flavor city family what is up it is bobby on the north side of chicago about to go into the grocery store and go to a section i don't normally go to the booze section to tell you why there's a healthy dose of weed killer from monsanto's roundup in the beer the wine the bourbon the rye that you might drink every day and that's a darn shame because you think of a roundup and you think of gmo crops but it doesn't just stop at gmo corn and soy roundup is sprayed on a lot of things as a desiccant as a drying agent and it affects a lot of wheat and oats and grains and what do you think beer and booze is made from it's kind of shocking so let's go upstairs and show you what to buy what to avoid and why when it comes to booze before we get up there and do our thing you know the drill like subscribe share all those things are just lovely but to make sure you don't miss any content going live there's a bell icon below the video enable all notifications then make sure on your device pushes are enabled from youtube because we have five six videos going live every week these kind of videos live stream cooking demos that are a lot of fun i don't think you want to miss out okay let's mask up and go check out some booze i'm making my way over to the alcohol section here at the grocery store and you might be asking why do i have to worry about weed killer or gmos or roundup in my booze when i think of gmos i think of the usual suspects like these i need thinking containing corn like corn chips anything containing soy at the grocery store and that is true those are gmo crops but here is the shocking thing what a lot of people don't realize is that in the u.s roundup is sprayed on all wheat and all oats in all barley as a desiccant as a drying agent i believe they call it kill down they do that because at the end of the growing process it dries out the wheat or the or the grains makes it easier to harvest so knowing that what is beer made from wheat what is stuff like bourbon and rye made from corn so if you're going to have anything that comes from wheat and oats in my opinion you're going to want to get organic like organic bread organic pasta organic oats otherwise they score very high in glyphosate the active and ingredient in roundup so knowing that let's mosey on over to the alcohol section and tell you how it's pretty much in all alcohol we drink every single day here we go see all of these beers over here most of them my friends are gonna have glyphosates in them so knowing that what can you do the first thing you can do to avoid or to really mitigate the amount of glyphosate or weed killer in your beer is to get organic beer there's some really good options here but when you get organic beer something really cool happens it's illegal to spray glyphosate or roundup on organic wheat or anything organic that being said the crazy thing is even some organic samples of beer tested with some levels of glyphosate why is that because glyphosate is so widely used in this country and in this world on corn on soy on conventional wheat oats and grains that it really permeates into the soil and affects the surrounding crops so if you have an organic field next to a conventional field it's going to run off into the soil i believe for every acre of land there's half a pound of roundup and glyphosate in that land so organic is still a much better step and there's great options but you can also do this you can go and buy something like a german beer if you don't have access to organic i'd say buying a german beer is your second best option why because germany is actually um doing steps to eliminate the use of roundup in their country they're so proactive that a 2016 study showed high levels of glyphosate in their beer they said uh homie don't play that and by one year later they severely limited or mitigated the amount of glyphosates in their beer and there's a bunch of countries that are actually going to outlaw the use of glyphosate by the year 2022 or 2025 but until then it's really um to you to know which ones are low glyphosate so germany beer is a good place to start but i'd really go with organic beer try to find it that's going to be your best bet to avoid glyphosates ah here we go i was looking for something like this if you're wondering what beers have the highest amount of glyphosates it tends to be the most conventional beers around so stuff like budweiser miller cores and when it comes to wine stuff like sutter home and those basic conventional brands those are the ones that tend to have the highest amount of glyphosates so especially stay away from those if you still are going to drink conventional beer wine wine is actually my preferred drink of choice if you see me do the youtube live streams you see me drinking keto line which i'll talk about in a minute but a lot of people don't realize that the wine industry is actually very dirty wine can use up to 75 chemicals to make the wine they almost all use added sugar during the wine making process and they don't put that on the label they don't have to tell you any of that so i actually think a lot of the reason why people get headaches is not from sulfites it's from the chemicals and added sugar and even if you buy an organic wine well that might be slightly better but it's still chemicals being used just because something is organic doesn't mean there's no chemicals it's just organic approved chemicals and they're still adding sugar so what do you do i would buy sugar-free chemical-free wine and it's actually becoming a little more prevalent i think of a couple of brands off the top of my head there's dry farm wines there's one that i drink called the secco wine club here's one that's okay but fit vine uses less sugar but they don't talk anything about the chemicals and i believe cameron d as i saw on instagram has their own uh sugar-free chemical-free wine called uh avalene now these wines are great because they're so clean uh they only have about .3 grams of carbs per 5 ounce pour versus three and a half grams of carbs for most wine and they're not going to give you a hangover or a headache because they have no chemicals once again i don't think it's the sulfites that give you a headache with wine i think it's all the chemicals there's one called mega purple that can be devastating um i drink secco wine club i'll put a link down below in the description box for discounted shipping but once you try clean organic sugar-free chemical-free wine i think the game will really really change just keep in mind the wine you get from the grocery store wherever you're getting it has a lot a lot of sugar and chemicals and the cheap ones like a sutter home actually can have glyphosates in it too you don't want that kind of stuff in your body for all the bourbon whiskey and rye lovers out there what are these alcohols made from corn if it's not non-gmo organic corn it's gonna be made with gmo corn and sprayed like smithereens with roundup for the exception of a few kentucky bourbons which is really cool so four roses buffalo trace and wild turkey all use non-gmo corn which is really really cool some of them do it because the international markets just don't want gmos internationally wise gmos are very very faux pas but here in the us we're not quite as tough on them but other reasons why they do it is because it can take five to fifteen years to make a bottle of bourbon if we discover in three or four years that gmos are a big health hazard like a lot of people say they are including the who whether you believe the wto anymore is another topic but uh if it turns out in five years they're bad well that could be a huge financial loss for these companies because these will be aging for so long so someone like a wild turkey might just play it on the safe side and make their bourbon with gmo free corn to hedge their bets you don't really have to worry about gmos when it comes to vodka because they're made from potatoes which aren't really sprayed with roundup you don't have to worry about a tequila which is actually my preferred alcohol of a choice if i'm gonna have it i love a good top shelf anejo tequila of course george clooney sold that brand i think he made more money selling that brand than he did his whole acting career you really have to worry about the ones that are made from grains like rye and corn those really should be non-gmo and when it comes to scottish whiskey you have to ask or check directly because i know a lot of european companies ban gmo corn i don't know if that's the case necessarily with a scottish or irish whiskey or anything like that you might want to check but for the american ones i would stick with the four roses the buffalo trays or the wild turkey otherwise you're having a nice dose of roundup with your bourbon the thing about roundup and weed killer and glyphosate the active ingredient in roundup is that it goes way beyond booze it goes to the foods that we eat almost every day at the grocery store because anything with non-organic corn and soy is going to be shredded with roundup and anything with wheat or oats is going to be sprayed with roundup too but it affects other products too for example legumes legumes tend to score high in glyphosate unless they're organic if they're organic they're very very safe if they're conventional they're not why is that because roundup is sprayed everywhere that it runs off into the soil the funny thing is i think a bayer bought around monsanto a couple years ago for a ton of money and now there's so many lawsuits for billions of dollars they're going to lose money on that investment so that's what you get for buying the devil but be very very leery because do you really want to put stuff like weed killer and roundup and glyphosates in your body no and there's a lot of studies that say hey this is not safe but the problem is there's so much money in it that there's a lot of studies in the u.s that say it is safe it's not that's the reason why a lot of european countries have banned it and heck even the wh oh in 2017 said uh roundup and uh glyphosates are bad so if they can get on board with that you know it's a bad thing uh so i think you really want to avoid roundup and glyphosates in the foods we eat every day so if we're going to get wheat-based products make them organic oat organic legume organic and get the organic and non-gmo booze like we just talked about so that is it you guys i hope that video helped out if you want to see other
