and there you the lady spikers shocked the defending champions with a 3-0 sweep to game one of the finals but the game isn't over for the lady eagles more than 20 000 spectators witness the greatest rivalry in philippine sports for the much awaited game two of the finals [Music] game number two of the finals between lasalle and ateneo with lasalle getting a 1-0 inch in this series [Applause] [Music] [Applause] coming from [Music] zero to two [Music] [Music] yes [Music] oh [Music] combination the ladies fighters put up a good fight but the lady eagles got their confidence back to pull away and snatch the victory we are going to a game four three listen to this crowd of course it broke my heart especially the young set points no second set but the girls showed their hearts i'm very happy that you played very rationally they're a very good game and we look forward to the team staying happy again on saturday these girls are something else i'm so proud of all of you we are all women for others keep on doing what you do kill if we're going to win this hi league spikers who will finally take the crowns to game three they're very strong team they're really gonna give their best and we're just really locking uh but definitely on saturday they're gonna go back here and fight to get the ground i'll give presents to all my teammates is animal versus one big fight tell us ladies spikers versus ateneo lady eagles but as a game three of the finals ladies and gentlemen it is what sports fans live for sudden death do or die winner take all and for the volleyball fans regardless of team favorites or affiliation it may not be what someone but it is definitely what we all deserve it is not just an elimination game and it's not just a typical win an advance or win or go home situation simply it is a moment of truth for ateneo and lasalle one last game one last time game three of your uab women's volleyball finals here in a venue where we've seen a myriad of celebrations and a bucket load of tears and today for sure there will be both one more time ladies and gentlemen game three ateneo de manila university lady eagles and the delisle university lady spikers all live on abs-cbn sports and action and in high definition on channel 166 and all over the world via the filipino channel tfc dot tv hello and good afternoon and welcome to this sporting event called game number three of the uav women's volleyball finals alongside three-time champion and two-time best seller doc ian laurel i'm boom gonzalez and of course for one last time we are joined this year by laura lehmann from antenna janine choi from lasalle they're going to be reporting whether they like it or not or one last time today exactly you know it's a perfect storm what's happening today just imagine round one and game one taken by lasalle by a sweep round two game two taken by ateneo via five sets this is the fifth straight year that they're meeting yes they're split not only that this is the first time that we're going to go all the way to a game three in the wallang stepladder format an actual game three do or die it's a perfect situation for volleyball fans and uh just like what you said um you gotta look back four years ago like what you said they have split the championships to a piece to win to ateneo two went to lasalle this could be the tie breaker if you want to call that in with regards to the personalities on these two games it's also their last time to play against each other and probably win a championship that could again give them the edge over their opponent so a perfect storm and no one could have written the script but it's here now and of course it's the fans who are enjoying it right now and you said this is the tiebreaker especially for the graduating players who are part of this five-year journey of course we can probably we will and we can see ateneo lasalle in the finals again in the future but not with the same characters at least yes i know okay they were already almost thinking of raising that trophy because they easily could have won it in the third set right but elizabeth happened again a performance for the aegis not only eliza but we're gonna talk about other athenian players as well not only in offense but in defense and they won the third that fourth set in the crucial fifth set belonged to so it was one of those games that after winning two sets de la salle kind of felt complacent and ateneo took charge took advantage and finally in the fifth set it was ateneo hope revealed in the first set 25 to 18 for the lasalle in the second set 24 20 was uh match points four match points that's right and i thought that was gonna take uh you know uh or take the tempo of the game but actually it went to the reverse ateneo winning the third set 25 to 17. the fourth even more convincingly 25 to 16 and that fifth although it was goes up to eight nine all but after that after the ten point ateneo just pulled away 15 11. let's look at the different departments boom spiking we have 63 for ateneo so that's a very high number against only 47 for the lsl so that's a 16 point difference in attack points in blocking chambray but it's only three points in service aces only one point so 16 versus four points yeah that's a huge huge difference in point production for these two teams the bonus errors were tied at 33 apiece so obviously the offense in this game was controlled by athena right and then the opponents and the of the errors obviously kind of offset each other yeah but when you talk to coach ramil you know he hates the 30s number of errors in the loss in round number two they they committed the 37 seven errors 20 of those from the server exactly so union what we got okay now you and i work game number one and we talked about the different personalities the elizabeth this is but we also did say within that game number one document that this might boil down to the liberos also we did say that yeah very true because like what they say um it's defense that wins championships look at this in dig so this is a these are both non-scoring departments which of course can be translated into points if they do get good plays out of them 64 digs for ateneo only 57 for de l'assad giselle tan who just played started in the second round had 19 of those good digs and 21 for don mccandily he was the best digger for receptions 49 for ateneo and only 47 for the lsl so that's again another non-scoring skill that ateneo had the edge gizelle than having 23 and aragallan not even the libero having 19. so giselle tan if you're talking about the perros he got that she got that award for uh for that game is now we're gonna take a quick break and then we're gonna focus our attentions to both teams let's do that in game number two or in game number one doc elizabeth 18 points yeah nobody else scored the double careers i but in game number two she got a little bit of help she did a lot of work obviously yeah but she got a lot of help and you know what that was the biggest adjustment that i think ateneo had to make us of course but in game two look at this joe maragi not scoring 15 big points 13 from spikes so that's a double digit performance from her beya de leon from the middle outside ferry middle giving out 12 points and two blocks and in another middle attacker giving out nine points to man two from the blocks and three from service asus so these same kinds of numbers ateneo will be needing this for the debut if they want to score another win and grab that championship but joe marigono definitely one of the biggest contributors to uh eliza valdes and the rest of the antenna team in that game and she started heating up when elijah really put on a show from the third sets onward so you see the youngster as great as she is as talented as she is you still see that leader valdes let's talk about setting the man of course very very consistent in that game they needed more variation in their play she needed to distribute it better rather than just go to eliza all the way and that's what she did she had even four points and 70. that's a huge number 70 running sets two different people different place different kind of sets each and every time so giamorado with good rotation good distribution again commanding the offense or being in charge of the offense of athena she has to duplicate the same performance if they want to win this a lot of those sets went to the three-time mvp she got her award prior to game number three and usually doc in any sport when you receive your mvp award sometimes it's a bad omen sometimes me jinx but she had to to do whatever she had to do talking about of course now the three-time mvp and hoping to be a three-time champion you're kind of right after the second set but she changed everything in the third right you know it was again a performance for the ages in game two had 34 big points on player number scored in third world two spikes 32 spikes so that changed the complexion of the game when she kept on scoring even when she was a back row attacker or back row player so talagang what a performance i don't know if you can duplicate it but of course it won't hurt if she does for at the moment yes just to break it down look five points six points first set second set nine seven and seven in sets three four and five for the mvp who has her whole family with us here at the aradeta coliseum and our very own laura lehmann had a chance to chat with them [Music] boom and ian yesterday for our final training i had the privilege of playing volleyball or while at least trying to play volleyball with the team and in return i twist eliza with some beauty queen questions i actually asked her what is the greatest gift she has ever received and why and while many other girls would have answered something material eliza of course answered her family who is here with me today i am joined with eliza's mother her father her tupuya her younger brother and her lola and eliza as we all know is a very family oriented girl and that is all thanks to the people who are standing with me today so um volleyball is i she has shown us all that an athlete does not stand alone but she has her family behind her and she always remembers her family and where she has come from that's all for now well you gotta appreciate you also have to think how what these girls go through in school too in a span of a week you've got three championship matches you know and uh like what you said so the pressure by itself is really really tough for them to handle but still this is the last game you gotta lay it down every uh uh next game so this is very important for these two teams to lay it all down today the lasalle fans have been waiting for us to talk about them and dissect them let's start with the center dokie that's right kim fajardo and uh she's the best setter for season 78 and in the finals game one definitely she took control of that one balika not into game number two this is a loss for the lasalle she had seven points 61 running sets remember gia had 70 so she was nine points or nine running sets try of gs for four months and uh for me fajardo it's also his flat or her last year although they have called first yeah she's going to play officials yes that's what's important for her again so that friendship also is put to the test whenever these finals happen between good friends and between ateneo and lasalle good point and another person that uh [Applause] playing in her last game today um something happened in the third set of game number two she came back up people said she wasn't the same anymore whether it was a timing whether it was but all that has been put to bed already by the lasalle official saying she's good to go there's nothing to worry about and we do we like that because we want to see two teams that go at it yeah the full strength and aragala at full strength is very dangerous and you got to remember she missed out the finals last year so it's going to be such a big blow to de la salle if she again misses this one but obviously she's here she's warming up he's ready nothing to worry about but they gave them a scare in that second set for the third set and uh for aragalang in that finals game to score 12 big points nine from spike's three from asus with a team high of 19 excellent receptions but this depends on again she was subbed out of the third like what you mentioned but came in the fourth and pero natalo foreign but more than the stats more than the numbers or the points from anagan i think it's her leadership that tell us all needs especially in those times on the kahabu and this doesn't come out of the stat sheet or it's not on paper but if someone from de la salle will be leading this team to a championship i think aragallan should step into that role accept it embrace it and give it her best today so having said that dr ian what is the role then of yaya reyes knowing that she's also playing her last game today she came off game number one scoring 13 points tying her season high comes up with a game number two performance of 14 points yes you name bacon season high that's true so you know she she has the attitude coming into the finals and remember in one of the interviews before the finals you're expecting me to change my style the way i the demeanor that i have in the game she won't change it right now again like what you said she's been very very consistent both in game one and game two the scoring she does provide that with 14 big points in that game point eight eight blocks per set she's number one in that department and point five aces per set and he's tied again for number one so definitely mika reyes is right now the pillar in offense for de la salle and like what you said to semigrass she's a tough defender in the middle and again those doesn't that doesn't appear in the statute as well those deflections those blocks even if it gets recovered by the coverage of ateneo but still it's a game changer it's a momentum builder and uh mikko reyes provides that the toughness that the lasalle needs mika definitely has provided someone maybe i like what i said aragala should be the one to really lead this team and mika will be right there with her [Music] you know i actually stumbled into happy they just want to play and give it their best game it's their last and above all they'll miss each other now this is exactly why the girls have abandoned their individual dorms and instead taken that a while back she was only given four months to live and so she decided to end treatment when she did she watched all of the ateneo games and the fight that the girls showed inspired and motivated her every day she too learned how to live heart strong and somehow miraculously survived the cancer and today she is surpassing all of her doctor's expectations her story inspired the girls and reminded them why and how to play they don't give up no matter what and they don't play for themselves but for their teammates school and supporters that's all for now boom and ian the beauty of
