This Survival Kit Could Save Your Life: ESEE ADVANCED SURVIVAL KIT.

welcome back to another episode of jailbreak overlander i'm richie and this is jailbreak and in this video i'm going to answer i'm going to say 30 to 40 emails asking me about the essie all-in-one advanced survival system if you've followed me for any length of time you know that i'm down with survival systems pre-made making my own etc and since i did the video on the uncharted supply 72 hour pro which i'll leave a link right here i've got a lot of emails asking me about this particular setup sc knives has been around since 1997 that was started by two guys and i'll explain their entire story but these guys offer not only survival and jungle training but they offer survival and jungle survival kits starting with something you can keep in your pocket something you can keep in your cargo pocket something you can keep in your vehicle or strap onto your backpack or an all-in-one all-inclusive survival system like this right here and that's what we're going to talk about today so you're going to want to sit back you're going to want to relax and you're going to want to check this out [Music] so [Music] so here's the deal in 1997 jeff randall and mike perrin started down the path of reshaping the manner in which the survival and wilderness industry carried out business they had become frustrated with the endless amount of exaggeration and hype often associated with the quote-unquote survival gear and training they launched randall's adventure and training to bring realistic tools and knowledge to the consumer market they were under contract with the peruvian air force and they started a school of jungle survival also known by the acronym e-s-s-e-l they introduced many clients to the art of jungle survival in the vast peruvian amazon jungle after a number of years operating in south america they relocated the training stateside and launched a sister company to produce high quality field grade knives and gears i.e e-s-e-e or s-e knives in the world of factory knives survival gear and wilderness training sc and randall's adventure and training is one of the only companies where the owners and employees all live the lifestyle of the gear they produce and the training they teach no suit no tie just hard one ground truth that is reflected in some of the world's best knives gear and training and that's why i'm doing this video so here we go okay so like i just told you essie is famous for making knives they make really high quality made in the united states knives they are totally totally trusted and these things are a stall worth we'll put it that way [Applause] this video i've already covered this the pocket survival kit and i've also covered the premium version of the pocket survival kit and again links to that will be right here but we're going to put these aside for today and we're going to focus on this right here the essie advanced survival kit now first of all this comes in a beautiful backpack i love backpacks i have triple art design i have mystery ranch i have kefaru backpacks and this pack itself is phenomenal just all the way around from the incredibly well stitched molly on the back to the compression straps that they include and you can make this into a backpack with the two other straps that they include so that's a score so right off the bat let's start with this [Applause] i'm gonna be totally honest just like i am with everything else because i bought this they did not send this to me they give you a carabiner and it's a really nice one and right on it it is in blaze and randall's adventure training it's a locking carabiner it seems to be a very good quality the only downside to me and i get it is it's made in taiwan so there's that i wish it wasn't made in taiwan but i understand that everything for the most part in the united states is now outsourced thanks to our government not doing its job but i'm not going to go into that so i will digress let's start with the outside there's a compressions compression strap right here so you can add a rain jacket on the side a hooded sweatshirt on the side if you were so inclined so let's take this off real quick very nice hardware all the way around and of course it's emblazoned with azula gear okay so let's start on the front put these three straps aside essie includes their awesome morale patches every single solitary time and it says sc knives training and equipment group since 1997 like i just told you on the very front of this you will notice there is a id or passport pouch right here with velcro holding it in there's also an essie's knives card inside and of course on the back there are short-term survival tips including signaling for first aid installed right inside so that's beautiful there you go this is good for your uh id your passport etc and when you open this up it's a map case and that is mint right there on its own you put your map right in there fold it up out of harm's way it's protected from the elements completely you are good to go they also include a quick release keychain sweet now you can use this on its own or keep it on the pack you got a big field of loop patch right here which is mint open up the inside the very first pocket on the inside we've got a four by seven and a half abdomen pad abd pad and it's made by h medical corporation so there you go you got a field dressing right there boom right off the bat and that's all there is in this outside pocket so let's pull open these massive ykk zippers and fyi this is such a desirable little pack they sell these on their own this empty little backpack which i believe is made in america costs 169 for the empty pack and you know what a lot of people are rolling their eyes but here's the deal things cost money on earth period 169 if i didn't already have this i would buy it on its own and make it my own but i don't have to because i have this so there's that let's open these massive ykk zippers and see what's inside first it folds out in a clamshell fashion which is phenomenal folds right out you can get it everything there's two pouches on this side with really good elastic and then mesh so you can see right through and then this side is open with two compartments on the inside so let's just ignore this really awesome knife i can already see in this front pouch you have two packets in a ziploc bag of utility flame now i've talked about utility flame before this is in my e e bag of my own that i made this is a gel that they give to the military you take this you can put this on wet leaves and it'll start fire you can put this on a steak bone and it'll start fire this stuff is phenomenal it's last ditch you can't make a fire any other way this will get her done so there's that in my e e bag i have this and right next to it i have two packets of burn gel because if you squirt this on something especially in the dark and you happen to get this on your hand this catches fire no matter what so i keep burn gel right next to it let's go into the second elastic pouch right here notice the nice elastic fabric this is a i love this pack period i love it inside this pack right inside this pocket right here you have two actual real world emergency survival bank blankets this is four foot by s by eight foot four foot by eight foot so this emergency blanket would actually work for me and they give you two of them so this isn't one of those emergency kits that you get in like i don't know the uncharted supply kit where you take it out and as you're trying to use it you're already ripping it these are legit and these will last a while these are for real and they give you two of them so this one you could use to keep the weather off you or keep your body heat in and this other one you could use to make a windbreak or a rain shelter so these are a score so there's that also there is six whirlpack water collecting pouches which are very good to use these stand up on their own you use this to collect contaminated water you can drop a few tablets in it seal it up for a few minutes let the tablets do their job and viola you've got purified water so there is that now into the main portion i told you these two guys started training the peruvian army they did jungle training in south america until they eventually moved back home to north america but their jungle training shows in their particular kit so let's remember that we've got this carabiner right here the first thing that you see when you open this is an se knife and it's connected inside here to another quick release keychain which is awesome now these are my knives all right this happens to be an sc laser strike one of the first knives not buff burst but one of the first knives they've made it's a really nice knit uh blade it's got a nice big blade on it it's got a little bit of subtle jimping on it and it also has a spot for a bow drill to make fire but if you'll notice almost all of my blades are earth colors you see what i mean almost all of my blades are earth colors and those are awesome but in an emergency situation it's night time it's bad weather you're freaking out your adrenaline's running if i drop this there's a good chance that i could lose it this particular sc knife i'm not going to lose because of the bright orange handle and this is a really sweet little blade this is an se4 i never bought one unfortunately this comes with it now this is not made in china this is made in america this is a serious blade and they throw it in with the kit so 169 for the backpack 100 bucks for the knife this thing's already paid for itself almost and we just opened it so let's put that there the next thing you come across is a i believe this is a six by six sixty by 6 60 inch by 60 inch sill tarp that is also a signaling signaling survival panel nice and bright orange this will absolutely keep the rain on i just broke my light but that's okay it's got eyelid eyelets built into it and this is not something you toss away this is reusable you can use this more than once and it is made by a company called freeborn gear that's the beauty of this little system everything in here isn't just a bunch of crap that you get on ebay like all the other survival kits that you paid too much money for these guys thought about this and these guys made this and it is thus far in my opinion legit they give you a pencil headlamp pencil headlamps have been around forever they are they're a stalwart these things work when you need them they even give you the sticker if you're into that kind of thing and they throw in three duracell copper tops not made in china batteries you gotta love that they give you two large contractor bags again these are in bright yellow you can use this to gather nuts berries you can use this to fill with leaves to use as a sleeping surface or a pillow you can use this to keep the weather off of you etc if you've got a survival kit of any type and you don't have at least one contractor bag in it you're doing something wrong jmo okay this is 30 feet of real climbing rope 30 feet of real climbing rope this isn't garbage this is legit stuff you could actually use this and i would trust this to carry my weight i have no affiliation with essie whatsoever at all i'm just really happy to finally see somebody that sells a survival kit for under 500 bucks that is actually so far worth the price of admission okay on the inside of the pack there's two pockets one with another clear panel on the inside and another one that's a velcro four-way that opens up like this and inside here you'll find one of their emergency pocket survival kits and right on the back it says jungletraining.com these are very useful there's a lot of useful stuff inside here for instance i don't want to have to pack it all up again i just opened the wrong one for instance and again if you want to see the contents of this the link will be right there also inside here there's a survival fishing kit and this is made by a company called best glide they make these for the military this is a great little kit it's got reusable tape that goes around the outside of the tin that makes it waterproof it has fishing rod fishing weights it has fishing line fishing weights fish hooks a bobber and i believe a couple of flies inside i carry these i actually have one in my pack right here i carry these all the time because it's not something you want to make and i've used that in the white mountains on its own to catch a trout it worked and i didn't have a camera i don't always have a camera with me in the larger pocket in the middle you'll find this badass little container that's got a large heavy duty ranger band holding it closed that also says randleadventures.com and on the cover it's emblazoned with essie's knives which is really cool if you like stuff like that so let's put the pack to the side for the moment i love that backpack man oh i love that take the top off and let's see what we got inside what is is it a bunch of filler or is it actual stuff that you could use to save yourself the first thing you're going to find inside here is a right in the rain notebook and this is a essie knives version it isn't your average everyday right in the rain waterproof paper notebook it's a randall's adventure and training version which means on the inside there's all sorts of helpful survival tips including morse code all sorts of other things to do if you're lost how to start a fire determining approximate distance across a river because nobody knows that and that's good to know i come across rivers all the time and i just go with blind luck and poke in the bottom with a stick this also has information on how to use your compass built right into it which is a beautiful thing so that is a score right there on its own there's also a sc signaling mirror that's a high quality mirror with a small lanyard and there's also signal mirror use on the back believe it or not a lot of people wouldn't know how to use a signal mirror or even understand what it's for this explains you how to use this small but very effective device right on the back so you can't lose the instructions also my one gripe i wish there was a right in the rain pin to go along with the right in the rain notebook but instead they give you a pencil and you know what for the what they charge for this they probably couldn't afford to give a pen because they'd have to get they'd be losing money on this so i get it so not only did you get a real made in the united states sc4 knife with the sheath you also get an actual swiss army knife not some hencho in china you know swas army knife this is the real deal with all the corresponding blades inside small large flathead philips head can opener tin opener scissors and tweezers and a toothpick i mean that's legit right there that is the real deal so you're gonna love that these guys made this the way i would make it so there is that 25 storm proof waterproof matches with a striker on the top and the striker on the bottom the more strikers the better uh to go along with the whirlpack bags they give you an entire bottle of potable aqua water purification tablets i prefer a soil water filter but these work all day that's all there is to it they also include an actually well-made pocket survival saw okay there's a lot of these and they all look the same unless you know what you're looking at you really look at them this is a decent little saw for what it is and it's well made so this wouldn't actually snap in your hands these right here with minimal effort will take down a limb as big as this would cover you know what i mean two three four inch limbs these are legit it's not my first choice but survival situation it will work kevlar rope and it appears to be a hundred feet of it and a light my fire pouch from sweden that comes with an actual light my fire ferecium rod made in sweden these things are beautiful they're tried and trued and they aren't hencho in china which is lovely some wax jute string a significant amount of duct tape that's a lot of duct tape that's probably a good 25 30 feet let me check 50 feet 50 feet of emergency duct tape my bad 50 inches 50 feet i'm an idiot 50 inches of emergency duct tape a small pocket micro light okay these things are beautiful because they're small they've got a nice little clip built onto them and they even give you the instructions in case you were somehow baffled by this thing's operation and just could not figure it out give it a squeeze and there you go you've also got some marking tape this is for hanging on trees in case you're hoping someone's going to come find you or you don't want to find yourself walking in circles which can happen to even the best trackers especially an emergency situation your adrenaline's up you're getting nervous it's getting dark the rain's getting worse the snow is getting deeper you find yourself walking in circles this will help prevent that as you leave them on a trees like breadcrumbs but better because birds won't eat these so there's that snare wire lots and lots of snare wire that looks to be i don't know a lot we'll call that a lot okay 25 foot of brass snare wire and they also give you the cards inside to show you how to make a snare etc deadfall traps figure four traps all that stuff is included i've carried these type of cards in my pocket for at least 12 years in my pocket in my wallet let's see if i'm lying if i'm lying i'm dying there's one sc knives how to navigate a river and here's the other one sc knives how to signal in an emergency they're good to have they they're as strong as a credit card or an id and you keep them in your wallet till you need them okay so i've got three gripes i wish this was a right in the rain pen i wish this wasn't made in taiwan i wish this was a sawyer water filter and i wish this emergency whistle was was orange because i'll lose that in a minute but it is there this is also kevlar tripwire 85 feet 80 foot-pounds test tripwire is good to have you can use it for a variety of things or you can use it as a trip wire in an emergency situation and if you've taken any of their courses over the years you'll know how to use tripwire and then you come across this sun toe baseplate compass user guide and if you have a compass and you're not proficient with them this is incredibly helpful and then they give you a sump sun sun toe base plate compass right here sweet they give you an entire encyclopedia of survival tips on those small waterproof last for ten years that i can attest to plastic cards there's several of them inside of here and last but not least inside of here there's a couple of sewing needles in a little bit of fabric for repair work etc plus the sewing this fabric keeps you from losing the needles and then this bad ass little container isn't just cool to look at but you can use this for purifying water cooking food etc so there is everything that you get in this kit and it is incredibly worthy i'm gonna leave a link so you can get your own this kit right here with all this if you can't find your way home you'll never find your way home this setup is incredibly well made these guys walk it like they talk it they teach jungle and military survival straight up that's what they do and after all their years they whittled it all down into little things that jerk-offs like me and you can carry in our pocket a cargo pocket attached to a backpack or just carry it all on its own and i'm not i'm i'm very glad with this this was a hundred dollars cheaper than the 72 hour pro kit that i just reviewed that was absolute garbage it was just it was just a bag from china filled with things from china that were all garbage it'll break period this is definitely worthy i would add a leatherman tool to this and i would add maybe a flashlight just a regular old small flashlight but otherwise you're basically covered in hair no pun intended so i gotta give this a huge thumbs up and again i have zero affiliation with sc knives i've just been a fan for a long time as you can see but hopefully this answered your questions i got between 30 and 50 emails asking me about this i was not familiar with this kit i had seen it for years i finally
