Tutorial: Building an Advanced Spiral Staircase - Valheim

[Music] welcome to cat Type M gaming it's cat with a building tutorial today is an advanced spiral staircase as you can see on the right we have the spirals hair case and the on the left you see the diverger stairs I want to make a better stare than this this is cool and but it's too too thin and with this you can just walk right on up and today I'll show you how to actually build this [Music] all right this build has two distinct Parts one the center column and then the all the stairs after it all right so let's get built in you first have to start with a iron pole an iron pole and around that we do a bunch of cool stuff we start with every single tick of the every turn you basically set down a new board or a new beam all right now we're going to actually make the center the second part of the center call we do that with using a one of these wooden doors we'll have to zoom in here to show you exactly what we're doing and we're doing only doing every other at this time so you choose the starting one and you have it right like that right like this so it's on the edge so you actually have two steps for two different um extra extra I'll show you where that right now so you have a single step and a double step you're actually gonna put two of them right here then you're going to go with the one meter pole and you're gonna put it on the edge there's the one step out and it's one step back what you're gonna do is you're gonna do this every other of the eight cardinal directions and for all these particular ones you do the two snaps one and two this is actually quite important for uh a step later on foreign you can eliminate all these doors now and you can start putting in more of these center poles and to make the nice staggered looking part in the center you have to put three down the four down with the one meter and then you on the other ones you do sometimes you have to move one put it in the proper place and put the put it back like that all right now we have to actually extend the heights and with the new snapping for the bottom it is insanely easy as you see this makes a beautiful column for the center of our spiral staircase let me stand back and look at how beautiful the column is all right next we are going to extend the second part the second uh rungs out to the same distance [Music] so we're actually going to go a full step with these ones [Music] so I'll show you with you just need one excess so not the half step we're doing the full step we bring them all up to the same length foreign but I designed this in a way to make it very simple to actually do it while your client well it'll work while you climb so bit by bit so you can actually start from the bottom and you can make this as high as you want [Music] all right now we do the full steps all right eventually we will remove all these parts but this is setting up the symmetry okay you see all of those parts are now the same distance now we can start doing uprights make sure that these are on the very end and they're one snap facing the same direction each time [Music] all right so we're gonna leave this one open for now I'm gonna add in an extra a couple beams like this so we have something to actually lay our initial floor pieces on on we'll start with the floor piece by pressing and holding the shift key as you see right here in the corner we're going to line it up so it's barely inside and it's easy just connect it right into the main post all right now here is the key part this second you put a second element or a second floor piece right on top so when you press shift the next key the next floor piece will be directly on top and allow you to make it so it actually can be walkable because if you try doing it at one or higher one lower it will not work if you do it one too high it also will not work so in this as you see we just go around and just snap the pieces right into place you walk around one small click each time of the mouse wheel or whatever you're playing on and just line it up properly [Music] remember to press and hold shift especially around this section because it will snap improperly into the crevice so you have to press and hold shift to make sure that it doesn't improperly snap otherwise it will not um actually the stair will not line up properly when you actually get to the top [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] as you see it brings it directly to almost the two meter height so you can actually go up a little further if you want so right here the two meter would actually go a little bit higher so it goes directly up to the second floor now that that's in place we can actually remove all these excess supports [Music] all right [Music] all right here you go as you see it makes a really nice looking staircase by itself if you want you can actually not even put on the extra shelving you do not have to actually put on a railing that's the proper word the railing for this if you don't want to here's a small key thing that to get up you might actually have to put an extra set of [Music] floor right in front of it be able to get that extra small little pop up [Music] all right so now we have the basic structure let's add in the railing with these new snaps it makes it extremely easy that looks pretty good so far add the up rates [Music] [Music] [Music] and that is how you build the advanced spiral staircase if you want you actually can do something else with this a more advanced technique remove all that if you want to make it wider you can do something like this [Music] [Music] so as you see here you have the ability to make it wider at a whim almost foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] and as you can see you're able to expand this particular staircase very easily to a three wide instead of just a two wide and it still looks really good so that is the advanced staircase extension you go from a 2y to a three wide if you wanted you could even go four wide with this which
