tired eyes purple-haired cult leader edgy sim magnet himself hitoshi shinzo and his quirk brainwashing in today's video i'll be discussing the quirk that belongs to cluck cluck the darkness is my blackened endless abyss as we enjoy some revelry in the dark with the truly edgelordiest of all quirks dark shadow dark shadow is an emitter type quirk which first appeared in chapter 4 of the my hero manga and episode 4 of the anime this quirk grants its user a shadowy monster-like being from within their body that they can materialize and de-materialize at will this creature essentially acts as the user's guardian acting as a living appendage that follows all of its master's commands loyally protecting its host regardless of the state it finds itself in the creature itself is sentient capable of speech and has its own personality i guess you could say this quirk takes the song you got a friend in me to a whole new level once materialized dark shadow's body is made up from a substance known as shadow energy and it remains constantly attached to the user through what shihai kuroiro calls an umbilical cord and while dark shadow is capable of speaking it can also communicate telepathically with its user once summit as for why it and tokoyami have bird heads i have absolutely no idea but the real question is do you think the carpet matches the drapes like is he human all the way down or is he you know because that might explain why he likes to keep to himself but horrifying images of cloacas aside for the love of god please don't look up what a cloak is my eyes are still burning why do i do this to myself now it's time to talk about this quirk's abilities while you would think that a quirk that acts like an extended appendage would be good for close quarters combat dark shadow is actually far more useful at range while the user themselves focuses on defending themselves and staying out of the danger zone they can command dark shadow to attack their opponents off in the distance dark shadow attacks primarily by extending or enlarging its claw-like arms and swinging ferociously at its target the strength in which dark shadow attacks is entirely dependent on the lighting in the surrounding area yes that's right not only is the proper lighting good for that overcompensating selfie you so desperately need to temporarily satisfy your frail insecurities and thirst for attention but it is also great for making your shadowy bird beast best friend uber powerful dark shadow draws its power from darkness so the more dark in the area it occupies the more powerful it becomes as for defense dark shadow and its user don't share the same senses meaning that if it or its user gets knocked out or hurt the other doesn't this allows dark shadow to intercept incoming attacks on its user and take the brunt force of any impact acting almost as a human shield for its user now this sounds all well and good considering dark shadow is a shadow monster and technically can't die until you realize that this creature has sentience and feels pain that's pretty messed up tokoyami because of this almost impenetrable defense and insane long-range capabilities many people in the my hero world believe this quirk to be almost invincible when it comes to one-on-one combat keyword being almost however i haven't even touched any of this quirk super moves and there are actually quite a few firstly we have the super move known as black abyss for this move tokoyami orders dark shadow to cover the upper half of his body protecting him like a suit of armor because nothing says friendship more than wearing your friend like a bodysuit by wearing dark shadow like this it compensates for tokoyami's weaknesses at close range by expanding the claws that envelop his hands he can attack her defense as well as propel himself to increase his mobility so this makes dark shadow extremely dangerous both up close and at a distance talk about a powerful quirk while making use of black abyss tokoyami can utilize another super move called piercing twilight claws for this move while remaining enveloped in dark shadow tokoyami extends out one of his arms causing dark shadow's claw to shoot out a great distance attacking a desired target this move was first used against a queen of all sass herself tatami nakagame during the hero provisional license exam however while piercing twilight claws are good for facing off against one opponent if tokoyami happens to be facing off against multiple enemies he can use another similar move called covert black ops arms where instead of extending one of his arms tokoyami extends boat of death causing dark shadow's claws to grow to a gigantic size which dark shadow uses to crush any and all opposing threats getting crushed by giant claws is bad enough but getting crushed by giant claws made of literal darkness is next level hardcore now you may be thinking wow dark shadow was pretty amazing mr lunchtime but it doesn't really offer much in mobility does it oh dave you poor poor small feeble minded little man how wrong you are because there's a super move exactly for that called black fallen angel for this amazing technique tokoyami challenges his inner peka and uses dark shadow to take flight that's right ladies and gentlemen this little chicken right here can sword just like an eagle by wrapping his cloak around dark shadow and having dark shadow grab and lift him off the ground tokoyami can take advantage of dark shadow's ability to float and the two can fly into the air basically tokoyami makes a floating shadow monster the shadow monster picks up tokoyami boom bye bye birdie look don't think about it too much okay because i did now my head hurts and everything tastes like table but laws of physics aside by using this technique tokoyami and dark shadow can take flight and when going at their absolute limit they can even reach speeds that match that of the great hawks powerful versatile good up close at a distance offensively and defensively man we got the makings of a top tier quirk on our hands by combining the power of black fallen angel and black abyss tokoyami can perform another super move called abyssal black body savage he really likes to take the edgelord thing seriously doesn't he by using black fallen angel to pick up speed tokoyami propels himself towards his enemy and once in range he covers himself using black abyss creating two large shadow claws around his hands while flying towards his opponent he strikes them with blinding speed and is capable of attacking multiple enemies at once with this technique but while each and every one of these moves is extremely powerful none of them compare to the utter edginess and destructive force that is this quirk's ultimate move ragnarok in an area with sufficient darkness tokoyami unleashes dark shadow in a strengthened night form and allows the quirk to go berserk while in this mode dark shadow grows to humongous proportions and gains enough strength to break through absolutely any obstacle in its way the first time we see this form is against the dead rogue convict moon fish in which dark shadow easily and almost instantaneously utterly obliterates the veteran villain revelry in the dark indeed but unfortunately even though this quirk is basically an omega level ability just like every other quirk dark shadow does come with its fair share of weaknesses the most notable and dangerous of which is its reaction to light you see dark shadow actually has two forms depending on how much light is in the area and they're aptly named light form and dark form when dark shadow is in bright light or just out during the day he takes on his light form while in this form dark shadow becomes timid and docile making him easier to control by the user but also severely weakening him with him being unable to come anywhere close to his full strength in dark form not only this but while in bright light there is a limitation on how long he can stay materialized which the more stress put on him and damage taken lowering that time significantly once dark shadow reaches this materialization limit he will retreat to a darkened area and if there is none in the vicinity he will instead shoot back inside its user where he will need time to recharge before coming out again so basically while you have this badass and amazing super power your arch nemesis is flashlight man this weakness to light also gives this quirk a massive disadvantage against light producing powers such as bakugo's explosions or tonoroki's flames now you may be thinking well at least we still have the unstoppable dark form right except death 2 is a double-edged sword while it's true that in darkened areas dark shadow becomes exponentially more powerful displayed not only in its raw strength vicious fighting style and its insane increase in size but the quark's personality also changes too unlike the timid dasa light form dark form makes dark shadow unruly and rebellious meaning that it's a lot harder for the user to control so while light mode is the adorable young and naive pre-teen stage dark mode is the angsty mid-puberty it's not just a phase my chemical romance speaks to me on a spiritual level that you'll never understand mom and dad kind of teenager but if having an angsty teen living inside you doesn't put you off wanting dark shadow this next weakness probably will as if dark shadow gets too powerful in his dark form it will gradually take over the quirk user's body with its expanding darkness once this happens dark shadow is able to force its user to move around against their will leaving them with no control over their body so while you have free control over dark shadow during the day if not kept in check it has free control over you during the night this is more likely to happen if the user begins to feel negative emotions now i'm sorry but if being controlled by a gigantic shadow monster emanating from your chest doesn't scare you you got some issues or some kinky nights in but even with all of these weaknesses this quirk does have some potential if the user could train their quirk to become immune or at least more resistant to the effects of light and the lack thereof this quirk would be near unstoppable having full control over a gigantic shadow monster that is strong enough to take down even the most powerful of villains would be opaf by combining the super move black fallen angel and dark shadow's gigantic dark form the user could essentially make an enormous dark energy aircraft which would be capable of carrying not just a quirks user but also their allies but the greatest potential this quirk offers is the potential of friendship ever feel lonely and just want a hug get the shadow monster that lives inside you to wrap your comforting arms around you and boom you got a nice little cuddle buddy need someone to tell all your problems too but you're afraid that someone will leak them out he ain't gonna tell nobody got that new sick co-op only game everyone has been talking about but you got no one to play it with player 2 has entered the game it's every lonely introvert's dream and that's everything you need to know about the quirk dark shadow overall it's a pretty amazing quirk in terms of both versatility and power it's definitely up there in the top 10 most powerful and probably most underrated powers in the entire series although that whole losing control over your own body ting when you're sad and
