videos for today's reaction video re to bre R the 2007 Derby City Classic and you sure know who just broke those balls can't you recognize that figure anywhere VOD efon reos who uh no less than 15 minutes ago took down his teth Derby City one pocket championships uh he is now the leader in uh it's his fifth Derby City one pocket Championship Efron has played in the one pocket event five times and Efron has 5 one pocket championships I mean is that unbelievable well anything you say about the magician is no longer unbelievable um tell you what let's get right to the match here for a second and then uh as time permits I got a lot of stuff to fill you in on about uh everything that's going on here all week this is the last match of the night uh it's actually a bonus for all you viewers who just finish watching the one pocket event EF Bobby pickle and this is round four action uh I know efon is undefeated in nine ball I think Bobby is to although I'm not sure and this is a race to seven e broke in this game hey sorry for little out of breath I ran over from the control desk cuz Scott got this started a few minutes ahead of when I thought I needed to be up here so uh I'm huffing thrilled I am anytime efon Reyes wins a tournament I I it just it Thrills me to no end uh it just continues to solidify uh this this absolute living legend that every one of us uh that love pool uh uh really need to feel honored to be able to have watched this man Talent like this is is more than once in a lifetime I think it's once in maybe 10 lifetimes it's pure artistry uh at the highest level uh the knowledge the ability the patience to stamina e Ray is is is approaching 54 years old I believe uh um you know one pocket preliminary with panti that uh he looks like he's lost about 15 to 20 PBS in the past six to months to a year um and uh I think that has really uh kind of helped him and we were also talking about uh a bit about the fact that uh I think uh oh a year or two 15 18 months ago e had surgery and uh it took him a considerable length of time to adjust to it I myself have had it and uh in two or three days uh it was fine for me so everybody reacts differently but uh can you imagine the decision that efon Reyes made to have uh his his eyes uh surgically altered uh at age 52 uh with the talent and care that he has is just just unbelievable but anyway uh his eyes are are fine and uh he's uh hail and healthy so uh Long Live effort Bob's got a shot here uh the three goes he's got looks like he's got to kind of punch the QQ ball a little bit between the five and the four and I'm not sure that's that easy to do um uh maybe he's going to go forward and try to clip it uh maybe I don't know all right he hit it very nicely put a nice sweet stroke on that to avoid contact with the five uh this is tricky in its own right uh the 59 is not on uh what would you do low right try to hit the nine or just hold it for the combination look like he's killing it with inside for the combination yeah has to cut the five quite a bit more than it appears on the screen probably a good 45 de cut to his left so this is not automatic by any means 5 to9 Corner packet okay good speed in the cricket scores e one and Bobby pickle one uh I'm going to try to get some stuff in here cuz these racks go pretty quick uh quick recap on uh the bank poool division uh we started out in bang poool 469 players signed up to play Bank poool and uh coming out of that whole pack uh was Stevie Moore from Atlanta Georgia Stevie Moore and guess who he had a tangle with in the finals and beat him uh you guessed that Bata himself so efon got second and luat was third in the bank pool Bobby's uh by the way B Bobby wears around his neck he just tucked it in he wears around his neck a solid gold pickle I kid you not and that's his real name folks Bobby pickle not making that up it's not a nickname anyway so Stevie Moore snapped off the bank poool efon second luat third okay then we started out with one pocket uh about 3 days ago 416 one pocket players went at it and um starting out uh this morning or as of last night we were down to the final six and uh just want to see what Bobby does here cuz this is pretty touchy to get on that two ball it goes in both corners but uh a lot of traffic to negotiate here yeah to hold off on updating you here just for a second just to see what the magician does looks like his best pass probably just one rail up towards the five ball he may go on the other side with inside so he can play the two and be coming back towards the three ball over hited a touch and uh this is no piece of cake uh he's going to wind up with a probably a larger angle on the three unless he's just going to follow it right through the balls huh that's probably just tired he's been playing uh e started playing 11:00 this morning and uh he's probably had a grand total of an hour hour and a half of breaks throughout the if you add them all up so uh and he's been doing that every day folks cuz nobody beats him anyway back to a real quick on one pocket recap so we get down to six starting this morning uh efon andon uh Jason Miller and Joiner and Mike Davis and Michael cerber were our final six today uh first round up efon Drew booon uh and beat him uh they both had a buyback the other guys didn't boo went ahead and bought back in Jason Miller Lost to Joiner and Mike Davis lost to serber they were out uh we Shuffle him up and redrew again Eon draw Boon again uh beat him in 15 minutes honest to God one pocket race to three 15 minutes A Beat Francisco bante uh we got a little uh announcement going on in the background there I don't know what it was I think it might have been about the straight pool champion and not going to get to that you're you're going to you're not going to believe what I got to tell you about straight and Bobby played a safe that's probably going to cost him although the four ball's in a funny position it's uh on the rail near to side pocket and uh it doesn't looks like it's got no chance to go in the side it's tough to get on to bank and hold uh this is why they called him the magician let's see some magic here now he's going to play for the combination 4 five I'd you like to play for that now he's going to play something else like kick now this is where I just uh no he's got he's got a piece of it I just don't know what he can do with that came out I watch you kick anyway uh real quick on the one pocket thing so uh took care of baman in 15 minutes knocked him out Joiner took care of cber that took three and a half hours uh knocked him out big magic and it wound up with uh Efron and Cliff in the finals which you just watched live on bil club.net and acats Video Productions Bobby made a nice kick there sent the four ball three rails and he might uh put a temporary hold on magician did you see what he did with his stick he wants to kick two rails and thin that five ball I think right where he had his stick sending the Q ball between the six and the eight safe now this is no accident ladies and gentlemen this is no accident did you see that I told you that's what he was going to do and he probably put the five on the rail so Bob's got to move it number I don't think magician doesn't Justice yeah Bobby liked that nice shot efon this is so much fun I mean really it's just great to be able to be here and see all this now Bobby's trying that and he's is going to miss the five ball and the only fortunate thing there little bit tougher out on EF but you know what the magician will do here he'll play the five he'll draw the Q ball into the eight break those two up send the Q ball a little bit towards the center of the table and I'll be anyway it looks like that from up here but uh see what it does then I'll give you an update on the entire nineball tournament uh bring you right up to date as to where we are uh as of this minute I got current information for you on nineball but I want to see uh I want to see what he does so let's take a look at this maybe he's going to stay inside the eight ball and uh and go that way keeping the Q ball on the uh inside of the two balls there may be enough room for that yep absolutely now it's funny the two balls kind of stayed together now the six goes in either corner it goes where he's standing and it goes up diagonally over here uh it looks like he may have to pull it back around where his watch is or his elbow he overhit it just a little but uh you got to come up long on that shot you can't come short there or you you'll be playing safe so uh he had to make sure he at least got past the spot he was looking for like I said I mean you know it's the left and ra but he's human and uh he's he's probably got to be a little bit fatigued at this hour uh at the 6 days seven days into this thing but he splits the cup and he needs a kiss and he got it and he straight in stop stop two to one effort be two one they're racing to seven we started out nine ball uh yesterday morning 400 players in Nall all 400 players each division had over 400 we had uh just around 100 players cuz there's still half a dozen or so matches going on throughout the arena out here uh we'll be down around 100 players going into around 5 in the morning and um great day coming up tomorrow for Derby City n ball great day give you some straight pool information here in just a minute and uh and also I might have mentioned that but it is worth REM mentioning Efron is the leader in the world all around and uh as a matter of fact we were we were kind of doing a little bit of looking ahead in some of the statistics uh it uh looks like the only person that can actually cash world all around would be St Mo won the bank uh now this is an official guys and don't hold me to it other than I guarantee you eff ahead by a good margin think weing is Stevie Moore would have to win the N ball Division and EF would probably have to lose right here to Bobby by back and lose tomorrow in the in round five um and uh uh that would that would maybe make it interesting um when we're back with you tomorrow well we'll be able to give you a much more accurate picture of whether Efron has got a clinched or uh you know just where he needs to finish what round does he need to get to to sew it up and I got to believe that uh it's he's not too far away and I've also lost count on the number of world all-around titles that efon won here I'm going to guess it's uh 3 to 5 and maybe uh maybe I can get an update for you on that it's two to1 Efron uh racing to seven and at the end of this rack I'll update you on the straight pool challenge which uh concluded about 15 minutes ago also want to just remind everybody you're watching uh live nineball action from in straight pool uh as of this morning and those players were and I'm going to read them this time in in reverse order uh Charlie Williams ran 85 Danny Harman ran 85 dennisa Colo ran 93 uh John Mr 400 Schmidt ran 97 M him CED in with a 127 Johnny Archer 129 137 who do you think ran the most balls out of out of this group I haven't even told you yet the high run was 151 going into today this may today's high run would be the champion and uh frankly the guy struggled today I think they were a little tired they all put out a pretty good effort yesterday they were you know pretty jacked up and uh by the way real quick it's 4 to1 Efron here we're racing the seven looks like the 29 is dead wired into the hole so Bobby best do something with one I'm Bing across and trying to get somewhere in the middle of the table I'm not going to let effort see this or shoot at this one or I'm never going to get near that 29ner can't Nice Shot Nice Shot Nice Shot Perfect's going to earn himself a here and it's welld deserved I I would hope that he's able to make this it'll make him feel good and reward him for a nice bank shot on the one ball well hit well [Applause] hit now here's something you don't see too often e Ray is racking the balls for his opponent minute break how'd you like to be eing tonight he played at 6:30 uh nine ball uh uh had about a 40 minute break played three sets of three games of one pocket with Cliff four games of one pocket Cliff comes right back another set of nine ball and you know what when he's done with this you know he's going to do he's probably going to go back and play some chess for about 6 hours and speaking of that you know some you might not Reyes is a world class chess player I mean that sincerely um just superb superb chess player so anyway yesterday uh he's out in in the corter here in the hallway uh just outside the doors and uh they set up a little chess board out there and he's sitting there playing one of his Filipino buddies there's a crowd of seven deep watching them play chess I mean are you kidding now how much respect is that all right A's got ball in hand 42 lead Bob's just going over to mark his bead trying to figure out how the beads work uh one of the ful all the way over Bobby wasn't sure if e had three or four he tried to kind of only three got four he's probably going to have five very quickly because 49 is right in front of him unless he's got an angle where he's got to go on the other side of the four and run out and that's exactly what he's doing cuz he could not hold the QQ ball off the three for the 49 okay I just run out it don't matter I play combination I run out I get lucky now I draw between the six and d8 uhoh it was too easy I wanted a to have a little harder shot oh anyway before I give you the finals on the straight pull um I do want to mention real briefly and this this is important it means a lot to me and and I hope it means a lot to you the staff here at the Derby City Classic uh the the people behind the scenes here that uh put this thing together and uh work uh uh uh a lot of hours I mean 15 16 18 hours a day a lot of people uh to make this work to coordinate things to play backto back tournaments with 400 plus players in them on 40 tables and juggle the fact that half the guys are in two events and scheduling conflicts and all of this stuff um and answer a million questions you know when do I play I need to do this of course uh it all happens too because of uh what we get to do here and put this out on the internet through the Rob sakur and uh bu club.net and Rob has been just a tireless tireless worker uh you wouldn't believe the stuff that this one man does this this Arena that you're seeing this entire chalk off Arena bu himself he built this himself he assembles it disassembles it as it's needed in in these events uh this is the same Arena we used in the US Open uh it's the same one we've used here uh it goes around and Oney let me tell you we send them an email tell them tell them what you like tell them what you don't like tell them what you like to see more of what we can do for you to make it better and more enjoyable and uh if there's something we're doing that you don't approve of will tell us that too we appreciate the feedback all right it's 5 to2 e Bobby was kicking at the two ball and looks like he's going to pay the price again for and two goes goes by seven the five might past the seven I can't really tell I think it does and if it does it's going to be pretty academic he's looking at it now and it uh maybe it's a little closer but I I think he's got a oh now if Eon Reyes is looking close at it I'm not going to second guess that up here let's just wait and see give you some straight pool action real quick here well the billiard on the seven can be made too but these are tight Pockets guys uh these are 4 and A2 and uh if you've played on diamonds you know uh you know how they're made not only the finest playing table anywhere in the world Bobby from The Gallows for a little while anyway alth and I and and I don't mean to to underestimate the Bobby he's he's a solid strong player and he can easily run three or four rack so it's not like e toying with them or anything that would have put e on the hill and it pretty much would have been uh curtains at that point I would think but that's why that's nice shot there Nice Shot there I still don't know off the five goes but he sure threaded the needle around that eight ball very nicely and now we'll see whether the five goes or not if it goes uh you know the speed he's got to hit it with to get on the six may make the shot play a little harder too all right he used all of what he had there he had about uh 55% of that pocket and he used it and it's out here he's still alive that missq effr made uh tighten things up a little bit here which is also fun okay Bobby's going to get out here I mean I really doubt that uh up so straight pool final started today and everybody had five shots at it so here we go from the bottom up Dennis or Colo let me tell you how it's tough this stuff is Dennis or col a world class player today can only muster a 28 that's with ball in hand to start set up your own break shot two racks Mike Davis Mike 151 Davis Mr 400 threw a 97 at him yesterday best today 71 so who wins ma Iman who was in fourth place yesterday with a 127 was the last guy to go today am mik dropped a$1 60 bomb on everybody 100 and 60 that's like 15 racks and then M went and played nine ball and won that match so anyway mik is a straight pool Champion uh he picks up $2,200 for that and another 1,00 for high run 3,300 in mik's Kick all right it's uh 5-3 Efron Bobby broke made a ball got a shot and he's uh got himself a little bit in a pickle oh no keny you didn't say that yeah guys I did and I knew that was going to happen at least once during this set so now that I've said it I promise not to say it [Music] again and I also I know earlier I was talking a little bit about acats and Pat and all of that and uh sincerely meant every word of it I've been fortunate to no pack when me for 25 years uh I met him uh through his brother Pete some 25 years ago when we were both working in New Jersey and um it's been just an honor to know that guy uh Pat has uh just been a a great asset to to the industry uh and uh I'm just proud to know him anyway uh I want to also mention Merlin glck uh engineer extraordinaire another magician is in his own right and uh of course Julian Robertson uh who uh gets you all these great pictures uh especially on the uh on the acus stats tapes and the post- production crew uh Brad there's more of them here than I can tell but than I can tell you right now but anyway I I wanted to make sure that I uh got a little uh Kudo out to them they they they they surely deserve it all right bot is going to look like he's going to kick uh two rails one way or the other here and uh he's just frying to kind of just just barely skim the four ball and send the Q ball to no well I guess he he outsmarted us all great shot I got lucky look I got lucky folks it's not luck that ball wound up there yeah maybe it's luck it's in the exact position that it's in but it wasn't lucky that he kicked it the way he planned to kick it that he hit it he wanted it to rail that ball up here probably I'm guessing somewhere to the middle diamond on the top ra Bobby all right Bobby's going to take a quick table thank you and speaking of couldn't find his Q stick about 15 minutes before this match Bobby pickles out there having a smoke you know the in the foyer out there so we're out there me and Rick Jones and all that that's a nice shot there okay so he has a has a smoke and comes back in he leaves his Q stick out there leaves the case and everything 15 minutes before he's going to play Eon RS he loses his Q stick can your call all right you do what you do what you got to do buddy all right we're here anyway Bobby made a real nice shot there on the four he kissed it in off the nine ball if you remember after effan made that two rail kick to put it up there now he can see the five I believe and he's got to make sure he doesn't hit the nine ball well I guess I couldn't tell he couldn't hit hit as much of the five but you know what he hooked [Applause] effort yeah Scott had to take a call uh on his cell phone next sitting next to me and I think that phone call might be going out live too tune in you can hear me talking all right all right all right so Eon hooked on the five and if you remember the last shot he had he was hooked on the four so uh I think he's hooked on it yeah he's going from behind play the Pro express rules here at the Derby City Classic it's one foul ball in hand and uh three fouls has lost game no ball spot except the nine and it's uh winter breaks well actually the the the actual rule we play here is winner has the break option which means if Bobby wins this game if he elected to he could pass the break to Efron and efon would have to break the balls um where the chance of that happen well what I'm saying is why do we even have such a rule have you ever seen that the only guy I've ever seen do that I think was Pat Fleming okay so I don't even know why we have that rule it's not it's pretty rare yeah it yeah well we're we're playing with pretty top shelf stuff here well that's [Music] true last number n just before you came up Scott it was Bobby was uh just kicking at everything yeah and uh he needs a little help didn't get Anya break I might push for a kick I mean that's uh that's just maybe just as suicidal as anything else with Efron but uh I don't think you can let him see any of the ball you know what I do I would push right where that piece of chalk is right there let efon have let him have yeah let him have a he's got to give him a one rail kick all right he gave he gave him the whole ball if he's got the whole ball he's going to be going to be behind the six maybe no I think or up table two behind the nine yeah no no it's but it's sure fun to sit up here [Music] looks like he did if Bob's got the whole ball he's got a little bit more choices uh then if he's only got a piece of it and you got a better view of that tonight so I can't really tell is he got the he got the right side of the two ball okay he's got the right side he might Bank it into the nine and send the C Ball two rails oh he had that side huh now let in the drink no it ain't no it ain't you know they've been rolling for [Applause] Bobby Ian used toy back yeah that's what I thought we know hasn't been beaten yet either three rails behind it I think he's going behind the five Scott is he going to get a re he's got to get a re with the eight ball Scott no real yeah ball in hand it's 54 efon B after contact must ball must go to the rail after contact went three rails hit the two ball and rail looks like he has a chance to tie the back yeah he's letting the stroke out a little bit more Scott now than he was in the first couple of games he he was a little tentative oh my gosh that inside English he did he [Applause] did well okay is he going to back kick the five send the five one rail down to the middle of the bottom rail and let theall stopped by the [Music] six he's going to do he's going to stick it right on the five behind the nine that's what he's doing he's uh he's too deep the yeah you know no SC and he can't take a one ra kick at this cuz of he's got to go right at it can he hold it up he played this he played this friend last match [Music] go number oh he's no he he can stop right there yeah there's no sense in getting fancy here that's right watch this rot watch this's got to get got to be getting a little bit tired this going on for four racks [Music] well start back kicks the seven in the [Music] side sure because look what they left him that was hanging in the jaw Bobby wasn't going to high five him he's going to bank this one rail right there where he's standing it's going to split the cup looks like he's going to no he going to cut this here no just fan it good situation certain wor even money t yeah probably have to use the bridge to bank it [Music] though according to the rules we play here e better not conceed this they don't they're going to forget about it but you know the concession well I mean obviously with these two guys but uh what I'm talking about out there guys is uh we we have a rule here where we try to prevent concessions even if the guy scratches on the nine and we know uh you know it's automatic um we try to do that uh just so the game is a little pure and it's played the way it's supposed to be played and it avoids a lot of arguments controversy at a later date so that's the only reason I brought it up is normally explain it to the crowd 11 it's 55 turn try to out no I think if he tried to bank the two Scot cross Corner he's got to let the QQ ball go a bit or he's got to flirt with the eightball um but once again it's it's hard to it's hard to duck on F ah he left [Applause] it well I tell you um well I think if he gets on the three uh the four to the five is the key here to I guess he couldn't see it you know we we're at about a 45° angle to the table up here and uh we're seeing uh uh just a one perspective and it's a little deceiving sometimes now this looks like Bobby can't see the two ball uh to make it uh can you tell Scott can you make that two ball all right now if he's going to jump going he's got um he's all right made a good solid hit on it and uh let's see where this baby stops it's a seven full re number 11 four to the five to the five and the five to the six he's got to get that half angle on the five he want to be a little bit more uh towards the seven ball side of the table when he shoots the six in the middle table do you know that uh I think he's coming under the seven uh-huh under the seven and notice uh when he when he hit the second rail he's automatically in line it's just a question of how far away he is from the from the object ball and uh you know I mean this may sound a little bit strange the words themselves but e needed this game Bobby Bobby put three on him and came back uh actually uh had a pretty good opportunity this game [Music] com just followed just follow this or just draw it a little the center of the table follow with his famous inside AV that's not it that's not it yet he needs one [Applause] more and as Scott was saying now cuz if efon wins this he's going to go to round five I think Stevie Moore would have to win the nine ball and E would have to lose two in a row and that's pretty unlikely so uh it looks like uh Bata is going to lock himself up his sixth all-around championship and uh interesting Merlin told me earlier that uh efon has played in five of these and everyone he's played in he's won the allaround four out of five four out of five oh yeah Jason last year that's right and efon was close second okay he's got four first and a second playing uh three disciplines with for the last three four years a thousand players I think Scott he might be able to get right between the six and8 and uh stretch it out a little bit and catch the one maybe off the third rail what are you thinking he's going to go off the short whel and back it up dig down with low right he's going to dig down and maybe that way he's going to bend around the two yeah uhhuh and by doing so what he's doing folks is he's he's changing the angle as it comes off the rail uh with the reverse English and he also was comp he just wants to miss the two ball here by just missing the two ball guaranteed he would make contact with the one BBY number 12 got to watch out for the side pocket and the five ball if he get the two doesn't go past the three in the corner Scott oh the fourball excuse me yeah but he he uh the uh two does not pass the three in the corner where he's standing so he's got to get the two in the side and see he was worried about it I think he jumped up a little bit too uh efon cannot see the one ball cleanly but he's got plenty plenty of room to spin that in and and then and then what two uh send the Q ball between the three and the five right about where his stick is now uh-huh and he wants to play the two in the uh side pocket uh where the Q ball is so it's basically a q ball is going to go three rails he going to hit the three watch outside pocket no ballot what about the yeah what's yeah how do you like it getting on it just stop there and play the three in the corner one rail back around where his hand is play the four up here in the long Corner yeah don't Comin well with you know yeah cuz shooting the shooting the 48 was D is dangerous because of the lay of the six ball now he's got a little funny angle yeah now he's going to have to go over and back between the N9 and the five off the second [Applause] reils to me yeah he's just got to make sure he's got a a nice big area to get on that seven ball so he doesn't flirt with the nine and even if he does the Eight's right in front of the pocket so that shouldn't present a problem mhm one rail straight up center of the center of the table one rail iore number see I eight balls like that close to that pocket I like to get real close to it if I've got to come all the way back up here for that night you don't want to be shooting that from 6t away three rails Oh my he jumped did not follow through on a stroke well Bobby don't have to shoot again this could be the
