hey guys welcome back to my channel and if you are new here then welcome my name is Maddy and today I will be talking about why I hated the book after so much okay so I am anticipating for this to be a long video cuz I have so much to say on this book so be sure to grab a snack be sure to grab some coffee I know I have some coffee right here so because I'm pretty sure this video is going to be very long so much to say and I just got some lipstick on the cup darn it I hate when that happens okay so this will be a review and a discussion and there will be some spoilers but of course I will warn you when spoilers come up even though I wouldn't recommend you to read this book I will still warn you when the spoilers coming up just in case you watch you so with that said let's just get into the summary of this book so this is a book about an 18 year old girl named Tessa she is starting college and when she gets to college on her first day there she meets this guy named Harden and this book is basically about them falling in love falling in love getting back together breaking up getting back together there's some abuse in there and that's pretty much the plot it's just them arguing alright so first let's get some things out of the way so I understand that this is a One Direction fan fiction it was if you don't know it's was originally a One Direction fan fiction on Wattpad that got published and I just want to say even though I hated this book that does not mean that I hate fan fiction in fact I used to read fan fiction I used to read Fruits Basket fan fiction which is an anime I used to be obsessed with reading Fruits Basket fan fiction and I had come across some amazing fan fiction that actually do deserve a published so just because this was a fan fiction doesn't mean I hate fan fiction also this does not mean that I don't like one direction in fact I like them I don't love them but I like their music so my dislike of this book isn't biased because I don't like one direction I actually do and one more disclaimer I have no ill feelings towards author even though I think she made some pretty not-so-great choices towards the plot of this book based on the abuse aspect but I have no problem with her personally I'm I'm sure she's a great person I just really didn't like her book okay so let's start off with the character so our first character is Tessa that is our main character okay we're really gonna get into some ranting right now so Tessa is the most self-indulgent entitled selfish stuck-up pretentious I have ever had the displeasure of reading about I would say she is the love child of Bella Swan from Twilight and Abbey from beautiful disaster like if these two characters had a baby that would be Tessa like think of every bad character trait a female heroine could have throw them all together and that is Tessa but she is that bad literally there is nothing I liked about her character at all and the worst part is that we're supposed to love Tessa we're supposed to see every single other female character in this book as racy and Tessa is supposed to be the good girl in comparison which i think is so wrong so she is very conservative she is a virgin of course because every conservative good girl is a virgin in new adult books I'm so sick of that truth and because of this she Jane's every girl in this book she thinks she's better than everyone she thinks that all other girls are worthless because they decide to be sexually active and they decide to leave more risque lives than she would and she just finds them annoying she judges them in her narrative and sometimes to their face for example the first time she meets her roommate this is what she says this roommate was nothing but nice to her and she just judged her in her narrative she says this the dresses she picks out are so inappropriate that I keep looking around waiting for someone to jump out with a hidden camera to tell me this is all a joke you don't even know this girl and it doesn't stop at her roommate there is this other girl whose sole purpose in the book is to be that girl that is all over the guy Tessa likes which is hardened so she's seen as the bad girl because she's technically taking her man so this is what Tessa says about Molly it's only Tuesday and she's already used up her skank quota for the day again she does not know this girl but she doesn't she judges her by her appearance that is so rude like Wow way to give some female support and another reason why Molly's character is so flat and her sole purpose in the book is to make tests to look better in comparison because Molly is the risk a bad girl who dresses like a even though she dresses fine it's just Tessa slut-shaming and Tessa is the good girl who dresses conservatively so there Farber is supposed to side more with her because she has better morals and she is not as reckless as Molly is she doesn't dress like a so we're supposed to like test some more but this kind of setup failed because I only saw Tessa as a judgmental pretentious that's all I saw her ads because of how she judged Molly in her head and we're supposed to side with her because she's conservative but really she just came off as so annoying and so rude and just flat-out offensive oh and she also judges her love interest okay so let's bring up some quotes this is my heat she says about Hardin why is he so rude if anything he should be grateful that I'm not judging him for the way he has destroyed his body with holes and tattoos okay maybe I am judging him a little at least she's self-aware I'm at least polite about our differences and my home tattoos and piercings are not a normal thing I always have to have my hair combed my eyebrows plucked and my clothes clean and I retired it's just the way it is again she thinks she's better than everyone how dare she says that he should be grateful that she's not judging him you should ridiculing people in the first place it's so rude and so disrespectful even though honestly harden kind of deserves to be judged like that because he is an she also says this about Hardin there is no way a rude disrespectful sentence is so ridiculous tattooed jerk like Hardin could possibly enjoy these amazing works and she's talking about books the only thing I can picture him reading is the back of a beer bottle witness stereotype honestly so apparently if you have tattoos you shouldn't be a reader that's like not socially acceptable so if any of you guys have tattoos I'm sorry but you need to get off this channel because you're not a reader you need to just leave because anyone who has tattoos should it be a reader even though it doesn't make any sense I'm kidding obviously but that's legally what she says how disrespectful it doesn't matter what you look like if you have tattoos if you have piercings it doesn't matter you can be a reader it doesn't even make sense why can't a person who have tattoos why can't they read that doesn't make any sense anyone can read anyone can enjoy books but according to Tessa only girls like her can read what I can't find the logic in that and I honestly don't understand how this girl is 18 years old because she has the naive brain of a five-year-old she is so immature even though she claims that she hasn't her high IQ which apparently she does she's good in academics but in other situations with relationships and with being social she is so immature and she is so immature when it comes to sex so naive about it that it's downright laughable apparently if you are a virgin or an 18-year old virgin you're not supposed to know anything about sex that's like doesn't make any sense if you're a virgin that doesn't matter you still know like what sex entails but Tessa is so naive that it is ridiculous her character was way too underdeveloped for example she would mention that she doesn't do something but then in the next paragraph or in the next few pages she would do just that she was constantly contradicting to herself to the point where it caused for a lot of plot holes in the story and just made her characters seem really flat for example she would say that she doesn't drink and then in the next few pages she would drink she would say that she doesn't get naked in front of people but she eventually are soon after gets naked in front of hardened yeah she would say she doesn't party and then she goes to a party at the next paragraph I'm like I don't trust you at all because you just contradict yourself constantly to the point where her character made no sense I'm like I don't even know what to believe from you because you just keep doing what you say you don't do it just it made no sense okay moving on from Tessa she is by far the worst character in this book she is the worst female heroine I have ever read but coming in second is our love interest and that is Hardin aka Harry Styles who is our hero who were supposed to smooth over and think is amazing but really he's just a possessive so I'll be honest I didn't have any ill feelings towards Hardin at first like I kind of understood why he was so moody all the time because he had been through a lot in his childhood his father was never there and he witnessed his mother get raped which yeah that's traumatic but then I thought you know what I've seen characters and I've seen people in real life who have gone through something similar as Hardin or that have gone through something worse and they don't turn out to be nor is what they went through an excuse to treat people like crap it just is it it's not a good excuse there is no reason why anyone should abuse someone whether it's their partner or just their friends or people they know there's no reason and the way he treats Tessa and his friends and his family is just appalling and I really want to know what Harry Styles thinks of how he's being portrayed in this book I am actually concerned about this built chain teen has imaged because of how terrible harden is and this is a fanfiction and Harding is supposed to be happy and Harden is just a terrible person and from what I've observed Harry seems like such a nice cool guy he seems nowhere near the person that Hardin is at all but this book makes Harry look like an abusive awful person and if I were him I would be so pissed off that I'm being portrayed like this like I'm some abusive when Harry seems so nice like the author claims that she's a fan of one direction but she is literally ruining Harry Styles reputation because if anyone picking up this book isn't as familiar with Harry Styles and they know that hot this was originally a fanfic and that Hardin is supposed to be portrayed as Harry Styles they're gonna think that Harry Styles is an awful person when he's not because of how awful Hardin is that just really sucks really sucks that Harry Styles is being portrayed like this like I feel I feel really bad for him in fact I have heard I look up and research the source of this but I have heard online that her styles did speak up about how he felt about this fanfiction and he was not happy about it and he actually blocked the author on Twitter or something so that kind of proves if that is true I'm not sure if that's true but if it is that proves that he's not happy with this book and I don't blame him at all because how he's being betrayed is just disgusting to wrap up hardens character he doesn't have any other personality trait despite the fact that he's a jerk he has no personality and besides that he's flat frustrating irredeemable and just like Tesla there is not one good thing I like about him okay now let's get into the big guns the romance oh god this romance I I don't even know where to start so this romance was so underdeveloped it is pretty much in still of even though when harden and Tessa first meet they don't instantly love each other they end up becoming enemies to lovers but through the time that they hate each other their love for each other comes out so suddenly that it doesn't make sense I love that I've mentioned so many times how much I love a hit two love romance and the reason I love the enemies two lovers romance trope is that it mixed room for so much romantic development between the characters since they stopped hating each other but in the midst of them hitting each other you can kind of see their connection to each other grow you see that romantic chemistry start to grow even though they claim that they hate each other and it just it allows room for so much development in that way but in Hardin and Tessa's case they hate each other throughout this whole book because they're constantly arguing but for some bought for second reason they claim to love each other and even though there's no indication that they actually love each other like Tessa just says that she loves him but were never shown that they love each other outside of the times that they have sex were never shown they were so different from each other that the romance made zero sense along with that their relationship is the definition of a toxic relationship Hardin literally makes Tessa miserable but she claims to still be in love with him how are you how is anyone supposed to be in love with someone that 95% of the times they just fight with or who makes them feel like crap again I can Cal to me you 1 or 2 times out of the times that they have sex that they actually act like they love each other but those things are so pointless in comparison with all the times that they fight with each other all the times that Hardin abuses her so I do have some quotes writing down that I am going to share just to back up my points and how hard I mix Tessa feel and how it makes no sense that they're in love with each other so the first one is what Tessa says she says Harding repeatedly breaks my heart even though there aren't many more is to break and I love him and the next one says the Harding would hurt me emotionally he already has and I'm sure he will try again and Here I am defending him yeah like that makes sense this next one says I don't know what type of mood he'll be in after we fall asleep and I awake in his arms oh my god like you should not be afraid of your partner being abusive the next day like what kind of life is that why would you want to be with someone who you're afraid like the next day like after you guys have reconciled or after you have shown love for each other you should not be afraid that the next day that they're going to hurt you sighs that is not love oh my god this next one so this is what Harding says to Tessa he says you always push my buttons you constantly fight with me you go on dates with Zed I mean you think I like being this way do you think I like you having this control over me I hate the way you get under my skin I loathe the way I can't seem to stop thinking about you I hate you I really do you're such a pretentious little and then it thought that thought it goes from there that one oh my freaking God what is wrong with him who says that's type of thing to someone they love and this is supposed to be hardens big declaration of love for Tessa but all he's doing is just saying horrible things to her he is essentially blaming Tessa for the way he is when none of it is her fault and I guess what the author meant this to me is that she meant it to come across as like they hate each other like their relationship is imperfect but the way this scene came across was just hard and being so freakin abusive out of that paragraph I get no indication that he actually loves her at all I just see it as him just emotionally abusing her alland of course she just takes it like oh he loves me like he's saying all these horrible things about me but like he's saying it because he loves me no no and what real makes me worried is that even though this is a new adult book it's geared towards people who are what 18 to 125 or something like that that's usually the age group for new adult you know there are teenagers bringing this book because it is or was a One Direction fan fiction and the One Direction fan fee fan base is pretty young I believe they are older since one direction has been around a long time but there are still young young people in the fandom so you know they're going to be reading this book and when you are young you don't realize how wrong abuse and stuff like this is in fiction when you are older it's kind of easier to realize that this is fiction and that this is wrong but when you're a young you are so impressionable so what really really worries me is young people reading this book and thinking that this is how if I should treat you this is how a guy shows he loves you is by emotionally abusing you that worries me so so much so young people if you are watching this please recognize that this isn't love these two characters they are not in love with each other even though they claim to the person you love should bring you up and they should make you feel good about yourself Harden only makes Tessa feel miserable and she even says that on so many occasions she says he makes me feel miserable and yet she convinces herself for some reason that she is in love with him or what he is doing is how he is showing his love for her that is not love these two characters I'm sorry even though this is a wrong I spoke these two characters are not in love they have issues they need to break up because this is a toxic relationship my god that Thunder is just insane and so hard and also physically abusive not to Tessa even though I'm sure at some point he will be even if it's not shown in this book series so there's a scene where they are playing this game called second blow which is a game that involves kissing that sounds like a game you would play in middle school but these people are in college whatever that's besides the point so this game does involve kissing players so when Tessa has to kiss this guy Hardin goes absolutely insane and starts beating the crap out of him and mind you Hardin and Tessa were not together at this point they weren't together but then they broke up and at this point they were not together but Hardin just goes berserk and beats this guy nearly to death because he was about to kiss Tessa because it was the rules of the game this scene made me so mad it so throughout this this is what Tessa says about what Hardin does he says even though I just wished witnessed him completely losing his temper in the worst way possible I know he would never physically hurt me how do you know that if he's capable of beating a guy close to death I'm not even kidding he was about to kill this guy literally how do you know that eventually he won't hurt you because by the fact of how toxic the relationship is help you sim Hardin is to her I guarantee in the next few years that Tessa will be injured by hardens hand I have seen how these relationships end up i watch true crime shows on television I have seen so many cases where one partner was abusive and maybe they don't hurt their partner at first but eventually they do and the girl or the guy who is being abused either ends up very hurt or dead so what I'm saying is that I would not be surprised if the next few years Tessa ends up dead because of Hardin because I guarantee that he is when to physically abuse her at some point and she's just like oh he would never hurt me he loves me even though he doesn't even though he claims to he's just freakin psycho and what makes it worse is she excuses his behavior completely she after this fight that Hardin has she never once worries about him hurting someone again she isn't even concerned for the freaking guy who he almost killed she just thinks like oh you know what he just beat someone up like whatever no no he almost killed someone after that why would you still want to be with him when he almost murdered someone like what the heck is wrong with her okay so this since this is a new adult look a new adult romance there's for sure going to be some sex scenes in there and there were a lot in this book and I want to talk about them because oh my god yeah these scenes were just so crazy to be honest I skipped through the majority of these sexy times in this book because I didn't give a crap about these two characters love story anymore so why would I want to watch them get up get it on I don't care so but from the ones that I did see the ones that I did read they were completely ridiculous and I have some quotes from these scenes oh my god some that make me mad some that are downright just ridiculous so this was a was a quote from one of those scenes that comes from Tessa when her and Harden are messing around and it says his mouth continued its gentle assault how in the world do the words gentle an assault belong in the same sentence it makes no sense in a consensual situation at all this is the most unromantic sentence I have ever read the word assault should not be in a romantic scene the word assault is supposed to be a word that describes something terrible or something that's abusive but like his mouth continued its gentle assault it just sounds disgusting sounds gross and the word assault is used so many times when during a romantic scene when they are like having intimacy the world word assault is used so much and it makes no sense no sense at all it is such a poor choice of a word it does not sound romantic so moving on this sentence pisses me off so much I don't even want to talk about it alright so this is what Tessa says god this is it's just terrible let me just read it so it says I have never made anyone come before my chest heats filling with the strange new sense that I am now one step closer to becoming a woman okay so I can't remember learning in sex ed that you become a woman the first time you get a guy off does anyone else remember that no you know why because if not true this sentence is so freakin offensive and sexist I can't even I just I hate Tessa for her to say that oh my god like that is further from the truth you do not become a woman the first time you make a man orgasm that those two those two things don't even belong together at all so if you're not you're not a woman if you have never made a guy orgasm you're just not apparently you don't become a woman until you do that so this is something that Tessa says that she just said so many things are just so downright offensive and selfish and she thinks she's soaked entitled and she says this after I think it was the first time that they actually had sex for the first time and she's talking about Harden's past relationships in the sentence so she says they are just that his past I only care about this beautiful fall flawed man who just made love for the first time it is downright ridiculous how highly she thinks of herself his other girls yeah they don't matter because he made love with me for the first time so they don't matter I matter more to him off this next scene is one where Harding comes into her room completely wasted and this is actually before they do it for the first time and they had gotten to an argument of course cuz they're fighting always fighting 24/7 and he says I'm not drunk babe I had a few drinks but arguing with you sobered me up as usual the sentence just confuses me because I didn't know that the way to get sober is just to get in an argument so next time I get wasted I'm just going to get in a fight with someone and that will sober me up so thanks for the advice Harding so I'm gonna discuss one more scene in regards to their relationship before I get into the spoilers I don't count this scene as a spoiler at all it really doesn't give much away at all so this is a scene that really really bothered me for a couple of reasons so there's this scene where Tessa is at a party in the frat house that Hardin is in she goes to a room to lay down or take a nap at the party for whatever reason and while she's in there there she didn't know there was this guy already in there and this guy starts making advances towards her and comes really really close to sexually assaulting her so she runs out of the room goes straight to hardens room and this is supposed to be like a big moment when Hardin sees her yeah and here's how the scene went down this is the discussion they had um Hardin says did he touch you he asked without any trace of sarcasm or humor no he tried though I was stupid enough to lock myself in a room with him drunk strangers so I posed it so I suppose it's my fault and then she goes on to say his hand is still on my face and my mind is racing pulling half of his bottom lip in his mouth he takes his lip ring between his teeth our eyes meet and I looked down unsure what's going on but when he removes his hand I look at his lips once more and I can feel my conscience and my hormones battling but my conscience losses and I crashed my lips against his catching him totally off-guard the reason I hate this scene is because what woman in their right mind would make out with someone right after nearly being sexually assaulted I can't even tell you how unrealistic that is and how actually how offensive that is to actual sexual assault victims and this scene only exists to bring physical attraction between Harden and Tessa that's it and the evidence for this is because this scene where Tessa nearly gets assaulted is never brought up again she's never asked how she felt she's never goes through any like what PTSD from it it never bothers her again the only reason this scene exists is to make hard and seem like the big hero and we're supposed to like him that is it the the guy who almost assaulted her is barely even brought up again he doesn't have any consequence for what he did almost did to Tessa at all when you have a scene like this you can't just use it as a plot device to get the love interest bang I'm sorry that is wrong it is disgusting when these things actually do happen and they should be taken seriously but a scene like this where Tessa is almost assaulted is it is not taken seriously it is used as a plot device which it's just disgusting and it really bothered me and I think how the scene is supposed to make Harding seem like the big hero because he saved her I'm sorry anyone should feel the need to help a girl after she had almost been assaulted anyone should do that it doesn't make heart and special at all it doesn't make him seem like the big hero because it's just it's common decency to want to help someone after they just went through something traumatic like that it Hardin is still an either way it's like it doesn't change my mind about him I still hate him I just hate this scene I hate that sexual assault was used as a plot device it is just gross it is so gross so offensive all right so that's all I have to discuss on a hearted and testa's relationship it was they they literally make me wanna barf there I hate them I'm gonna move on to the writing because that is another thing the writing the writing you guys oh my god okay let's get into it so this writing was really really really bad it was so so bad this book claims that it was revised from the original fanfiction but I feel like the only thing that was revised was the One Direction names the guys in the One Direction names were changed obviously but I felt like that was the only revision because this book felt like a first draft I felt like I was reading a first draft that needed so much more editing maybe that's not Anna Todd's fault maybe she just had a really really bad editor that barely did their job that might be it but either way I don't care if this was a fanfiction before it was published and I understand that with fan fiction fan fiction doesn't go through a lot of editing because with fan fiction you are doing all the work yourself you have no one to back you up I understand that this was originally fan fiction but if you are going to traditionally publish it I expect my published books to be very well edited and they should feel like the final draft of a book but the published version of this fan fiction felt like I was reading a fanfiction if that makes sense like it it didn't feel edited there were so many grammar errors so many sentence structures that just sounded really wrong so many filo words and I'm gonna get to that in a minute there were so many unnecessary adjectives and adverbs it was just bad I'm gonna share some sentences that I thought were just terrible just to kind of back up my point this one this is Tessa speaking she says my heart stops literally stops it stops beating this sentence has been used in other books before but it just bothers me because it's not physically possible for your heart to stop it's just descendants that's supposed to sound dramatic but I just think it's funny like Tessa you should be dead in fact drop dead because I don't like you this one is an example of use of adverbs that just shouldn't be there it says shortly half my clothes are neatly folded and stored in one of the small dressers the remainder are hung neatly in my closet be shortly makes the sentence sound weird and it doesn't need to be there and another use of an adverb in this next one I quickly put my shoes on grab my purse and step out not only are there and then unnecessary use of AD verbs in there but those filler words if you guys don't know this is something that I learned recently since I have liked practice writing and have been watching a lot of tutorials on writing filler words our words like just realize to feel those are the three main ones that I can think up there are more but their words in a sentence that don't need to be there that is also another one not not that the word that is also another one it's just words that make the sentence seem more clunky and it doesn't flow nicely and they're words that the reader usually skips over so they don't need to be there anyway and I am Telling You this book is just filled with filler words I actually with my ebook copy I searched up some filler words that are commonly used throughout the book just to see how many times they're used because I was curious so these were the results realized was used 61 times which isn't that bad but it gets worse so fill was used 521 times and just was used nine hundred and eleven times nine hundred and eleven times that is ridiculous and just is a word that rarely needs to be used in your sentences sometimes there's a need for it but the majority of the times you don't need that word at all so I've been to one sentence that used to fail words and an adverb just to show like how I would rewrite ik this makes me sound still like pretentious say I'm like I'm a know-it-all I'm not a know-it-all I'm just saying like this is how I would rewrite it just to kind of prove my point I kind of sound awful so the original sentence is as soon as I'm dressed I feel slightly less nervous until I notice a small tear on the sleeve my sweater so this is how I would we write that sentence I would rewrite it as as soon as I'm dress I'm less nervous until I notice a small tear on sleeve of my sweater so you kind of see that you don't really need the adverb or you don't need the word feel in it the reader already gets that this is something that the character is feeling so there's no need to put the word fill there if you already have the word nervous there there's just there's no reason it actually is more distracting I find than anything to use filler words and that way and again there's no need for the slightly either it doesn't add anything to the sentence you can just drop it and it would make no difference along with the use of adverbs that is why I feel like there's so much telling and not showing in this book honestly I can't even think of a time they all I can think of any times where there are any showing in this book based on the evidence that Tessa claims that she's in love with hardened but you never feel like they're in love because she just says that she is but they're arguing all the time so you can't you're like are you really in love that is an example of all of the telling in this book and the use of adverbs makes it feel like there's so much telling and not enough showing and it's not just frustrating me so much it makes the writing come off as very lazy and I just feel like that so the writing no the writing was the worst one of the worst parts about this book actually there is also way too many useless scenes that could have been taken out of the book entirely up Tessa just getting dressed you don't read II do not meet scenes like this in a book so here's one example of that this is Tessa getting ready and she says my hands shake as I fumbled with the zipper on my dress I don't care for the thing but my mother insisted that I wear it I finally won the battle with the zipper and pull my favorite sweater from the back of my closet door as soon as I'm dressed I feel slightly nest' less nervous until I noticed a small tear on the sleeve of my sweater I talked terror I don't care what she'll wear that's paragraph could have been condensed down so much you could have just said I got dressed in my favorite sweater and put on a dress or something like that you don't need all of this detail it's like the detail in this book is being put in the wrong scenes and then in other scenes that are more important there's no detail it doesn't make any sense like I don't want to read about you getting dressed it's so boring who wants to read about someone getting dressed and going through their everyday boring life it just it baffles me and this is why this book is almost 600 pages long yeah I'm not kidding this romance book is almost 600 pages long why I'm not even asked why because I know why with all the use of filler words and all of the useless scenes like this of Tessa just getting ready that is why this book is as long as it is like the entire middle of the book you could have taken out so many scenes cuz honestly there were so many scenes that did not matter you could have taken them out and it wouldn't have changed this story at all and that is a bad thing that means that your pacing is really really really off like oh there is no reason that a contemporary book should be more than like 400 and 450 pages sometimes it is necessary like for example I actually have the book right here let me see the unexpected everything by Morgan Matson is how long is this book 519 pages their difference with this one though is I felt like the pacing was actually pretty good like there were no scenes in this book that I felt like needed to be taken out so this is an example of a very long contemporary book even though it was a very very long for a contemporary book I didn't feel like there were any scenes that need to be taken out but it is very rare that 8 Cantabria book should be over 400 to 450 pages to me personally because most of the time contemporary books that are that long have a lot of filler scenes that just don't need to be there and honestly the length of this book should have been a red flag to me because like I said there was just no reason for a contemporary book to be that long it should not be longer than a high fantasy book that needs a lot more world building so the so it has to be a long book to make a room for all that world building this book has no road building it's just about these two characters that just fight all the time and all of these things in the middle are just of them just fighting over and over and over again ok so the last thing I wanna bring out for the spoiler free section of this review is there's a page full of comets by the original readers at the fanfiction on the page and like little blurbs from them I don't mean to like a fan these people that's not my intention at all but I just have to say I disagree with everything that they said I just thought it was funny so here are some things that are blurred by the original readers there it says like the story is amazing it's intense adorable and perfect HESA has said no no no worst couple ever I don't even know why you got like them oh my gosh they make me wanna barf so romantic I will always ship HESA again barf nerve-wracking so cute and then this one they fight and piss each other off but that's what makes it so realistic this is the one I specifically want to comment on did I read the same book as these people because I disagree with all of this actually the part where the fighting makes it realistic couples fighting is realistic like whether you're dating or you're married yeah you're going to get in a fight with your partner every once in a while every once in a while but fighting like Harden and Tessa do constantly all of the time that is not realistic at all and maybe it is realistic for a very dysfunctional toxic relationship and you know what also isn't realistic two people who claim that they are in love but they don't act like they're in love they just fight all the time that is not realistic so that that sentence that blurb just really bothered me because it's kind of putting up the stigma that fighting with your partner is realistic so it should be accepted that's how that sentence came across to me which i think is so so wrong because abuse is should not be classified as something realistic and is something you should expect I just that is so problematic so wrong oh I hate that some readers are classifying this book as really realistic and that's why we just brush it off because it's so realistic why are we why are we viewing abuse as something that is realistic again yes it happens but we shouldn't view it as something that we should just take it as it is because abuse is wrong and we need to recognize that it's wrong that you shouldn't treat your partner like crap why is this being viewed as realistic this is why this book just really upsets me really even though I've never been through like an abusive relationship at all but just the way this book like portrays abuse just bothers me so much it's just glorified and I hate it alright that's pretty much all I'm gonna say for the spoiler-free part of this review overall stay away from this milk just don't I I hate saying that I hate a book because I feel like hate is such a strong strong word and I feel mean saying that I hate a book but I hate this book in fact I loathe this book like it's like a step below hate I hate it I hate it more than I hated beautiful disaster and if you have been on my channel you know how much I hate a beautiful disaster you know full disaster looks like the best piece of literature I have ever read and compared to after that is how bad after is it is just terrible and you would think based on how much I said like I hate reading about abuse in books abuse that is glorified in books that I would have stayed away from this book because I had heard that there was an abusive aspect in this book but I rationalize picking it up because I thought if this book is being made into a movie then it has to be good right like it shouldn't be as terrible as everyone is saying it is so that's why I picked it up but boy was I wrong it was still terrible and in fact why the hell is this book being made into a movie why why are we giving this book the attention when it's just terrible it's just it's not fair to all of those great new adult and young adult books that I have read that actually really really deserve a movie but this is getting a movie when it's the content of it is absolute trash why why are we giving this book attention what pisses me off that this book is again in a movie honestly and actually one of the reasons I did pick this up is because it was be made into a movie so I thought okay I'm gonna read the book before us in the movie but now I want to stay like 1,000 feet away from this film I don't want any part of it alright so yeah 1 out of 5 stars I would give it zero stars if I could if I could give it zero stars on Goodreads I'd totally would because it was that bad and it's officially the worst book I ever read okay so now I'm gonna get into some spoilers so if you guys haven't read this book yet and you you want to even though I would not recommend it go ahead and leave this video and if you have our the book you want to hear my thoughts on that that disastrous ending if keep watching so let's get into it okay so before I talk about the ending I want to talk about the cheating that is in this book if I had known that this book had cheating in it I would have never picked it up because I mentioned so many times how much I hate gene how much I hate reading cheating that is romanticized like it's different when the cheating is seen as wrong that it's obviously wrong but when it's written in a way that makes it seem romanticized that's what I hate and the cheating in this book made it seem like a good thing which is disgusting so Tessa cheats on her boyfriend Noah not once but twice in fact I can't remember but I think she cheated on him more than twice like she would cheat on him with Hardin the know would find out and then they get back together and then Tessa what she taught him again and then they get back together Noah was starting to annoy me too because I'm like why didn't you giving this second chances when she keeps cheating on you and she's not even a good person and her reasoning for not breaking it off with Noah when she knew that she was more interested in Hardin was was just so stupid because she didn't want to hurt his feelings okay but stringing him along is even worse sure if you break up with him it's he's gonna be a little hurt but it's nowhere near as worse than stringing him along while you are cheating on him with Hardin why would you do that to him it is just awful and after a while it's apparent that she doesn't give a crap about Noah because she just keeps on cheating on him over and over and over again even though she claims that she still cares for him her actions say differently because if she cared for him she would either stop cheating or break up with him so that she's not stringing him along she doesn't care about Noah I don't care what she says she does not care okay so let's now talk about the ending yeah the ending was I was supposed to feel bad for Tessa because she had thrown her whole life away for Hardin who only used her for a bet like the reader is supposed to feel bad for her but this scene just made me laugh like Tessa her reaction is so cringy I felt so uncomfortable reading it like I get that she ruined her life for heart and she gave up everything to be with him for some reason even though she shouldn't have but the way she reacted who was just hilarious so this is what she says this is her reaction to finding out that Harding had been using her it says and I laugh a real laugh despite my tears I find myself laughing I'm losing my mind this scene isn't played out like in the movies I'm not holding myself together I'm not handling the news elegantly with a single gas with a simple gas or a single tear trailing down my cheek I am crying playing at my own hair and I'm barely able to control my emotions and form a full sentence literally to get any more melodramatic than that her reaction I felt so uncomfortable reading it like I could just imagine her pulling out her hair and laughing like that's how this thing came across to me and I was just like mega cringe so bad and what makes it worse is I was supposed to feel bad for Tessa but really I was just laughing at the scene so this scene failed to make me feel bad for her and I guess that's due to the fact in the first place that I didn't give a crap about Tessa in the first place so I didn't care that her life was ruined that she was used when I should care when a character has been used for a bet when their life is ruined like I should feel bad for them but I just was like yeah girl that's what you get that's what you get you wouldn't ruin your life you kind of deserve it cuz you are a complete brat you deserve that and I should not feel that way at all and that proves how much this book failed to make me feel for Tessa's character cuz I don't care about her in fact she's the worst female heroine I have ever read okay so finally that's all I have to say about this book I hope I never have to think about it again but you best be sure I will mention it again from time to time like in packs and stuff whenever I do a tag that says what is the worst book you've ever read after by Anna Todd stay away from it and of course I will not be continuing on with this series the books in this series just get longer like one of the books is like 800 pages I'm like are you kidding me what could be added to this series that could make the book so Wow in fact I've heard from people who have continued this is the series that it's basically the same as after they just fight and make up and break up fight again rinse and repeat over and over again and I don't have time for that I'm not gonna put myself through that and then I heard how the series ending they get married and they have kids which just pisses me off like Tessa unless harden has redeemed himself by the end of this series then there should have been no reason why you married him you should have broken up with him a long time ago but maybe he redeems himself in this series I don't know but I don't feel like taking the time to read the series that I know I'm just gonna torture myself with if I have to read it again when I've heard that the plot of the entire series is just repetitive and it's just them fighting over again I don't I don't got time for that okay so I'm gonna wrap up this long video if you have watched to this point thank you so much if you love this book I'm sorry that I trashed it so much I I do apologize even though I don't think that many people do like this book because I've heard the majority of people really hate it but if you do love it I am sorry but these are just my opinions thank you guys so much for watching and I hope you enjoyed it
