what's up guys my name is Jackson and I recently returned from exploring my home the Oregon coast and I wanted to share with you my favorite places to visit and let you in on some local Secrets this is my Oregon coast top 10. the Oregon coast has it all from the expansive white sand beaches in the North to the dramatic rock formations in the South it truly is my favorite place in the whole world so let's start this off in Central Oregon at Cape perpetua Kate perpetua is just 15 minutes south of Yachats exploring the cape perpetua Recreation Area is the thing to do in this area and don't forget the visitor center it really is a good one this whole area won't disappoint you it really feels like a a meeting a clash of the land and the Sea you have the oceanfront area with unique features such as Thor's Well that you can really explore that stores well and I feel I can be sick on a macking day in the winter right now you get a little bit Oh see it fills up a little bit but not too much spouting going on and then you can take the pretty challenging hike up or just drive up to the West shelter honestly this Viewpoint right here is one of the best views on the entire Oregon coast next we are going north to Astoria the most historically significant city in Oregon from being a fur trading post founded by John Jacob Astor to where the Lewis and Clark expedition built Fort clots up and spent the winter of 1805. this town is full of history as you'd expect from the oldest American settlement west of the Rocky Mountains the iconic Astoria activities are driving the megler bridge throwing airplanes off the aster column visiting the Peter Iredale shipwreck and becoming a goonie the goonie house that is awesome our story has been the filming location and inspiration for many movies but none more popular than the 1985 Steven Spielberg movie The Goonies come on do it [Music] goonie culture runs deep here and you should probably watch the movie before visiting so you can fully appreciate it just 30 minutes south of Astoria is my hometown of Seaside Oregon [Music] [Laughter] the most entertaining downtown of any Oregon Coast Town you usually have some street performers doing their thing like this silver human statue I'm just kidding that's just me anyway you've got the most epic arcade right off the main strip of Broadway just don't forget about Fascination the best game there then you have the hurlow world strip with the bumper cars I mean it's just Controlled Chaos here and I love it there are a few iconic things to do here in Seaside besides walking the strip you have the one and a half mile long concrete Promenade or prom right on the beach that is perfect for walking or biking then you have the turnaround and taking a picture with the Lewis and Clark statue and then the world is your oyster with one of the biggest white sand beaches in all of Oregon it is the best and there's a ton of events happening throughout the year here so hopefully you catch one of those and get to party on the beach if you want to see more Oregon and travel content just like this please like this video because that will actually help it get pushed out to other people who want to explore Oregon And subscribe to my channel it's free and honestly keeps me super motivated to do these it takes a ton of work and feels good to be rewarded let's move on to Depot Bay home to the world's smallest Harbor many people in Oregon just know Depot Bay as the whale watching capital of Oregon Depo Bay is a cute little town has a number of shops places to eat and I recommend the horn it's a super chill place it's got great food and honestly you can watch whales from your seat so last time we were here we spotted probably three or four whales while we were eating lunch so that was pretty cool Depot Bay is perfectly oriented to the ocean along this rock Boardwalk to give visitors perfect views of the whales they like to hang out just off the coast so we saw some whales at Depot Bay which is like the epitome of what to do at Depot Bay so I feel like we've done it time to move on next up just 30 minutes south is the Oregon Coast Aquarium located right in South Newport which is a great place to support Oregon conservation efforts and get your feet wet with Oregon ecology it's also just a great spot for kids and one of the better rainy day activities in the area which if you know the Oregon coast happens a lot and when the surf is big and it's storm season it's worth heading out to the aquina Head Lighthouse and looking down under the bridge to watch Surfers storm surf now from personal experience this is a very fun activity but certainly not for the beginner Surfer on the far north end of town you have Agate Beach and the yakuna Head Lighthouse which is also a sick Lighthouse and a great activity next up we are headed to Southern Oregon to talk Rock Stacks Bandon Port Orford Brookings this stretch of the Oregon coast is just different it feels different and you can really see the difference at Samuel H Boardman State Scenic Corridor it's a 12 mile long stretch along the or Oregon Coast with rugged Cliffs a few beaches and tons of sea stacks just jutting out from the ocean there are a number of viewpoints to hit all along the way and it really is one of the most magical places on the entire Oregon coast but be safe here with beauty comes Danger just kidding not going down there this area is sort of notorious with getting socked in with the Marine layer early but then we'll burn off later in the day so if it's a clear morning take advantage of this hit all the spots and the earlier the better this place gets very touristy moving North you have Port Orford which is a super cute little town it's got some great Rock Stacks fantastic beaches and really it's kind of a good place to recharge just north of here is the westernmost point in all of Oregon Cape Blanco now because it's exposed this wind can really rip through here on a beautiful day you can do a nice Lighthouse tour and regardless you're gonna get breathtaking views a little farther north is Bandon and I'm just gonna call it the heartbeat of Southern Oregon you still have the dramatic Rock Stacks you have beautiful beaches but you've also got a really awesome downtown that sort of reminds you of a Hollywood set it just feels like too perfect it sits right on the Coquille River mouth and while the town is nice the iconic attraction here the number one thing to do is the abandoned Dunes golf resort a number of award-winning world-class traditional Scotland style Links golf courses are here and honestly they've got some of the highest fees in Oregon but from what I hear it's just unbeatable but I wouldn't know since I'm not paying 300 for a round that's a lot of cheese to hit a ball and speaking of cheese next up the Tillamook Cheese Factory Tillamook is on the northern Oregon coast the significance of Tillamook is the Tillamook Cheese Factory it sort of overpowers the Town due to its size its attraction but also the smell Tillamook smells like one big cow Farm but thanks to that we get some of the best dairy product in the entire U.S they are open daily and you can do a self-guided tour grab some free cheese and learn how they make their products it really is well done the whole customer experience got redone in 2018 and it's definitely worth a visit but just know Tillamook stinks like stripe moving on to Cape kiwanda just 30 minutes south of Tillamook in Pacific City lies the most impressive Sand Dune you'll ever see it is a 240 foot tall Sand Dune that feels probably right around 450 000 feet as a kid I would run up and down this hill but holy mackerel I feel like it got steeper as I got older you can take the easy route but we went straight up the steepest part for the challenge of it and the sand just makes it that much harder this was actually super fun to do as an adult but after you make it to the top because you will you've got some great views on the back side um but the fun comes when you get to run down the Steep Sand Dune so much easier going down obviously hit some jumps um get some air fall or even do some crazy back flips or something and then treat yourself to a burger and beer at the Pelican Pub and Brewery next up is ripping sand dunes in Florence Florence is right in Central Oregon on the sayusla river and historic Florence like the old town the downtown it's just so cute and worth a visit but the thing to do here is the dunes now you can walk them you can explore them or you can rip through them on quads side by sides and giant dune buggies which is what I'd recommend I did this for my first time just last month and it won't be my last it was epic it wasn't too expensive it was super fun and just a great way to experience Florence and after doing it I can see how people become addicted just this is like their number one Hobby and they let it become their whole personality in my opinion the best personality trait is when you actually click the like button and the Subscribe button I don't know there's just something really attractive about those people anyway next up we are going to head all the way North to Portland's favorite Oregon Coast Town Cannon Beach Cannon Beach is my stomping grounds and it's known for haystack Rock but Haystack isn't the best thing to do here if you want to know what I mean just watch my top 10 Cannon Beach video link in the description Cannon Beach has everything you'd want in an Oregon Coast Town Mountain hike silky smooth white sand beaches dramatic coastlines an amazing downtown surf spots kids spots a little river I mean it really has it all including the crowds the last few years it has been slammed by tourists so just be aware that the traffic here can get Gnarly on kind of like the weekends coming in and the weekends leaving there are a few stalwarts of the town that you have to visit when you come here but my top three Pizza feta Bruce's Candy Kitchen Bill's Tavern it's that easy those are OG Cannon Beach and in all honesty you can't go wrong here it is the best all-around Beach town on the Oregon coast thanks everyone for watching Subs subscribing and I will see you later [Music]
