[Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] well it has been way too long there's been a ton of stuff going on uh for the past couple of months pretty soon you guys are gonna see it all it's really exciting maybe i'll show a little bit of it here [Applause] so what a wild ride this has been and i apologize that it has almost been four months since my last woodworking video but there is a lot more videos to come in the future and all of this is happening because of you guys and i wish i could show you right now but this is just a teaser so we'll get back to cheese boards and coasters it's back to making sawdust [Music] i can't hardly do anything in this garage without destroying it so i was going to make this video utilizing the scraps but i need to make as much product as possible i just have too many order requests to do that and i'm going to put those out for later where i have a place to organize them i have to go get some more wood i'm going to do some more seat tables later can't wait to do those this thing 19 when is it 1955. i never thought i was gonna get one of these it's got some really sweet character i can't wait to to do that one here's a piece of multipod [Music] this doesn't look like my other storage unit this looks familiar [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so so [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] yup the band saw has been a little bit of a pain in the butt uh doing my resawing for my strips so to make things a little bit easier for right now i'm going back to the table saw see you guys in a little bit we got wenge maple cherry padouk maple walnut and purple heart [Music] it's like 80 degrees outside for alaska that is smoking hot [Music] so [Music] [Applause] [Music] strips and sizes are run on the table saw and then run through the drum sander and i marked the layouts cut them planed them and you can see the pattern of the wood is [Music] [Music] [Music] so i have a couple of runs of the natural more the natural wood style this one's bird's eye maple this is laced wood uh so i kept the the grains going the way they originally were with adding the strips in now these are my cutting board strips and coaster strips and cheese board strips and we're going to run these down into smaller strips to make my traditional style designs for cheese boards [Music] [Music] [Music] well those came out really well these are pretty much good enough for the most part where you could just use a block sander like i used to and clean them up but i'm going to clean them up with the drum sander brilliant [Music] everybody asks what this is here's the abrasive painting stick [Music] [Music] cheese boards coasters [Music] well you know how i always say you can never have enough clamps well i just happen to have enough clamps tonight i had two left sweet so [Music] [Music] well i think this has to be one of my favorite parts getting to see what the new patterns look like after they're all smooth with glue and they're all uneven once uh once they pop out of that planer it's pretty exciting [Music] so so [Music] i broke the last blade sent him an email this is in the previous video and no questions asked they sent me a new blade since then i've been in talks with laguna real quick middle and outside and comes right out i have some exciting stuff to talk about laguna later on but now let's put on this uh one inch resaw king 3p 3 tpi variable really nice blade really thin curve should make for uh this little resock trick quite enjoyable [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] well that came out really sweet sharing all my secrets here greedy [Music] [Music] [Applause] time for everybody's favorite part [Music] [Applause] time for a quick hike i guess you check this place out it's only five minutes from here it's pretty awesome [Music] so that was fun back standing [Music] [Applause] we've got a lot of big news coming that's sad to say but i probably won't be using this much longer but make a little uh great dust collection [Music] daddy's working on some janky stuff here i always want to go in about yes no that's pain that's ours yes i'm gonna get mad if she sees me mama's gonna get mad at me what's this one what's that that bow it's tape you want some tape no this one's mine so [Music] i have to say that works pretty dang sweet i've got a pile to do here and then once i cut these all up besides then i have to do the end grain portions as well and i'll relieve the the sides on them so this is 240 grit i'm going to put on a new belt this is from last one but so cardboard template works it'll work plenty good for now and if i was keeping this thing uh which i might then you just cut the tape unfold it and you have your dimensions for a template for making one out of wood [Music] it worked out really well this is pretty much just all the rubber from the sandpaper eraser flip up but other than that this thing pretty much got all of the dust it's not even my filters tell you what all those people who ask how i do this wide angle lens the shop is not as big as it appears in the video for everybody who asks how i do this in this tiny shop well yeah it's not getting any easier time to make some coasters there's a little outfeed set up for table saw extension this is a old cross cut sled i made for actually a really old one of these and it works on this one it's been sitting in the shed for years a little stop time to make some coasters [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] that is a lot of coasters 216 coasters something like that it's sets of four quarter inch thick pretty much 4x4 but i made sure that each one fit identical that way [Applause] [Music] oh i can hardly see straight 10 hours sanding stuff is just brutal 10 hours to do that but boy they sure came out sweet time for a beer little shout out to our local brewery these guys are awesome and i could just call this good and not spend another you know five hours ten hours finishing these or i could finish them to perfection like i normally do and then call it good so uh we're gonna go with the uh my normal good finish [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] over here multitasking answering questions on youtube yep working on it [Music] well that took way longer than i thought there was a lot of time and setup and you know just making some hold downs figuring out what jig to make doing four at a time instead of one or two at a time figuring that all out but once i got up and running um it did take me around 14 hours to do but it was maybe six hours worth of actual run time once once it got all figured out but came out pretty sweet here we are gonna raise the grain on 216 coasters sand with 320 then uh mineral oil bath and board butter buff then we'll be on the home stretch to the website to shipping to everybody who wants some of these [Music] so raising the grain and hand sanding 216 mini cutting boards it's probably a little bit ridiculous but i like them perfect so here we go found this thing used found this used that used that used that mft table used this drill brace press was a still of a deal used uh as much as it looks like i like to buy new things i try to buy them used but it's only so much you can do in alaska there's not much here okay and tanning's a little brutal let's make a little jig real quick so okay [Music] so [Laughter] [Music] yay [Music] [Music] once again this is just brutal 12 30. finally done though this jig worked out really well i can sit here and hand sand in front of this thing and it just [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] so so [Music] to four hours to buff with the board butter but they sure came out sweet it's one o'clock at night been uh taking care of the kiddo all day my wife's still working full-time so this is me getting four days a week to work in the shop and figure out the new business can't wait to show you guys what's happening real soon [Music] so [Music] so [Music] so [Music] [Music] little room in this little shop [Music] so [Music] so [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] so [Applause] [Music] so [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so it takes a long time to do these that way but they're all done perfect so i guess it's worth it finally made it to the last session of sanding here we've raised the grain so now 3 20 and we're done this is like pumping yourself up to go jump in the ice go gold mine and pull your shift for the day you got to think about it or just jump in time to get to work [Music] [Applause] [Music] now for the best part [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] so so [Applause] you i am pretty dang happy with that they came out great uh the feet are a little a little more inset than i would like this is the cutting board butcher block and cutting board feet jig so i'm going to make a new jig and bring the feet out just a little bit [Music] so we picked out this board for ourselves left enough space where you could put some cheeses back there the whole block [Music] well did it well i know it's been a long time since i posted a video i apologize for that it has just been crazy with the amount of stuff i've had to do for the hobbity business to the next step which is uh be letting you guys know
