Trolling China's Pretty Tinder Scammers

why are you on tinder it's just for work i swear to god are you serious i'm sold out what's going on this hookup dating app thing is like way beyond me i'm a freaking boomer look at my damn shorts for my sakes thankfully i'm married with kids so i don't have to put up with the dopamine depriving toxic like fest that is tinder although i'm secretly jealous that we didn't have that when i was younger anyway when i was in china the big thing for dating or hookups was an app called tanton it's basically a direct copy of tinder i even did a video where my wife organized a competition between me and my friend to see who got more matches in china and the winner would have to have their entire date filmed and i lost so i hosted said dates in my house with my wife and daughter present let's just say that ended poorly when doing research for that video however i learned about the common dating app scams in china now because it was just a joke for a video we never really fell prey to those skins but we did encounter them now one of these scams is where the online date will want to eat at a specific venue and they rack up a huge tab for you to pay for and after the date you'll never hear from them again they won't call you back and it's almost always their friends restaurant so they basically get a bunch of guys to go eat there and pay them a bunch of money it's like free business for them there's another one where basically you'll match up with someone on taunton and then they'll say hey listen i forgot to bring money for the cab fare where we're supposed to meet can you send me wechat pay and that's the thing is that in china everyone uses wechat which is like a social media facebook messenger type app but it's got everything built into it so it's like your one ticket passcode to get through china and you can pay for stuff with it like a lot of people don't even carry cash anymore so the girl will ask for like i don't know 80 rmb or something like 10 bucks for a cab fare to wherever you're going and then you'll send it to them and then they'll just delete you they'll block you so these girls make quite a killing because you get a match all you have to do is set up a date which can be the same day you could probably get you know 100 of those done if you really wanted to really rack up the cash keep in mind they're all using fake profiles fake pictures you can't trace these people they'll have burner numbers tied to them but that's enough about the china ones the scams this these chinese scams are now on your doorstep on tinder let's do a deep dive and see if we can uh bait and troll some of these scammers so i got this idea from a subscriber i have in australia and he had been going on tinder and finding all of these fake looking chinese profiles and he was really curious so he started kind of baiting switching them and gave me the idea to do the same so what i did was i got tinder and i hopped around on into different countries and different areas to see if i could get these fake chinese profiles and engage them in conversation for a bit of trolling so we decided to name our character christopher robin you guys do the math now you actually had to go in and put in all this information um and i was a little bit worried that you'd have to actually use real information like verify it but it didn't turn out to be like that so now i can understand how many crazy accounts there are of course his birthday was the anniversary of tiananmen square massacre he was a man and then i wanted to actually see the more thing and i mean no offense by this for real but if you click more as opposed to being a woman or a man it gives you all these options and i'll be honest i can actually understand most of these like when i typed in man you can search for genders right but can someone please tell me and i'm not being rude but what is a mangala mookie i i legitimately have never heard of that in my entire life anyway my sexual orientation of course we wanted to make him straight um there might be gay versions of this like these scammers out there but i i haven't heard of any it's usually some very photoshopped chinese girl of course we just wanted to see women in this case because that's where the scammers are and i decided to go to the university of melbourne i'm not super familiar with melbourne but i do know that that is a university there my passions were travel volunteering athletes uh athletics obviously dog lover and i threw in running i wanted to be the blandest like most dupable person in the entire world and there we go i chose some photos that i got off of stock stock picture websites and there we had our profile we were all set uh unfortunately we had to get tinder gold so that we could hop around the world and also get unlimited swipes and so the search began what these girls do is they'll often say that they're from hong kong when in fact their these profiles are from mainland china because it instills a bit more trust in the person a lot of people know that hong kong is like a first world developed country and china also is known for a lot of scams and stuff if you've been to beijing silk market or anything like that you'll know that you have to be wary so they'll play this like really long game and they'll lead you into you believing that they have some sort of insider trading tip about cryptocurrency like a new coin it's probably like an altcoin and they'll talk to you for a really really really long time before you even bring it up but some of the girls are just vicious and they'll go straight up into it so christopher robin went on the hunt he went to melbourne he went to all different cities like perth and adelaide and all around australia i went to new zealand i even went into china beijing and shanghai and guangzhou christopher also went to new york city and la and canada and toronto and i hopped around trying to get some of these girls to match me and lo and behold a lot of them did now when i was doing it it clearly looked like a scam but obviously they're pretty successful because some people have admitted to losing like up to like 60 000 and then some people just you lose a couple thousand dollars but that's a lot of money to lose in one of these scams so i want to get a little revenge this first girl uh engaged in conversation her name is macy and by the way don't worry about privacy issues here because these are all fake people do not worry about a thing just like me just like christopher robin are you preferring new zealand from australia yes what do you like about new zealand i've never been i wish i could go one day landscape you don't talk much i'm from hong kong i do business in australia but i'm trapped in hong kong now if you don't mind want to talk on tinder it's not very convenient um but here we go the the poster child it's the hong kong business person i initially wanted to keep all this on tinder i got really tired of them trying to move over to a different app so i kind of let out my frustrations sometimes in this case when she tried to get me to invest in her shitty altcoin i said i'd happily invest if you got this the word mayo that means like i'm i'm not doing that or there's no english practice here he says huh why do you think i'm practicing my english so a lot of times they'll go on the defense they'll make it really like guilt trippy it's like why are you accusing me of this because they they want to get a gullible person that they know they're going to be able to fool and that's like the biggest thing it's really important that they do that annie tried to get me to download this app for like this peer-to-peer lending scheme so i hit her with the that sounds awesome i can't wait to make money i'm glad we agreed that taiwan is number one here's brynn this one's pretty good so um the conversation begins saying like oh you know maybe we can go for a walk my chinese is limited okay here's my whatsapp he says i don't use whatsapp can you download it for me where are you living at the moment so this person was saying that they uh they lived in melbourne australia and she says near south mall which is not a place in melbourne she just kind of panicked and threw a very nondescript word in there and he says where is ooh oh near she's a dick street you guys do the math on that one she goes yes [Laughter] so yeah so south mall if you're ever in melbourne australia south mall is near she is a dick street uh she being xi jinping so the conversation goes okay i don't like she dot dot dot do you download whatsapp add me we can walk and learn chinese walking down she's a dick street whatever have you been to taiwan number one park taiwan number one [ __ ] up [ __ ] you [ __ ] taiwan number one not yet don't like going out alone do you have snapchat so what they do is they try to get all your social media so they can send you pictures and pump all of this uh you know uh kind of ads and stuff and try to give you insider trading stuff which we'll get into i have my own clothing company and beauty salon this is like nine times out of ten they're from hong kong and they have their own beauty salon or clothing company it's like the go-to thing because it's kind of believable it's like not out of the realm of possibility that they'll probably own one of these and it's pretty common in china and very easy to set one of these up so definitely like their go-to thing uh what do you do for work i own a clothing company oh nice here in melbourne not no in hong kong i have a business in melbourne so i often travel to melbourne and then she got a good free hong kong revolution now what do you mean if the ccp so she was from hong kong there's a good chance that she would actually support the hong kong revolution but she was just confused by such a thing here we have lin linda hey are you living in melbourne or hong kong my home is in hong kong i'm on a business trip in australia now but i'm in melbourne how long you stay i need to stay in australia till october you i live here where in melbourne you stand the hotel along along melbourne's magic boulevard that is not a place in melbourne by the way uh i've asked but you know the hotel just the hotel dude the one oh cool i work at the shopping center on ship lane behind the hotel this girl is super annoying so i just hit her with a i'd happily invest if your leader wasn't a robot with a really sick xi jinping gif and a team moved over to uh whatsapp now so they get you in here and we had to do a situation where i had to actually add people because at this point we had to see what they wanted to send us so uh she's asking are you living with your family alone me too why don't you live with your family i prefer being alone visit paris you i'm divorced so i don't want to live with my parents oh sorry to hear it's okay so then the conversation goes here uh hi how are you i'm okay how are you i'm fine too you've changed that's good uni has started i got less time now uh okay so she's playing the long game here cry what happened i want more free time wait wait a few minutes i'm preparing to trade good luck thank you i'm over so she just dropped the hint and what do they do what they do is they start spamming you with all this kind of information this girl here says i'm studying stocks and i'm going to go up huh sounds good just play with stocks when you're bored waiting for guests to work ha yes gold rose fast uncertain times in hong kong the stock market is very hot and may make a fortune all at once maybe but i only have three thousand dollars so i can only make a small profit it's okay better than nothing yeah it's better than nothing hope for big gains don't be greedy when playing stop so they dropped this thing where it's like oh it's a pretty small investment but at the end of the day like you know you could still invest messing around with the game here hope your strategy continues maybe we can together my answer is still the same not until we meet but i wish you good luck i feel we can gain more understanding through games so we won't feel keep harping on about it but they try to gain your trust first some girls are not patient enough and the ones that are more successful from what we've found from the people that were duped are the ones that play the long game so maybe there's a situation where you've been talking for a while but then they already went back to china and they really want to help you out they're making a ton of money they send you screenshots they have insider tips they know someone and it's this constant like barrage of them trying to like scam information out of you however there are reports of not just these fake chinese profiles being used for this but actually for even much more nefarious purposes and that is something i'm definitely going to dive into in the future i'm super excited um and it's been really fun to hop around the world despite what my wife thinks um but it's been really fun to hop around the world and try to pay some of these accounts i hope these fake accounts didn't get too excited for christopher robin because in the end uh they didn't get anything out of us but we did have to pay for tinder premium which kind of sucks i had to waste my money on this but if you guys
