Please note that this website is currently a work in progress! Lots of interesting data and statistics to come.
I'm glad they do rigorous testing to ensure safety.
I'm even more glad someone else does it.
Anybody else notice when they zoom in on the spin recovery parachute and it's packed in a Folgers coffee can?
I got dizzy just watching that...
Pretty cool video. Seems like they really paved the way toward safer twin engine aircraft through the use of new wind tunnel technologies they gained access to developing trainers for the Navy
That looks like a lot of fun.
Test pilots are amazing. The real question is, how does that plane lift the weight of his balls.
This is awesome! It is very seldom a manufacturer will put that much time and money into full spin characterization of an airframe. Plus, it looks like a blast! These turned out much better than the other NASA vid of the unrecoverable spin the pilot had to bail out of (I think that was a Bonanza). Thanks for posting. Would love to see more like this. BTW, I own a Bonanza, and do not intend on spinning it.
Damn... not gonna lie that seems very violent and rapid. I feel like Iβm glad I have spin recovery techniques drilled into my skull so that if this ever happens to me that I wonβt just freeze up and be overwhelmed by the fear the situation presents and instead just go through my spin recovery process by instinct like the rest of my training.
Absolutely fascinating - thanks for posting.
Interesting though that every training Duchess I've worked with has a patch on the rudder from where it hits the elevator during asymmetric training. I can't imagine how much airframe flex the spin testing would have produced.
