two books read, halloween decor & journaling | HORROR READING VLOG

hello so this is going to be a reading vlog probably over a few days and it's the 16th of october and i'm starting to freak out a little bit because i still have so many books i want to read before the end of the month so hopefully i'll be getting a lot of reading done so literally tomorrow i'm going to spend like all day reading yeah hopefully i can get some good reading done in this vlog so let's talk about the books that i'm currently reading so i'm currently listening to the audiobook for dracula i'm on page 87. i've kind of taken a break with this one because i moved on to another audiobook which is catherine house and that's because i am liking dracula but it's really slow and like i'm not super excited to listen to the audiobook all the time so maybe i'll read this like slowly over a few months or something and read other audio books in between because yeah it's a bit slow like so i'm enjoying it but you know i was looking for something a bit more action-packed so captain house i am on page 203 so you know nearly finished and i'm really really enjoying this this is definitely really interesting if you don't know it's at katherine house which is a university where you have to spend three years of your life completely disconnected from the outside world so you can't consume like any outside media you can't talk to anyone who is outside of the university and anyway so it's really really interesting and i'm really enjoying it so fast so i'm excited to finish it and then yesterday i actually started reading frankenstein by joshi ito so this is actually a collection of horror short stories by jinji ito so the first one is obviously frankenstein and then we have you know quite a few other ones so i only read like a few pages because i didn't have much time so yeah i'm on page 19. but super excited about this one but actually today i'm gonna start reading mexican gothic by sylvia moreno garcia so excited about this book this is my patreon buddy read for the month so i'm going to be filming a separate patreon exclusive spoiler-filled reading vlog for this book but yeah i'm really excited because this is like a haunted house story and it's supposed to be gothic horror which by the way i saw some people saying like this isn't horror but gothic horror is different to like regular horror but i'm really really excited about this so yeah i'm gonna start reading this today hopefully get to page like a hundred october has just been flying by there are still so many movies i wanna watch so many books i wanna read and i just hate how quickly it's going by um but actually i wanted to quickly show you some of my halloween decorations if you've been watching my decorating vlogs you know my house definitely does have the spooky vibes already so you know halloween decorations all year round but i have added a few like things that i probably only have for halloween so i just wanted to quickly show you around which by the way my decorating vlog the next video for my moving series should be going up maybe within a month or something i feel like it's nearly finished but there are still a few things i need to do so anyway i'll quickly just show you okay so i already showed in a previous vlog some of my halloween you know decorations for my shelves so i put up these spooky lights with some spiders on them i have ghost face there probably gonna move him downstairs after halloween i have my pennywise mug but he's probably gonna stay there to be honest like all year round um and then i have a few pumpkins so pumpkin pumpkin pumpkin pumpkin yup here's my tv area so i recently got some stuff from kmart so i got this cute spooky pumpkin that lights up different colors i have this happy halloween candle that i got years ago these lanterns are also from kmart i have this spooky pumpkin and i have these cute pumpkin lights i'll show you what they look like yeah so these lights obviously look better at night but they're just cute little pumpkins and i love it honestly though i feel like it's hard to get cool halloween decorations in australia because people in australia don't get as into halloween i always see people in the u.s posting all this cool stuff that they found at like michael's and other places that are in the us and i'm always so jealous because you guys in the u.s have such good halloween decoration options so yeah i don't really have too many it was hard to find a lot of cool ones but hopefully next year i can order things online and then they'll come here sooner anyway so i also wanted to typically show because i just have to if you know me you know i'm testing rats and unfortunately i don't really have any of my old bratz from when i was younger but a year ago or so i did buy jade and chloe and then i also just bought some other bratz recently because i was like you know what i just want a bratz collection so i bought some second hand ones off ebay and one of them came so i just wanted to show because so this is a baby bratz this is jasmine this is like the one i had oh look how cute i spent so much time playing with this doll and it comes with a little frog blanket and bag oh my gosh i'm so happy right now but anyway i'm gonna go to reading mexican gothic okay so i feel like i need to stop planning these things where i'm like oh my gosh i'm going to spend the whole day reading because it just always fails so it's saturday i was going to do a lot of reading today but it's 3pm this morning i had a patreon live show and that ended up being like i think nearly three hours it was really long it was really fun but definitely longer than i planned usually they're like an hour long but we ended up just obviously talking doing some reading sprints and then we played among us which is really fun so yeah didn't really do much reading today but obviously the day isn't finished i will be doing some reading but i know i'm not going to do heaps of reading like i was planning so i'll probably continue this vlog for a few days but i did make some progress with mexican gothic i'm on page 25. i'm really loving the vibes of this book so i'm really excited but i think now i'm actually going to continue reading frankenstein by georgie ito [Music] do [Music] do [Music] okay so i finished frankenstein and the rest of the book is different short stories but well i just absolutely love the story of frankenstein and i love jujito's interpretation of it like literally obsessed literally literally obsessed five out of five stars amazing yes junito so good so i'm going to continue reading and probably finish all these stories now but wow just well [Music] okay i finished okay i finished frankenstein and so like i said i loved the first story which is obviously the frankenstein story that was five stars and then here are my readings for all the other short stories obviously i liked some more than others but i loved most of them the only ones i didn't like were the last two but those were really short um and those were about like this scary maltese and i just personally don't like scary dog stories especially because it was a maltese and that is scruffy's breed and i don't like any negativity associated with dogs because i just love dogs obviously that's just not my type of horror but i loved all the other stories my favorite was definitely frankenstein but my other favorites were um pen pal i also really loved the strange tale of oshikiri the walls that was like alternate dimensions and having evil alternate selves which is just so fascinating to me so i loved that story and the scary story to me was face family in place oh my gosh what a night man if i experienced that i don't even know what i would do but even though i gave the stories different ratings i'm overall gonna give this five stars just because i really loved most of the stories and i really really loved the stories that i did love you know so five stars so good and i'm so happy i finally read this so i think now i'm actually going to gain a little bit because i feel like going on the computer maybe playing animal crossing or zelda to be honest i've been actually getting over animal crossing so i know i said that because my island just sucks and the thought of like how many hours it's going to take to redo it and make it what i want it to be i don't know if i'm bothered so i haven't decided but yeah i'll probably play zelda and listen to my audiobook catherine house and hopefully finish that because i'm near the end [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so [Music] okay so last night i finished reading captain house and i really loved it the ending definitely makes me understand why people would get annoyed at this book because things aren't really like explained and it's kind of up for your own interpretation but i personally love those stories it's kind of the same thing with bunny i love looking up people's theories online and stuff like that and i just love when the author allows you to yeah interpret it the way you want or the way you think it was supposed to be interpreted stuff like that so yeah i personally love these kinds of stories and i just think this is such a wild ride and i cannot wait to see what elizabeth thomas writes next because i believe this is her first book that's been published and i was actually watching an interview that elizabeth thomas did and she describes this book as a gothic literary suspense story and there's also like a bit of sci-fi in here which i was not expecting but i did enjoy that aspect of the book so if that all sounds interesting to you and you're into like dark academia cult vibes then i definitely recommend it but i can definitely see how some people wouldn't like it but i personally loved it i gave it four stars and yeah this was definitely such a good read so if you have any other book recommendations that are similar to catherine house and bunny please let me know because i'm just so obsessed with these books now like i want to read more so yeah so before i end the video i quickly just wanted to say that i finished the haunting of my mana last night and i loved it i literally loved it so much i was definitely really enjoying it but then those last few episodes where everything just starts to come together and my heart like i literally loved it it's definitely more of like a love story it explores you know yeah love and grief and it's done in such a stunning way and those last few episodes are definitely my favorite i still preferred haunting a pill house just because like i love that show so much but haunting a buy mana is honestly like really close to haunting a field house for me like i loved it and i still i'm gonna give it five stars it was stunning so i hope they make like a third companion series because these people who are creating that show know what they're doing and it was so good so i really hope you enjoyed this vlog i didn't get as much reading done as i was planning to in this vlog but that's okay that's okay hopefully i'll be doing a 24-hour read-a-thon soon and get heaps of reading done in that vlog so that should be super super fun i'm so sad october's kind of coming to an end soon but if you're looking for more content from me i have my patreon always linked below
