"THIS is stopping me from doing my job"

hi there Delaware again from Eastway I've just arrived at a drive where the rcd keeps tripping says trips three four times a day but I've got myself I've got a slight problem I've got the lead to test items and that you know with the Earth leakage stuff I can't find my Earth leakage test I always keep it in my tester bag with my mega and all that and I was just checking and I can't find it so I don't know what I'm going to do so anyway I'm gonna go in there see what I can do right push one trips kitchen here you said it was your washing machine I was like you thought the big gray one is this one here or that one no this one here yeah that keeps tripping okay but uh when was the last time it tripped yesterday evening oh so how many times does it trip a day do you say twice maybe yeah and you said you worked it out to be your washing machine or something I think it might be the dishwasher but I just did the dishwasher it didn't trip why did you think that because each time the dishwasher is on it seems to cut out okay [Music] so you said it tripped yesterday yeah do was there anything going on at the time did you switch or it just tripped just like that oh okay okay cool since it's the dishwasher now so I'm going to take it out this circle [Music] if you've got some loose connections I can't even get my screwdriver okay let's be the load it's over time these screws can't get along hi there Delroy from Eastway here I've come back to this job I was here last week it was an intermittent tripping of the rcd but I couldn't find my Earth leakage tester anyway I went went on with the job and the client seemed to think it was his dishwasher so I disconnected I went to a Spur where the spur that controlled the dishwasher and took out the load and I said well let's leave it there for a couple of days and see how it goes see if it trips so it's been quite a few days now it phoned me because it hasn't tripped so it must be that dishwasher so I said okay then I'll come back and what we'll need to make sure that it's not anything to do with the plug where the dishwasher is plugged into a cable for the spur to the dishwasher check that out make sure that's clear and nothing's wrong with that and then we know it's the dishwasher but I haven't got a new tester yet because I that's got to be somewhere and I don't want to go buy another one but what I've done I bought my ancient portable Appliance tester I'm gonna try and see how it works okay cool right so you showed me a cupboard under a cupboard somewhere yeah so is there a plug there for it because I couldn't see anything I told you it's exactly as you described the plug is behind the network oh yeah oh it's behind the dishwasher yeah okay as well yeah where there's enough space to actually put your hand the thing is because I come across these problems all the time when I actually do a kitchen installation I take that in consideration and make sure the socket is not behind the thing all right okay so it's directly behind here yeah yeah you can see it but the thing is it's so annoying but I don't know why they didn't just put it in this area so you can always unplug it you know and test it it's just um people don't think about these things right because we can't get behind there you see this front panel here yeah this should come off and then maybe you can get I can get my hand up behind and unplug it that's it yeah see what I mean yeah right if you get rid of that now we should be if we may be able to put our hand underneath and unplug it oh apologies I'll tell you something it's oh this is not good man you know what the plug may be more over that side I think maybe it's easier yeah so yeah yeah update here um trying to we can't get the plug out can't get to the sockets right behind it so I was trying to take this out these legs screw up right and then maybe the machine drops so you can put it out but I can't get to those legs behind can't get to those legs behind so what a client wants me to do is put it back um reconnect it and you'll just have to put up with the tripping rcd until you can get someone to build a bat to take this out and then he says he's going to ask them to move the socket as well but you need to take it out test make sure it's not anything to do with the cable going to the socket or the socket itself and then put a test on the machine which is probably the machine anyway one trying to connect reconnect that spur although the circuit is Switched Off if the live touches the neutral the neutral touches the Earth it's going to trip the rcd and then your wife will lose power on the internet so it's best either I disconnect it at the fuse board or if you're if you don't want that done if you think it's going to take too long or whatever ask your wife if she can do without that just in case like I say it may not trip but there is a chance it could trip okay the ladies working in the shed and um I think the power comes for the shed comes from one of the bedroom sockets and here it says bedrooms Hall socket and it says bedroom oh there's lights yeah so don't need to disconnect you can do whatever you need okay cool cool okay thanks yeah you can take that stuff out then it be make things easier put these these things I'm going to put it all a bit more lower in the middle or easy for Access because the cables aren't that long so I can't even pull it pull it out properly to get it to make sure the connections are good sometimes it was quite hard to decide where to cite these um these few these um Spurs and stuff because it's quite a few there's some on the top here as well up there you can see we are in there because people don't want to see them and all that sort of stuff but it can be a bit tricky if you can't really get it out properly maybe I really need this shelf out oh boy [Music] you can't even see the terminals [Music] I think I can't really get to these connections properly it was difficult difficult to take it out but putting it back it's making more this I might have to take this shelf out as well because I can't yeah okay thank you that's my live this is my neutral hair foreign [Music] so they're easy to inspect [Music] and then if you look here you've got quite a bit of copper shine it's the best I will see if I can cut that and put it in a bit a bit lower this cable looks short [Music] look at that it's miles too long why did you leave it that long oh why he obviously couldn't get to connect it properly all right you can see now look it's not copper shine the neutral is a bit but I'm always more concerned about the live just in case anything touches you know I've got it with trouble to do the because I can't foreign it's nice and neat but um not so great when you've got to do maintenance work right so that's that and um we couldn't get the dishwasher out couldn't get access to the plug or the lead to the plug top to unplug it so can't really test it so what he says he's willing to put up with the intermittent tripping until he can get um someone to take the dishwasher out and check it so that's what they're going to do get someone in have a look at dishwasher put some tests on it see what needs to be repaired on it and take it from there oh because I just wanted to check that the cable from the spur to the socket is fine I'm checked that the socket is fine because it can be something that's like loose connection or something that could be causing that I wasn't able to do that so if they call me I'll come back and do it if not that's how it goes alright see you next time
