okay there are levels to leaks there could be ones that are pretty much just as harmless as just being oh the new iPhone 15 coming out in 2023 is probably all of the models are probably going to have the dynamic Island on it we kind of expected this from Apple but leaks can be really dangerous like the one that happened to Tesla in 2008 where an employee was leaking trade secrets about the company supposedly could have brought Tesla completely down because any competitor could have just stole all of their research and development time that they put into this stuff if you're interested in that links are in the description of this article leakers obviously want to stay Anonymous so they don't get exposed and then they can't do what they want to do anymore but this whole thing leaves a huge shroud of mystery around leakers what are their motivations for example a story came out a few months ago and I'm finding this on Forbes a YouTuber named Dan Allen would be given ndas which is non-disclosure agreements from companies which is something you sign that say Hey I'm not going to leak this but he he would break those just to go under a different Alias on a different account called the real Insider and then leak everything about those games he was just doing these leaks for a clout he was ruining possibly any secrecy in the gaming industry he was most likely not making any money off of these Lakes just getting clout on a separate account on the internet but Cloud isn't the only motivator there are certain ways that are possible that maybe you could make money off of leaking things kind of like how in the Tesla story where the employee actually sold this to a news outlet they did make money off of this was it a significant amount amount of money we don't really know because according to some answers from people online and just common knowledge news outlets are pretty strapped for money as it is so if they go out and pay for leaks that may or may not be true that's just a risk that they're not willing to take you know how little reporters make so Cloud seems like it could be a driving factor and money doesn't really seem like it's typically is that's where you can dig a lot deeper into leaks because a leaker could just be an employee of that company if you want a quick example here say a company like Nvidia has like 26 000 employees I'm I'm guessing a good chunk of those no information that the public shouldn't know and they could just be a leaker a leak could also be a complete accident where maybe an employee just you know mistakenly posted something early or posted information that wasn't supposed to be there this happens more often than you would think but Elite could also come from an anonymous account that's like a friend of a friend that works for a company you know this information can get out but did you ever think that it's possible that a leaker could be hired by the company that they're leaking about Justice try to limit tests the community for feedback before they launch a product they could actually see how the community is going to react beforehand say like this Leak with the RTX 4070 that sourced through Moore's Law is dead which is a YouTube Channel but they're saying it allegedly will cost 750 U.S and if you just see why this here very quickly like Daniel Owen well that sucks you don't need many words to express that maybe the 40 70 being 750 it's a lot more than anyone expected and maybe more than people are willing to pay this is just Theory crafting but maybe whoever leaked this to Moore's Law is dead actually works for NVIDIA before the card launches like it's rumored to launch in April and it's still mid to late March right now they now have the opportunity to change the price before it launches to see if maybe this was over ambitious it also makes you think like with the 4060 TI is this something that people are interested in if it costed under 500 and had 30 70 level performance is that something people would be into and what makes you think whenever somebody has a leak that is incorrect was the leak actually wrong or was something just changed before the product launched another crazy thought is even if these people don't work for the company they weren't specifically hired to put leaks out there AMD Nvidia Intel Apple Tesla could actually look at the leaks and they could see what the public response is that's what happens when a leak isn't really that harmful it didn't reveal any trade secrets that could completely destroy the company like the test leak I mentioned earlier but if it's just something simple then it's kind of harmless it's like oh it was it was a bit too ambitious for our company so maybe we should reel it back in after seeing the response to that leak The credibility then of leakers is kind of up in the air like did they work for the companies some Lakers never get exposed they they never get found out who it was giving that information it could easily be that that person actually worked for the company or they're putting out leaks that isn't harmful for the company but actually is beneficial to their marketing leaks also generate some sort of hype for the community but there's one other angle to look at leakers from it is also possible that someone could leak something that would harm their competitor saying the case with the leak of this RTX 4070 being 750 what if the community feedback is so bad about this but what if whoever leaked it was actually someone from AMD maybe not technically misinformation but information that makes the community push back and ruin some company reputation there's so many angles that you can look at leakers from and because of their anonymity it's really hard to tell what background they come from and if they really should be trusted and in the grand scheme of things does a leak really matter are just gonna say something that's going to be at the announcement of the product you might see something a month early I mean for geeks that are really into it it's pretty fun to Theory craft and look at that stuff when it's like you're like a main hobby but in the making of this video I actually looked up leaker exposed as a real employee from the company I was trying to see if this actually happened I couldn't find any stories of this actually being the case generally speaking at least the open public companies do not encourage leaking you can see this article here someone was working at Facebook and they're leaking things out to the public and what Facebook did is they actually walked this person who was leaking stuff down they told him that he was going to be getting a promotion and then little did you know he's walking right into a trap in a meeting room where he got interrogated for leaking things and later later completely fired this is all I could really find publicly about leaker's quote unquote working for companies but have you guys ever heard a story where the leaker was actually exposed as being hired specifically to leak by the company I couldn't find one but maybe you can't and should we really care about anyways because you always take leaks with a grain of salt that's all I got about leaks I just wanted to mention real quick guys your boy got a gaming chair maybe missed the other chair don't worry it is still here this is my other white chair oh my God um it became my jacket holder yeah that's been it for me I'll see you guys in the next video peace [Music]
