mythological princess and it's pronounced e salt Isolde an assault would be pretty rare I dunno a nice old so it's not like some of these other names are completely dormant there's none of them in Ireland but I think there would be a few e salts and this name a lot of people might know this name from the old Irish legend Tristan and Iseult it was made into a film with James Franco and a few years ago I think they changed the name to eat ice all day or assault or I don't know there's a few variants of it but I think they did change it for the film but the original Irish way was Isolde Tristan and Isolde would be the Ireland version of Romeo and Juliet you know Ireland's greatest love story of all time on em it's spelled is EU LT and but another variant of it is and to switch the E and the s so IES ult and them but when you do change those around it does change the way it's pronounced on the meaning so assault becomes insult and result means and ruler of the ice so if you did want a more unique version of Isolde than assault would and be good one because is old is really rare the next name is Kenta karna and it means kind ruler and it's pronounced kin to her now kids are grown up and came to Grand I was a saint in the 700s and and she was the daughter of a king of Leinster and legend has it that she married the grandson of King Arthur and we all know you know King Arthur from England we all know the legend of King Arthur so em anyway apparently when her husband died she fled to Scotland and Ireland and Scotland where she lived the life of a recluse and became a saint Saint Kent occur now so I don't know why she became a saint but I assume if her name means kind ruler then it's got to be something to do with she was a kind ruler kids are gonna now is a very rare uncommon name I don't know any kindergartners but and a lot of history to this name came to Grinnell next name is lateesha and it means warrior maiden and it can be pronounced lat viescha or loiza or Leisha there might be more ways but I'll just stick with those three Leticia is the Irish version of the name Louise or Louisa so I think a lot of people I think we all know that name Louise or Louisa but and and that would be quite a common name in Ireland as well but the Irish version of it wouldn't be common it would be quite rare Letitia the next name is right Slean and it means little star and it's pronounced great lean right lean and another way of prancing is you can you can swap the L and the T and it's pronounced rail teen rail team and they both mean the same thing right plane and rail team both mean little star rail tat in irish means star race plane would be quite rare quite uncommon but as i said a lot of these names you wouldn't find anyone in ireland called these names but you would find a few railings or rail teams and although it is still rare I have heard a name pop you Larry as a new baby name so maybe there will be a lot of them in the next generation and but for now it was quite quite rare quite unique the next name is shark and I think when most people hear the word shark they associate it with killer on vicious but the Irish girl named shark actually means love on affection so it's pronounced just like the animal or fish shark it can also be a boy's name as well but the boy's name is the meaning is different when it's a boy's name so the girl's name means love but the boy's name means Saint or black bird and shark shark is a really unique one I've never met a shark before but I included it because I absolutely love it i think shark is such a cool name and very rare very unique and very cool shark the next name is tula and it means princess of the people i mispronounced - ah la to allah it can be spelled a few different ways I think the most common would be to you a th la but you can take out the th or you can put it back in and change the LA - FLI th so and there's a few variants I'll just go for the kind of simple Irish ones - I used to mean a piece of land along with the people on the land so and this area and it's tribe that was what - Ament and then la would mean sovereign or like prince or princess so princess of the people that's where it comes from the next name is very similar to - allowed on its - Lily and it means princess of abundance and it is pronounced to lift Leia tuna Leia or it can be pronounced Tallulah and I think again depending on where in Ireland you are so to lay out or till Allah and this again is a really old Irish name I think it was the name of at least two Irish Saints back in the eighth and ninth centuries so very old and traditional but very rare today very uncommon very unique and a lot of people would know the English name Tallulah and that would be kind of the more modern English version of it so and to the Leia or till Allah whichever you go for next name is Shiva and this name comes from si ma which means C means peace and math means good so it means good peace Shiva I'm one of the earliest recordings of this name in Ireland was in 771 so it's really old traditional name I think the old way it was spelt was and just as the words good peace and see ma but and the modern version is Shiva spells like Shiva next name is Mela and this is derived from the old Irish word for honey which was mill so um it means sweetness Mela it can also mean lightening so I think there's a little bit of a debate of whether it means sweetness or lightening and so I guess it's open to interpretation and it's pronounced math la Mela this name has been dormant and for a lot of years now but back in the olden days it was a very popular choice for holy women in Ireland and there's a theory that this name came to Ireland with the Vikings in the 9th and 10th centuries because it's very similar to a Nordic name Mela so and maybe that's where it came from maybe it's got some Viking in the background of it but anyway Mela the next name is Rhon shock and roan and Irish means seal so roan shock basically means seal and it's Nerone shock rown shock and the name roan shock has been around since early Ireland it's actually the female version of the name ronan on ronan as a really common really popular boy's name in Ireland and but roan shock never got the popularity and never kind of went up there it's always been a little bit more unique in a bit rare and but it does derive from Ronan so and wrong shock the next name is kayvyun and it means fair locks and it could be pronounced either kayvyun or cave in or cave on and I think as always it depends on where in Ireland or from which province this one is a very old name it was the name of a Irish goddess of inspiration and it was also the name of an Irish Fairy and an old folklore legend so a very very old traditional one but really rare really unique today and Cape Ian the next one is arrrooo and it means Irish goddess and it's pronounced a rue arrow so the legend goes that Ireland era gets his name from arrow so she is the matron goddess of Ireland and she is basically Ireland is named after arrow and then a more moderate variant of it is Aaron I think a lot of people would know Aaron and ERI n but the traditional and name was arrow the next name is Lula and it means child with thick hair on this pronounced you la Lula this one has a father so it's Lu fara IL e Lula and I guess this would be a good name if you have a baby full of thick hair this would not work for my kids but with the boy kids were totally bald until they were two so this name wouldn't have been good for them but and I love it it's a cute name Lula and it's very uncommon very unique so that's it they are my top Irish unique girl names and if you have
