[Music] ah that's funny junior ha ha you know you better get that tractor going if you want something to ride in a tractor show yeah you're right paw you better get it out and get it going for me me it's not my tractor it's your tractor i'm busy i got an rc car race later i can't miss it you don't look busy sitting there playing on the couch oh come on help me out paw okay kids pterodactyl here and this is the mower that junior's gonna take to the tractor show so he's got something to ride around on isn't this an unusual mower this is a 32 inch twin blade swisher ride king and this one's from 1994. they made it with electric start they made it with a little two-speed transmission and for you hardcore brass rats may remember this mower we used it in an old video called the lawn mower whisper where the guy gets stuck on the tracks with this thing so that had to have been geez probably back 2015 2016 somewhere around there so we haven't used it since then but it it ran when we parked it so there are a few things i need to do to it to get it going for that show and the first thing i need to do is wash it before i even put a wrench to it because the thing is filthy and the throttle is broke so we need to fix the throttle and i'll run all new fuel lines and the cable that drives this thing because you push on this pedal and it tightens the belt and that's what makes it move so i need the right i need to make the right cable for it and then probably just you know do the carburetor and put gas in it dinosaur juice and it should run again it's got electronic ignition the oil don't look bad you can still see through it but i think the dipstick tube gasket is leaking but this is a neat little mower it's unusual you don't see a lot of these and you know how you make it go in reverse you turn the wheel all the way around and then you hit the gold pedal and it backs you up then when you want to go forward you turn it back around again [Applause] this thing is weird man weird and cool so we're gonna clean it up spiff it up or as i like to say we're gonna polish this turd a little bit we're gonna polish a little bit of the stink out of it first thing we need to do is wash this turd now i said i was gonna wash it but let's drop the float bowl real quick just to get an idea what i'm going to be in store for stuck on there pretty good there we go oh not too bad give it a good give that a good cleaning too and we're off to the races we're off to the tractor new fuel line new cable new throttle fix the oil leak should be good to go okay i got it all taken apart so i could start working on this thing i got the carburetor off and i did notice a couple of things here this idler pulley is locked up and i tried to break it free but it's locked up so i found this here stuns john deere plastic fully idler pulley that should work and i noticed the chain the chain here is all frozen and loose so i'm gonna put a new chain on it and then it's got a little gearbox on here you know that drives it with the cameraman you can get over here to see it got a little gearbox in here and it tells you to use their special kind of oil so when i was washing it you know this thing was just caked with whatever lubricant they had in there and all the bolts that hold the covers on they're all loose so here's a little fill plug here where you got to fill it up to that plug and i got me a piece of wire we're going to check and i got a feeling that there's nothing in it it's probably dry yeah see it's dry it all leaked out so good thing i checked that so i don't know what that is that they're calling for so i'm just gonna put some double zero multi-purpose double zero this is like a liquid grease as you can see they're calling it a grease multi-purpose extreme pressure grease but yet you can you can squeeze it out like oil it's almost like a gear oil for those of you that don't know so that's what i'm going to put back in it and then i stripped off the uh this throttle on there which i don't even think was the right throttle for it it may or may not have been i couldn't find nothing on the parts breakdown this was the air cleaner they had in it they made this somebody made this out of some piece of foam it's almost like that acoustic foam so i'm going to order a new air filter so i'm going to make the cable now because this is the cable they had on there which they homemade so from the parts breakdown it had these these clamps on here which of course they ran the cable through and the cable ruined it so i got these new ones [Music] which you can buy in our online store so i'm going to put this on there we got these in two sizes 3 16 and 7 30 seconds these are the 7 32nd one so and then this is the heavy duty cable which we also sell in our online store now this is this is the kind of throttle and choke cable that they would use on the old john deeres like the 212s 318s 317s this is heavier and thicker stuff and i'll show you it's like 7 30 seconds it's heavier so we sell it by the foot or you can buy it in a 50-foot roll and we're also going to have the inner wire that goes in there which is 72 thousandths thick this is two 203 thousandths in diameter and we got the the 72 000 inner wire which is a heavier wire and that comes in a 100 foot roll or you can buy it by the foot and then i got me this this repair kit which i get from rotary there's a part number in case you're interested in it and it it's for repairing those bail the bales on the push mowers that you got to pull down the bale so you could start it this is a repair kit you might have seen me use this before so it comes with a length of cable which is a pretty heavy cable it fits in here fits in here nice it's a tick tick cable and then it comes with some universal ends to put on each end comes with these three different ends it looks pretty good now that i washed it so this cable is going to go from here to here that's all we need just this short little piece so i'll put these these clamps on there to secure it once i figure out exactly how i want to position them and one under here there's a mounting point under here and i'll run the cable in there to the spring and then that that pulls on this which makes the belt get tight pulls on this arm which makes the belt get tight so it'll drive and it releases this brake so this is the brakes right here see how when i pull on this it releases this arm which has got a brake pad on it and then when you let off the pedal it comes in and stops this from turning so that's your brakes or this little nifty little 32 inch mower isn't this thing cool here's the hood let's see it's got the gas tank inside there this is a pretty neat little machine i don't really care for that swisher stuff but i like this all right so we gotta do the chain the idler the cable and the carburetor and we should be able to get it to run so here's the carburetor i took it all apart and i cleaned it in my parts washer and turned that fan off there mr cameraman i cleaned it my parts washer because these were gummed up and would not move this one's still a little gummy so i washed it i sprayed it down with some carb cleaner and now i want to put in my ultrasonic cleaner and clean the nozzle and all these parts the needle was shot i'll put a new needle in it the way the tip's coming off so just a couple little tips for y'all because i had to remove the center nozzle and sometimes these can be stuck in there so what i did is i took my propane torch and i heated up this leg you can see it's a little discolored now you got to be careful because this is aluminium and if you heat it up too much you'll melt the carbotrader and you'll ruin it so i warmed it up a little bit with the torch and then i took some wd-40 and i sprayed it on there so it can kind of creep in now on this particular carburetor this briggs carburetor the threads for this 5 16 24 it's just a 5 16 fine thread tap so i kind of ran it in there up to the nozzle because this is a bottoming tab that i use so that way these these treads that hold the float bowl on are kind of cleared out and then you got to get a good screwdriver a good square screwdriver that fits in there this is the actual briggs and scratton one for removing these nozzles this is real old it's got to be from the seven 1970s that i've had forever and then i put a lot of pressure on it and from that heat and that wd-40 i was able to break it loose and i worked it back and forth and i got the nozzle out otherwise you got to drill it out then you got to chase it then you gotta buy a new nozzle and then after i got it out i just kind of chased it out with the tap so now when i go to put this back in see it screws in there nice and easy peasy and then right here is a the low speed pilot jet i took that out so that's going to have to be soaked and i'll run wires through it and it also had an adjusting screw so we can adjust the low speed so i take all that out and now we'll put it in ultrasonic cleaner i'll put a new needle in it new float bowl gasket put it all together i'll put it on my test stand make sure the needle and seat don't leak we'll stick it back on the ride king and uh junior will be riding like a king so we like this we're probably wearing a crown riding around on that thing like a king well i got it all back together got my new clutch cable installed put my new pulley on fill the gearbox put the new chain on brand new fuel line added an inline shutoff valve and a fuel filter and then i was trying to figure out where i was going to mount that throttle because i looked in the in the manual and there was it didn't show the throttle anywhere so i got a bin an old bin a throttle cable look at all that i got from my brother farrell all kinds of throttle tables for all kind of mowers over the years so i picked this one here and i ran it around so i thought this would be a good spot right between your legs so now we're getting full choke we can idle it down now another thing i discovered is these little pins here are shock absorbers there's springs in there and they look like they're froze they might be so i got a hammer my rawhide hammer i'm gonna see if they're stuck or not oh no no they're not stuck they just look rusty so i'm gonna spray some gel lube on there to lubricate them and we sell this in our online store this is good stuff i'll spray some of that on there and then i'll spray some on the outside of the conduit of my new clutch cable lubricate that let that soak in oh yeah and then when my air filter comes i'll put the air filter cover back on i ordered a new air filter i put a new seal in there so in order to get this thing to freewheel watch yourself mr cameraman there's a little latch here on the front wheel and you kick that you lock that latch out and it'll freewheel and then when you want to engage it you roll it and then it locks in all right so now we're ready to as you know what that guy says [Music] and then we might have to tune the carburetor because i got the carburetor all back on come over here there we go [Applause] [Music] now i may have to tweak it again once i put the air cleaner back on all right let's see if everything worked i know right so key switch works doesn't go very fast but we could we could do something to that in the future so we got the ride king going well let me go get junior now and let him know that his ride is ready for the tractor show that we're going to it's coming up here pretty soon now he got something to ride around the tractor show with [Music] junior huh you're back from your race yeah how'd you do i got eight eight oh that that's not bad out of how many cars eight oh well if you're not first here your majesty yo moa is ready ah why thank you peasant has it it looks great paw looks like it's fit for a king or should i say built for a king i don't know if it's fit for a game you're kind of big well it's going to have to do it's royalty it's the ride king we'll fire it up yeah hopefully it runs like royalty all right let's see turn the key joker there uh [Music] that's good ah great job
