welcome to domination travels and today we are exploring one of the most dynamic cities in the world new york city [Music] home to over 8 million people new york is the biggest and busiest city in the united states and with so many historical sites diverse neighborhoods and delicious food options it's easy to get overwhelmed thinking about how to tackle a trip here so in this video we're gonna lay out our new york travel guide and share with you what we did in our four days of exploring new york so let's go we booked our place to stay in queens and to start our first day in new york we took the subway to roosevelt island to write the roosevelt island tramway into manhattan [Music] now the tramway was not built as a tourist attraction but as a mode of public transportation to connect the island with manhattan the tram climbs up to a height of 250 feet giving you an incredible view of the city especially as you soar over the streets of manhattan to ride the tram it will cost you the price of a one-way metro ticket or free if you have the unlimited metro ticket this was one of our favorite things to do here and it's a shame so many people don't bother to ride the tramway when they visit new york [Music] after enjoying the tram we made our way to the lower east cipher brunch at clinton street baking company this gem has started off as a small bake shop and has now expanded to a full-service restaurant we got a serving of their famous pancakes along with the brioche french toast topped with bananas and it was absolutely delicious after finishing brunch we are heading into midtown where we're going to spend the rest of our day and for our first stop we are going to the museum of modern art or moma for short moma houses a wide collection of artworks spanning from the 19th century until the present including masterpieces from van gogh picasso monet dali and rousseau among countless others and while the met is the most famous museum in new york and a great place to visit consider visiting the moma if modern art is your preference a trip into midtown is not complete without visiting grand central station now as a major subway and rail hub in new york it won't be hard for you to find your way here and when you do arrive you will be treated to one of the most beautiful buildings in the city opened in 1913 grand central dazzles you with its gorgeous main concourse featuring a 125 feet high mosaic ceiling and swooping arches it is also on the main concourse that you will find grand central's iconic clock helping passengers know what time it is as they make their way to their next stop grand central we stepped outside to marvel at some of the many skyscrapers that new york is famous for and while not every building is a work of art there are a couple like the chrysler building that are definitely worth admiring once the tallest building of the world and featuring a definitive art deco architecture this is one building that you'll enjoy taking a time to look at [Music] for lunch we were getting pretty hungry so we made our way to grab a burger from shake shack and while shake shack has now expanded to all over the world it started here in new york serving up greasy but delicious hamburgers to all it's so good that every time i'm in new york i have to stop in at least once [Music] new york is a busy and crowded place so to get a little bit of peace and quiet and some fresh air it's time to go to central park central park is gorgeous with its wonderful pathways lakes and gardens making it such a pleasure to stroll through at about two and a half miles by half mile you won't be able to explore the entire park unless you have a lot of time in your hands so we decided to spend some time at the lovely bethesda terrace and fountain and then stroll through the park to enjoy the scenery and even catch an inning of some locals playing softball with the sun setting low and nighttime arriving we headed to times square and while it's true that times square is kind of a tourist trap and is packed with so many people there is something to be said for for coming here at least once if you visit new york if you do come to times square we recommend coming at night when all the billboards light up and the place is filled with a spectrum of colors it's big it's busy and it's dazzling all at the same time [Applause] for day two we are going to spend our morning downtown in the financial district but before sightseeing we're going to stop in for a quick breakfast at la parisien for a slice of france and the big apple [Music] the brioche breakfast sandwiches we ordered were fantastic and it was actually kind of cool that the entire staff was speaking french definitely not what i was expecting in new york after breakfast the first site we visited was the oculus and while the outside of the building looks a bit different kind of like a skeleton of a whale or the giant flying creatures from the avengers the interior is stunning to behold [Music] you can grab a photo from the top looking down but we found that it is most enjoyable to go down to the bottom and to look up [Music] right next to the oculus is one of the most important memorials in the city the 911 memorial built to remember those who died during the darkest day of new york's history when terrorist attacks destroyed the world trade towers killing almost 3 000 people along with another bombing attack in 1993 that killed seven the memorial features two large reflecting pools in the place where the twin towers once stood and along the perimeter of the pool are the names of everyone who lost their lives in the horrific attack it is a moving place to visit and one that should not be overlooked in your visit next to the memorial is one world trade tower which is also known as the freedom tower also constructed in the aftermath of the september 11th attacks one world tower is now the tallest building in the entire western hemisphere to go to the observation deck at the top for some incredible views it will cost a hefty 35 dollars per person so we opted to pass this time around there are a lot of key sites to visit when you are downtown but one spot you might want to avoid is the famous charging bull statue because of this we were really surprised that just how crowded it was and if you want to visit it by all means go for it but just beware of these crowds now when you think of new york probably one of the first things that come to your mind will be money and no place punctuates that perception quite like wall street the heart of the financial district and while there's not too much to see here besides the famous exterior it is easy to get to if you're visiting downtown and it's also right across from our next stop federal hall on the outside you will notice a statue of george washington his statue is here because this is the location where he was inaugurated as the first president of the united states [Music] this spot was also where the first congress met and where the bill of rights was first ratified along with hosting many other historical events and while the current building was constructed many years later it still played a role in american and new york history and you can actually enter the hall for free and spend a few minutes to explore and check out some exhibits that describe the early history of new york [Music] now our morning was pretty busy so we made our way up into midtown just as it started raining for some lunch next to the famous flat iron building at italy italy is a neat little italian marketplace serving all kinds of food to make your favorite italian dishes and it is also home to a great spot serving up a new york staple pizza we went with the classic margarita which is just tomato sauce mozzarella basil and olive oil on a soft yet crispy crust simple but delicious it was a phenomenal pizza and the perfect lunch [Music] so we had some time to kill into our next stop so we made our way up to 42nd street to bryant park and now as recently as the 70s bryant park was a crime-ridden area to avoid but thanks to decades of restoration efforts the park is now a shining example of a revitalized new york city here you can pick up some food or goods from one of the vendor stands or just spend some time to catch up with friends and even play some board games [Music] now new york is one of the entertainment capitals of the world and a popular thing to do here is to catch a show watching a broadway show is usually the first thing that you think of but if you'd rather find something free to watch you can sign up ahead of time to be an audience member of the tv show recording we were lucky enough to get tickets for the late show with stephen colbert the recording does take a couple hours and you need to arrive early to be seated so take this into account when you arrange your schedule but overall it was definitely worth going and we had a great time after a very long day we decided to grab dinner from the trendy ipudo [Music] and then we called in a night [Music] for day three we are heading back into manhattan and this time we are exploring the west end [Music] we began the day in chelsea and for breakfast we're going to grab another new york staple the bagel and there are so many incredible bagel shops to consider in new york but we went with brooklyn bagel and coffee company because we heard good things and just because the location fit in with what we had planned for the day [Music] with a generous serving of cream cheese on a large size bagel this was a great way to get the energy we needed because we are going to walk a lot today first stop today is going to be one of my favorite spots in all of new york the high line the high line used to be an elevated train line running along the west side of the city but when the line closed instead of removing the tracks the city transformed it into one of the most creative parks you will ever see [Music] stretching for almost one and a half miles you can enjoy a nice walk on the high line while having the opportunity to capture some unique views over the city from the elevated position [Music] at the south end of the high line you can stop into chelsea market housed in a historic industrial building with a delightful decor that calls back to its industrial heritage chelsea market is a hip indoor food hall with plenty of options for lunch or just a quick snack for us we opted to go for tacos at the famous los tacos number one this stall looks unassuming but the tacos are incredible here and considered some of the best in the city and despite it being so busy the staff was very friendly and helpful and even remembered my order when i went back for more worth it now that we are filled up with tacos it was time to explore some of the neighborhoods of lower manhattan just south from chelsea market is greenwich village and soho now greenwich village or just the village is known as one of the centers of the us's counter cultural movement of the 60s you can go and explore to find cafes recording studios and venues frequented by various famous artists writers and musicians of the past it's also in the village where you will find another of manhattan's famous gathering squares washington square park further south in soho you'll find a neighborhood that features plenty of art galleries and has also recently opened up to modern shopping outlets but what's really special about soho though is that it's home to the largest collection of cast iron constructed buildings in the world because cast iron buckles under intense fire it was quickly abandoned as a building material so you just won't come across such buildings very often from soho you can then walk east to the lower east side which was historically home to various working-class and immigrant residents back when new york was the main gateway into america this is where you'll find new york's original chinatown a historic significant center for the chinese-american community and to the north you can find the remnants of the original little italy along mulberry street these areas can be a little crowded so walking further north the rest of lower east side emerges as a very enjoyable neighborhood to stroll through and explore there are plenty of cafes shops and street vendors and it quickly became one of my favorite places in new york to walk through on an afternoon [Music] we were exhausted from all that walking and fortunately the lower east side is home to a new york institution katz's deli katz's has been open for over a hundred years and won the most well-known places to get at the stromion rye sandwich the pastrami sandwich was not cheap at over 22. but it is big enough that we were able to get by by sharing a single sandwich but when it comes to the taste the quality of the pastrami was incredible perfectly smoked and just fatty enough that it melts in your mouth with the right amount of seasoning i don't know if i'm gonna say it tops montreal smoked meat but it's a conversation worth having after a long day it's time to call it a night because tomorrow we tackle brooklyn [Music] so for day four we are finally leaving manhattan and we are launching ourselves to tackle brooklyn and do this we're going to start with dumbo dumbo stands for down under the manhattan bridge overpass and this neighborhood was once primarily industry and warehouses but once these businesses left in the late 20th century it was redeveloped into an upscale residential and commercial district when you are in dumbo take time to explore the streets a little bit to catch a glimpse of new york's industrial path amidst the quaint cobblestone streets perhaps the most well-known spot in dumbo is the photo location on washington street looking through the manhattan bridge and out towards manhattan now if you really want to get this photo get ready to compete with the crowds or just come really really early [Music] now another nice part about dumbo is that there's plenty of space along the east river for a walk and you can enjoy some great views of the manhattan skyline here [Music] our recommendation to get an even better vantage point is to go to the empire stores which is a converted coffee factory and then walk up to the roof right next to dumbo is the brooklyn bridge another iconic new york symbol that is a must visit constructed in 1883 the brooklyn bridge was the longest suspension bridge in the world upon its completion and was the first connection point between manhattan and brooklyn [Music] the bridge is about a mile long and while it's doable to walk the entire bridge because of time we only walked a little bit of it but if you want to adjust this itinerary to walk the whole bridge what you can do is start on the manhattan side early in the morning and then cross over into brooklyn to do everything else now an optional thing that you can add when you're here is to explore the brooklyn heights neighborhood an affluent residential neighborhood brooklyn heights has some of the nicest streets in the entire city thanks to a large collection of pre-civil war-era brownstone row houses if historical architecture is appealing to you then it will be worth your time to stroll down a couple of the fruit streets and enjoy the character of these majestic homes now back in dumbo before we leave we were recommended to grab pizza at juliana's for lunch but for our lunch we actually won't stop here this time because we have something special planned [Music] since it was saturday our plan was to head into another must visit part of brooklyn which is williamsburg because every saturday in east state park is when smorgasburg takes place smorgasburg is a weekly outdoor food festival featuring hundreds of vendors selling all types of food beverages and desserts from across the world we first went to smorgasburg when we visited la but it actually originated here in new york so we're really excited for this and thankfully it did not disappoint we try some delicious food including roasted corn on the cob a fisherman's salad and okonomiyaki while enjoying the spectacular view of manhattan from the park [Music] once we were finished at smorgasburg it was time to explore a little bit of williamsburg now this part of brooklyn traditionally was a working-class neighborhood but extensive gentrification has since transformed it into a vibrant and hip neighborhood that it is today when you are here you can enjoy some street art flea market shopping areas and plenty of cafes and bars to eat at and this was how we spent our time in new york and while there are so many incredible places that we did not have time to see we hope that this video helped you with planning your upcoming trip to new york city if you found this video helpful at all please give it a thumbs up and consider sharing it and also
