in a recent video i demonstrated and analyzed the top 10 most famous pool shots by the greatest of all time efren reyes in this video i present the top 10 most famous shots by everybody else i try to recreate them and give advice for how to be successful if you want to give them a try i think this is the most impressive of the top 10 collection chris melling playing eight ball executed the sequence of three creative and difficult shots all in one game this was a truly remarkable sequence the first shot was a timed carom kick combo where he had to thin the four toward the 13 kicking the cue ball across the table for the 13-4 combo i got fairly close on my first attempt [Applause] i hit the second one too thin i hit the right amount of the four on the third attempt but realized i needed a touch of right spin to make the shot work then i made it on the fourth try chris was creative enough to think of the shot aim it properly and make it on the first try and in a match situation and he was just getting started his next magic trick required a mase shot i am using the coriolis system which helps you visualize the aim and hit required see the link in the video description for more information i got a little lucky and pocketed this shot on the first attempt [Music] although it helped that i had practiced with the aiming system and masse technique in the past chris's work was still not done for his final performance with the eight blocking the one his only remaining solid he decided to bank the one four rails through all the traffic and stop the cue ball in place for an easy eight for the win this one took me about 10 tries to get everything to work many of those attempts were required to fiddle with the cue ball position some so a stop shot would be at the correct angle for the bank to go on this table every table plays a little differently although if you have the ball set up right the bank goes more easily than you might think even if the hit isn't perfect however several things can go wrong obviously if your aim is off too much the angles will be wrong if you don't stop the cue ball the cue ball can block the path of the banking ball and if you don't use enough speed the ball won't make it to the pocket again what's amazing is chris visualized aimed and executed the shot on the first try in an actual match after executing two other brilliant shots awesome job mate this one is the most like a trick shot elaine martel was badly hooked behind the five needing to get a hit on the two he decided to jump the cue ball into the nose of the cushion to have the cue ball bounce back over the five not only did he get a hit to avoid the foul he also managed to pocket the 5'3 combo off the 2 and get shape on the 2 to finish the run truly spectacular i attempted it about 50 times and i was not able to reproduce a shot exactly this is really tough to recreate by anybody even a top trick shot artist if you think you can do it please post a video for me to share in the video description many things can go wrong you can fail to jump the cue ball enough you can bounce the cue ball too high you can bounce the cue ball before the two and you can jump entirely over the two if you use too much q elevation speed or top spin it is easy to jump the cue ball too high off the cushion nose this shot requires more finesse than you might think here are the best hits i got on the two if you can get a hit on the two and avoid the foul you should be happy i bet that's all elaine realistically expected to do on the shot here i almost had a chance at the 2 3 combo by jumping onto the back side of the two that would have been awesome if it had gone but it didn't i would have also had shape on the two for the out elaine was obviously lucky to have the shot work out the way it did but the better you are the luckier you get regardless this is definitely one of the most spectacular shots of all time during an actual match corey dual is famous for his creative play and power draw shots this is his most famous shot i analyzed the shot and showed several alternatives in a past video linked in the video description here are two of the easier alternatives from that video but corey decided to impress the crowd instead with this amazing draw shot actually because he is so good at these he probably felt more confidence with this shot compared to the alternatives and i'm glad he did because this is an iconic shot for the aegis the action he got is possible only on a very slick and fast cloth corey was playing on new simona 760 in dry conditions under tv lights and the cue ball really danced here's my best shot on my table after about 30 attempts if you have access to a table with really slick and fast cloth give the shot a try it helps to use a long bridge length and use the entire length during the stroke so you can smoothly accelerate to generate the cue speed required and even a small amount of outside spin helps a lot did you see the rebound angle change off the first cushion here's another classic corey highlight reel shot he had to jump into the 4 and hop withdraw with enough speed to get up table for the 5. lots of things can go wrong on the shot if you land on the 4 you can launch the 4 off the table you can also hop the cue ball off the table if you don't cut the four and cheat the pocket enough you won't get enough cue ball motion after the hit if you instead attempt to jump bank the four across corner you can easily get cue ball motion here i got a look at the five but not a very good one this was my best attempt after about 20 tries that was even better than corey's shot but it only took him one try compared to my 20. i was very lucky to get the cue ball to bounce off the cushioned nose to get the extra rebound speed corey got his rebound speed mostly from the draw after the hop forward here's another interesting corey shot he decided to kick off the side rail and carry them off the 8 off one rail into the 10 for the win this shot was really tough to reproduce with a hit a hair too full or with too little speed the cue ball goes forward too much and with too thin a hit or too much speed the cue ball doesn't go forward enough and if you don't use enough speed the cue ball can double kiss the eight i almost made the eight cross corner off the point on this one after about 30 attempts making tiny changes in aim and speed i was finally able to pull it off i think corey was just showing off or having fun with this shot because it is much easier to just pocket the eight either with a little outside to go up and down the table or with inside to go around the table earl strickland has had many highlight reel shots over the years but this is one of his most impressive judging by earl's celebration even he knew this was an awesome shot the midpoint parallel shift aiming system linked in the video description can help you aim two rail kicks like this with multiple attempts this shot is easier than it looks if you hit the 4 too thin just say my hair more to the left and if you hit the 4 too full just say i'm a touch more to the right i was lucky to make it on the fourth try but again this shot is not as difficult to reproduce as i thought it might be regardless it was still totally amazing that earl made it on the first try in a match situation i would celebrate too like corey duel jeff deluna is also known for his power shots here's a great example many players have hit table length power draw shots before but this is one of the most impressive especially since it also required side spin to get the necessary angle off the cushion for shape on the three a lot of things can go wrong with this shot you can obviously and easily miss the ball you can hit the ball too full you can hit the ball too thin or not have enough side spin you can have enough side spin but not enough draw here i ended up with a look at the three and after about 20 attempts i got a good hit with good action remember to generate the q speed required it helps to use a long bridge length and smoothly accelerating stroke good luck if you give this one a try it is tough especially if your table cloth is not super slick and fast this is one of the most interesting safety exchanges ever captured on video it was between vilmos foldus and luan dung it started with a great safety by vilmas luang didn't see any good options so he just purposely filed vilmos decided to also purposely file by tying up the one even more hoping to eventually get three consecutive files on the long for the win now luang knew he was in big trouble so he decided to foul again by breaking up the cluster he is now on two fouls then vilmos purposely filed again to tie up the one once more now luang's only hope is to jump into the one to prevent the third foul and loss of game impressively he hid it perfectly i'm a decent jumper but i fouled on my first two attempts i hit the nine first on this one i hit the one first on this one but i hopped the cue ball off the table i got a good hit on the third attempt which i was happy with this shot requires good aim and jump precision in retrospect for long he should have broken up the cluster with a foul on the first shot and when he did decide to break out the cluster he should have broken it out more then he would not have fallen into the three-foul trap but hindsight is always 20 20. shane van boning has had many great shots over the years but this is his most iconic he carried off the two into the nine for the win and even pocketed the two for two-way insurance in case the nine didn't go that was a smart shot and judging from the reaction of shane his teammates and the crowd they liked the shot very much i did fairly well on my first try i didn't pocket the 9 but i would have pocketed the 5 if i hadn't grabbed the cue ball i almost made the nine on my second try i made the five on my third try and on my fourth try i made the nine and the five shane made the 2 instead with the 9 but the 5 is much easier here's another cool svb shot it was a bit of a fluke but still cool i'm pretty sure he was trying to pocket the three like this even though i was trying to reproduce shane shot i pocketed the three many times by accident during my attempts i also pocketed the three in the side a few times this was my best attempt at pocketing the tin and here are a few more hits i got on the 10. here i managed to pocket the 3 off the 10. i was as lucky as shane on that one i gave up trying to pocket the 10 after about 40 tries this takes quite a bit of luck to reproduce again this is what i think shane had in mind pocket the three and run out my position play was not great but i got the job done regardless shane's game-winning shot was much more fun to watch i know i said i would include shots in this video only from people other than efren reyes but i couldn't resist i needed to include one more iconic efferent shot that i failed to include in my previous efferent top 10 video here it is efren uses spin transfer to twist the tan off the head cushion so it can kiss off the stopped cue ball into the side for the creative wind right spin on the cue ball transfers left onto the object ball with a little practice this shot really isn't that difficult but it looks impressive when it goes you can go off one cushion or two like efren did did you see the transferred left spin on the object ball change the rebound angle off the cushion i hope you enjoyed my top 10 most famous pool shots of all time list give the shots a try you might learn something i certainly did mostly that i am in awe of the players who executed these shots on their very first attempts in match situations truly amazing if you think i left out any important shots from my list please let me know in the comments and post links to videos of the suggested shots i'll include them in the video description and maybe i'll do a follow-up video many more highlight reel and famous pool shots can be viewed via the link in the video description also the source videos for all shots in this top 10 list are also linked good luck with your game from dr dave [Music] [Music] [Music] you
