TKA Parent-Teacher Fellowship Update- March 2021

[Music] welcome back tka families from what was hopefully a wonderful spring break filled with lots of quality family time and some rest and relaxation i'm gina mihalko and i'd like to thank you for tuning in for a few quick march ptf updates over spring break we had another enhancement to our beautiful campus where a number of named bricks were installed throughout our front covered walkways these look really nice and add a great personal touch to our school and they are a touching reminder of all of the support our tka families show for our school thank you so much for your ongoing generosity at this time i'd like to introduce riley o'neill director of student ministries to open our march update meeting in a word of prayer thanks gina and i hope everybody had a great spring break it's so hard to believe we're already at the fourth quarter would you join me in prayer father we thank you so much for uh bringing us this far this school year and just all the blessings that you've provided for the kings academy and the students here and the teachers and lord you've given us such a wonderful year considering all the circumstances god we continue to ask that you would bless this campus bless the students protect us god as we finish out this year well and for your glory and your honor god we lift up just all of the all of the families that god you know what's going on in their lives you know what's what they need and the struggles and the blessings that have come their way god i just pray that you would bless the families bless our students and lord to you we will give all the honor and glory pray in jesus name amen and now i'd love to turn it over to our elementary principal mr adam miller welcome parents we are so excited to be in this last nine weeks and that we have been able to be in school together uh this year so i remember a year ago at this time when all of us were at home remote learning and what a difference a year makes we've been excited the students have done a great job and the teachers have done a great job we are already planning it ahead for some fun events towards the end of the year so our kindergarten graduation is on may 24th at 9 30 a.m and parents are welcome to attend that event we will have that event streaming for those that are not able to attend so grandparents family members that are in different parts of the country our siblings will be able to watch that streaming event we'll also have sixth grade graduation the following day may 25th at 9 00 a.m so we would love for parents to attend at that as well so we have that on campus and celebrate our students successes and we have many students that have represented the kings academy and your family well this year so we just wrapped up the math olympics and we had our uh fifth and sixth grade students that placed well um so we're excited to release that on our social media and our newsletter platforms and also the spelling bee we are participating in the scripps national spelling bee and we're sending two students from our school um that are participating in the regional round for the spelling bee so there is much to celebrate and our students are doing a great job of representing our school well as they compete academically for our school and their achievements are another thing that we're going to highlight towards the end of the year and welcome parents to attend us for those events so again we are so thankful for the school year that we've had we're going to finish strong and we are looking forward to a a great summer break and we're looking forward to a strong start next year as well so thank you for all the families that re-enrolled and we are excited as we have many new families coming to kings academy as well and now i'd like to turn it over to mrs seppo the middle school and high school principal good morning i pray each of your families had a restful spring break we are thrilled to have begun the final quarter of the year i am so thankful for all that we have been blessed with this year and have had the opportunity to be together in traditional classes activities athletics and extracurriculars as we look ahead there are some important things upcoming beginning this week our academic counselors are visiting all classrooms of students who will be in grades 7 through 12 next year to help explain course registration discuss the strategy of class selection and walk students through the online course registration portal online course registration will be open until april 18th parents are encouraged to talk with your students regarding the schedules before they are submitted counselors will be available for parent and student meetings throughout the month of april and may around campus students are campaigning for student government association offices applying for leadership positions next year and we are also looking forward to hosting our junior and senior formal in may put on by the junior class we are so thankful to have had the opportunity to continue with so many wonderful student life activities this year the week of april 19th we will be administering the iowa achievement test for students in grades seventh and eighth students will have a special schedule of classes and tests during those days please keep in mind that we will be having semester exams at the end of this semester the exam schedule will be sent home upcoming outlining exam days and half day schedules for the last week of school thank you parents for your tremendous support this year we are so grateful and thankful to have had the opportunity to be with your students have a great day thank you mr miller and mrs seppo for those updates i am always amazed at everything that is happening on this campus throughout the year lastly ptf is busy planning one of our most favorite events of the school year teacher appreciation week and that will be occurring the week of april 26th room parents just had zoom calls this week to begin discussing the exciting details and this information will be coming home to parents mid-april so be on the lookout for that i'd like to invite you to our next meeting which is on april 13th where we will be sharing the specifics of these fun-filled activities such as our theme and the individual events during this week-long celebration of our amazing and dedicated teachers in closing we would like to thank you for your interest your involvement and for partnering with us throughout the entire school year it's this home school connection that truly is a big part of what makes tka so special have a wonderful day and we look forward to seeing you next month
