actually have sessions of parliament elsewhere I'm open to that idea number 18 coughing Who Wants To Be A Millionaire in 2001 Charles Ingram his wife Diana and her brother Adrian got it into their heads that they could game the system and Come Away with the jackpots on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire it's worth it both Diane and Adrian had tried before and failed leaving it to Charles who did win the jackpots however ITV certainly wasn't convinced noticing coughs coming from the audience that seemed to indicate the correct answers I think I think it was Holbein all three were later put on trial for what they did and were convicted though they denied it the entire time and Ingram wasn't allowed to claim his prize [Music] he just won one number 17 Sean Walsh and Katya Jones Strictly Come Dancing in hindsight this controversy seems baffling to say the least yes cheating on your significant other is a bad thing to do but was it so bad that it had to dominate the country's front pages for the better part of two weeks I'm joined Now by Sean and Katrina on it takes two we'd like to talk about the dancing but that's been somewhat overshadowed by events this week regardless that's what happened with the tabloids generating lots of outrage when the so-called strictly cures struck again they stayed on the show but were voted off as soon as the public got a say with both of their careers in tatters and relationships destroyed um is there anything else that either of you'd like to say I think that um obviously I'm sorry for the hurt that I've caused did they get what they deserved who's to say but at least as Walsh pointed out in his return to stand up people stopped talking about brexit for a while uh Sean your ex-girlfriend Rebecca has put out a statement is there anything you'd like to say about that um I I think first of all I would rather not be having to address this publicly number 16 Watership Down though Watership Down received a theatrical release back in the 70s and went on to traumatize thousands of Brits we're remembering one particular incident where it was aired on television covered with blood on Easter Sunday 2016 Channel 5 decided to show we need to see naked bodies in a classroom just to know that human beings come in different shapes and sizes the precursor to naked education naked attraction was already controversial enough with its naysayers claiming it made people's body image issues worse seemingly to counter this Channel 4 hit back with the more sensitive follow-up but people weren't happy with this either so at the end of the day we need to look at it from their perspective and if you want to educate children if you're going to show naked bodies I don't I think it's going to actually deter from the actual education as well the issue some saw was the show's naked Brigade a roster of nude adults who show their bodies to teenagers in a classroom setting in a more cutting-edge approach to sex ed well unsurprisingly people weren't happy believing this was a massive safeguarding issue they complained in droves saying they certainly wouldn't want their children to have seen somebody else without any clothes on they've had Authority approval of that kind of thing I don't think no no in the same way that it's giving them sex education isn't going to make them run out and have sex I don't think being seeing a naked body is going to make them decide to strip off and start running around the school naked or start flashing strangers number 13 terribly white there is the reason we have King Charles III and she described meeting you she was a 17 year old girl he agreed to a news night interview to clear up certain allegations made against him with regards to the Jeffrey Epstein Scandal but nobody was Hugh Gates this morning well we wanted to come to pay our respects to the queen because she was just such an amazing person from one very unpopular Royal to quite possibly the most beloved Monarch we've ever had in September 2022 Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II passed away her coffin was brought down from Balmoral to Westminster Hall where she lay in States while members of the public came to pay their respects the rules were that we would be quickly escorted around the edges to a platform at the back in contrast those paying respects walked along a carpeted area beside the coffin the cue to see the Queen went back for miles and took hours to get through unless of course you work for ITV a massive Scandal emerged when Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby supposedly jumped the queue they technically didn't do this but the damage was done months later and Scofield resigned in the midst of another Scandal but to many Hugh Gates was the first Domino to fall and therefore totally understand the reaction please know that we would never jump a queue number 10 Piers Morgan vs Helen Whatley Good Morning Britain I don't know why you're laughing why are you laughing because I thought you said I'm telling you what it is it's actually very serious this explosive interview on Good Morning Britain in April 2020 was so controversial it led to Downing Street Banning senior ministers from making an appearance for months and Piers Morgan himself being prevented from attending the government's press briefings so the the latest information we have for NHS workers this is a 198 nonsense questioning care Minister Helen Whatley about the high number of deaths in Care Homes due to mismanagement of the global pandemic Whatley ended up laughing and trying to dodge Pierce's questions about the many unnecessary fatalities I think it's really really important to take the steps what's really important is that you just answer straight questions is it true that 4 000 people why are you laughing was later hit with thousands of ofcom complaints about his notoriously aggressive interview style though neither he nor Watley came out of the clip looking good 9. drag performance Strictly Come Dancing 2020's musical themed week was opened with a dance routine inspired by Priscilla Queen of the Desert a 2006 musical based on a 1994 film about a group of drag queens driving through the Outback give me a break I was never that famous I'm not joking but the performance received about a hundred of calm complaints from people claiming the musical was inappropriate because strictly is a family show Strictly producers hit back by saying the show is and always has been inclusive just a few months earlier though it was hit with even more complaints about having a same-sex dance partnership and in 2019 a one-off same-sex routine ruffled feathers as well well in all cases the BBC was cleared of any wrongdoing number 8. feel like I was climbing the chart I really did but we got to number two and then kind of off-com ruled that they weren't going to investigate wow number six Clarkson on the one show the one show just keep going but they don't they were stopping why are you looking so shocked I'm not though he's had a long and Incredibly successful career in television Jeremy Clarkson has been at the center of many many controversies during his lifetime but his comments on the one show in 2011 was so extreme he was forced to issue a public apology but others including many supporters of yesterday's strike failed to see the funny side they saw a combination of bad taste and a politically motivated attack he started out by saying people who end their lives by jumping in front of trains are selfish and ended with some now notorious remarks that workers carrying out industrial action in the 2011 public sector strikes should be executed I mean how dare they go on strike when they've got these guilt-edge pensions that are going to be guaranteed while the rest of us have to work for a living Clarkson amassed an immense 21 000 complaints to ofcom the one show itself also had to apologize to the trade unions organizing the strike number five EastEnders baby swap EastEnders the Soaps have a long history of tackling current affairs and real world issues including one contentious storyline tackling sudden infant death syndrome someone now when cat and Ronnie both gave birth in the same episode Ronnie's baby died of cot death leading her to actually switch the two babies and steal cat's son Tommy [Music] the backlash to EastEnders was so huge that there were even rumors actors might quit the show the storyline was criticized both for being an extremely distressing plot to Air pre-watershed and for being medically inaccurate but remarkably despite over 13 000 complaints the BBC was cleared of wrongdoing but like never I care number four race Rao Celebrity Big Brother many TV controversies are a lot of fuss over nothing with ofcom rarely actually getting involved but this was not the case for the fifth series of Celebrity Big Brother which landed Channel 4 in hot water Indian contestant and eventual winner Shilpa Shetty received abuse from fellow housemates most notably Jade Goody Goody's family and Danielle Lloyd ofcom got involved ultimately receiving over 44 000 complaints total as did the police it was even discussed by members of parliament the Scandal was so severe that big brother was only saved by being picked up by Channel 5 with Channel 4 unable to weather the storm number three live ghost investigation ghost watch nowadays paranormal TV shows are a common sight with most of them taking quite a lot of liberties with the truth to try and scare the public but in 1992 ghostwatch was something people had never seen before Susie stop it stop it Susie set up like a live ghost investigation program ghostwatch was actually scripted and full of special effects it was so convincing hosted by credible broadcaster Michael Parkinson viewers up and down the country believed what they were seeing despite the fact it aired on Halloween no go away mom help me don't leave me Mommy have we have we lost the link completely this led to tens of thousands of complaints from people extremely distressed by what they had witnessed believing Parky really had been possessed on live TV and ghost watch has never been rebroadcast [Applause] [Music] yeah number two Chris Morris gets in trouble brass eye these are our children they skipped down our streets but the pedophile is waiting [Music] one of the most controversial shows ever made Chris Morris's magnum opus is still as hilariously offensive today as it was in 90s but 2001's won our special Peter gedden was so outrageous it got the entire show canned Forever by Channel 4.
