I live in Halifax. Rail would be a fucking awesome way to travel this country if it was a bit quicker, but especially if it cost a lot less. As it stands, it costs me almost the exact same price to take a train to Toronto, but it takes 24 hours or so, instead of like 2.5 hours.
I would love to take a train to Montreal, or Quebec City, or Ottawa if it made more sense dollar wise. Its more relaxing, you can see some of the countryside as you travel. It would make traveling this huge country a little bit easier for people to see.
I dunno. Travel within Canada is pretty abhorrent. It just isn't cheap to get anywhere.
I dream of a Trans-Canada high-speed rail network.
