TOP 10 Available Whiskeys EVERYONE Should Have!

whiskey whiskey whiskey so many fantastic whiskies so little time and budget just be honest because i mean you drop a grand on whiskey in a month and there's a good chance you're going to be divorced or sleeping on the couch none of us are trying to deal with that [ __ ] so we're going to try to help you out today and we're going to go over 10 whiskeys that everyone should have on their shelf [Music] kind of the parameters in my head when i was putting this list together were this one they should be available okay this isn't like a i've seen a bunch of people do the 10 whiskeys to try before you die type video it's not that kind of thing because those are like rare hard to find whiskeys that are just really awesome this isn't 10 of the very best whiskeys out there this is 10 whiskeys that everyone should have on their shelf i say everyone because most of these whiskeys should be pretty much available to most people i can't guarantee all these are going to be available everybody that's impossible but i tried to make this list out of fairly production run like normal whiskies that are generally available to most people if you're an enthusiast i feel like you should have one of these or you guys have probably heard of most of these you should definitely have one of each of these on your shelf if you're new to the hobby these are my 10 probably whiskeys that i go to the most often so this would be a good 10 whiskies to start a collection of whiskey that's kind of where my head was at when i put this list together so without any more lollygagging let's get to it because we got a shitload of whiskey to go through don't want to make this video too long first whiskey blue run 14. i'm totally with you i guarantee you there was at least four or five people that are really into whiskey that just about cussed me out and turned this video off because blue run is not available it's super hard to find and it's expensive [ __ ] i was actually just visiting some family up in kentucky not too long ago and was able to find a bottle of this but it's super hard to find so that was totally a joke that's just what i was gonna sip on this evening while we're going through the list so but if you can't find a bottle of blue run it's damn damn tasty number one and i know i'm perfectly aware we're not going to spend too much time talking about this one because i just did this on my best beginner whiskey's list woodward reserve double oak is a brown foreman product comes in at 90.4 proof you can pick up a bottle this golden brown deliciousness for about 55 to 60 bottle store picks of this are also really good so that's a no the the regular bottling is excellent but almost every store pick i've ever had or of this has been really really good so if you see a store pick at your local liquor store definitely try it out i like this stuff so much i'm actually doing a pic of this myself we're doing a barrel pick of this uh we're doing it right now we've got the samples probably a couple months before it's actually out but i think we're going to have around 200 bottles or so i'm going to release in my patreons first and then any of the bottles that don't get bought up in patreon i'll be releasing to the general public so keep an eye out for that but it's a great go-to bottle to have on your shelf and also being that it's that whole double oak double barreled it's a really nice example of kind of the nice dark brown sugary sweet flavors you get out of a double barreled product and like i said this stuff just reminds me of breakfast and maple syrup and everything that's good in life so it needs to be on the shelf number two sticking in the bourbon category and i do not think there will be a single person that is into whiskey uh definitely not anybody that's into bourbon that is going to dispute this should be on everyone's shelf and that is one of the favorites in the whiskey community old forester 1920. [Music] old fortress 1920 comes in at a very nice 115 proof you can get it for about 55 to 60 dollars a bottle it is part of the whiskey rose series from old forester in my opinion potentially the crown jewel of the whiskey row series it's kind of between this and 1910 for me i always kind of go back and forth on which one i like better it's called prohibition style i think the story with that has something to do with old forester was one of the few distilleries granted permission to still sell a whiskey during prohibition under the medicinal yeah right medicinal i got a headache give me some booze back in 1920 that's when they were granted the permit to distill whiskey during prohibition so that's where it gets to 1920 and it's 115 proof from what i understand because that is the general proof of barrel proof whiskey uh during that era if i'm remembering that story correctly it's on a lot of people's favorite list and there's a reason for that i think the bourbon junkies called this stuff the savior of whiskey it is just delicious and if you have a whiskey collection or if you like whiskey or if you're interested whiskey for the love of god buy a bottle of old forester 1920. uh really any of the whiskey rose series is excellent but this is definitely one of my favorites continuing down the bourbon trail going over to another very iconic kentucky distillery good old jimmy and eddie russell over there at wild turkey in particular the one we're talking about on this list is wild turkey 101. wild turkey 101 or lovingly known as kickin chicken comes in at you guessed it 101 proof you can get this stuff for an amazing 20 to 25 dollars a bottle which makes it just such an outstanding deal and they just came out with this snazzy new bottle i really like this new bottle too i think it looks really really sharp it's got the embossed turkey on it and i don't know i think this new bottle is classy af here's the reason why this 101 is on this list though at 20 25 a bottle it might be one of the best bangs in the buck in the business right it's a great all-purpose bourbon very good traditional representation of bourbon it's got some of those nice sweet caramelly notes and all that but it does have a nice little bit of spice to it it's got a nice little barrel influence in there but it still maintains a nice sweetness at 101 proof it holds up really well in a cocktail and at 20 a bottle you're not going to be upset if somebody wants to pour some coke in this or make an old fashioned or some kind of drink you know you get into something like this blue run if somebody tries to make an old fashion with this i'm probably going to tackle them from across the table and bludgeon them about the head with a blunt object i'm just saying i don't like to get violent but you can't be using that kind of whiskey in a cocktail this though all purpose baby it's good for everything it won't break the bank it's excellent neat it's good in a cocktail wild turkey 101 for the win it's got to be on the list i think we got one more one more bourbon on the list still over there with the good folks at wild turkey jimmy and eddie russell one of my favorite bottles from them this is just one i reach for quite a bit and that is russell reserve single barrel russell reserve single barrel comes in at a very nice 110 proof you can pick up a bottle of this stuff for around the 55 to 60 mark and these are hand selected barrels from the master distiller there jimmy or eddie russell i'm not really sure if jimmy russell still does a whole lot of picking because he's getting a little long in the tooth one of the oldest master distillers in the game if i'm not mistaken these are hand selected barrels by those guys uh hence the russell reserve name it's a nice uh single barrel addition to your collection if you don't have single barrel bourbons they're really interesting because there will be a little variation from bottle to bottle the store picks of this are fantastic much like i was saying about double oak some of the store picks i've had this have been some of my favorite bottles of this i've ever had there are some real bangers out there at the price point 110 proof that's right there in my wheelhouse the same with like the old forester 1920 and a couple of the other bourbons on this list i'm a real big fan of whiskey's in that like 105 to 115 range i think that's like the perfect amount that they are still strong enough that they've got usually got good dense flavor but they're not so hot that they're blowing your palate completely out so this falls right in that at 110 proof it's non-chill filtered so it's not gone through any processes all the yummy delicious oils that make some of this stuff so good are still intact it's just a hell of a good whiskey and i find myself reaching for it all the time so it's got to be on the shelf i think that is it with the bourbons i think we're finally done with the bourbons for all you guys that aren't bourbon people since we're talking about all this drinking that blue run that might be some of the best whiskey i've had in a while but before we jump over to the next category let's whiskies next we're staying in america but we're getting out of bourbon territory and we're going over to quite possibly one of the most iconic whiskey brands in the world and that is the good folks over at jack daniels specifically we're talking about the jack daniels single barrel barrel proof a bottle of this will run you about 70 comes in at a whopping 128 proof and let me tell you it drinks like 128 proof couple reasons why this is on the list one you can't have a whiskey collection without having a bottle of jack daniels let's be honest probably one of the most iconic whiskey brands on the planet jack daniels it was also one of my dad's favorite whiskies that guy loved blackjack just regular old black label jack daniels he loved it my wife's dad loved jack daniels he was a big gentleman jack fan jack daniels is just one of those brands you've got to have a bottle of jack in my opinion though i am not a huge black label jack daniels guy he would probably smack me if he could hear me say that because that man loved the stuff but i've never been a huge fan of the black label however this single barrel barrel proof stuff is delicious it's 128 proof and it drinks like every bit of 128 proof but man is this stuff good i mean the flavor on this is outstanding it is strong and it's hot but it's well worth the burn because this thing is packed with flavor and it's just a sexy bottle that is by far the best looking jack daniels bottle on the market by far got the gold label with the black a little short stubby square guy with the bev i mean it's just a sexy ass bottle i'm not mistaken scotch test dummies had like a barrel proof blind where they blinded like a whole [ __ ] ton of barrel proof whiskeys and i think this might have came in first it came in way up there stuff's delicious i'm telling you if you're gonna have a bottle of jack you might as well have the best so jack daniels barrel proof single barrel going on the shelf faux show all right one more in america before we hop across the pond we could not leave the good old u.s of a without having a rye whiskey in the collection you gotta have at least one rye in my opinion this is one of the best examples of it i really love this one and that is pikesville straight rye whiskey pikesville is a heaven hill product is aged for a minimum of six years comes in at 110 proof and is really a pretty low rye rye in order to be a ride has to be at least 51 percent rye and this guy is dead 51 rye so it is a low rye rye so if you're a bourbon fan coming in to rye i think this is a great introduction in turi however it still has enough of those rye characteristics for you to appreciate uh the category of rye now this is a maryland rye it is now distilled by heaven hill in kentucky but this is maryland style of rye whiskey after prohibition i think all the maryland distilleries went out of business and this was revived by heaven hill and is now done in kentucky it's delicious it's got some of those nice spicy notes with rye but also a ton of the traditional kind of burgundy flavors there's a lot of like a caramelly brown sugar kind of stuff going on it's one of my favorites it's pretty available it's pretty affordable and i think if you're going to have a rye on your shelf it might as well be a nice bottle of a nice bottle a nice bottle a nice bottle of pikesville so pikesville going on the shelf let's hop across the pond now let's take a little trip over to ireland and talk about red breast cast strength [Music] red brass cast shrink comes in at about 115 proof it is a cask strength version of the iconic irish single pot stilled whiskey and you can pick up a bottle for i don't know somewhere between the 80 to 100 mark i've seen it the prices of this kind of fluctuate pretty heavily now i've got two versions here the cast strength small batch and the cast strength 12 year either one's really good they're both good options the the small batch is not doesn't have an age statement where the 12 year has obviously been aged 12 years if i had to pick between the two i would go with the cast strength 12. i think it's just slightly creamier and it's a little more of that traditional red breast flavor just amped up to 10 with the honeyed shortbread cookies and all the just sweet vanilla if you've ever had red breast you know what i'm talking about it's one of the most easy drinking whiskies you'll ever have and historically i have not been an irish whiskey fan until i got turned onto red breast and it's kind of changing my tune about irish whiskey now last time i said that somebody said oh well you don't like jameson it's made in the same place well maybe it is but let me tell you something red breast and jameson taste nothing alike they are miles apart okay this stuff butterscotch and shortbread cookies and honey and just this kind of thick dense sweetness you don't get that in jameson this small batch is also very good they're both uh matured and sherry cast i'm not mistaken this one's bourbon and sherry the small batch i don't know i want to say the 12 years just cherry cask they're both really good depending on which one you can find in your area either one of these would do if you've got the choice though i would go with the 12 year i think it's a slightly better bottle but red breast cast strength definitely in my opinion if you're going to have an irish on your shelf it should be one of these guys right here next we're hopping across to the close neighbors of the irish we're hopping over to scotland and this is one of my favorite bottles of scotch i love this stuff i was turned on to it not that long ago and it has quickly become one of the bottles that i reach for the most when i'm in the mood to have a little scotch and that is glendronic 15. [Music] glendronic 15 is a single malt highland scotch comes in at 92 proof you are gonna have to come off of about 90 to 100 to pick up a bottle of this stuff it is aged in oloroso and px sherry casks this stuff is your typical cherry bomb whiskey if you like sherry influence if you've ever had a sherry finished whiskey of any nature and you're a fan of it you're gonna love this [ __ ] right here because boy it is aged in both the oloroso and pedro it's pretty available it's not the easiest bottle to find but most people are going to be able to find it fairly regularly it is just a great representation of what sherry age scotch tastes like it is just dense rich sweet dark fruit plummy goodness i mean it is delicious stuff goes down super smooth nice and sweet really good stuff if you have not tried some glendronic definitely pick up a bottle and get a bottle of it for the shelf i feel like everybody needs a bottle of this they make a ton of different whiskeys it's extremely popular stuff the one that we're particularly going to talk about today is mcallen 15 double cask the calendar 15 double tas is another highland single malt scotch comes in at a smooth and easy drinking 86 proof you're gonna have to break off a little change for this one coming in at about 130 250 a bottle it is aged in sherry seasoned american and european oak casks this is another highland sherry finished scotch you're gonna say well jeremy already had one of those okay first off i'm a fan of cherry finished scotches i think they're good so there's two of them on the list secondly this is very different than the glen dronic the glendronic is like a sherry bomb this one i feel like definitely has the sherry influence in it but it's a milder sherry and it's got a little bit more of that oak spiciness on the end it's a little more refined it's a little more balanced i feel like not to mention mcallen is just kind of one of those bottles that's kind of known as like a nice scotch it's a little bougie so to speak i hate that word but i don't have any other word for it and i just i feel like everyone needs a bottle of macallan to crack open on a special occasion or if you're trying to impress a friend that's into scotch i mean everybody appreciates a good bottle of macallan feel like everybody needs a bottle in their collection and i think this is a very good representation and it's not like crazy crazy expensive some of these bottles of mcallen get got to take out a damn second mortgage your house this one's not too horrible so mcallen 15 definitely should go on the shelf last but certainly not least if the mcallen is like beethoven if it's classical beethoven then this guy here is pantera vulgar display of power [Applause] you guys knew we couldn't get out of a list of mine without talking about a little isla in particular we're going to be looking at a little ardbeg ooga doll hardback guga dial is an isla single malt scotch comes in at 108 proof costs about 80 to 85 dollars a bottle and it is part of artbegs standard offering this isn't one of their special committee releases or anything like that this is one of their normal ones i think their normal ones are 10 i think we beastie is now part of their normal release uh ugadol and annola and i think maybe cory beckham too i think those are their standard releases that most people should be able to find i'm pretty much always able to pick up a bottle of oogie i don't know if you say ooga doll or ooga dal i'm not really sure how to pronounce that that's why i always usually call it oogie if you're gonna have a whiskey collection you gotta have a bottle of isla on your shelf it's a full on experience it really is i mean the notes on here on the front say treacle bacon and bonfires this one is sherry finished if i'm not mistaken which is why i picked ooga dollar for the list i feel like as far as isla's go this is one of the easier drinking islands i think islas have a very nice sweetness underneath all the smoky bonfire peat you know mermaids bath water all the things you hear about islas and how smoky they are if you acclimate to that there's a nice sweetness under that on most isle of whiskeys and this one i think is probably the easiest to find that that cherry influence really comes through and it's got a nice sweet finish on it i mean you just gotta love a good island man all that smokey peaty briny i mean this stuff just tastes like honey baked ham with like jam on it like honey baked ham bonfires with maybe a little like plum jam or something or some kind of dark berry jam spread on it that sounds good right it's just delicious i'm telling you i love it don't let people scare you you got to have an aisle on your list though so definitely our bag uber doll on the shelf for sure hopefully we were able to round off 10 of these without taking you know an hour and a half man that stuff every time i take a sip of that you got to give me just a second try not to show the old face on camera because none of you guys want to see my old face but every time i take a sip of that stuff i almost break off the old face it's that good that stuff is delicious definitely not on the list because this shirt and hell isn't easy to find but man if you happen to see a bottle of that stuff and you feel like cracking off a couple hundred bucks because it's not the cheapest stuff in the world side note that blue run 14 is some good [ __ ] a couple housekeeping items before we go real quick patina life new shirt releasing pretty soon so check
