Top 10 Most HATED 1970s Bands!

[Music] the 70s was a great time to be alive with possibly and collectively the best music of any other decade ever even some bands we associate with the 60s made their best music in the 1970s [Music] both laymen and critics alike still heap high praises on bands like led zeppelin the who also british who else the doors even the bee gees [Music] but what about those bands everybody loves to hate they may not really be so bad but for whatever the reason haters gonna hate i'm your host nostalgic nick and today we're highlighting some of the worst bands of the 1970s now don't go breaking my vocalist and bassist said that their name was inspired by his oversized glasses which made him look bug-eyed like a buggle but it's also been stated that they were the generic sort of costco brand of the beatles either way the name is pretty bad but you will certainly remember them for one specific reason [Music] their song video killed the radio star was the first music video that aired on mtv on august 1 1981 certainly an appropriate song title because music videos soon took the world by storm and maybe they really did kill the radio star but the song didn't gain popularity quickly they pitched it to several labels and were rejected by all of them the group was eventually signed by trevor horn's girlfriend's label island records but the buggles had to drastically change the song luckily that all worked towards their benefit because their tune is now kind of synonymous with the launch of the pivotal mtv you know when they used to play music videos and not train wreck shows about promiscuous young people hooking up in jersey video killed the radio star was a monster hit in many countries when it was initially released back in 1979 but not in the us until of course mtv made it so and although i'll admit that this song is not terrible their other songs sound more like something an arcade game would crank out in that final boss level bo donaldson and the haywoods this uk-based pop group was famous for their hit song billy don't be a hero [Music] that was supposed to be about the american civil war but since it was released in the 70s toward the end of the vietnam war people will forever associate the song with the vietnam war billy don't be a hero was the band's only hit and although the subject matter of the song is very dark the tune is pretty light-hearted emotionally toeing the line making war seem funny and this poor taste of lyrics bo donaldson and the haywoods one of those acts that people love to hate edison lighthouse another english pop group active from 69 to 77 their name was inspired by the eddie stone lighthouse the world's first offshore lighthouse constructed more than 300 years ago and 14 miles off the coast of plymouth and edison lighthouse was a one-hit wonder most well-known for their song love grows [Music] but the lead singer tony burrows left the group after the hit was released only problem was he didn't have the rights to the band's name so they went on operating without him maybe the love might grow some more for this group because they still tore and sing today in 2021 maybe just maybe genesis many connoisseurs of classic rock think genesis has had little more than several bad songs a simple google search shows several lists and blogs ranking the worst genesis songs the band changed their sound several times and some people weren't really sure what exactly the band was trying to do i guess people hate what they don't understand [Music] all of the original band members were brilliant musicians of their own accord most notably peter gabriel and phil collins originally they were known as progressive rock but by the late 70s they moved away from this sound and some critics argue that the band actually peaked in the mid 80s so we need your help what are your thoughts does genesis rock or not morris albert albert's 1975 song feelings is an incredibly vague love song that leaves you wanting more feelings [Music] while the song is vaguely about feelings many people have strong feelings about the song some good some bad but most people wish the song would just go away forever people have been poking fun at this song since its release and maurice albert never really gained traction in the us music scene but he did have a close-knit fan group in his home country of brazil good for him but another blow came to the singer when he was sued for stealing a melody for feelings the lawsuit was successfully brought by gastei in 1988 [Music] so let's just all forget that this song ever happened captain antonie there's no better place to start than muskrat love do you remember this tune [Music] of course you do how could you forget it because it's pretty awful i still have regular nightmares about muskrats i once saw some furries in times square and that further cemented my nightmare but muskrat love was originally supposed to be titled muskrat candlelight and muskrats in the dark sounds even more terrifying and this popular duo didn't write the song it's a cover written by willis alan ramsey but how did captain antonielle get invited to the white house to play this song for queen elizabeth in 1976. i mean who approved that i'm looking at you gerald ford that is not a groovy move but let's talk more about the captain and to neil's personal life they were a married couple who performed together but sadly in 2014 after 40 years of marriage the duo divorced and each muskrat went their separate way rupert holmes do you like pina coladas i know i do [Music] but i can only do one or else i get a headache a perfect metaphor for rupert holmes who will never be able to shake that pina colada song even when he didn't even like the beverage a lot of people love this song probably when they're on a beach drinking a pina colada but i'd have to say that more people hate it so what are your thoughts personally holmes had one other pop hit in the 80s [Music] but other than that he was pretty unsuccessful until he moved into the musical theater scene and if you didn't know you might be shocked to learn that rupert holmes actually wrote a tony winning musical he solely
