Tour of Knapp Time Skoolie - Vlog 240 Bus Conversion

[Music] hey guys what's up youtube i'm randy and this is my wife shelly knapp and we want to give you a tour of our school bus this morning yes okay guys our bus is a 2004 thomas safety liner and uh it's full 40 feet long has a allison 3060 automatic transmission and it has a uh cummings 8.3 uh rear engine so up here we've got our propane cabinet right beside it is the propane water heater in there that's a six gallon suburban propane water heater we put a pass-through under bay storages on it so they go clear through to the other side there you can see a 45 gallon gray tank there's one of those on both sides and in the middle there is a 100 gallon fresh water tank so we come around the back end here and you can see up top there is a pioneer mini split that's a 12 000 btu pioneer mini split and here's the cummings like i said it's an 8.3 cummings diesel engine and down here is our roadmaster tow bar that we hooked the pickup up with the batteries for the bus are down there um here's our back door so we have an exit out of the rear end of the bus we removed the uh emergency exit that was in the middle of the bus and relocated it and made a full height door back here at the rear there's the fresh water inlet it's just a standard rv thing that we bought at the rv store and put that on so these pass-throughs like i said pass through all the way and over here you can see that's where we've got the the dump for the gray waters and we got a fresh water inlet if we can have a shore water that hooks into there that's the exhaust for the composting toilet and below it is the inlet for the shore power connection so we can hook up shore power there down here at the bottom is the home for the stinky slinky he's in there the connectors in the hose just slide into that and and we have a diesel heater inside and that's where it exhausts out here is the fuel tank for the diesel heater so we have a seven gallon fuel tank for the diesel heater there up on top we got the self signal the wii boost to boost the sell signal so let's go inside i love our door yeah we fabricated that door by the tubing and skinned it with stainless steel and welcome to our home so right when you come in this is the main living area up here guys and uh we got the captains or the co-pilot's chair right here that'll swivel around when we go down the road of course there's the driver's seat this is a double deep storage area so there's two of those once you show them how those slide out that there's two of them in there so we doubled the storage in that area we got the tv up here at the front on a pivot mount so that we can swing it out into the room and then we can sit back here on the couch or on the on chairs on this side and watch tv if we want to have company up here then we can pull the chairs out and drop the table down and flip it around the other way so with that drop down table it opens up the room and we can turn those chairs and have a conversation with people on the other side of the room so shelley wanted this bus to look like a house and not like a bus the only place that we didn't do that was in the driver's cab because i wanted it to look like a bus in the driver's area so that's why we vaulted the ceiling and we mimicked sheetrock the walls are quarter inch plywood but we mimic the sheetrock look let's come around this way so you can see i love the skylights yep we've got uh reflectix covers for those when we need them so we got a propane dickinson propane fireplace over here underneath the sofa which the sofa converts into a twin bed so you just pull the bolsters and you've got a twin size bed and then underneath the bed is that's where the diesel heater is down there so that's the home for the diesel heater and we can actually lounge that sofa if we choose to over here we have the sink and with the sink we decided to have the one big tub because we could use dish pans and uh convert to a two tub yeah make it multipurpose so then over here you got your countertop and why don't you show them how we use the cutting board to maximize the work surfaces so we got that cutting board we made to fit over top of the sink and then she can work on one side of the kitchen and i can work on the other side of the kitchen so she's got her countertop here you like that i love my kitchen yes i totally love the kitchen and then here is a uh apartment size propane range and it's plenty big enough we can get a full-size cookie sheet in there too so um we're not limited on space at all up top is a 1000 watt microwave we got our little spice rack on the end and over here we have a 10 is that a 10 yeah a 10 cubic uh apartment size refrigerator high efficiency right that was yeah so we shopped for the one that had the highest efficiency rating and it holds everything that we need we have a stocked up full but the one thing i do love that we did because we're both so tall we lifted it up um so it's easy to access but it gave me this great dry good pantry down below and then in the areas that came between we put in filler cabinets just to fit to use the space we've got those on both spots there and then we have a sliding door we need privacy once in a while people we need to be able to get away from each other well we put some cork board on that door and yeah that works cool that's working great so far yeah then i love this area my pantry so we actually had our groceries that we were using and we calculated out where they fit the best and we built the shelves in the pantry to accommodate the style that you know the canned goods and coffee and the stuff the way that we use it and then you can come in and have your shower a 32 inch uh residential shower the only thing that we did in here is we added let me get these out of the way we added these shelf brackets to keep the stuff from falling off because even when we weren't going down the road if the bus would shake a little bit these things could wiggle off and fall down so that's just a standard fiberglass uh shower stall and we got an efficiency shower head too yeah yeah water saving shower head yep all right so we have a nature's head composting toilet and then beside it there is the battery bank and then in the back end of this room in the back wall is all the electronics for the solar system so that's all working really well and this is randy's favorite part people [Laughter] okay that is my favorite part from there you come into the bedroom the great room the yoga studio the art studio art studio the entertainment room but we have a full queen-size bed and it'll murphy up into the up into that wall so back here over top of the engine we've got a ton of uh storage space with coats back there and the totes go into a lip lift shelves so that they stay in place and she's got pillow storage so stuff your pillows down in the pillow area and we can fold the bed up on each side of the bed we both have our own compartments for our personal stuff whatever you use the most they just slide into there and this table up here will drop fold down to the wall just like the one up in the front did in this corner over here you've got the bathroom vanity and the medicine cabinet you want to show them how the door this door we have a full-size mirror and then when you want to use it for a art studio or yoga studio whatever you want to do back here you just tuck in the blankets fold the bed up and we have a lot on both sides so but what i love about this is the feet now become shelves that we can use when we're um doing art and stuff or you can just put stuff up there that looks nice yep there's your art table this is one of my favorite places you guys unless i'm outside doing art i love it here because we've got lights on both sides we've got the skylight behind me there's lots of natural daylight that comes in here all right so and you can do your yoga back here yes so when the tables drop down that opens up the skylights are up here so when the tables drop down it opens up tons of room back here for me to do yoga and with the transition back here for the murphy bed um gives me plenty of room to stretch out for yoga so there's the exit out the back there if you want to get out the back and uh yeah so i like to call this the great room because it's really way more than a bedroom it's just a great room it is i love the multi-purpose of this room we have a folding table that we can put in the center of this room and i'm pretty sure we can seat six people around it fairly comfortably we need a dinner party you guys yeah okay so let's go ahead and go up on the roof and i'll show you the solar panels up there [Music] i always love the view up here one of my favorite things is to bring the yoga mats up here and just sit and enjoy this so there's your maintenance walkway yeah you look like a stewardess got your maintenance walkway through the middle of the solar panels a couple of other solar panels clear at the back to make the system be the right size yeah so we have um 10 on the on the first rephrase and then two on on the back so we have a 12 a total of um 12 100 wide solar panels up here and it's plenty for what we need so it's really serving us well we left that yellow stripe on the back as an ode to the bust so that's it baby yeah that's around the bus through the bus and on
