Hey guys Denver Riddle with you here, as a
colorist and filmmaker I'm obsessed with giving my projects the final pizzaz that gets them
to stand out. Final Cut Pro X does have some built-in effects
and presets but what if you want to do more? What if you want to set yourself apart from
what everyone else is doing? Well these are sure to do the trick. I want to reveal to you my top 5 must have
Final Cut Pro X effects, that will add capabilities to Final Cut that
aren’t there so you can set your films apart and make them look big budget. These Final Cut Pro plugins will help you
improve titles, transitions,
3D motion graphics, smooth over unwanted noise and take your color grading to a whole new
level. Alright number 5. Titles plugins from Stupid Raisins. Stupid Raisins has a huge library of plugins to help you add titles, call-outs and graphics to your Final Cut Pro X timeline. These plugins are not only full stack presets that you can customize. But some of them have added functionality like motion tracking. Some of my favorites are Word Pop to add elegant minimalist titles. Callout Pop which comes with built-in motion tracking so you can point out or call attention to an object in your image. Or just make your text follow an object. And Data Pop for creating infographics because we all know showing numbers and data can get really boring without animated good looking graphics. There is a plugin for every occasion so no matter what type of content you're creating These title plugins will save you lots of time. Alright, number 4. Dynamic Transitions from fxfactory. Dynamic Transitions lets you combine multiple
animations and effects in FCPX to build complex transitions with ease. You assemble transitions by dragging multiple
animation styles and effects together on the title layer. The swipe and zoom transitions are some of
my favorites. You can add movement to your edit and even
hide cuts giving the illusion of a continuous moving shot. It also works as a creative way to change
locations too. If you want a rhythmic, music driven edit
but your project lacks movement this is a great way to solve that issue. And what really sets this package apart is
that you can easily customize the effects changing their center, adding motion blur
and even some chromatic aberration with the prism slider. So that options are endless. Building each of these transitions from scratch
would take you several hours… well... time is money and this plugin will save you a lot
of that. Number 3 MO2 from Motion VFX. MO2 is a great way to vamp up your postproduction
game with the ability to add 3D graphics inside FCPX. You get 60 customizable project templates,
over 140 3d models, primitives, materials, textures, 3d text and more. It's extremely easy to use whether you decide
to modify one of the included animations or build a new one from scratch. What absolutely amazing about this plugin
is that 3d objects show directly on your Final Cut timeline, with real time playback. You can even achieve photo realistic 3D with
just a couple of clicks, add motion blur and depth of field. MO2 also supports a variety of 3D object files
so a 3D artist can hand off a model or an animations and you can modify them inside
your Final Cut timeline. Number 2 Neat Video
Noisy footage is one of the most aggravating problems for filmmakers. If the set is too dark, you bump the ISO giving
the sensor more juice and what that results in, that you don't actually see on set but
then you later see in post is that stupid noise…
nothing screams amateur video more than signal noise. Okay well maybe blown out highlights. But not to worry, there is a solution for
this and there are a few 3rd party noise reducing plugins, but the one that I know that is the
best, the one at one time that I felt like was a trade secret because no VFX artists
would reveal their secret sauce was Neat Video. It's so amazing because what it essentially
does after gathering a uniform sample is actually reconstruct the sensor data producing a clean
and polished look so that you have shadows that are as smooth as butter. It costs a bit more but it is so worth it. And finally at number 1 is Cinema Grade. The final and funnest part of finishing a
film…is color grading. It's the final polish that puts films over
the top and makes them look big budget. However learning the color wheels and curves
in Final Cut Pro X can be a steep learning curve plus not to mention how best to use
them in a workflow etc. With Cinema Grade you get to bypass the traditional
color tools based on 20 year old ideas. With Cinema Grade you can grade directly on
the image right inside the viewer! You can literally click on objects and change
their color, saturation or luminance by simply placing a point and then dragging. The color changes are saved and can be modified
in a lightroom style side panel. If you also find the video scopes intimidating
a false color feature makes getting the right exposure so easy and painless you'd consider
it magic. Things that are too hot or overexposed show
as red so you can just simply click on them and drag down to bring it down to the proper
exposure. Things that are too dark or crushed show as
purple so you can just click on them and drag up to restore shadow detail. And skin tones should lie in the grey, green
and pink areas. Other things worth mentioning, is chart support
for Xrite color checker charts for performing automatic corrections when you utilize the
chart in you shoots, side-by-side view for matching shots, real time previews of LUTs,
90 built-in colorist looks and a look transfer tool for transferring the color palette from
your favorite film to your own projects. And those are my top 5 Final Cut Pro X Effects
for setting your images apart and taking your films to the next level. These will save you tons of time and they're
so easy to use. If you like these Final Cut Pro plugins give
