hey guys you know zero how you doing I hope all is well in YouTube land whatever part of the world that you were in somebody's gonna say something about our fish tank it's a hundred forty five gallon saltwater reef tank we do have a video already about that I'll try to leave a link at the bottom so don't ask me what to think we were working on furs we're working on hides and in our box of skins and stuff out there we came across this old deer hide that we've had some years back more than ones that we had it was a small one and it's got a bunch of holes but we was using it as an experimental hide just to kind of get a feel for things at different types of ways to remove the hair and stuff like that and but it's a really nice it's got really nice fur on it and I hate to get I hate to get rid of it I hate just to throw it away because we're just not using it for anything right now because all the different patches that are here and they're on there so what I've decided to do rather than just throw it away and rather than let it just sit in the box you take up space that we're going to need we are going to make a fur on trapper hat so you can see we've got our pieces laid out and we're gonna have to keep in mind the way that the fur is running meaning the direction that the fur is going in so if I want this hats gonna be for me it life I want this hat to have the fur that goes this way to shed water and sleet and snow and stuff I'm gonna have to keep that in mind when I lay my pattern out and start cutting it so that's what I've done and we're also going to try to keep the side pieces as close to the middle here because if you look at the way the hair runs down the middle this is going to be the top piece that goes across the top and then we're going to cut our side pieces out of this stuff because as the skin and the hair lay on the animal you can see how it starts running down in a different direction so that went the same effect on my hat I wanted to rent them this way in shared water in the sleet and snow off for away from the sin of my head so that's why we've got everything laid out same things with the ear flat pieces and we're going to try to leave when I start cutting this out and try to leave these attached right through here that way when we start sewing it together and have to realign it and you start sewing it will have our we'll know exactly where he is to the target catch the center pieces of the Hat and you'll notice that we've got them marked out in the center roughly of the Hat that way when we get it all cut out you'll fold this over and these will go into the side come on you'll see so we've taken all that into consideration the brim of the Hat I wasn't quite sure if I wanted out the hair of the run down for the hair to run up that's the reason why we've got two of them laid out where I've cut to each other pizzas and see which one works the best yes there's two different colors of ink on here because the black thing died on me where we use a Martian so now we're just going to take these a little under the cold man exacto knives a little modeling knives little razor knife type of scalpel type thing it's not a scalpel but it's just a knife and I'm going to start to cut my pattern right through the skin without cutting the head I don't want to cut the hair I just want to cut the skin so I'm going to carefully start cutting out my pattern you know I do this all the way around I'm gonna put my glasses on because I can't see crap up close without my glasses yeah you get mold and we will come back once we got all our pieces cut out we'll show you what that looks like okay guys we can see now we've got our pattern cut out here of the center of the back of the fur here and all the hair is is running the way that we want it to run all in the same direction and all our pieces are here so what we're gonna do now is we're gonna flip it over oh you know and by the way note to self when you're cutting hogs that have thick fur on do it outside otherwise they're going to be hair I'm not admitting anything you saying they'll be here everywhere all right let's uh so now we're going to do now we've got to flip back with the skin side up we're going to go ahead now that we know that our hair is all running the same direction and it is doing what we wanted to do and we're going to separate these two side pieces here now we're just going to use our same little razor knife and we're just going to cut the skin without trying to cut the hair you're going to always cut some hair it's going to be unavoidable you're going to always have some that get shaved in the process but if you just use a very end of your knife barely through the skin then you'll avoid cutting a whole big batches of it so we're going to cut these side pieces off and set them aside now we know that they are going to work and that they are going to do what we wanted to do again I'm not a centrist I'm not a professional I'm not anything other than just a dude just got a deer hide that wants to make something out of it and now this is what I'm doing see when you cut if you've got large sections you're gonna have a whole whole bunch of that so now we're going to get ready to start stitching this together I'm going to try to leave this back part on during the selling process but we'll see I may have to remove it in order to sew everything together correctly but now what we're going to end up with is the hat there's gonna piece together like this and hopefully all the hair is going to be run the same way and not kind of crap I know it's not holding together very well but that's what we're gonna do and then this is a little use for the brim of the Hat we're going to have the hair running up that way when we sew it to the brim of the Hat and it lays down it's going to all be flowing together that's the plan nothing usually ever works out as planned but that's what we're gonna try to do so now we're going to do is we're going to cut out I got an old flannel shirt here we're gonna cut out some lining I don't want my head directly up against the leather I'll have something in between that way when I started sweating this can absorb a little bit of it and it's gonna take my final shirt here and cut out the patterns and we'll stitch them to the pieces first and then we'll sketch all the pieces together so let me get my begin my flannel cutout and the next time we turn the camera on will have a flannel pieces will be cut out and sewn to the inside of the the leather so as we got all that done then we'll go to the next step hey guys we've got our little pieces of flannel here cut out and what I have decided to do rather than stitch everything together and then have to try to stitch the whole hat together I'm gonna do like I did on my first one that I ever made and use some of this spray adhesive and it will hopefully it's going to bond to the fabric to the leather so I'm just taking it a half of the time just a little bit of light glue on here fold it over like so working in so you can feel the glue coming up through the fabric and then I just flip it over and do the other half here I'm not doing this for extra warmth I believe that this hat is going to be plenty warm the way that it is I'm just doing this to keep this wall not wall but keep this leather off of my head so now we're going to set these aside we got the glue together we're going to set them aside and let them dry completely and then we'll start assembling the Hat it's going to be pretty cool I ended up separating everything out just for ease of putting it all back together so now we're just letting our glue dry and we'll start putting it together so there you go that's how I'm gonna do this the stuff says it works on leather and fabric so we'll see okay guys the the glue is dried and it did very well I was actually surprised how well it's stuck anything so now what we're doing is we're going to begin the very long process of hand stitching this together with some sinew because there's just no way I'm going to be able to do this we've got a heavy-duty Singer sewing machine but with the hair and a really thick parts of the hair and trying to keep everything lined up I just don't see any way that I want to be able to do this with the machine so I want to do it by hand and yeah so we don't have to saw it all we sew it all with our hand and sinew but that's okay it's going to be worth it when I'm done I have a nice warm head when I'm out on the riverbank fishing and I'm freezing my butt off at least I won't be freezing my head off I guess anyway you're just just regular needle and some sinew and bunching it up there and pushing it through a little end of a knee lilamon pliers and each little stitch that I'm making I'm just putting the knot in it like that they'll try to bind everything all together and I'm quite sure there's some professionals sewing dude or dudette out there well probably but it is what it is so I sit here and do this this is going to take a while to get all this done so when we get a little bit further along in the process I got we're gonna throw the two sides on here's the other side and then we'll sew on the the earmuff piece here along the back so it's got a lot of someone to do so we'll probably catch up with you maybe late tonight or tomorrow at some point unless I keep stabbing myself with a needle and then I'll be in the Richard Nicola kitchen Lou okay guys we're putting the last stitch in the outer part of the I guess we need a frame with the hat or the outer part of the hat and we'll take a look at it here see this has been different - so it's kind of been a pain in the butt honestly with all the hair have to deal with all the hair everywhere this is how it comes out got to get it over all the hair or lay down and I think I sewed it a little too big I wanted to put a stitch probably up here but man this thing is going to be warm I made it a little bit too big so I think what I'm going to do is get like a stocking hat or something in and put it in so it on the inside brushed it out roll the hair lays down flat I think it's going to be pretty cool these are these awesome warm winter hat and was waiting without way the hair is laying down it's uh I think it's going to shed quite a bit of that water I think what I'm going to do because I never on mine I know we use this brim here so I think I'll just put a couple of stitches in up here and keep that up towards the towards the Hat itself but then I'll figure out some strains I think when we did it take a couple strips of this old shirt material so on the inside use them as my ties for my ear flaps so but once we get to that point well figure it all out for the non I think we're going to do is put a couple of stitches up here hold this brim in place and then figure out what I'm going to put on the inside do I think that little bit of extra space so it's not real loose and we'll go from there so we'll see you on a bit okay guys here is my hair on trappers hat slash really bad wig I guess we control it - what I did was Mary knitted one of these little stocking hat things and I just dad get to the front of the hat so I can adjust my little stocking hat then I can adjust my trapper hat I took some little shirt put pieces and made me a little tie here to try and reach my beard and I'm ready to be out in the cold there's a crazy warm and so if I'm not hunting there on when our traps or wherever I'm billing outside he's even doing chores I'm going to be national lawyers will be handy one more fishing on the river hunters out there if you shoot a deer you're not quite sure what to do with the hide go ahead and panic your hide we can't this hide using the album solution and then you can align it with an old flannel shirt find you a trap and I think it looks pretty cool and the way on all the hair running the way that it's supposed to run should shed the weather pretty well so there you have it not sure what else to say about the Hat is done and can't wait to try it out in some cold weather if the weather ever turns cold again you never know alright guys thank you very much for watching I can do it you can do it have a great day god bless you Buzzz Buzzz the end
