Turbo Diesel Ramp Truck Road Trip Pt.2: Truckstop Aliens and drag boats-Finnegan's Garage Ep.143

trip is brought to you by wirecare okay here's the plan now that we're here in arizona we need to pick up two different boats get them attached and inside of lincoln hawk and drive all the way back home now this is a little complicated the first boat is a 1976 rogers bonneville tr which will not fit inside of lincoln hawk because the trailer is too wide enter coco peli trailers my friend matt ringer's company which specializes in building aluminum boat trailers he is going to build a small dolly trailer which is a trailer that rides on golf cart wheels and tires we'll put the rogers on that we'll winch the rogers inside of lincoln hawk and while that's happening i am going to drive from arizona back to california pick up a mystery boat bring it back to arizona and hitch it to the back of lincoln hawk once all of this is done we then road trip all the way back home to georgia simple right [Music] our windshield's really dirty the thing the thing is it like a giant gas station or something do you have no idea no oh dude where do i see the thing the signs are really faded i saw the thing in 2000 when i drove cross country with my ex-girlfriend when i moved from new york california those signs are in there all the time the thing is we're the shopping corps you're on i-10 i think east or west exit 322 stop and see the thing we're going to stop and see the thing cool okay all right well we left uh cocopelli trailers hit the road headed for home and i'd say we've gone about uh i don't know 150 miles and i had to stop and take my boy to see the thing i've only saw about 50 signs i have to know what this is a lot of signs a lot of signs uh trailers working good uh both trailers the rogers is doing well in the box and the mystery boat which we're not gonna name yet still on the trailer still behind and we just climbed a pretty good hill like no problem four miles long for those of you that are wondering uh lincoln hawk has a cat 3208 turbo diesel under the hood and a five-speed gearbox which i learned to double clutch which changed my life thank you for the tips so much easier to drive when you double clutch and uh yeah all right enough of that let's go see the thing i might have one of these in his yard you dude you do not want to run into that uh okay so let's set this up uh this is a truck stop it's got a dairy queen it's got fuel pumps but it has something else let's go inside and find it the thing you will not be disappointed at all once you eliminate the impossible whatever remains no matter how improbable must be the truth dairy queen it's right so at this point i'm really confused because i've seen the thing did the thing somehow change there was none of this was in here in 2000 there was no dinosaurs there was a bonnie and clyde exhibit and hitler's car was in here none of which was the thing the thing was the last thing you saw and you paid a buck and you came in here and at the very end you saw the thing i don't know they've now created a backstory for the thing that has to do with dinosaurs and aliens which i'm reading none of i just want to get to the thing part somehow george washington was involved ooh old tractor now we're talking okay this is cool yep yep okay yeah yeah 1849 rv covered wagons like this were used to conquer the western united states what if you had to take this across the country or your next road trip that's pretty much how lincoln hawk feels in the passenger seat which has no air ride the driver's seat super comfy i almost have the truck version of this in my yard i have a 26 tall tee same wheels same headlights similar grille it's really cool ah looks a lot like this this is cool i don't know are we getting close yeah i think we are what if aliens have manipulated our entire history what if dave they're probably here among us right now what are you gonna do about it i'll try and be friends with them you're like hey you wanna go out and do some donuts that's right you like burnouts did you had a wire your spaceship is smoking that's right it's not my fault i'm me fix it for you extraterrestrial extraterrestrial you mean that extraterrestrial oh elvis was elvis an alien wait a minute um i think they literally just took pictures at a time magazine blew them up put dates on them and went okay oh here we go here we go i think we're getting to the thing any rumors have shrouded the thing in mystery a story of aliens fighting dinosaurs a battle that manipulated the course of human history what if the thing is the last remnant of a prehistoric cave dweller okay maybe the thing hasn't changed the suspense is coming can we go what is it hold on fun fact t binkley prince acquired the thing around 1950 although the details of how are still shrouded in secrecy that's convenient in 1965 he built the thing roadside attraction right here mr prince ran the store with his wife until his death in 69 at 56 years of age upon his death claude bowell and here it was in a case like that but you it wasn't surrounded by this rock and you could walk right up on it and look down and before you had to try you had to walk past like hitler's car and bonnie and clyde's car and all this all this stuff that had nothing to do with aliens and dinosaurs so clearly they've churched it up a bit but still worth the five bucks we paid so some guy found this no i think it's all you know crap oh to get you to come to his convenience store and buy some trinkets and some some candy but god but still it's a lot of fun [Applause] [Laughter] i'll still buy stuff i like my windows [Music] sun is going down in new mexico we are rolling hard under control [Music] would you believe that beast which is towing the new project boat and another new project boat this thing got 10 miles to the gallon today doing like 70 on interstate 10. and it is stuffed absolutely stuffed with tools and luggage and god knows what else is in there probably wait till i'm next week to unwrap this thing and show you guys but uh we're rolling heading for texas right now hope you guys are having a great day how's the cat running he's doing great take it all she's down to add which i think is two quarts that holds four gallons i mean we're not hurt it runs killer like tons of power there's no problem going 75 fully loaded love this thing i think newburn is just about done putting the oil in [Music] this truck is tall you ready for what this would have been bad if this would have came off what was coming off [Music] our air compressor belt is like upside down in the middle whoa so yeah we need that for our brakes right yes we need that for our brakes so we need to fix that and uh you know so we can stop [Music] oh my god it's riding on the center upside down dude there's a bunch of belts in one of these compartments maybe maybe that thing got stretchy and needs to be replaced like the guy that sold us the truck had all kinds of belts and things this is a great place to work on it shade protection from the wind there we go belts one of those gotta work i hope so uh so we stopped for saw for fuel while we were here i went ahead and checked oil and i had to add two quarts to it which is not a big deal and then i happened to see that the belt for the compressor for our air brakes was upside down and riding in the center of the pulley so i'm trying to fix that now i got it flipped back over and it's on there but it's really loose so now i'm trying to figure out how to adjust it it's a big mess i don't have any metric tools turns out a cat is metric so i didn't i didn't know that even in the 80s i brought all the standard tools from the shop oh for sure this will be a standard tool truck so you got a one size fits all crested wrench yes yeah yeah yeah and uh i'm trying to make it work so try to find it pull an air intake off of it moves a lot damn jet engines look at that this is why you hang out at truck stops not just for the lot lizards but for the jet engines [Music] that's incredible oh man it's so cool i'm here to motivate you all right oh now granted it's been in here several days it's it's probably not whoppers it's probably whopper but i feel like oh yeah i feel like that's what you need in your life right now it's disgusting well no they're still around they're still that's disgusting hold on we're still around i feel like well that end's disgusting you want me to try it let's take it just take a big bite out of it that's a brick of whopper i bet it's good though it'll taste just the same as it always did okay bonnie that's all the motivation i needed all right i'm throwing it away fix the truck [Music] what you don't know about roger's bonneville tr jet boat inside of a ramp truck [Music] fits good too [Music] room to spare [Music] we're gonna get her home clean her up change out the motor that's got pistons hanging outside of the block and uh pretty sure you'll see new burn hot rod in this thing this summer [Music] there ain't nobody gonna if you want to love got to [Music] there ain't nobody gonna do it for you got to find what we have here is a medium speed chase through new mexico i'm not stopping and i don't i don't know what to do do i pass the cop and the person he's chasing because we're going so slow do i hang out here it's back up i mean leaking hot could come in handy you know yeah law enforcement needs a hand i'm here hold up i'm confused on what to do here oh they're getting off going oh they're stopping they're making a run for [Music] so lincoln hogg has a bed over the cab and the back seat which is a bench seat folds into a bed tiny bed um the bed over the cab is full of boat parts and new bird has volunteered to sleep on the bow of the renegade jet boat he's got his pop-a-toe he's got his paw patrol blanket i can't even say it he's got he's he's got his paw patrol blanket it's my son's uh-huh sure it is he'll be sleeping next to a blown up ls3 inside the cargo area of lightning hawk because uh the bed up there is full of the seats and other boat parts but this is great this is a strong strong fiberglass boat hole you'll be you'll be fine yeah good night and uh tomorrow after we uh exit our luxurious campground here which we are parked right next to the laundromat and the pooper and the shower we're gonna go to camping world yeah this is great i'm excited like this is badass we're finally camping out screw hotels this is cool it tells me oh i'd rather be here than in a hotel and i'd rather be up in that bed up there as opposed to the back seat of the truck but the backseat of the truck i believe is marginally better than the bow of the jet boat [Music] good night [Music] i walked all the way from east saint louis to town [Music]
