[Music] [Music] what's up guys welcome back i hope you're good and staying safe out there uh we're at the allen household this weekend for the southwest training camp the title of this video may seem like i'm changing for an iron man but i'm not these guys are uh if you haven't already this is chester this is john and they're training for the barcelona iron man in october if covert allows for the event to go forward hey mate what's up chess how are you doing we just found out the iron man has been cancelled um so no more no more barcelona absolutely gutted because they're covered yeah man because they're covered so they've postponed it till um until next year um so john and i are gonna do it next year but i've decided matt i've i've just gone you know i've done seven months of training i've never trained this hard for a single day in my entire life and there's no way i'm not going to do it so um i'm still going to do the iron man just on in the new forest i'll still make the video then because it's almost finished so i might as well um get it out and um yeah mate absolutely it's annoying um obviously we can use the video next year as well and maybe add bits to it but um yeah we'll make a new one all right all right but um yeah sorry i couldn't be happier this year uh no fuss we'll go again next year 2021 is going to be our year this short video is basically a glimpse into just how much training it takes to actually train for an iron man if you're not familiar with what iron man includes you start off with a 2.4 mile swim in the sea and then you transition it into a 112 mile cycle and if all that wasn't enough you run a marathon at the end right here now obviously running through what we've got what we got in store for the next holidays uh so tomorrow friday we've got a 6am start uh breakfast coffee a little gossip a little stretch out and then at eight o'clock we are doing a 3k swim and then from that we're going to transition into a 100k which is 65 mile cycle yeah so saturday we've got a 80k bike ride uh followed by a half half a marathon so 21ks go i'm just saying just say cut to 6am quite a 6am no like naturally though but [Music] am [Music] um oh yeah get your work matching suits that's nice you are both underneath yeah [Music] it's day one of training here on the southwest training camp we've got a three point no sorry 3k swim followed by a 100k bike great day for it um yeah not bad at all a little bit choppy [Music] but [Music] chester and obviously chester and jason chester and john are um doing the 3k swim we're half an hour half an hour through probably just over halfway just over halfway the 3k swim jason's um free cycle snack jelly babies in case you're wondering what the secret is to um do 100k cycle uh jason is chester's um pay cycler and chester's third who's behind there is john [Music] how's the swim jay chester uh hard there's a lot of rip current so one way it was like swinging another way was like swimming down river [Music] um [Music] yes [Music] so [Music] see it's seeping through and basically when it re-punches that's game over let's get you home jay oh i'm shattered there there's a tough ride ah you're only you're literally three miles short yeah those last three miles they still would have been really tough yeah it's the wind up brother how's your my legs my body pretty tired [Music] what a mate how was that yeah oh what we got some water there hold on can you give us a little um rundown of your of your diet so tonight we've got chicken chorizo bacon sweet corn pesto pasta um tomorrow morning we'll have a quick snack when we wake up before we set off and then come back obviously we'll be eating throughout the day taking on like sort of uh energy gels on the bike and stuff and on the run and then when we come back mama's going to do her big fry saying that we had today you know sausages bacon marsh mushrooms let's get some marshmallows bacon and marshmallows um and then yeah i think we're gonna smash it domino's pizza later after everything we've been training since pretty much just before the start of lockdown so roughly around seven months so we've made the best sort of best of a bad situation here by uh by training throughout lockdown and sort of keeping keeping our mental health in a good spot and uh yeah keeping positive yeah absolutely i think uh you know lockdown you can go sort of one or two ways you know you can either sort of slump down or you can you can get out and do stuff and hopefully this video can uh spur people on to to get active and be proactive as well up with this idea how did it all come about um chester came over all i remember was i was sitting at work and i got a text from chester saying uh joined an online and i was uh at first fought [Music] so i just finished the the three-peat challenge which is basically the highest peak in england scotland and wales in under 24 hours and finished that and you know had it had quite a big buzz off that and what's next and uh always wanted to do an iron man and yeah decided there and then that we were going to do one in a year's time so i thought who else wants to join me um yeah just thought john's probably got a screwdriver so yeah that's the story why and what are you doing this for sure so we're doing this for movember and well the sort of reason behind it is um the charity is close to both of our hearts they do fantastic work for for men's health in general so that's prostate cancer testicular cancer men's suicides and mental health as well and i mean for me personally i've lost a lot of family and most of them have been male and it's been to one of those aspects so for me it was an obvious choice and um yeah john says seem to tug on your heart yeah i i think it's just a great and great cause really i think um it's so important these days especially i think for me as mental health and kind of suicide all that prevention um i just kind of in recent years it kind of seems more common happening and i think what men have i mean 75 percent of suicides are men as it is and mental health is always it's a big cause and i think it's great because what they're doing is great so i'm really proud to do it for the charity member [Music] so it's day two um today is a 50 mile cycle into a half marathon um i'm buzzing through it keep it going um yeah that'd be interesting to see i think yesterday it was quite tough um i'm excited at the moment i'm just loosening on off from yesterday i can get ready to go [Music] is that baby powder it's liquid chalk liquid chalk i didn't even know that was the thing to be honest if i clap my hands again you might get a chalk shot do the pregame lebron james [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] had a good day yeah last ride today the first because normally during a ride the first five miles is uh typically the hardest um just because it takes a bit of time to warm up get your legs going this one took took about 15 miles for me to to get into it because of yesterday eventually got into it 15 miles in and then we came towards the end and i was like yeah you know what i think this is over i can chill but then i just sort of thinking chester's got around the marathon [Music] yeah it's good yeah but they've saw us on my uh achilles start to stretch out but that was good nice cycle little cycle yeah i'll get on this sir how are you feeling about this john yeah i feel like yeah let me stretch my kiddies did you feel um like it was finally harder to get to get into that psycho rhythm so how'd you go john i actually felt a lot better you know it's like i felt like really sick i think the thing to the first half i felt i had to try and stop you from going too quickly yeah because you've got this to go all right let's do this let's go bro you're gonna kill it man [Music] [Applause] [Music] how was it you're in the wrong way right yeah i literally drove the whole route where is he no i did oh that's okay no idea how good that feels no idea oh my god that was pretty grim but we're done i can just get domino's pizza that's all i've been thinking about literally we'll um try and pick up jay and john jay can you hear me jay pick up [Music] nothing [Music] uh [Music] how's that john another the first six were grim i'd prefer the last six or lost so smart yeah on the run yeah yeah well that's that's often the way because uh yeah because you come off the bike and your legs are used to extending like to a certain length yeah and then you you get into the run and then uh yeah your legs are sort of loosened off and just chill down there how did you on your run it's good um yeah i'm very happy what time was you uh i was quite close to a pb i got one hour 37 or something uh just seven minutes out so i was pretty happy all right that's it for today training camp that's cut done it's alright now we just got bloopers okay and that's it that's the um that's the training camp i hope you enjoyed it um how did you guys find it it was pretty brutal to be honest weekends um that was good i think it was definitely a good eye opening to what's uh what's to come really um it's a good wake-up call for sure i mean we so to put it into perspective we did uh we were sort of .8k off on the swim we did the bike ride over two days and then we did half marathon um so we've got to piece all that together and do it in one day instead of over two so yeah yeah yeah seven 17 hours all that on 17 hours yeah we also we also uh we weighed ourselves at the start and we lost uh we lost 5 kg 5 kg in 2 days so over 2 days so dead weight in the morning on on friday morning and then post workout on saturday afternoon when we finished around two o'clock yeah we'd lost five kilograms in in sort of either muscle mass water and uh well we hadn't really eaten much either so um yeah a bit depleted but um all for a good cause yeah that's it so all the links
